Yes, just water pumping itself unaided by any other energy source. It is amazing it has not been treaded on this highly informative forum especially with cost of vegetable production - tomato, cucumber Ugu etc skyrocketing these days given the increasing cost of energy -petrol and diesel. Hydraulic ram pumps can deliver water to up to between 20m and 40 m high from the stream near your farm, works continuously 24/7 nonstop, can be adapted for continuous irrigation and is environmentally friendly. If you already used it on your farm, please share your experience. I will be willing to support farmers who want to explore this dimension to cost-effectively irrigate their vegetable farms. You need to have a flowing water source like a stream or river near your farm and you want to pump-lift the water to irrigate your greenhouse or open field Tomato, pepper, cucumber, Ugu, carrot etc farms. We will support a customized design for your environment! Give me a shout! |
Healthilyea:Hey thanks Healthilyea, please count me in by letting me in on the cost, shipment and all. I am looking to buy about 800sqm's worth of polythene cover and 150 sqm's worth of net. where did you source your drippers from? I need to have finished my construction by November? Please be kind to give me the contact.. |
onyeogalu1:Ventilation and temperature control to prevent crop scourging. Temperature inside can go haywire in a hot afternoon in the tropics - plants will scourge under such condition. the same reason they put net on the sides |
TAEpiphany:Dear TAEpiphany, Can you please share the greenhouse costing that was shared with you, I recognize that its been a year. I need it for my education and guidance as I am planning to set up a greenhouse. My email: dele.abegunde@yahoo.com Man thanks |
Regarding Tomato Ebola and the evil moth, is there anyone with experience to share about the Pheromones and Tutrack that the Kenyans seems to swear about? Has it worked in Nigeria? Is it also available here and if so, at what price per unit? It sounds like a likely solution for Tuta absoluta in and open field cultivation. What do you guys think? |
jethro2:Thanks for reaching out. Basically what I read is that I have to import the UV treated Polyethylene cover? I see quotes on Alibaba anybody wan to share their experience on ordering on Alibaba platform? 1000m drippers looks quit pricey for the NGN 100,000 especially considering that I will probably need 2000 m to effectively cover 15m by 50m green house plan. Any suggestions for knocking this cost down significantly? Will importing them with the polyethylene cover provide cost advantage? Should I assume that the drippers which you have suggested with the price is a gravitational dripper rather that pressure drippers? Many thanks for providing with you experience to avoid making your past mistakes. I am not a genius if I repeated peoples past mistakes am I? |
DuduEkun:Is somebody out there? If there is a kind tomato grower with greenhouse experience please help by responding to my questions. This tread has suddenly gone quiet! |
jethro2:Ahaaa! So the experiment succeeded. Praise God. And I have been so informed by it. I have started designing the frame for a 50m by 15m (750sqm) greenhouse for starters. Please someone be kind to advice me on if and where in Nigeria I can get to purchase: 1. UV treated Polythelene cover (is importation from china feasible or even advisable?). 2. drippers 3. mulch Polythelene 4. Good seed for middle belt temperature. What is the average cost of each of these materials ? Want to start operations by December. Someone please come to my rescue if I am pipe dreaming for a starter. |
