How does that always happen? My friend just reported he has been asked to go to Nigeria through his producers.

God is good.

I assume that if Black people in America are on the map around the world, there have to be far better singers in West Africa where they came from right?

I think of course as slaves, we (AA)were only left our own voices and we have become experts in using what we had to fight with. Yet fundamentally Africans should come with fantastic new flows, themselves. Ones we don't even remember.

It's probably mostly a matter of not having the funding.

Maybe AA are isolated and self-centered and are not reaching out enough to West Africa's Musical Community.

There's a great oppourtunity here, if someone will see it. Maybe I just don't know the people working on it and am not seeing the fruit of it.

I wonder what it is that prevents this? This explosion that I figure should be pouring forth from West Africa.

randa,

I must be like the senior citizen of hip hop. If your old at just 30 and listening to it!

@gbade,

What is funny to me, is this, the kids ain't listening to what the world listens to and is called "top 40". Kids always want to burn CD's on one of my computers and they download stuff I have never heard of, not even an inkling.

I think the underground is doing booming business among the kids.

To generalise Nigerians as animals is so reductionist. However due to poverty and general illiteracy our value on human life's damn low. Check out the number of dead bodies on lagos roads and how people drive by like its nothing. Our failure in civility is not that we are worse than other countries but that unlike other countries, we just don't convert our rage into action.
To me somebody who can drive by dead bodies laying on the road doesn't seem to have anything to do with illiteracy and poverty.

The good samaritan story that Jesus told had to do with the well off walking by an injured person and refusing to dirty themselves helping the person.

Me, personally I believe that Nobody has ever cared about Nigerians or Nigeria. And that trickles down to the people and they act just like they have been taught to act.
