Two organs of the United Nations (UN) have denounced an ultimatum issued by members of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum for demanding that Igbo resident in all parts of northern Nigeria vacate the area by October 1, 2017. The two UN bodies also condemned death threats targeting members of Nigeria’s Igbo ethnicity.
On June 6, 2017, the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum issued the ultimatum at a press conference in Kaduna, capital of Kaduna State. Despite calls by Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna for the arrest of those who issued the ultimatum, the police and other security agencies declined to act.

Last week, the Arewa Youth Forum formally withdrew the ultimatum, with some of its members citing pressure from President Muhammadu Buhari for their soft-pedaling.
However, in a statement released in Geneva, Switzerland on August 25, 2017, the office of the UN Human Rights described the ultimatum to the Igbo to flee the north as a matter of “grave concern.”
The UN experts who issued the report on the plight of the Igbo also voiced concerns over an anti-Igbo hate song and audio message that had gone viral on social media. The hateful message, which is spoken in Hausa, encourages northerners to destroy Igbo property in the north and kill Igbo who fail to leave by October 1. The UN experts said they were “gravely concerned about this proliferation of hate messages and incitement to violence against the Igbo and their property, especially considering the previous history of such violence.”
The experts urged the Nigerian government to “be vigilant, as hate speech and incitement can endanger social cohesion and threaten peace by deepening the existing tensions between Nigeria’s ethnic communities.”
After noting that some local and national officials, as well as media reps, had condemned the ultimatum, the UN experts said they were worried by some officials’ silence. “We are deeply concerned that some prominent local leaders and elders have not condemned the ultimatum, hate speech, and the perpetrators,” said the UN statement. It added: “We call on the Government, media and civil society representatives, and local and religious leaders, to reject and condemn hate speech and incitement to violence unequivocally and in the strongest possible terms.”
The UN also demanded an official investigation of those behind the incitement to violence in order to unmask the perpetrators for prosecution and punishment. According to the UN, those to be identified must include “the people behind the ultimatum and those responsible for the creation, publication, and circulation of the hate song and audio message.”
The UN experts who authored the statement included Mr. Mutuma Ruteere, Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, Mr. Fernand de Varennes, Special Rapporteur on minority issues, and Ms. Anastasia Crickley, Chairperson of the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
Following the UN experts’ report, the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination held its 93rd session between July 31 and August 25, 2017. Acting under its “Early Warning and Urgent Action Procedure,” the Committee said it was deeply concerned “by the rise of racist hate speech and incitement to violence against the Igbo people, including through the recording and wide distribution of a song and audio message in Hausa language which describe the Igbos in hateful and derogatory terms.” It added that the Committee was “Alarmed by the public ultimatum issued by a number of northern youth groups, forums, and coalitions on 6 June 2017 calling all Igbos in northern Nigeria to leave their homes by 1 October 2017,” noting that the ultimatum “may have been recently withdrawn.”
The Committee decried “reports that other local elders and leaders have endorsed the ultimatum and expressed their support for such racist hate speech targeting and threatening the Igbos,” adding that it was “deeply worried by the information that some Igbo families have already started moving out from their villages and homes in northern Nigeria to avoid any possible harm to their personal integrity.”
The UN body drew attention to Nigeria’s membership of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and of the African Union as well as a State party to the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights. It stated that Nigeria must “increase its efforts in systematically rejecting and condemning, including by high-level and local public officials and leaders, any form of racist hate speech, incitement to hatred and violence, and the dissemination of ideas of ethnic superiority.”
The UN body recommended that Nigeria “take immediate action to stop and prevent the continued circulation and dissemination of the hateful song and audio message mentioned above,” and “to exercise due diligence to halt, prevent and investigate acts of racist hate speech and incitement to hatred and violence against the Igbo people, in accordance with international human rights standards, with a view to bringing perpetrators to justice, punishing them adequately if convicted, and compensating victims.”
The UN Committee urged Nigeria to “ensure the protection of all its citizens from ethnic hatred, and take effective measures to ensure that Igbo people can fully exercise their rights stipulated in the Convention, including the right to security of person and protection against violence or bodily harm, the right to freedom of movement and residence, and the right to own property.”
It finally called on “all local and national authorities in Nigeria to promptly and firmly address the underlying causes of the ethnic tensions in Nigeria, with a view to avoiding repeated ethnic-based violence, and to promote intercultural dialogue between different ethnic groups based on diversity, respect, and inclusiveness.”
According to the Committee, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights had been mandated “to draw the attention of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union to the human rights situation of the Igbo in northern Nigeria.”

At no time had Enugu people denied the existence of Idomas and Igalas in Etteh.

The bone of contention is that Etteh must remain in Enugu state, and not moved to Kogi state, like some Igala elements in that town want to, since there are also indigenous Igbo people that are part of Etteh town.

T he decomposed body of one of the two missing undergraduate students of the Adeyemi College of Education (ACE), Ondo State, has been found at a ritualists’ hideout in Ondo State, SaharaReporters has learned.
The body was found over the weekend by detectives attached to the Ondo State Command of the Nigerian Police following a week-long investigation and intelligence gathering.
In July 2017, authorities of ACE in Ondo State declared two students of the tertiary institution missing after they could not be found in their private hostels.
The names of the two missing students were given as Semilore Oloruntimilehin of the agricultural department and Oladapo Blessing Oluwaferanmi of the biology department.
Femi Joseph, the spokesman of the police in Ondo State, told SaharaReporters on Sunday afternoon that the body of one the missing students was found over the weekend.
Mr. Joseph revealed that the young woman’s body was discovered following the arrest and interrogation of two middle-aged men who were earlier nabbed for robbery but later confessed to kidnapping one of the missing students for ritualistic purposes.
The police spokesman, however, told SaharaReporters that police have yet to identify the body due to its decomposition.
“Our men cannot ascertain the name of this student because her body has already been decomposed and was also mutilated by the assailants who are in our custody as I speak with you.
“Don’t forget that two of the female students of the school were reported missing by the school authorities here in our station, but we have been able to find one of them.
“We have already contacted the school through the parents of these two missing students to visit the command in order to know whose daughter has been found by the police detectives.
“As I speak, two men have been arrested in connection with the crime and in fact, they have confessed to killing the female student for money rituals, although we are still digging for more information.
“During the course of our investigation, it was revealed that they (assailants) were actually three in number, but one of them fled from the town upon noticing the arrest of his other partners in the crime, but we will get him soon,” he assured.
The police spokesman vowed that the two suspects would soon be charged to court after police complete their investigation.
He urged students to be wary of the type of friends they meet with on campus and specifically advised the parents to monitor the activities of their children while in school and outside the house.
A student of the institution who pleaded not to be named also confirmed the sad incident to Sahara Reporters in Akure.
“We still don't know which missing student has been found by the policemen because I learned that her body could not be recognized and had been decomposed,” the student said.
Some student sources at the Adeyemi College of Education had recently complained that their female colleagues were being used for ritual purposes in Ondo State by wealthy men.

THE Ondo State Police Command are trying to uncover the role of a herbalist and three suspected ritualists, who murdered and mutilated two female students of Adeyemi College of Education in the state for money rituals.
Vanguard gathered that the victims, Oladepo Blessing and Oluwasemilore Mary, had been missing for over a week before their decomposing and mutilated bodies were discovered by Police detectives.
The victims allegedly left their residences and did not return, following which their friends raised the alarm.
Reports had it that one of the suspected ritualists was arrested in a robbery operation in Ondo town and his confession led to the arrest of the other two suspects.
They reportedly confessed of their various criminal escapades in recent time across the state.
Vanguard gathered that they later led Police detectives to where the decomposing and mutilated bodies of the victims were dumped.
Upon further investigations, the suspects confessed that they abducted and murdered a female student for rituals.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident, adding that the mutilated and decomposing bodies of the students have been recovered by detectives who are interrogating the two suspects.
According to Joseph, the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
He added: “We have arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of the victim for money ritual. They include John Adenikiri, also known as Emir ; Fisayo Fasanu, Abore , and a herbalist Alfa Abdurafiu.”
Joseph explained that Adenikiri and Fasanu confessed that they sold the mutilated bodies to Abdurafiu, who used them for ritual.
He added that Adenikiri and Fasanu were arrested in Ondo town, while Abdurafi was arrested in Ore, Odigbo Local Govern-ment Area of the state.

W ith the return of President Muhammadu Buhari from London, United Kingdom, where he spent 104 days receiving medical treatment, the cabal in the Presidency has again gained control of power and influence, SUNDAY PUNCH has learnt.
Penultimate Saturday, the President returned to the country to a warm reception by jubilant Nigerians, who thronged the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja and the roads leading to Aso Villa. Thousands of Buhari’s well-wishers also took to the streets in other parts of the country to rejoice over his long-awaited return.
The Buhari presidency has been dogged by persistent rumors and speculation that a group comprising some members of the President’s extended family and friends are the powers behind the throne. This group is said to have the ear of the President, influence policy-making and determine those who get major appointments.
Among those identified as being members of the cabal were: the President’s nephew, Mamman Daura; the father to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (Muhammed Bello) Musa Bello; the President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari; Samaila Isa Funtua and a few others.
While Buhari was away, Osinbajo who stood for him as Acting President held sway and won the admiration of many Nigerians and foreigners for the life he injected into government. Although the Vice President was said to have consulted the President in London before taking major decisions, he reportedly did not consult the members of the cabal whose influence ebbed considerably during the period.
A source who is close to the president said, “While Buhari was away, they tried to ensure that Osinbajo was not in control of the government, by keeping away information from Osinbajo. Kyari’s main job in the villa is to make Osinbajo look bad.”
However, with the return of the President, the cabal is said to be back in power. Reliable sources who are privy to the goings-on in the corridors of power described the President’s return as ‘bittersweet’.
They claimed that with the President’s return, the cabal had taken over again.
“They seem to have a disproportionate influence on what he (Buhari) does, what he says, and who he appoints. This cannot be in doubt; it is the fact of the matter,” one of the sources said.
Speaking with SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday, a former member of the House of Representatives in the Second Republic, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, confirmed the return of the cabal.
He said, “Off the cuff, one must mention Mamman Daura because he’s the kingpin and, in actual fact, he wields more power than the President. He knows; the President knows and those of them who are in government also know. After him, you have to mention the father to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Musa Bello.
“The son was made a minister, even though he has always been a card-carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party. And, in fact, he was chairman of the National Hajj Commission for four years in a PDP administration. Then, when Buhari won, they made him a minister. Also, you have to mention the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, who is the pre-eminent lackey and errand boy of the mafia. You also have to include one character called Dr. Mahmud Tukur, the younger brother of Bamanga Tukur.

“Essentially, you can say that between the Buhari administration and the Kaduna Mafia is a revolving door. Once you come from the Kaduna Mafia, you occupy a very important position and there is no doubt about that — the same revolving-door policy was operated when he (Buhari) was Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund.
“The names I mentioned are the prominent members of the Kaduna Mafia. Again, it is not a (definitive) list because they keep coming in and out. But one thing about them is that they believe they have a divine right to dominate the North, and if they dominate the North, (they believe) they have a divine right to dominate Nigeria.”
Speaking also, a chieftain of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, who also said he was a member of the famed Kaduna Mafia, confirmed the existence of the cabal and its undue influence on the President. He added that the most powerful member of the group had always exerted a great deal of influence on Buhari right from his days as a military head of state.
According to him, Gen. Tunde Idiagbon, Buhari’s lieutenant during his time as a military head of state, often complained about the hold that Daura had on Buhari.
“Since his days as the military head of state, Buhari has been under the influence of Daura. It was because of the funny ways Daura and his people acted during Buhari’s regime that led IBB to overthrow him. You know what? Even Tunde Idiagbon complained about Mamman Daura.
“Whenever we went to Lagos in those days, we spent some time in his house and discussed national issues. Idiagbon discussed with us most of the actions he was taking then. Idiagbon said people like Daura were manipulating him (Buhari),” Abdulrahman disclosed.
Mohammed added that the cabal perfected a strategy that had helped them to sideline the vice president. “What they do is, they make sure they second-guess Osinbajo, what he’s going to do and then they go ahead and get Buhari to commit to a contrary opinion or a contrary line of action. They first try to see what he is likely to do; they don’t go and tell Buhari, ‘This is what Osinbajo is planning to do.’ They get Buhari to commit — sometimes, publicly — to a view, policy or thrust, which is contrary to what Osinbajo has been trying to bring up as a policy. They do that by frustrating him (the vice president) and making sure that he doesn’t have his way.”
However, the elder statesman did not spare the vice president, whom he said was attracting self-inflicted problems to himself.
“Osinbajo is a victim of his blunders because his advisers are tribal. It is a church cabal. He doesn’t have balanced opinions coming from all parts of the country. So, he ends up making some terrible blunders and they (Buhari’s cabal) find it easy to checkmate him.”
Expressing his fears for Buhari’s administration’s capacity to succeed, the ACF chieftain said.
“With the cabal still in the Villa, there is no way Buhari will succeed as a president. It is not for nothing that Aisha (the First Lady) cried out. Do you remember when she spoke about the hyenas and the jackals? They are the ones controlling Buhari now. The President must muster courage and drive away the cabal he has surrounded himself with. The cabal is a bunch of hustlers, fleecing the president and his family. They are not human beings. They are not interested in Buhari’s success.”
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, told SUNDAY PUNCHthat he would not react to the claim, while the Senior Special Assistant to the Acting President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, could not be reached as he did not respond to phone calls and messages.

His only plan for Biafra was an unconstitutional referendum, yet he took pleasure in insulting other regions that would help achieve that purpose, to Amend the constitution of Nigeria requires 2/3rd majority of parliament and all the states house of Assemblies, if Buhari gives him a nod for a constitutional amendment, how does he expect a Sokoto house of Assembly he called "Pedophiles" to support that cause?
How about the Lagos state HA when he called Awolowo unprintable names?


What about his so called Referendum? the United nations have since stopped recognising regional but national referendum, that's why they insist on nations to have it in their constitution before executing it, while the scottish referendum (national) was ratified, the crimea (regional) was not, should you succeed in constitutional amendment, North and SW will never give you their votes even if they want to, at least as a punishment for the insult you gave them, that's the real world for you.

Nnamdi kanu must not be allowed to get away with his ill thought out and illogical plan this time around, enough is enough!!
