Have you noticed that herdsmen killings have stopped disgracing our headlines a few months now - just before the elections? I think this is to manipulate our collective short memories from remembering whoever we held responsible for those gruesome killings of our dear ones - they don't have to be members of your immediate family to be your dear ones unless you're a goat. Now, all we remember are nPower, marketmoni, pocketmoni, tradermoni, everythingmoni as if the 'moni¹ has been used to buy the lives of those who have been killed. That's why you see crowds in Enugu, Plateau, Benue of all places, milling around someone they cursed a few months ago. My people are real fools walahi. If we have half a brain, the sudden break in herdsmen killings should be an eye opener of how one tribe manipulates the rest of us. Fools we are - all of us except the herdsmen tribes. Mods should note that I have not called the name of any tribe. OK? |
melvinjames:Nigeria is so blessed with great souls that I consider it an insult when you make it sound as if Atiku and Buhari are our best or only samples. It can be neither of them. It should be neither of them. Let it be neither. |
With Nigeria, all things are possible. |
My people, I hope you know that Nairaland is one of the principal image makers of this country. So, we all have the responsibility to preserve it. Also, I hope you know that abuse has destroyed some of the most successful online start-ups. For instance, where is the once burgeoning Yahoo today? 'Yahoo boys' helped to bring the company down through many abuses, hence their name. It is why Mark Zuckerberg recently launched a special campaign against fake news on Facebook. To make sure this doesn't happen to our dear Nairaland, I am opening this thread to discuss on how we can all make the forum better. So kindly give your opinions. Let me start with myself: Nothing is more annoying on Nairaland than reading an interesting topic and enjoying the comments and, all of a sudden, you see a LONG off-topic advert standing on your way! And you find that again and again and again. I am sure that I am not the only person angered by this attitude that offends against forum rules numbers 1, 6 and 18. And how can we stop this? I suggest we can all help the mods by using the 'report' link under such offensive post. Then, mods should ensure that a reported post is truly offensive before handing out punishment against it. This is because some people will surely abuse this 'report' link by reporting posts of those they hate purely by malice. To control this abuse again, let the mods punish any reporter they consider to be malice-driven. Now, over to you all. Point out areas that need change and how we can effect the change. Thank you. The lesser of two evils is still evil Remember, if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten. In other words, if you want change, then create changeNice job op. If only a sizeable number of us could take this to heart! What the few evil men do to over 200 million great and good Nigerians is similar to what three teenage boys did when they used 3 toy guns to rob 32 able-bodied men in a bus. If only the 32 men knew the power they EACH had over the negligible minority that was robbing them at gunpoint! Alas, fear did not let them use their power. Just like the 3 little boys in the story, the 'powerful' politicians rob us of our mandate, destiny and welfare at a large scale and AT GUNPOINT. But, if only we knew the power we wield as the PEOPLE, both individually and collectively, this continuous robbery would stop TODAY. It is called THE PEOPLE POWER. Alas, fear makes us resign to fate, and so we keep on being slaves with all our powers in tact.

LegitBoyy:Foreign missions are the embassies, consulates and high commissions, not NGOs. I think people didn't understand what I mean, which is why only you showed interest. So, let me place this on my signature for a while to see if some people will show interest before I continue. |
Incidentally, what you see in this photo happened in Anambra, the home state of Peter Obi, the Vice Presidential aspirant of PDP. Some people are wondering if Anambra rain makers caused it or whether it is a sign from the outer space. What is your take on this sudden rain in the midst of dry season, and just when and where APC campaigns were happening, forcing Buhari and all the APC members, both great and small, to let down the broom and let up the umbrella before the whole world?

Whether you want to do business or work with foreign missions in Nigeria, the most practical way to earn hard currency while in Nigeria, is to have career connections with the embassies, high commissions or consulates of those countries that own the currencies in question. This is the secret I am using this thread to share: How to establish this connection with a good number of them. For instance, if you work with the US Embassy, you get paid with US Dollars. Or, if you work with a European Union Country, you get paid in Euro. But the money, for me, is not the real value that will accrue to you. Instead, it is the living connections with staff, nationals and travellers which can lift you any time. So, let me see how many of you who are interested in this topic before I continue because it's going to be a bit long and may take a few days. If you are interested in this, you can indicate by following the topic or else I'll not suffer to type what no one needs. UPDATE This is a secret about how to have career connections with embassies, high commissions and consulates of non-English speaking countries in Nigeria even if you can communicate only in English. These non-English speaking foreign missions are often in need of Nigerians they can communicate with in their own language, to fill emergency and casual positions. This saves them the cost and the time of having to bring their own nationals to do every single thing. Apart from the French-speaking countries among them, who often get cheap staff from neighboring Benin Republic (and even Nigeria) and the Arabic-speaking nations who are helped by Muslims at times, the rest will often jump at any local who can communicate with them and who is interested in working with them especially in non-specific job positions (the specifics are usually filled from home). These non-English speaking foreign missions are especially interested in you if you let them know you are particularly interested in their culture, that you are willing to learn more of their culture (including language) and you desire to work for their interest locally. You'd better do all this in an email exchange with them. So, the challenge now is how to communicate convincingly with them in their own language for you to start a relationship with them on a career basis. But don't worry about this challenge as there is a very convenient way around it which I am going to let you know. The truth is that you may not see as much money as you might expect from them. But, for me, the relationship is what matters most - not only with embassy officials and staff but also with visitors. But, this is not to say that the money does not matter at all. This is why I advise you to go for countries with a high currency exchange rate relative to the Naira. This will ensure that whatever pay you get will turn out huge in Naira value. I have been compiling a list of these non-English speaking countries with a presence in Nigeria but I have not completed it due to an unexpected busy schedule during the month. I will make it available as soon as it is ready. The compilation focuses on the following: 1. Non-English speaking countries with a presence in Nigeria, their official language, their official currency and it's exchange rate with the Naira. To stop the list from being too long, I am including only countries whose currency exchanges with the Naira at least at the ratio of 1:40 (so that you can take an informed decision). The number of countries compiled will hopefully be about 50. 2. Their contact details in Nigeria including physical addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. 3. Lessons to help you communicate in the language of your chosen countries in just 3 days. This is extremely easy as you will see. 4. Sample emails and replies you can send to them and how to very easily construct them in the official language of each listed country. When this compilation is ready, I will update this post to inform you. You can text your email address to 09020744543 to get an SMS and/or email notification also. |

If Aisha said those things, it is clear Buhari has minimal coordination over his own family as also over his own administration. In fact, his lack of coordination over his admin is obviously a manifestation of his family crisis. Never you under-estimate the power of your home front relationships. |
Happy Xmas everyone! I hope we don't overdo it. Everything on NL today must not be about Xmas only. So, I join to add spice to it all. Christians quote such Bible verses as Genesis 2:24 to buttress the Divine origin and endorsement of monogamy against polygamy. "For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh” . That scripture says "his wife", not "his wives". Well, needless to say, monogamy has been associated with Xtianity all these centuries. But, all of a sudden, here is a modern day pastor who supports polygamy so much that he made it the theme of a church program, printing it boldly on the program banner. Fellow Christians, what do you say to this?

Gr8. Great career plus great family is something to be very grateful for. |
EVILFOREST:I am reporting you to Atiku for removing him from this important list. |
Oh, and they are truly cute. One of the best things to happen to a man or woman, is a wonderful home front you desire to come back to. Rejoice with those who are blessed. Then, seek your own blessing, and you will find it.

visijo:You are from Edo State. True or false? Lol. |
Anyone who succeeds in career and also in family is truly successful. Kudos to him.

versashee:And what if he took the money but NYSC later finds out and punishes him severely for his dishonesty? See, before we call others foolish, we should be careful that we are not the fools instead. How much is N198,000 that a corper whose records are fully with the authorities would risk losing so much? Let's change our mentality as individuals. That's the only way things will change for us as a people. Thanx. |
versashee:That guy is the direct opposite of FOOLISH. That guy is making millions in money and connections soon, just by giving up this money. See how he wisely and most wisely made it public instead of reporting it privately to an NYSC official that would have robbed him. I just learned a lot from him. |
I am looking for a reliable bulk SMS Service that easily allows you to customize SMS with your name on the go and as many times as you want. I need only honest user recommendations, not marketers please. |
kolmic1:Why you you no dey gree? Shebi I talk say make you no do marketing? Lol. Well, thank you there, that's the spirit. I think a BAAAAD marketer like you cannot joke with your online reputation. So, I'm signing up to test your service. I hope I will be able to easily customize the sender name. |
