Ukrainians on Sunday strongly voted the incumbent president, Petro Poroshenko out to make a comedian their next president, thereby ushering in a new era of politics in the struggling country.

Volodymyr Zelensky popularly known as “Ze,” a famous comedian who played the role of Ukraine’s head of state for years on a popular comedy show, defeated the sitting president, Petro Poroshenko, who had been in power since 2014.

According to exit polls, Zelensky won a overwhelming 73 percent of the vote. Poroshenko conceded the race not long after polls closed.

Zelensky has never held any political position and as such, has no prior political experience and hasn’t offered an official plan on how he would govern. But he gave a populist, anti-corruption message during the campaign that clearly resonated with millions of Ukrainians suffering from poverty and government graft. That, adding with his previous celebrity, made him unbeatable during the Eastern European country’s election.

The question now is if he will keep to his promises to stamp out undue oligarch influence in Kyiv and turn Ukraine’s economic fortunes around. After all, the comedian has no prior political experience and didn’t offer a detailed governing blueprint during the campaign.

Ukrainians seems confident that Zelensky embodies the change they hope he can bring to a failing nation.

“Ukraine remains one of the poorest nations in Europe,” says Andreas Umland, an expert at the Institute for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation in Kyiv, who wrote for the European Council on Foreign Relations think tank on April 16.

The country’s poverty have led millions of Ukrainians to flee in search of greener pastures.

“Ukrainians just want a normal standard of living,” Haring told me, but “Ukraine has gotten poorer as Poroshenko has gotten richer.”

Award winning Commedian and actor Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, best known as “Ali Baba,” has expressed dissatisfaction and his opinion on the state of Nigeria’s economy.

The comedian said that the Nigerian constitution was framed up by the Military government and as such has no good impact on the masses.

He added that the now “Democratic Government” feels comfortable with it because of their selfish interest on the faulty constitution.

He cited an instance where a state government is responsible for the payment of salaries, not dependent of the federal allocation, nobody will want to be governor.

He also cited a time when a certain Nigerian law maker was suspended from the house because he opposed on the huge salaries and allowances earned by senators.

He concluded that the only way Nigeria can become a better nation is by amending her constitution.

Award winning Nigerian movie director, "Ifeanyi Oyeabor" is dead.

The cause of his death has not been revealed yet, meanwhile, the remains of the deceased has been taken to the mortuary pending the burial.

The President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, confirmed Onyeabor’s death on Saturday.

In his post he said, “The movie industry has been dealt another blow. Ifeanyi Onyeabor has died while shooting a movie in Jos, Plateau State.”

The deceased, Onyeabor will be mostly remembered for his popular ghetto movie titled, New Jerusalem, which he bagged an award at the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA).

Scores of lives claimed by a fuel tanker explosion in “Iwo road, Ibadan.” today 18th April 2019.

An eye witness at the scene, “Abdulazeez Hammed,” said that the explosion was as a result of a fuel tanker which fell and spilled its content, burnt no fewer than four vehicles.

Abdulazeez said he saw a man in one of the affected vehicles removing his child from the back of his wife when they saw the fire approaching their vehicle.

The witness had it that the husband escaped with the child while the fire caught the wife in the car and burnt her to death.

Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, also confirmed that two people lost their lives in the incident.

Fadeyi added that four vehicles and two motorcycles were also burnt.

The three suspects of internet fraud that allegedly impersonated veteran music icon, King Sunny Ade, and tricked unsuspecting members of the public of over N3.1 million, have been arrested by Lagos state police.

The alleged scammers, Lawrence Femi, aged 27, his girlfriend, Rebecca Oyebode, 23 and Oyewumi Abiodun, 27, were arrested Special Intelligence Bureau, SIB detectives, after King Sunny Ade made an official complain to the Commissioner of Police that some persons were using his identity to defraud innocent Nigerians.

Information reaching the police had it that the suspects created an InstagramFan Page using the handle “King Suny Ade Fan Page” which they used to make fake advert placement entitled KSA USA TOUR. They also requested interested persons to contact them.

Police sources has it that over 55 persons showed their interest and started making payments to the suspected fraudsters, which they claimed they were offering USA visa.

The source disclosed that the arrest was made through the tracking of the bank account with the name of the girlfriend who was used to open the account used for the fraudulent activities.

Statement given by the main suspect, 27-year-old Oyedokun Lawrence Femi, “I was arrested because I impersonated King Sunny Ade. I did that by creating a fan page with his name and pictures sometime last year. Early this year, I posted something on Instagram about KSA USA TOUR. I just posted it to make money.”

In Sunny Ade’s reaction, he said “They will say they are this and they got paid for visa. When it was getting too much for me, I had to invite the police to trace those behind the impersonation, so that my name would be cleared and people would know that I am not the person defrauding them.

“I have never done anything like that in my life and career. I am a law-abiding citizen of this country. So, I had to call the police to come and help me.” On how he felt when he heard that his name was being used to commit fraud, he stated:

“It was like someone loading a gun in your presence and corking it. I advise the police to help me recover all the money got from all the victims and refund it to them.

Advice for youths ” This is what I have been saying for a long time now; the youth should not be too ambitious in getting things that don’t belong to them. “Again, they need to have the fear of God in their heart and the fear of the nation and the law. Eventually, when you are doing things that are wrong, you will have to pay for it. Someone who has been doing business legitimately and you take advantage of their image to fleece victims of their hard earned money.

“This is not a matter of album; it is going to be more than an album. It is not only youths alone, we have to work with the family by way of educating them that they shouldn’t allow their kids to act as they like. “I plead with the federal, state and local government agencies to join hands and put an end to this menace. So far, I am satisfied with the police investigation.”

The Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery says government will soon introduce an Air Wing of the Ghana Police Service.

The minister in his speech said, the development is driven towards ensuring aerial surveillance and improving the work of the Police service.

Mr. Ambrose reiterated that Police already has a land and marine operations team, which will be complimented by the soon-to-be introduced Air Wing.

This comes shortly after President Nana Akufo-Addo announced the procurement of three helicopters to enhance the work of the police service.

Speaking at the West Africa Security Service Association (WASSA) of the Ghana Police Service last month, the President said there will also be training of Police personnel as pilots and engineers to propel the agenda.

Barely a week after Forbes ranked Nigeria as the Sixth Most Miserable Country In The World, the United nations has also released a list of countries with worst food indices in 2018.

According to the Global Report on Food Crisis, which was released yesterday in Brussels, the report revealed that countries with these food crises were primarily driven by conflict and climate-related disasters.

No fewer than 113 million people experienced high levels of food insecurity in the world’s most severe food crisis in history.

One of the major findings of the report showed that nearly two-thirds of those facing acute hunger were in just eight countries including; Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Nigeria, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

It is recorded that the countries with the worst food crises in 2018, in their order of severity, were: Yemen, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Sudan, South Sudan and northern Nigeria.

According to the report, “These eight countries accounted for two thirds of the total number of people facing acute food insecurity – amounting to nearly 72 million people.”

However, short-term projection of food insecurity for 2019 showed that “Yemen, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Sudan, South Sudan and northern Nigeria are expected to remain among the world’s most severe food crises in 2019.

It stated that “Large segments of populations in most of these countries risk falling into Emergency (IPC/CH Phase 4) levels of acute food insecurity.”

The report aslo added: “In the 16 states of northern Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, the number of people in ‘Crisis’ and ‘Emergency’ decreased by 40 percent between June and August 2017 and 2018 to 5.3 million.

“At the peak of the lean season three million were acutely food insecure in the three North-Eastern states affected by the Boko Haram insurgency where protracted conflict and mass displacement disrupted agriculture, trade, markets and livelihoods, and pushed up food prices,” said the report.

Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO)’s Director-General, José da Silva, said in spite of a slight drop in 2018 in the number of people experiencing acute food insecurity, “the figure is still far too high.”

Steve Hanke, an economist from John Hopkins University in Baltimore, has ranked Nigeria as the sixth most miserable country in the world.

The ranking is titled, “Hanke’s Annual Misery Index 2018: The World’s Saddest (And Happiest) Countries”

The economist writing in the Forbes Magazine of March 28, stated that in economics, misery tends to grows from high inflation, high interest rate and unemployment. while happiness tends to blossom when growth is strong, inflation and interest rates are low and job are in abundance.

Hanke, in his ranking placed Thailand at No. 95 out of 95 on the list which makes them the least miserable country in the world on the 2018 Misery Index.

Hungary is on the 94th position out of 95 which makes them the second least miserable country in the world from 2017 to 2018.

However, the economist went further to mention Venezuela as the most miserable country in the world as they have always been in 2015, 2016 and 2017. He blamed the countries situation on the failures of President Nicolás Maduro’s socialist, corrupt petroleum state which have been well documented over the past year and by his measurements of Venezuela’s hyperinflation. He added that not only is Venezuela the most miserable country in the world, but its Misery Index score has dramatically increased during the past year, as the economy’s collapse has accelerated.

Argentina is No. 2 on the list after yet another peso crises.

On the chart below, Nigeria is found on the No. 6 spot out of the 95 miserable countries in the world, which calls for proactive measures to be taken to move the countries economy out of her devastating situation.

The JunkHouse talented singer and song writer kicks off with the infectious afrobeat tune “Seribe” which expresses a man’s genuine love towards his female interest. The number was produced by 3ga Fingerz (A member of the JunkHouse In-House production team). We’ll be jamming this one all day and quite possibly forever.

Leke, is a glorious blend of contemporary afro pop with the zanku vibe and sound. This banger was produced by AY Beatz (Another member of the JunkHouse In-House production team) and mixed by Oneill Mix.

This songs should stake Deeno’s claim as one of the new and rare talents to hold down the top echelon of Africa’s pop, in the nearest future. Videos for both songs would be out soon.

Ex Big Brother Naija season 3 housemate gets other housemates emotional on the “Double Wahala Reloaded Reunion Show” as he explains why he acted the way he did in the Big Brother house.

He shares with other housemate that his mother is battling with Cancer and he needed to win the prize so as to enable him take care of his sick mum and also push his career forward.

He advises other housemates and viewers to always think before the act and never to act based on impulse.

“If its not gonna matter in 5 years, don’t spend more than 5 minuets being angry about it. And that was just the biggest lesson for me.” says K Brule
