Junegirl,
GTB registrars

By the way it's no ignorance, we are all learning
Nigeriana,
I'd advise you follow this thread and ask any question that comes to mind otherwise you'd have to go buy a book on stock brocking. That way you'd learn faster.
Cheers.

Tmoni,
Have you gotten your certificate already. How did your know you were alloted 80% of your request?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by Dumsky(m): 11:09pm On Mar 21, 2007
Hello junegirl,
I'm not sure i know how long the process of certificate issuance is to take officially but Usually it takes about 4 to 12 months from history though i stand to be corrected. For this reason i'd say be patient and keep your ears to the ground. The certificates will surely come.
For account access, someone already answered a similar qusetion i posted so just go through the thread.
Finally, if you bought the GTB IPO and have not gotten any correspondence till now, something must be greatly wrong. My guess is either you were not alloted or the mails have been going to another address. Have you checked the mailing address you used when filling the form for the IPO. You have to track this because you must be a very rich girl by now looking at the history of dividends and bonuses. I'd also advice you contact the registars dept to confirm if your name is on their database. Going forward however, i'd advise you never wait this long before confirming if you share purchase requset went through or not.
Hope this helps. Cheers.

Thanks bro. By the way whatever happened to the phone in access via which you could get info about your account status with the CSCS? Is it still functional? If yes do you still have the numbers?

Hi Frankiriri,
Is it possible to log in and monitor one's account portfolio with the CSCS? huh
InvestmentRe: Made More Than A Million Naira From First Bank Shares! by Dumsky(m): 2:40am On Feb 06, 2007
Actually they are. Selling now attracts a 5% VAT so you'd probably be paying about 4.5652% of the sell value as commission as against 4.0652% as buying commission.

@ Cheexy,
I think the question on why transcorp is percieved as being long term has been answered. However as regarding triple gee, i think it will make a good buy as it's a stock that has a lot of potentials.
Sorry for the delay in replying.

Hi,
UBA, Oceanic bank, Zenith, Ashaka and Wapco look good for short term.
Transcorp, Crusader insurance, Fidelity, Guinness, Nigerain Breweries are a few very good ones for the long term.

Moshsoft,
If you're talking about onformation on picking stocks to trade you could get a copy of financail times every monday.
If you're asking about which broker to use, you can trade short time with any broker.

egoldman,
The call rate thing is just the interest like interest you get on a savings account or a fixed deposit transaction. Also a growing number of broking firms are now charging fees for verifications so don't be alarmed. It's the current trend.
InvestmentRe: How To Make Money With Shares by Dumsky(m): 5:32am On Jan 20, 2007
Hello Rukky82,
Just seeing your post and a recent member so this might be a little belated but quite educational all the same. The thing is trading is done on the floor of the NSE for 2 hours everyday(but recently is being done remotely i.e. via computers from individual broker offices). There are day low and day high prices and as such you'll not always get to buy at the day low or the day's high. Imagine what would happen if everyone waited to trade at the day's low or day's high, there would obviously be no trading. My advise is that you watch the trend and speed of execution of your orders. Your broker might just be doing you a great service or reaping you off. Those fundamentals will tell.

Happy investing,

If you've got spare cash for investing, i'd advice you pick up UBA shares before the register closes on the 22nd of january. Not only will you get a dividend of N1 per share and a bonus of 1 for every 5 shares, you also stand to reap from capital appreciation and the stock will most likely continue it's upward rally even after it's price adjustment for dividend and bonus payments because it's first quarter results just released is fantastic.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by Dumsky(m): 6:03am On Jan 19, 2007
The excess funds i would guess is the balance in the investors account after an order has been executed and the call rate is the interest paid for investing the money. Brilliant idea i must add. Kindly correct me if i'm wrong.

By the way, Counterstrust now requires a minimum of N5million and not N1million to open an account with them. This can be verified from their website. It used to be a million.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by Dumsky(m): 5:56pm On Jan 15, 2007
If you visit the website www.counterstrust.com and subscribe to their daily updates, you'll be able to get the financial year end for all quoted companies on the exchange.
I don't think dividends for the alst zenith IPO has been distributed but i stand to be corrected.

@okejazz: From my understanding of P/E ratios, the lower the ratio the better and not the reverse(at least from most articles on stock broking). Just in case i didn't get your information right.

Happy investing,

Hello all. New to this forum but found it quite interesting.

To answer your question, from the time table, dangote shares should be listed by the end of march. On the merger issue, these banks actually have pre-merger performance records and actually have long time prospects. I wouldn't advise you go into any of them for the short term except if you have experience in trading and have developed your own trading system.

Regarding NAHCO, i don't have the slightest idea why it's rallying for now but I'll definitely let you know when i do.
