Hello lovely mommas!!! Nita, i see you here, how u doing and your boy. Please i need help...can someone help with info on how I can prepare soyabean/crayfish/groundnut combo by myself; and also how to make pap. I know i read it on this thread some years back but cant seem to find the info again. Also, is it safe to grind corn/groundnut/soya etc. with public grinder. I tried using my blender with my first baby but it wasnt smooth and the process was quite exhausting. Also, when you use blender for baby food, do you need to sterilize with milton before use, or is it just enough to wash properly. Thanks |
i think its Netherlands, not sure |
And this too, i cant seem to get enuf of ds kids....#agbaya me ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSF0p_3SmV8 |
Interesting piece.....imagination without boundaries bring about the brightest innovation. I definitely don't believe the world would be entirely this way in 2030; but i know that thought-processes along this line have birthed explosive initiatives like Microsoft, google apple, skype etc. P.S. Cant believe people didn't comment on this thread; and even the extremely few people that made comments are not saying anything intelligent. At the least i'd expected opinions, discussions and debates as to where technological innovations are headed in the short-mid term. We Nigerians need to learn to think outside the box. ![]() Oh yea, threads that pull traffic on NL must have something to do with religion, "my wife cheating on me kinda issues", ethnic debates etc... ![]() |
skelemba:Errmmmm, just noticed.....is this the same skelemba dat opened this thread nna(abi na nne), you are blessed Ar u on a second missionary journey? ![]() |
Nita2013:My sister, we are fine thanks. Hwz ur son too and mummy. I dint see ur PM o, i just sent u a PM now..pls holla |
Oga justwise, i agree wt @PrinceAde, FavordB...... Imagine if from the start of this thread people have been sharing info through PMs, the thread would have been dead by now. It is agents (and maybe a few private doctors) that benefit from whatever popularity you are talking about. And for hospitals reviewing prices because of popularity gotten from this thread, understand that different hospital increase prices based on different reasons. I would use MIHS as a case study cos i had my baby there during the MIHS boom days. MIHS did not increase their price because of Nigerians influx. Infact, we Nigerians did not constitute up to 3% of their clientele base. MIHS is a county hospital supported by the state government. I understand the price increase was because their grants and allocation from the government was reduced and they had to rump up income to survive. Even before the Nigerians influx, they always had the resident and non-resident package. Yes, the increase for the non-resident pack was higher; and i think it is only logical to favor residents more (as residents pay the taxes used to develop the state); remember its a county hospital. Honestly i benefitted immensely frm this thread o (about 8k dollars in savings is not beans money). I ended up having a successful VBAC too against my original plan of CS. I have even referred pple to this thread and its been the same testimony ![]() So Oga justwise, kool down for us ehn find comfort in d fact that we nlanders benefit from this thread wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more than the agents do Stakeholder profiling is important in business o. No worry, if u want we go dey pay tithe to Seun to support the ministry ![]() U are doing a gooooood job BTW |
modath:NO dear, its NOT possible to have a CS without anaesthetic, dats suicide mission. You know how painful a minor knife cut is when slicing e.g orange; then imagine the pain of slicing thru ur stomach and womb. No hospital would try such, not even a slaughter house. |
Francutok plesae can you provide d name of the hospital and doctor you used in Maryland. Thanks |
People please help a sister.... Pls what is the fastest process for getting a U.S passport for baby in the Maryland/Washington area? |
Please for those who had their babies in Maryland...........what is the process of getting U.S passport in Maryland? For hubys consent form, do they accept just abt any Nigerian notary public or must it be from U.S embassy? Thanks |
Hello to all my MIHS heartbrokens.........kpele nu, its not so bad Just to confirm wat naijaphoenixmum said abt the new prices...yes, its 5,400 for normal and 6,500 for CS The Chief Financial counselor confirmed to us that all those with Financial appt from October to December would be honored the old price. Infact I asked her 3times just to confirm. She showed me the list of bookings and said yes, old price applies to all these pple. So wat i would advise is if you already have an appt, call her to confirm again if your name is on her list; and try to beg her to send u an email confirming you would pay the old price wen u arrive. Be polite, and explain to her that u dont want to come all the way and be faced with a bill u dint plan for. Her name is Francesca Hernandez and her number is 602 344 5011. All d best |
you can call MIHS on this number +1 602-344-5407 This is the email of the person dat sent my email appt, u can also send her a mail...Alba.Caban@mihs.org |
LOL @ gangster, my sister na situation dey make crayfish bend.... If i had my way, i would have flown much earlier. Theres no need taking risks o, its better safe than sorry. AirFrance and Delta do not have strict preg flying rules (i checked their website before booking, and also asked when i was moved to Delta). I had my doc write a letter wen i was 36weeks declaring me fit to fly. At check-in, Delta asked for a photocopy of the letter; and that was it. |
ohk, so i arrived the U.S yesterday with my big belle (im 37 weeks). I thank God for grace; and u nairalanders, cos i applied all d tips i received here. My interestingly favored POE story goes (its long sha cos im giving every detail)..... I originally booked AirFrance because POE was Detroit (I was avoiding Atlanta and Houston POE). On wednesday i received a mail that my flight was cancelled cos of the ongoing Airfrance strike; flight was for thursday 18th. I called their office and was re-booked to Delta at no cost. I had a very stressful wednesday at hospital visit and at work-handover tinz; so i decided to upgrade to biz class wen i get to the airport. I requested for upgrade and the kind lady that attended to me advised me to wait till i get on the plane cos d plane was not filled and its cheaper to upgrade in the aircraft before takeoff. Luckily my seat was at the back end of the plane and truly, there were some vacant seats at the back there. I was in the three seat-middle row, with one man beside me so the third seat was free. There was a vacant seat in the next row so i begged the man to move there. He first refused but obliged after a few minutes. I jeje raised the mid seat armrests, went round all the empty seats and collected pillows; and that was how i got myself a very comfy bed. I dint bother to upgrade and pay any extra money. Honestly, i had the best flight in my entire flying life cos i slept almost through the flight (moral of the story...never be ashamed to ask for favors esp wen pregnant , the man next to me looked quite hostile but i braved up to request him to move to the empty seat). On arriving Atlanta, I first went into the ladies to freshen up, did lil make up and tried to psyche up confidence (dint declare at the embassy that i was pregs but i did the email tin to abuja NIV). While on the immigration queue, one white immigration guy kept looking at me, i saw he noticed my naija passport and big belle (i just dey fire prayer dey go). Fortunately, i was directed to a black american guy right next to him. White man quickly said smthing to the black american guy and the man looked up at me, nodded and continued his work. I walked up confidently, said hello and good morning pleasantly and the man just relaxed. Interview was as thus: Man: Let me take your fingerprints Me: (Did that, still looking all pleasant and confident) Man: What is ur purpose for this trip (looking through my passport); while typing on the computer Me: To rest, have my baby and shop Man: Have you spoken to any doctor Me: Yes I have Man: Have you paid the hospital fees Me: No, i requested to do that but the hospital insists they see me first before i can make payments Man: What is the hospital fees Me: Abt five thousand dollars Man: How much do you have Me: Abt nine thousand dollars Man: Ok, make sure you pay all your hospital fees and keep ur receipts, we will ask you whenever you visit the U.S again Man: (Stamps my passport and says) Welcome to America, and do not stay beyond this date (sometime in March 2014) Me: Thank you (with a smile) No secondary inspections, no counting of money, no asking to see any documents (and trust me, the documents i had on me beat Phemas burden of proof) ![]() So im chilling in Maryland right now, off to phoenix over d weekend...@ Dinawe and co, i just booked crossland o, hope to hook up with u pple And regards pregnancy time for travel, @Nita 2013 said it all. Whenever u choose to travel be it 20weeks or 39weeks, please visit ur doctor regularly before ur trip (and use good hospitals that have modern equipment). With doctor's advise; also listein to ur body cos our bodies are different). I did my last doc visit a day before i travelled, did a scan, even did one examination whr they checked for signs of contraction, baby's heartbeat and blood pressure. I rested all through thursday before flying in d evening. Did same during my last preg (i flew at 37 weeks too and was perfect). Pray and commit all to Gods hands. Wish everyone goodluck....next report shall be frm Phoenix by Gods grace |
@ Nerf, I thank God for u cos HE knows best and HIS ways are perfect. I dont want to imagine wat wuld have happened if u were on-air already; or wat ur NICU bills wuld have been if 27weeks had happened in the U.S. @Vavara, thanks for the info on palm shadow; so crossland it is for me I was able to re-book my MIHS appointment on +1 602-344-5407, spoke to one Alba Caban and she sent d email Im off tomorrow, praying for safe journey and POE |
Thanks a lot @oawele and all, i called MIHS and was rescheduled to next week. I have even received the mail confirmation. Pls for pple currently in phoenix, which other hotel has a fairly good naija community aside crossland? |

Hello Varvara and all Phoenix bound mommas, we are increasing by the day, i arrive phoenix on the 22nd of september by Gods grace...will decide btw crossland and twins palms wen i get there @LeonessAug..congrats, u ar getting ready to leave already. Would appreciate a quick response as i intend to book ticket asap. Thanxxxxxxxxx |
@Blesyn83, wowww u are already leaving phoenix...congrats, dats pretty fast. Pls pls pls can u share hw u were able to expedite ur babys document processing, if im not wrong its less than 3weeks since u had baby. just a summary of key tins to note, i knw u wuld really b busy now. Tanx |
Plus i support @EfeEj's view. We all know marketers wen we see dem naa haba; at least pple noticed those dr esparati & co gunners then. Biko tamper justice wt mercy ![]() |
Oga Justwise, understandably, as the mod u wuld try to discourage pple making unnnecessary gains from the site. However, the essence of this thread is information sharing. You cant imagine the impact ds thread has had on pple (including me) - successful visa applications, good thousands of USD saved, less stress in overall planning etc. All ds hav bn achieved because of pples generosity in sharing info. In a bid to stop ds tiny number of pple with ulterior motives, dont u think u wuld prevent tons of pple getting valuable info; wen u start deleting contact details etc? Think abourrit o biko |
And pls which airline can one take if travelling at 37+ weeks |
Feels good to see pple using my email template of change of travel plans and getting +ve responses frm d embassy the tread is such a blessing to us@freshface, babymama and all Phoenix intends, nice to see we are increasing in number by the day (even tho im still lukin for a good deal in maryland). Im travelling end sept. @nerfitiram recommended a hotel, siesta palms or so, really affordable and inclusive of meals; u can google dat, its a good deal for accomodation @freshface, which email appt did u get from MIHS - Financial or doctors appt; cos my appt is with financials even tho i requested to book an appt with a doctor P |
@hawtmum, you are so lucky to get that bill from PG, I called and was told 10-12k for CS delivery, and dat excludes doc's fees n anestheologist. I dont want to risk hoping for discount and get stuck with huge bills if im not lucky. Infact i also checked with Holy cross hospital and d cost was about d same. Maryland is so expensive, wish i can get something cheaper there, else i ll kuku stick with dear cheap MIHS. |
@ Genomi ds is wat i sent to them, u can re-word to suit u Subject: Change in travel plans Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to notify the embassy of a change in my travel plans. I have a B1/B2 visa which was obtained for a family vacation. I am pregnant and we have decided to have our baby in the USA. I have contacted a hospital in the USA for this purpose and we have adequate finances to cover all expenses. I understand my visa covers for this purpose but would like to request you kindly update my records to reflect this change in travel plans. Also please advise if there is any other thing i would need to do. Thank you. |
