*1. It is not only about greed*
This outcome reflects what a few active APC members wanted. In many places, some citizens are simply more comfortable being followers than challengers. When only party loyalists show up, the party’s candidates will always win. That is basic arithmetic.

*2. Low turnout hands power back to the same families*
The voters who came out were mostly party members. When the masses stay home because “my vote won’t count,” we hand the field to those with structures, thugs, and state backing.
Politicians will continue to recycle themselves and keep offices within families if we allow intimidation, violence, and fear to keep people indoors.

*3. The Osun example*
We have seen it before. In Osun, when the masses came out in large numbers, their choice prevailed despite the pressure. High turnout beats tactics. Apathy guarantees the result.

*The way forward*
If we want different results in Ebonyi and across Nigeria, we must do 3 things:
1. *Show up to vote* - In every LGA election, not just presidential.
2. *Reject fear* - Thugs and security intimidation only work when we stay indoors.
3. *Demand internal democracy* - Parties must stop imposing candidates and treating public office as family inheritance.

Abuja is congested because everyone runs to the center. Our democracy is congested for the same reason: we all abandon the local level and complain later.

Ebonyi deserves leaders chosen by the people, not just by party structures. That starts with us.

_May our democracy grow beyond names and dynasties. May the people’s voice be the loudest.
