Gajagojo: You are the one disgracing yourself So speaking Igbo makes them Igbo?
Why not claim to be English because you speak English
Is every Hausa speaker a Hausa person??
Igbo was a Lingua Franca during and after the slave trade because of population of Igbo slaves who were the most in those parts
Just like Hausa in Northern Nigeria.
While the real Ikwerre people know the truth, some are pushing for Ohaneze leadership, it's Yoruba folks who are energized, crazed, and obsessed with this Ikwerre is not Igbo argument. The average Igboman really doesn't care about Ikwerre, but na yoruba man go carry am for head.
mrvitalis: They have confused you by making you believe ESN and their sponsored UGM are the same
Did you really think the sponsors of herdsmen would allow ESN work freely without fighting bank
Maybe you have forgoten how bad Fulani herdsmen issue was
Good point. Thank you for the honesty. People playing tribal politics with security are unwittingly preparing for attack to happen to them sooner or later.
Gajagojo: Ikwerre never swore any such oath They formed Ogbakor Ikwerre before Ohanaeze
If they considered themselves Igbos
WHY DID THEY GO TO THE WILLINKS COMMISSION
Which other Igbo group went there?
This was even before independence and long before Biafra War
Willinks commission was about all those who felt Igbos were taking their opportunities- Ijaws, Efiks, Cameroonians, Igbos and non Igbos. Ikwerre had complained about Akwiwu being made mayor of PH, and other nonsense issues. You still haven't answered why Ikwerre grandfathers claimed to be Igbos, especially when PH was under Owerri. Before you go into childish denial of what Ikwerre grandfathers called themselves, note that there's documents showing their applications for jobs in Enugu and Owerri.
So sad, a miniature and inconsequential group will focus attention on themselves with this irrelevant discussion. Igbos don't need Ikwerre, but Ikwerre needs Igbos.
All these institutions in the north makes me wander, what's be benefit to the average Hausa or middle belt man who has been dominated, abused, and used as tissue paper by the Fulani? "North" is an invocation the smart Fulani makes any time he seeks political relevance, why don't other northerners understand that?
Bala Mohammed is a smart Fulani supremacist who will do anything to divert attention from his feud with Tinubu and the 400 million naira computer scandal. While child trafficking is bad and an evil, politicizing it with a tribal dog whistle helps nobody except the politicians.
buckeyemedia: Was Calabar prison the property of Eastern Nigeria, or The Republic of Nigeria?
Childish question, lacking seriousness. Historical events are objective, verifiable, and simple facts with little room for subjective manipulation. For example, Nigeria got her independence on Oct 1st 1960- fact! The first coup was 1966- fact! 2nd coup was s few months later - fact! Calabar was in eastern Nigeria, and later Biafran city- fact! Awolowo was held in Calabar- fact Ojukwu was governor of eastern Nigeria, and later Buafran head of state- fact!
Go read up a small history and come back to join the discussion, you hear!
While tribal maggots infest this thread and spew venom, let's take a realistic view of the situation: 1. Capital punishment in African school system has been the norm for too long, and needs to be changed. 2. Kindergarten and primary school teachers need to be properly trained and licensed. 3. The school itself that had tolerated and possibly encouraged this behavior must also be brought to book. 4. Government needs to review the licensing of these sub standard schools on a yearly basis. 5. Criminal prosecution of untrained teachers serves mostly a spectator needs, these teachers need to be barred from teaching and interacting with children. 6. Out of every bad teacher caught on tape, there 9 others doing the same or even worse to our children. 7. Bad teachers, criminals, and evil people abound in every tribe, race, religion, and group. Making this another tribal bashing thread doesn't help the kids abused by untrained teachers in unlicensed schools.
Apart from drama, PR, and politics, how did Calabar prison transition into Ikoyi prison? Who facilitated the transfer from the Biafran prison in Calabar to the pomp and pageantry of Ikenne, and the so called PR event at Ikoyi prison?
That's probably the last time our legislative arm of government was truly independent. Given what we have today, I am not sure OBJ 3rd term agenda was too bad after all.
Religion remains the opium of society, but it's worse when you go from basic religious doctrine to swallowing the culture and tradition of the spreading nation, whether it be Arabic or Roman to the detriment of your own indigenous cultures. Independence for anyone?
olabrad: It is saddening that many Yoruba Muslims do not know that Sharia law has little to do with religion. It has everything to do with tradition and culture of the Arabs before Islam started.
If you are a Yoruba Muslim and you are rejoicing over imposition of Sharia law on Yoruba land, you are simply saying you want your Yoruba culture to be replaced with pre-islamic Arab culture and tradition.
There is no better definition for an Omo Àlè, Akótilétà than that. Only an Omo àlè Yoruba will say his culture and traditions are less important than that of Arabs.
Only an Omo àlè Yoruba will fight tooth and nail to get Sharia law imposed on Yoruba land.
You Yoruba Muslims may think you are promoting Islam, but you are actually manifesting mental slavery. Some of you even boast that non-Muslim Yorubas are not your Omo Ìyá. You think the only omo ìyá you have are your fellow Muslims from around the world.
The consequence of that is that you feel more connected to Muslim Fulanis and Arabs than your fellow Yoruba people because of a foreign religion that is not yours, according to Quran 14:4, which says Muhammad was only sent to Arabs and not any other tribe!
As a result of that, if Muslim Arabs or Fulanis want to invade Yoruba land, you will open the door to these invaders because of religion.
This makes you Yoruba Muslims clear enemies of the Yoruba People.
Yorubas are known as hospitable people, but you Yoruba Muslims are destroying this hospitality identity of this wonderful tribe because of a foreign religion/culture.
TheNiceGuy and all Yoruba Muslims promoting this evil, posterity will not be kind to you. Threatening me or anybody won't stop you from getting the consequences of your evil actions against the Yoruba Tribe.
Good point my brother, but let's see how fast someone labels you omo Igbo, ipod, or obedient !!!
helinues: Provide your proofs and stop making baseless accusations/allegations
Any society where the rich and powerful get used to victimizing the poor only sets itself on a time clock for revolution- sometimes bloody---historical antecedents.
Is the CJN not the same rogue judge who wrote that a 4th place finisher in an election be put in office in Imo state; over ruling the people's mandate? The World doesn't expect much from her in terms of reform and honesty.
naijaking1: Security check points are occasional counter measures to stop crime, arrest criminals, or investigate crime. The effectiveness of security check points disappear if it is not sudden and unexpected. Let's take example from how check points are managed in developed cities, like Atlanta in order to be effective. Area A has a busy road say, Fulton Industrial Blvd. Security officers suspect illegal activities by motorists plying the road. They set up 2 positions: first one is the primary check point where all vehicles are stopped, the drivers interviewed, and a few are searched. The second position is about a mile behind the first position, and their job is to arrest all motorists trying to evade the first check point. These check points are spontaneous and unannounced, lasting about 1hr before the officers either go home or go to another location. There's never a situation where you have a permanent check point known to everyone, including the criminals who can easily bypass it. So, why do we have permanent check points in Nigeria? Because, the area has been partitioned for tax, toll collection by the presiding officers, like the DPO, or army captain who had paid heavily to some higher officer for the favor of being allowed to manage these toll gates. Some people say that the officers at these toll gates check points make daily or weekly returns to the boss in Abuja. This allegation appears to be true since these higher officers know that permanent check points are not effective crime control methods, yet they turn blind eyes to the peoples complain.
Bar1941: My friend, the world had moved beyond those level. They can learn electronically. He and his colleagues should make life meaningful to the educators and leave book purchasing for the Librarian.
Sarcasm and ungrateful behavior wouldn't take you anywhere. These are GIFTS, not taxation, nor dues. or penalty. Have you checked whether these books were electronic books, or not? Bad attitude, so sad.
Watch out and see how some people will argue for these evil check points, because they think it doesn't affect them now. In the future when the practice becomes "normalized" and affects their own region, then they will start shouting when it's already late.
