Boko Haram would never had grown wings if it was properly and severely dealt with at its infancy. Instead Jonathan spent almost the first 4 and half years of his government telling us that Boko Haram was about northerners not wanting him to be president but insanely forgot that Boko Haram predates his presidency and he decided ignored the threat as something far away from Abuja.
That allowed them to freely recruit, get financed and grown beyond control, only for Jonathan to wake up from his slumber 3 months before his dreamed re-election. But the gene is already out.
Once the gene is out of the bottle, it is difficult to put it back. If this Shiite group is not eliminated now, the next phase will be Shiite v Sunni (Boko Haram).

tafrica:
The 2016 Budget is a big disappointment and fraud.

This Govt professes to want to build our FOREX reserve, hence they are restricting people from buying foreign products, but Buhari went ahead to budget over N3.6b, which will be withdrawn from our FoREX, to import BMW at the expense of locally made cars like Innoson, which could have been bought with Naira. Is this rational?

Presidency budgeted a total sum of N13,525,001 for Newspapers and Magazines, this gives N36,953.55464/day. Is this really a form of austerity? Do we spend this much per day on papers?

We budgeted N559,189,321 for computer software, this same software was budgeted at N81,307,350 in last year's budget.

They budgeted N322,421,971 to link cable to driver's rest room. Which kind of cable could that be? Is that our priority?

Many unspeakable hundreds of millions spent of furnitures

State House Medical Centre budgeted 6 Units of 2bedroom flat at N50,792,811. That gives an estimate of N8,465,468.5 for a single 2-bedroom flat.

N308M budgeted for VIP wing at state house hospital. That amount can renovate dilapidated hostels at OAU.

Over N300M will be spent on Animals.

Fellow Nigerians, without prejudice, the inflated budget put at over N6T isn't meant for the good of Nigerians but to officially allow some persons recoup their investments.

So many over-inflated figures as compared to last year's budget.

If Buhari, with this budget, promises a lean Govt, what should we expect for a flamboyant budget?

All these expenses on cable to driver's room, inflated software acquisition, new furnitures, VIP section at state house hospital, inflated printing materials, BMW cars (instead of locally made), renovation of already fine villa etc, are they worth why we should subject our Nation to borrowing? Shouldn't we have rather remained at N4T budget without much debts incurred?

I saw pictures when Obama hosted GEJ and Buhari, same chairs for the two occasions, why is our Govt, which claims to be lean and prudent, spending hundreds of millions on another furnitures, what happens to those being used at present? Will they be auctioned or what? Why can't we continue to use them for austerity sake?

This much celebrated Zero-based 2016Budget is a big disappointment and FRAUD from APC and Buhari to defraud us and enrich themselves.

If you read this budget, you'll be appalled, and no wonder some BUHARISTs are claiming it is a lie because they can't believe what they are presently reading here, but trust them, they will come back to doggedly defend it when they see the budget is true. We're here, we'll call you out and call a spade a spade. This Budget looks like a new state house is to be constructed, A BIG FRAUD.

Every luxurious thing budgeted this year is far greater than last year's, shouldn't we have reduced these in austere Govt?

Do we know how much was/is spent on Daura Helipad till this moment? Buhari is running an expensive combined with opaque Govt to steal us dry.
now una see why we say dis change is a TOTAL SCAM.

Hypocritical Cluelessness...You condemn somebody and then do worse than them. I wonder if those tyres are made of gold. Even the clueless Jonathan reduced his expenditure to N6.6billion when Oil price was about $60 per barrel but the Dullardinh0 increased it by about 7 times with Oil price at $38.

From what I see, with N1.4 billion for travel, he can as well rule Nigeria from the comfort of his hotel abroad.

Meanwhile I am interested in the budgetary provision for food

A template has already been set in Lagos by APC's local champion (Fashola) who left a debt burden of N160billion with a borehole and website costing N300m and N78m respectively. It's only in this part of the world that a govt will borrow money to finance welfarism. Aregbesola did the same in Osun by taking loans for the so-called school feeding project and left the State "technicality" bankrupt. I haven't seen any Nigerian parents who complain of inability to feed their wards in primary schools but Buhari wants to mortgage Nigeria for the sake of 2019.
hahahahhaha remember d ipad opon scam in osum? grin wasting state funds on fruitless venture was aregberewa's specialty. osun state is a perfect example of a debt ridden failed state. same way nigeria is heading with d 2016 budget of scam.

Politics › Re: Presidency To Spend N114m On Feeding In 2016 – Document by drss(m): 7:34am On Dec 30, 2015
BALLOSKI:
Contrary to reports in some quarters that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government earmarked the sum of N1.7 billion for feeding in the Presidential Villa, a copy of the relevant section of the 2016 Appropriation Bill obtained by The Herald showed that only about N114.97 million was earmarked.

Recall that rumour had pervaded the media space, especially the social media, that Buhari planned to surpass the amount spent by the Goodluck Jonathan’s administration as many as four times.

A comparative analysis of the last administration’s total expenditure on “feeding” which included items like Food Stuff / Catering Materials Supplies, Cooking Gas/Fuel Cost, Refreshment & Meals, and Purchase Of canteen / Kitchen Equipment, in the last two years showed it allocated more funds than the new administration.

While the 2014 figure showed N542.86 million and the 2015 N526.17 million under former President Jonathan, the 2016 under Buhari is slightly lower, at N445.49 million.

Business › Nigeria's International Reserve Fell 15 Percent In 2015 To $29.342 Billion. by drss(op): 6:28am On Dec 30, 2015
Nigeria’s external reserves has so far depreciated by 15 per cent this year at its current value of $29.342 billion, compared with the $34.493 billion it was at the beginning of the year (January 5, 2015).
This, represents a decline by $5.151 billion so far this year. But
industry sources told THISDAY that the actual value of the nation's
could be lower than the present value seen on the central bank's
website considering international obligations and bilateral
agreements that had been entered by the country whose
payments are from the reserves.
The drop in the forex reserves value has been largely attributed to the significant reduction in forex inflow into the country
occasioned by the sustained low crude oil prices. Oil prices have
been hovering around $37 per barrel in the past few weeks.
The development made the central bank to introduce several
measures aimed at preserve the reserves and ensuring exchange
rate stability.
For instance, the central bank during the year harmonised the
foreign exchange market by closing the official window of the
foreign exchange market in order to create transparency and
minimise arbitrage opportunities in the foreign exchange
market. This was then seen by a lot of commentators as a tacit
devaluation of the nation’s currency. All demand for forex was
then directed to the interbank market.
Furthermore, to deepen the market and enhance the efficacy
of the demand management measures, the central bank gave
specific directives on the effective monitoring and repatriation
of both oil and non-oil export proceeds. In addition, the utilisation
of export proceeds was restricted to eligible transactions only
to minimise leakages. Also this year, the CBN officially stopped the sale of dollars for a list of 41 items as it also sought to reduce
pressure on the naira as well as preserve the external reserves.
However, it stressed that importers desirous of importing them could do so using their own funds without any recourse to the
Nigerian forex market.
In response to these, commercial banks in the country recently
banned the use of ATM cards abroad. The ban, which has the
backing of the CBN, also stemmed from dwindling foreign
reserves and banks’ inability to settle dollar transactions arising
from the use of naira cards abroad.
A banking industry analyst, who pleaded to remain anonymous,
said the situation in the country is not about the central bank,
stressing the need for sacrifice on the part of Nigerians in order to
rebuild the reserves and restructure the economy.
"It is easy for people to blame the CBN, but the truth is that this
has gone beyond the central bank. I am not sure if any other
person is there as the CBN governor, the person would have done better or different. Today, we need to move away from rent-
seeking because it is hurting our economy. We need to begging
to move from doing economics, to being patriotic because that I
stge only way we can save this economy," the industry expert
advised.
But the CBN’s Director, Monetary Policy, Mr. Moses Tule, said the
restrictions on the use of electronic payment cards abroad would likely to be lifted when reserves increase to between $50 billion and $200 billion, adding that all hands must be on deck to achieve the target. He said the new policy was a healthy development for the ailing economy in spite of the attendant inconvenience to cardholders.
According to Tule, foreign exchange under the condition Nigeria has found itself has become a seasonal commodity. "Seasonal in the sense that it depends on the movement of the price of oil; if oil prices are high then we build reserves, if oil prices are low then we have no reserves then we are in a crisis. But that should not be the case for an economy as big as Nigeria because we should by now have sufficiently diversified the economy to a point where
developments in the oil market should no longer matter.
Unfortunately, that has not been the case and that is why
sometimes these kind of decisions have to be made.
“Our priorities as a nation for the allocation or use of foreign
exchange is one, for the settlement of matured letters of credit that have been opened for importation; two, for the importation of petroleum products until such a time either when we have our refineries fully operational and we are not in a position to import fuel again to ensure that the wheels of economic development
continue turning and running; and three, for the importation of
raw materials," he explained.
