We're one says Akueme as maf Palliates Hausa Community in Enugu State

Just like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which research finds to be the biggest private foundation in the world; the Maurice Akueme Foundation has joined the league of givers without seize or season.

It is out of service to humanity that the Maurice Akueme Foundation visited the Hausa/Fulani community in the industrial city of 9th mile yesterday.

The MAF mobile food bank commencing services to the indigent had visited the Hausa/Fulani community with a bus load of food stuffs(Rice and Noodles).

The National coordinator of the Maurice Akueme Foundation Hon Mike CJ Madu(Gburuchi) while making the presentation on behalf of MAF encouraged the Hausa people to continue to be peaceful, law abiding and not to allow their good name to be brought to mud by a few selfish persons.

Gburuchi said that the palliatives is not a government provided palliatives but an individual effort in a bid to compliment the hard work and all inclusive, grand governance style of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Chief Maurice Emeka Akueme who witnessed the presentation via video chat submitted thus;

"We are one in the sight of Allah, we are brothers and sisters and launching our mobile food bank with you is very thoughtful hence and informs how much we love your people who are peaceful.

Abubakar Isah who spoke on behalf of the Hausa Community said they are glad to receive such gift from an individual and/or an independent organization.

He said it is one of the first since the dive into post covid 19 era and the first since the beginning of the Christian season, he thanked Chief Maurice Emeka Akueme for remembering and including a people like them in his list of goodwill and service to humanity.

The chief Imam who blessed the gathering prayed that goodwill shall never lack in #maf,, he prayer long life for the founder/president of MAF and all who key into the focal points, objectives of #maf

Over 200 representatives of the entire Hausa/Fulani community were present to receive the palliatives on the communities behalf.

In recent time #maf has become the first organization to visit the Hausa community since the start of yuletide season.

The Council has penned down its reaction and signed by the Council's Secretary General Comrade Arum Sorpuluchukwu Emmanuel expressing her sadness towards the incessant killing of Ejike who was shot on the chest by a careless police officer.

In his message for the Council titled 'NACESS MOURNS" the Secretary stated thus in parts;

"It is with heavy heart that we the National Executive Council(NEC) of the National Council of Enugu State Students (NACESS) writes all indigenous students of our dear state.

"Today 24th October, 2020 will forever be a day of grief pain as the Council lost one of it's own to the ravaging unrest that has beseech our peaceful state.

We also wish to state categorically that every form of violence, destruction of property (private or public) should be highly shunned by all well meaning student and students of our dear State.

Ejike Okeke a Computer Science student of Institute of management and Technology Enugu was shot at the early hours of Saturday.

We gathered from reliable sources that he was shot at his working place at Juhel fuel station located at mkponkiti junction by presidential road Enugu.

Before his death, he served as pump attendant according to our sources.

Popularly called Simple by his school mates and Keke by some is an ND 1 Computer Science student of Institute of Management and Technology from Akama Oghe in Ezeagu Local Government Area.

On the other hand, the council also wishes to seize this medium to call on all relevant authorities to intervene on the extra judicial killing of her two students.

Recall that on 20th October, 2020, the council also recorded the loss of its member Comr. Anthony Okechukwu(Tonycruz).

Tony was a fresh graduate of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU) department of Human Resources Management.

Onah has reiterated his call on all the students of Enugu state to remain law abiding knowing that the peaceful protest which was staged by law abiding citizens has been hijacked by hoodlums and as such one's act during this season might be misinterpreted.

Nairaland / General / The Concept Of Njikokamma As Conferred On Maurice Emeka Akueme by Dynahy(m): 12:43pm On Sep 04, 2020
Njikoka is the African-Igbo philosophy of integrative humanism.

Integrative humanism is the philosophical orientation that sees reality as having both physical and spiritual dimensions, past and present; as well as harmonized framework in which seemingly opposed variables unite without contradiction to achieve progress and epistemic wholeness.

Being part of a community affects our daily life, attitude and character and greatly increases our power to act.

Njikoka is the act of coming together and integrating ourselves into a whole. It is having a place in one’s heart where every other persons dwell, for when you are in that place in me, and I am in that place in you, we are knitted by a strong bond into a whole. In like manner you share my pain and I share yours.

Igwebuike and Njikoka conform to the philosophy of “Ubuntu” (I am because we are). The Igbos express it by seeing yourself in me and I seeing myself in you.

Because I see myself in you, In Njikoka, the community is placed first before the self and the interest of others before one’s personal interest. All these are clearly evident in the lifestyle of Chief Maurice Emeka Akueme.

In Igwebuike, all the communal actions are participatory actions.

The essence of integrative humanism is to show that through insights we can provide answers to most of the questions that confront us in our daily lives by means of collective responsibility.

Integrative humanism is grounded on the Igbo cultural injunction “Njikokamma” which translates “To integrate is better than to disintegrate”. It is a human centered theory which derives its insights from the Igbo culture.

This is expressed in the Igbo axiom of “Anyûkô nmamîrî ônû ô gbaa ûfûfû” which is translated as “Unity is strength” bearing in mind that a tree cannot make a forest

(Otu osisi adîghî emebe ofîa).

We need other human beings in order to be human. An Igbo man will always convey by his words and actions the

philosophy of “Somadina” translated as “May I never be alone” approving that loneliness is undesirable, but collectivity is the greatest.

Now, relating The title Njikokamma to the bearer Chief Maurice Emeka Akueme; this title came amidst lots of controversy, however he scaled through not because he's in town to flaunt cash nor to bribe for it but because he had met the criteria spelt out so his followers and well wishers had to call out those involved in collating the list to do the needful. It was indeed a loud cry.

This cry showed "Njikota"; togetherness, oneness, unity, love.

The act of reviewing the list of inductees as a result of the outcry is one act which has proven that "Njikokamma"; togetherness, oneness, unity is best when you have gathered and sustained, maintained, managed and preserved your people and placing them first.

This title is well deserving to a man who have sketched out three ways in which he can reach the whole world, touch lives and uplift humanity through his Maurice Akueme Foundation (MAF).

The three focal points includes; to alleviate, to palliate, to empower.

Analysing the three focal points and how they have affected all aspects of life;

To alleviate;

To alleviate means to reduce the pain or trouble of something/someone; to make something less painful, difficult, or severe, maybe to reduce poverty rate, etc.

Other synonyms for alleviate are; lighten, diminish, abate, relieve, assuage.

To palliate;

To palliate means to lessen or to try to lessen the seriousness or extent of something by providing physical relief.

Other Synonyms for palliate are; extenuate, mitigate.

To empower;

To empower someone means to give them the means to achieve something or livelihood, for example to become stronger or more successful.

Empowering someone makes him/her stronger and more confident, especially in controlling their life and claiming their rights.

Other synonyms for empower are; equip, authorize, permit, warrant, commission.

Haven analysed on the three focal points, we take a shift into MAF's effects on lives drawn from its three focal points.

MAF have since its birth have seen to the welfare of Nigerians, and Enugu mostly.

MAF have provided health care services to many without any mutual relationship with the beneficiaries.

MAF have provided scholarship to students through its scholarship scheme.

MAF have been active on poverty alleviation.

MAF have provided palliatives, this is evident in MAF's visit to Mpigi province in Uganda, donation of IDP centers, donation of wheel chairs to the physically challenged.

In the wake of the ravaging pandemic, MAF donated health care equipments, contributed in curbing the spread and reducing hunger virus in cash and food stuffs, the most of all is erecting a food bank in his country home to serve his people, of which as it stands at the moment; this food bank is currently taking care of the poorest of the poor, the vulnerable in Udi local government area.

Njikokamma through his MAF have empowered both the youth and the old, he has taken hundreds of youths off the street by creating better alternatives and providing start up funds for the poor. This have gone a long way to reduce crime and other social vices in our society.

This and many more that are not mentioned here and more yet to come have clearly shown the love of Sir Maurice Emeka Akueme for the people over himself.

The title Njikokamma perfectly suits this man.

His definition as a person created by God falls in line with the title, his character, and personality all intertwined.

Here comes the Njikokamma 1 of Enugu State, aka ji obodo, ôbata obie, Dike eji eje mba, Omeruôra, Odoziobodo, Njikota Chief Sir Maurice Emeka Akueme.

Your induction into the prestigious Ohanaeze Ndigbo Hall of Honor on 29th August, 2020 is well deserved.

Keep doing good, greater heights you shall go.

Nairaland / General / Ohanaeze Ndigbo Celebrates Enugu At 29, Inducts Eminent Indigenes Into Ohanaeze by Dynahy(m): 11:04am On Sep 01, 2020
Ohanaeze Ndigbo had organized this program titled "Celebrating Enugu State at 29 and 2020 Induction Ceremony of eminent Indigenes of Enugu State into Ohanaeze Hall of Honor" – in celebration of the creation of Enugu State 29 years ago.

The epoch making event of Ohanaeze Ndigbo the apex Igbo Organization which was held on 29th August, 2020 saw many dignitaries inducted into the Ohanaeze Hall of Honor with different titles following their individual rise towards a collective goal to curb hunger during the National lock down, strike and rise of the ravaging pandemic and other achievements.

Though it is not easy to get to the top of the apex of life, it however takes someone who distinguishes him or herself to get to the top of any sphere of life and that which distinguishes people from others have identified some indigenes of Enugu State as illustrious sons and daughters to being inducted into the most valued, prioritized, prestigious, respected and apex Igbo group.

We shall touch briefly the inductees, their profiles and how some of them made the meritorious list of the most prestigious Ohanaeze Hall of Honor according to the information gathered by a reliable source; Amb Enemoh Ikechukwu Chris who is a media expert and Public Affairs Analyst.

Find below the latest Who is Who of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Enugu State Chapter.

1. Sir Maurice Emeka Akueme inducted as "NJIKOKAMMA ENUGU STATE"

He is a UK based accountant, entrepreneur and philanthropist. Born on the 29th June, 1975 and hails from the Umuozolu in Amaebota Village in Ukana, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

He is the CEO of Mexol Group, which consists of Mexol Accounting Solutions Ltd, Mexol Business Solutions, Mexol Financial Services, Mexol Travel and Tours UK Ltd and also the Founder/President of The Maurice Akueme Foundation(MAF). The Maurice Akueme Foundation is a UK and Nigeria based Charitable foundation with the stated objective to alleviate, palliate and empower lives.

He is Patron to The National Council of Enugu State Students(NACESS), Grand patron to Enugu Progressive Forum(EPF) and Enugu West Widows, etc.

Maurice attended the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile – Ife where he bagged a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and also MBA(Finance).

He's a Fellow of the Association of International Accountants Worldwide, Fellow of the Institute of Financial Accountants(UK), Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants(Australia), He worked with GT Bank PLC rising to the position of branch operations manager before leaving Nigeria for the United Kingdom in 2005.

He's married to Olivia Ebubechukwu Akueme and they are blessed with five lovely children.

Maurice Emeka Akueme, as a philanthropist have touched the lives of many especially the downtrodden, the old, the orphans and the most vulnerable especially at the rise of the pandemic. There are still goal getters, silent achievers who never wanted their names to be heard, Emeka is however one of them from Enugu State who has impacted positively on the lives of people from the south east, south south, north central, northeast, Uganda, South Africa with plans to move farther, with his many silent goals.

Maurice through his foundation have been at the battle front on the prevention of the ravaging disease since its outbreak, MAF has put smiles on the faces of thousands in Nigeria both within and outside Enugu state to curb the outbreak that maybe caused by hunger and to prevent the deadly virus, bringing smiles on people's faces, it has gone into various communities to sensitize the people and support them with medical facilities, relief materials and palliatives with cash support and food stuffs such as yam, noodles, rice, etc.

Only to mention but a few, The Maurice Akueme Foundation (MAF) has distributed over 5,000 bottles of Sanitizers, gloves and face masks customized with the MAF.

The foundation has given out cash value to over 100 indigent and most vulnerable families in Ukana, Eke, Okpakwume, Awhum communities in the Udi local government area with each family receiving at least N5, 000, while N100, 000 donation was made to the Nachi community in the Udi local government area.

The Maurice Akueme Foundation team on covid-19 have also donated food stuffs worth hundred of thousands to indigent and most vulnerable families in Awgu, Oji River, Nenwe, Affa, Ezeagu and many other communities and local governments in Enugu State and beyond.

Just recently, the Maurice Akueme Foundation has leveraged the disabled by identifying them and issuing them wheelchairs with capital to start up a business, offset bills for eye tests and surgeries.

The massive love on him from his community has geared love from many other neighbouring communities just as the saying goes "charity begins at home". This massive love is a reciprocate of his unflinching love showered upon his community in particular on the rise of the pandemic.

These among many have distinguished Maurice Akueme, bringing him to the list of inductees into Ohanaeze Hall of Fame.

My Opinion: There has been rumours that he could been nursing political interest or eyeing a political position, these though has not been confirmed yet but in my own opinion; he has done so much for his people in Ukana, Enugu and beyond, he has impacted lives and he has since touched lives and also being a Citizen of Nigeria deserves and maintains every citizenry right(s) to run for any political position, to vote and to be voted for, however being that he hasn't declared interest to run for any position, I enjoin him to begin now to think towards it considering him as a man with the large heart to shower love upon his people if given the opportunity, on the other hand I wish to call on all well meaning citizens of Enugu State to look out for resourceful and illustrious sons and daughters who have distinguished themselves and encourage them to vie for electable positions.

If more persons can be like Maurice, Enugu State will be a heaven to dwell in.

2. Prince Lawrence Ezeh inducted as "OMERE OHA ENUGU STATE"

He is the first son of His Royal Majesty, Igwe and Lolo E.M.O Ezeh(JP), the Ozulumba 1 of Mburubu kingdom, in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. Born 1970, he attended Community Primary School Mburubu, Nara boys secondary school, then Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Mkpolu in Port Harcourt where he bagged a B–Tech degree.

He later proceeded to Enugu State University of Science and Technology where he bagged a Mater's Degree in Engineering Management. He has also received an Honorary Doctorate Degree(Ph.D) in community development from the Federal School of Dental Technology and Therapy, Enugu.

He is the founder of Buzuzu Group of Companies situated in Port Harcourt which mothers civil Engineering, road construction works, oil and gas, etc.

He is a member Nigerian Society of Engineers and International Marine Contractors Association.

Prince and his Mrs has also founded the Prince and Princess Scholarship Foundation, founded with the aim of catering for indigent students. The scholarship award which started about five years ago now has about 67 beneficiaries who have been placed on total scholarship until they graduate from secondary school.

His love for his community has led to various developments in his community which only few shall be stated here; the extension of electricity to all the villages in Mburubu, the rehabilitation of Ojorowo Bridge linking Ugbawka-Nara-Mburubu and Nomeh communities of Nkanu East, the reconstruction of the Nvuna bridge in Nomeh community, recently constructed a 4.5km Asphalt Mburubu internal roads with street lights.

In 2011, he indicated interest in becoming the Nkanu East Local Government Area Chairman, thought he didn't get the opportunity to serve.

In 2019, he ran for elections and emerged the APC candidate for Enugu East Senatorial Zone but lost to Senator Chimaroke Nnamani.

He has since continued to pour out his personal funds towards the well being of his community.

Prince Ezeh is married to Barr. (Princess) Linda Onyekachi Ezeh and the marriage is blessed with a set of triplets, two boys and a girl.

My Opinion:

The Prince as he's fondly called has also done so much for his community and the entire Nkanu Land.

Commendable enough he had shown his interest in politics, and should be given then opportunity to do more. If a man can develop his community with his personal fund, it shows how wise he can be to develop his place with public funds(funds meant for the people).

On this ground, I want to encourage the entire Nkanu land to locate this man who has distinguished himself from others before the cabals colonizes him and then represent him who had presented himself to the people back to the people.

Price of Mburubu from all indication did not stop doing what he's known for even when he was not given the opportunity to serve his people in a better opportunity.

Prince Lawrence Ezeh is another man to reckon on in Nkanu Land and Enugu State at large.

3. Prince Nnaemeka Bertrand Ugwu inducted as "Obata–Obodo-adi-Mma Enugu State"

He is the founder and the astute brain behind the success of Nemel Pharmaceuticals Limited. Born into the family of HRH Igwe Princewill Ugwu (Ochiagha 1 of Akpoga Imilike) and Lolo Felicia Ugwu. He is a philanthropist, and oil business mogul.

He attended Central Primary School Nsukka, and later proceeded to St. Theresa's College Nsukka. He was admitted into the Department of Pharmacy, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he obtained bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.

Nnaemeka demonstrated an early affinity for manufacturing and started Nemel Pharmaceuticals from a humble beginning at the temporary site in Trans Ekule, Enugu and has built the company to her envious position currently.

He is a member with Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria(PSN) and also an active member with Manufacturers Association of Nigeria(MAN).

Prince Nnaemeka has broad/robust knowledge in human capital development. He is a prudent manager of financial and human resources, highly courageous, passionate, determined and public spirited.

Prince Nnaemeka is a result oriented, decisive, seasoned and visionary CEO with proven success in new market I sent imbrications, track record of increasing product development and has demonstrated the ability to effectively lead organization generating annual revenues that is applaudable. He is focused on synchronization of individual and organization objectives with the empowerment of staff members, to maximize accomplishments and enhance customer/client satisfaction.

He is happily married with kids.

In the break of the ravaging pandemic Prince Nnaemeka eased the scarcity of drugs for treatment and materials for prevention of the pandemic worth millions, in his community, he contributed so much to curb hunger virus.

My Opinion:

Prince Nnaemeka is indeed a personality to figure out soon for any political position, he can do better if given an opportunity to serve.

As a result of the many long profiles of other inductees, we may not be able to narrate all profiles, we have picked at least one personality we talked about above from each Senatorial zone while the rest shall be listed below.

Other inductees includes;

3). Dr. Tom Omeh inducted as "OCHENDO ENUGU STATE".

4). Chief Aloysius Ogbonna Jnr inducted as " IKEMBA ENUGU STATE"
