Hi,

Please
I was given the information that some hospitals have special reduced rate for women without Health Insurance coverage. The first thing then is to ask your hospital if they have payment plans for women with low income. Payment plans could be installment or a large cut off from the initial bill. In essence, dont be scared of the big figures you hear or see, you may not pay up to the big cost. They will need evidence you earn low and thanks to poor naira to dollar exchange ...all the big naira na small dollars. Your Nigeria payslip is enough for this I was informed. Having said that, if you provide me with the name of hospital , I could make calls for you to know their pricing and of other plans that will be beneficial. Good news is that, if they dont offer what is needed, they will refer to where such cheaper maternity services could be accessed. Anywhere in this place is good, the system works..no story...although some hospitals could have more facilities but basically...You will be fine...Pray also.

I will respond.

This is amazing.....Preciousfab, kindly help provide names of the hospitals you know that offer such packages, God bless you for the generous offer to help with calling and accommodation cos this journey can be exhausting for people that don't know anyone in Canada....

Hello all......hotstepper, Geeagu....i see u wink

Wow, its a pity Dr. Ayodele has stopped taking cash patients, Dr Seido stopped sometime last year. Brampton people can try Dr Nayla Khan of Brampton Civic. She's in the same building with Dr Ayodele. As at last month she was still taking cash patients, i hope she still does. Her fee is 3500cad for either Vaginal or C-section delivery; inclusive of epidural. Her number is 9054979002 so just call, although you would need to get a referral from any family doctor or walk-in clinic before she registers you.

I have received a couple dms about baby document processing and promised to answer on the forum for the benefit of all. Geeagu has provided detailed info but i will expatiate on the canadian passport application:
- Pick up a hard copy application from any shopper's drugmart store attached to a post office - the form is free so take 2 copies just incase you make a mistake
- You would need some information on the the long birth cert and hospital discharge report to fill the application form
- The other information required are mostly you and hubby's personal information. If hubby is not with you, provide his info on the form but don't sign on his behalf. He will need to visit a Canadian embassy to sign.
- 2 passport photo of baby - please ask to ensure the photographer is aware of the Canada passport requirement before taking the photo. I paid 12cad for ordinary passport photo
- You would need a canadian citizen to sign as a guarantor on the application form, the guarantor will provide citizenship number. He will also need to sign on baby's photo
- Google to find out the nearest passport application center to you. Just walk in (no need to book appointments or anything) and submit your application
- If hubby is not with you, they will give you the information he requires to sign at the Canadian embassy
- I also did the express application and it costs 107cad, my pick up was in 4days cos my travel date was close

Good luck to everyone kiss

justwise:
@All

Please keep discussion open here to help this thread grow like USA birth thread, the insane request for PM and dropping of contact details is killing this thread.

@Justwise, kudos for the great work moderating these threads. However, i would say this insane request for PMs is partly your fault. I remember back in 2014 when you started banning people from sharing info freely on the US thread. You stated that "agents" were taking advantage and making money off nairaland. This may be true but unfortunately, hoarding of information will only encourage more PMs.

Right now, when nairalanders come here for info and they dont get it, they quietly PM people with experience. The information is shared offline. Even the so-called agents contact experienced people from nairaland to get information. That same info is now sold to helpless nairalanders who desperately needs the info. This thread is not growing, naiaralanders are not getting info easily and the agents are making a lot of money off nairalanders. Your customers are now the victims. There are several of those agents everywhere now, I even saw one of them on instagram, advertising burden of proof - Phema/Nairaland proprietary document angry

So brotherly, the summary of my long epistle is for you to allow people freely share info here on nairaland.....doctor, hospital, accomodation everything should be here. You would be amazed how many agents come on this thread...when we ask questions here and no one answers, they pm us and offer the information to us at a price...

When you started this thing in 2014, the US thread slowed down for a while, it picked up because of the large number of people going to US to give birth....this your initiative will definitely stifle a small population thread like this..

Lemme go and drink water to cool down my anger jor...... cool

Lest I forget, ensure to carry all your tests and scan results from Nigeria cos the time will be too short to start running tests. Also, if possible, redo a scan as close to your travel date as possible. It would save you time, stress and money cos Dr. Ayodele accepted all my medical reports from Nigeria.

If you can, also do rubella and Strep B tests too cos I was sent to do them here at Lifelab for 65cad; i didn't have them from Nigeria.

Google the doctor Ayodele's office number and call ahead to book an appointment while still in Nigeria. Call them with a canadian number immediately you arrive to confirm you'ld be coming in for the appointment. I had my baby about 2weeks after my first appointment with them without any hassles...just have the complete money in cash to pay at your first appointment.

@ Shinethelight.....I believe your faith can work for you o, nothing is impossible.

I applied for my visa Nov.15th and got the message to pick up my passport in January, exactly 55days after I applied. I have read on this very thread that some people have gotten their visas processed in one month; i have also seen one week processing time on this thread. So if you have the faith, I would say go for it...........

On hospital, Dr Ayodele of Brampton Civic is still taking patients at the old price of $3500cad for doctor's and $2600 for hospital. You would have to pay both fees to him immediately you register though. The doctors fees is for both Vaginal and CS. However, if you are having CS, you would need to pay for 2days hospital stay which is 2600x2=5200.

Missusaga is very close to Brampton, less than an hour depending on what part of Missusaga you would be staying; not bad in my opinion.

Please can anyone help give a detailed breakdown of the baby documentation process....e.g birth cert- do you apply for long and short online; what's the website, ehat do you need to know or do to get it asap; at what point should father in Nigeria go to canadian embassy and what does he need to go with; how to apply for passport and naija visa etc...

I know the info is here and there on the thread....can anyone kindly help put it together for us....thanks in advance

Happy to see some life on this thread since my last login...

Thanks Dazzing....very detailed and informative guide.

Madam Geeagu, wow I was also at Ayodeles yesterday....im just reading this thread now, would have looked out for you....we may have even seen sef....ill dm you let's plan together

This brampton civic new law ogaaa ooo, after paying Ayodele 3500cad, they expect someone to just deposit another 9000cad just like that....although they said they will refund any balances....lets see how it goes..

Anyone with better alternative around that area, pls let's know. I got a good doc at 1600cad using orangeville, but orangeville hospital cost is 4500 per night for mother and baby and extra 1500cad per surgery hour for ceasaerian birth...completely insane....

For all intending sojourners, oshawa is the way to go o... cheaper accomodation, cheaper doctors fees.

My poe was really smooth as most processes at the airport are now automated, there's little interactions with cpd officers....the q&a session with cpd is now done on a computer, you just type in your answers to questions...even secondary food inspection is automated, foods are scanned before pick up....(tip)...bring in as much food as possible, they don't reject food anymore....i hear they are trying to embrace the multi-ethnicity they preach....i dint know this before coming so I just brought few food items.....e pain me o

Hello All,

Please for how long does the immigration in Canada stamp in a visitor at point of entry....is it based on the time you stated in your application or do they give a standard 6months like the US.

Thanks

Thanks Olalacious.....please anyone that can help with accommodation in Brampton area should kindly dm me. I'm looking for a one bedroom apartment; i'm also willing to share two/three bed with other mommas. The ones I have found so far are too expensive.

@Geeagu, let me attempt to respond to your question based on readings from the thread.....I think the onus is on you to convince the CBP officer that the money you have on you would be sufficient for the trip. You can explain to them that you have contacted several doctors and have made up your mind to use Dr XYZ, stating the fees for his service and the hospital costs (you can actually get this info by calling doctors office). Since most of the doctors don't send emails, be sure to have the name, address and phone number of the doctor you would be using. If you have already secured an appointment with the doctor, it makes it better - just tell them that.

Another very useful info I got from Nairaland is the budget sheet, I believe it helped in securing my visas; I also plan to use it at POE. Draw up a well written budget sheet with proof of funds/cash or card, I believe that would be sufficient.

I don't know if it will make any difference coming from the UK cos that our green passport never helps. I suggest you use a purely UK airline not Virgin and BA as they usually have a good number of Nigerians connecting from Lagos.

All the best and God help us.....

@ Hamddy...I think hotstepper means its not true....

My opinion, its always been a subject of discussion in the US and Canada to stop the outright citizenship at birth thingy but no strong directions have ever been made. If they want to end it, I don't think it will happen instantly. I believe there will be strong deliberations at the senate/house of parliament before they take a decision...

This thread is getting too cold o, people please lets share our experiences.....

I was at the verge of making payment today for my US birthing when i received a mail from VFS that my Canadian application is ready...i quickly ran to lekki to pick up, and glory to God i was given the visa. I had given up already cos I applied late and they held my application for 2months....so its change of plans for me cos Canada is my first choice

So now, im super-excited and super-confused cos i dont even know where to start.....@hotstepper, the specialist, anyone in the house...please i need your help o....from what I've read so far i'm open to doing Toronto or Oshawa. The only problem is that I plan to travel by this month end and I will be 36weeks. No accomodation plans, nothing....

Anyone that can help with any info, kindly reachout.....thanks so much

Greetings everyone,

PRE-TRIP
Online reviews proved useful in choosing a hospital and an associated OB-GYN among the usual suspects around Houston: WHMC, Oakbend, HNWMC, Methodist Sugarland, Memorial, and Doctores Para Ti etc. Moreover, the right decisions are made when you invest time in reviewing pros and cons of options available to you. I highly recommend this habit. So, look out for my review on the hospital and OB-GYN in subsequent posts.

Hello Madam, hope you are settled in well and LO is doing great.....ejor, I have been waiting for the follow up of your post especially the hosp/Obgyn review.... im strongly considering WHMC.....please would really appreciate if you can share this? Ive done a bit of research....would really appreciate if I can call to seek some clarifications from you

Good Evening House,

Please I urgently need the service of a structural engineer to help assess a sinking building. I understand the house is sinking because the street road was tarred years after the house was built. I would prefer an engineer with strong knowledge of underpinning; and who can give a good estimate of how much it will cost to fix the problem.

Location is Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.

Kindly pm me if interested. Many thanks.

We are still evaluating this canada move; can someone kindly help with answers

If after going through all the process and one is eventually selected via EE, what is the timeframe given for one to relocate to canada; before they cancel the permanent residency.

Also, if the husband is the principal applicant; can the wife and kids relocate first and then the husband join later.

Thanks

Hello people, im new to this thread. Hubby and i are considering this canada relocation. Pardon me as i have not read through the whole thread, but can someone kindly help with the following information:

1. At an average, how long does it take to process the express entry i.e from when you apply till when you are selected (assuming you already have the ietls, wes, etc to meet the required 67points)
2. If you are selected, how long do you have to relocate to canada before they cancel the residency
3. My hubby has a Bsc and masters; i have a bsc and acca (professional exam); who stands a better chance being the principal applicant

Thank you.

Since Funbact A is discouraged on this thread, you may want to apply sparingly.

@NoQualms

For the catarrh, do as Miraclemum says.
For the cough, if its improving, you may want to continue wt the hospital medicine for some more days; as cough in babies dont just disappear instantly.
If its not improving you can try piriton(there's a brand called Allergin) and Vitamin C, 3days and baby wuld be fine.
