Politics / What Oba Of Benin Told Buhari In Aso Rock Is Very Dangerious by Ebisco015: 10:26am On Nov 24, 2017
Oba of Benin, his Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolor, Oba Ewuware 11, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to provide the people of Edo State with infrastructural development, security, end human trafficking as well as complete the Benin-Auchi road.

He told Buhari that the problem of insecurity in the state was multidimensional and required Federal Government’s assistance.

The monarch said this during a meeting with the President at the Presidential villa, Abuja, on Thursday.

According to the monarch, “Mr president, what you are yet to do for us includes the areas of more infrastructural development, security, human trafficking and to complete Benin-Auchi road dualization.

“Human trafficking incidents are not reducing what NGOs (Non Governmental Organisations) are doing is merely palliative and at best scratching the surface. Some NGOs may even be in business for themselves. The Federal Government needs to assist Edo state to develop low to medium scale cluster industries or establish factories in each Local Government Areas, LGAs, to reduce unemployment and prompt urban to rural migration in order to decongest the centre for a very holistic development in Edo state.

“We command your Excellency in the manner you have been handling security issues in the country. In Edo state, security issues seemed to be multidimensional. in addition to the prevailing criminal activities of cultist killings, kidnappings etc, the activities of the so-called community development associations are crippling the economy of our state even much more.

“The Benin traditional authority has been relentlessly tackling the menace of community development associations that earned for themselves the disreputable name of community destructive associations.

“These networks of groups attack and are systematically destroying the normative and value system of our society and heritage. Their evil practices scare investors away.

“Our governor and the people of Edo state need more support from the federal government to effectively and decisively tackle the security challenges in our state.

“May I use this opportunity to appeal to your Excellency to kindly assist our state governor in dealing with the security challenges in the state.

“Finally, traditional rulers in the country play stabilising and developmental roles in the country particularly when there is crisis brewing at the grassroots. It is sad that the role of traditional rulers is yet to be reflected in the constitution of the country.

“Nigeria is a country strongly rooted in cultural blues and norms. May I use this opportunity to reassure government that traditional institutions will be used to strengthen the unity and development of Nigeria.

“The traditional institution will encourage Nigerians to go on with one Nigeria. We intend to continue to use culture to foster Nigeria image both in Nigeria and in the comity of nations.”

Politics / What Anambra Election Result Says About APC – Oyegun by Ebisco015: 9:51pm On Nov 23, 2017
National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun, has said that despite losing the recent Anambra governorship election, the Party’s performance clearly showed inroad is being made in the South East.

He stated this on Thursday while receiving some new entrants into the Party at the APC national secretariat, Abuja.

He said: “I consider that we have made a lot of gains in spite of not winning Anambra state.

“But it is clear if people interpret properly that the APC given the base from which we were starting, given the kind of intense propaganda that goes out there that the South East is against the APC – whether it is religion, ethnic or even historical – we have made some progress. But we are not resting on that.

“We are immediately setting up a team to study the elections, to look at whatever significant issues it has thrown up, to find ways in which we can improve our performance as we spread into the rest of the South East, basically to tell us what we did not do right in Anambra State which we need to correct as the electoral processes begin in the rest of the South East.

“We hope it will throw up valuable lessons that will help us perform much better in subsequent elections in the South East.

“For people to join us at this time is a clear indication that they understand what is going on and are ready to put their names, reputation, energies, and resources behind our effort to rebuild the country and be part of this process of change.

“This is a struggle that we must win. The nation cannot afford to lose, because greatness beckons and unless we get our act right, we are not going to get there.”

Crime / Man Kidnaps Girl He Met On Facebook To Raise Money For Wedding by Ebisco015: 8:03am On Nov 17, 2017
A-24 year old man, Micheal Duda, has said that he kidnapped his teenage girlfriend identified as Victory Aseguah with the intention of raising money for their wedding.

Micheal ‎stated this on Thursday when he was paraded alongside 104 suspects arrested for various crimes ranging from kidnapping, rape, armed robbery to cultism at the headquarters of the Edo Police Command in Benin, the Edo State capital.

He said the girlfriend just finished secondary school and there was no way he could approached the parents that he wanted to marry their daughter.

Speaking to journalists, Micheal said he kept the girl in his house for four days and asked her father to pay him the sum of N2m.

Micheal who said he sells dispensable cups admitted that he had sex with the girl all through the four days the girl spent in his house.

“I live at Ekae community off Sapele road. She came to my house. We planned to collect money from her father to raise money for our marriage but I did not collect the money again. She stayed in my house for four days.

“I couldn’t tell the father I want to marry his daughter. She said her father would not support the idea because she was yet to go to the university. She was with me for four days. The man said he has no money to pay. I was at home with the girl when police came and arrested me,” he said.

But Victory who was present at the parade said they met on facebook and after several days, she decided to visit him.

Victory said she was surprised that the boy kidnapped her when she got there and heard that the boy demanded for N4m from her father.

Rodha, the elder sister of Victory, said her sister was sexually abused before the police rescued her.

On the alleged plans to get married, she laughed saying, “My sister is 16 years old and has never slept outside before. She told me they met on Facebook and the boy professed love to her. When she went to the house, she said the boy hatched the plan and said he would collect N10,000 from our father but the boy demanded for N4m.

“He will lock her inside the house and called us threatening that he will kill her if we did not pay. He took advantage of my sister’s condition.

“She told me the boy is 21 and a student but she later saw that it was a lie. We took her for treatment after the rescue.”

Politics / Bianca Lays Curse On Peter Obi For Betraying Ojukwu by Ebisco015: 12:42pm On Nov 16, 2017
Former Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain and widow of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Bianca, has opened up on how the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, failed to sustain the legacies of the late Igbo leader in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Bianca said Obi rode on the wings of the late Ikemba Nnewi to the government house on the platform of APGA but he had abandoned it.

She took her anger to a new level by laying curse on her late husband’s protégée, thus asking ‘history to judge him harshly’.

He told Sun that, “APGA’s political credo revolves essentially around those principles championed by Ojukwu in the Ahiara Declaration which constitutes the benchmarks of a well-ordered society.

“Ikemba envisaged an administrative model with a dynamic policy for industrialisation which concentrates on the employment of primary products in various domestic manufactures, a government which creates possibilities for citizens with talent in business and civil administration, agriculture, technology, trade and commerce, to mention but a few, to fulfil themselves and receive their due reward and appreciation in service to the state.

“It is simple. I maintain that Peter Obi betrayed Dim Ojukwu, and tried to destroy APGA for his own selfish interests. He has continued to undermine Ojukwu’s personality and recently, he has gone ahead to desecrate his legacy. From relative obscurity, Obi was brought into national prominence when the leader, Ojukwu, through his party APGA, offered him an opportunity and platform upon which he ran and became governor of Anambra State.

“Ojukwu sacrificed so much and laboured for him to become governor. He (Ojukwu) was fiercely protective of him and helped him overcome the various challenges that confronted him. Peter Obi had a difficult first tenure and stepped on so many toes that the majority of our party faithful were adamant that he should not be nominated for a second tenure. Yet Ojukwu stood by him when it mattered most, jeopardised his health by traversing all the local governments in a rigorous campaign on his behalf and begged the people of Anambra State to grant him a last wish by returning Obi for a second term.

“This feat was achieved for the first time in Anambra State’s history on 6th February 2010. Peter Obi swore to Ojukwu, upon his honour, that he would never abandon APGA; that he would quit politics or die; rather than leave APGA, and that he would preserve this legacy as a potent voice and rallying point for Ndigbo.

“History will judge him (Obi) harshly because the truth of the matter is that it is his pathological fear of political redundancy and oblivion that is now driving him dangerously close to the precipice from where he will soon commit political suicide. The people of Anambra State cannot be hoodwinked as they are determined not to indulge him with a third tenure by installing his candidate as governor.”

The Special Military Task Force, code-named Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), on Tuesday arrested two women for allegedly trafficking a 4-day-old baby girl.

Politics / Full Text Of Buhari’s Speech In Ebonyi by Ebisco015: 11:10pm On Nov 14, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday arrived Ebonyi State on an official visit.

This is the first of such trip since he took office in 2015.

In the South-east, the president called for unity among Nigerians and promised more developmental projects for the region.

His speech read:

I am delighted to be in Abakiliki today to interact with the good people of this State and indeed, the South East (Ndigbo) region as a whole.

I want to express my gratitude to Ndi Ebonyi for their hospitality and warm reception since our arrival in Abakiliki a few hours ago.

In the last few hours, I have commissioned some landmark projects and laid the foundation stones for the Ebonyi City Mall and a flyover bridge projects. I commend His Excellency, Governor David Umahi for his vision and commitment to the development of his State.

In the course of my visit, I also had the honour and privilege of unveiling the statue of a great Nigerian, Sir Akanu Ibiam, whose notable records of humanitarianism, advocacy of free primary education and rural development, will continue to be an inspiration to all.

I am also grateful to the people of Ebonyi as well as the South East traditional rulers, who today, bestowed on me traditional titles. To the Ndi Ebonyi, I am ENYIOMA 1 (Good Friend) and to the South East, I am OCHIOHA OF NDIGBO. I thank you for this honour and kind gesture.

My presence here today is a demonstration of our strong belief in the unity of Nigeria. As the most populous country in Africa, with over 300 ethnic groups, our diversity is almost unique among nations.

The people of the South East are known for their ingenuity, industrial and commercial talent. There is no part of Nigeria where you will not find Igbo entrepreneurs, both men and women, contributing to the development of their adopted communities.

So I am asking you all not to buy into the senseless propaganda on secession. Igbo is Nigeria and Nigeria is Igbo. Both are inseparable.

We must therefore continue to commit ourselves to the development of Nigeria. A Nigeria where we sustain our national unity without compromising on our cultural identities. A Nigeria where the aspirations of its people is guaranteed without prejudice to tribe or religion. A Nigeria, where we can sleep at night knowing that tomorrow will be better than today.

The task of nation building is a continuous one. It never stops. Our founding fathers, from all corners of this country, worked together to actualize the creation of one Nigeria.

After independence, the same founding fathers worked together to maintain this one Nigeria. Yes, they had differences and varied opinions at times. After all, they were only human. And yes, they had moments of weaknesses and doubt. But again, no one is perfect. However, one thing they all protected until the end of their lives was having one Nigeria for all Nigerians.

Today, Nigeria is 57 years old. Nigeria has gone through many pains. But has also achieved significant successes. Its citizens are leaders in all aspect of human development. But we rarely celebrate these successes more. Some misguided Nigerians would rather channel their energy to propagating negative stories and senseless rumours.

Over 60% of Nigeria’s population is under 25 years old. They have little knowledge of Nigeria’s journey. They were not born during the dark days of civil war and the nation rebuilding that happened afterwards.

The task of nation building is a continuous one. It relies on the successful transition of factual knowledge from one generation to another. This means it is our collective responsibility to ensure we do not betray our founding fathers as we transfer the Nigeria project from one generation to the next.

As our national anthem says; “the labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain”

So parents, speak to your children about the importance of their heritage, culture and being open minded. Teachers, teach your students about the history of this nation and how it was a coalition of diversity that brought it to existence. And leaders, we must lead by example and show tolerance and acceptance of diversity.

Today, most grievances expressed by all Nigerians, not only those in the south east, is lack of jobs, poor infrastructure and basic amenities. We are working aggressively to address these.

We are building roads, hospitals and schools. We are expanding our power transmission infrastructure while supporting the generation and distribution companies to ensure more power is delivered to our homes. We are developing agricultural programs that will create more jobs while making Nigeria food secure

For example, we recently mobilized the contractor of the 2nd Niger Bridge back to site. We have also made provisions in the 2018 budget proposal to ensure this project is completed as early as possible.

We are also upgrading the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia by constructing a Modern Medical Diagnostic Centre. This will further bring quality and affordable health care to the region.

In the agricultural sector, the States in this region have participated in all Federal Government agricultural initiatives. For instance, Ebonyi was among the first few State Government’s to sign up to the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative. The program has already created thousands of direct and indirect jobs in this fertile part of the our country.

I would like to congratulate Governor Umahi who put aside his political differences to participate in this federally led project that has improved the lives of not only the farmers of Ebonyi State, but the entire South East States.

For the South East, I am pleased to inform you that our 2018 budget proposal has allocated up to N10 billion for the development of the Enyimba Industrial Park and Nnewi Auto Park. Both projects will be implemented in collaboration with the respective state Governments and the private sector. Again, these are classic examples of the partnerships between the Federal and State Governments in the region to improve the livelihoods of Nigerians – politics aside.

In October 2017, we commenced the payment of pensions to police officers who were granted Presidential pardon in 2000 after serving in the former Biafran Police during the 30 month civil war. These officers, and their next of kin, have waited for their pensions for 17 years since the Presidential pardon.

I want to assure the Ndigbo that the welfare and well-being of every Nigerian is important to us. We stand for inclusivity and will not leave any section or citizen behind.

I thank you most sincerely for your attention and warm reception.

May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Politics / Biafra: Keyamo Mocks IPOB Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Sack by Ebisco015: 10:35am On Nov 14, 2017
Human rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Festus Keyamo has taunted the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, over its announcement that it had sacked Nnamdi Kanu as director of Radio Biafra.

Keyamo wondered why IPOB, who had alleged that Kanu was killed by Nigerian army, was still announcing his removal ‘in the grave’.

DAILY POST reports that Radio Biafra upon resumption on Monday announced through one Ifeoma Okorafor that the radio was restructuring.

She announced that, “Mazi Nnamdi Nwanekaenyi Kanu, the former Director of Radio Biafra is hereby dismissed and removed as Director of Radio Biafra following extensive and intensive consultations”

“Kanu’s actions and his decisions to incite members of IPOB towards violence leading to the death of many innocent young people in Onitsha, Aba and Umuahia is totally unacceptable and grossly irresponsible.

“Kanu privately collected £14 million and another $22 million to purchase landed properties abroad in his name and that of his father, Igwe Israel Kanu, in a clear case of ‘monkey dey work baboon dey chop’.”

Reacting, however, Keyamo rhetorically asked if Biafra was now a zoo.

He tweeted, “So, after IPOB earlier claimed the Army killed Kanu, did they wake him from d grave to ask him questions over allegations against him before sacking him as their leader? Or did they sack him without hearing from him? Would that not be the style of animals in a zoo? Is Biafra now a zoo?”

Travel / I Drank My Urine To Survive – Libya Deportee by Ebisco015: 1:34pm On Nov 11, 2017
One of the 84 Nigerians who tried to migrate to Europe through Libya but were deported to the country has given account of his ordeal in the desert.

After spending one and a half years in dehumanizing conditions in Libya, the Nigerians were deported.

The Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki on Tuesday received the deportees at the Government House Benin City.

One of the returnees, 27-year-old Eric Idemudia told Vanguard, “I had to drink my urine to survive in the desert, Nigerians were just dying like chickens everyday on our journey through the desert.

“I buried some of them and others we just threw away their bodies because there was no time to bury them. I can never wish my enemies to go through such horror in a bid to travel outside the country to earn a living.

“I stayed in Libya for one year and six months. My journey started when I met one man called Dickson in Benin who asked me if I was interested in traveling out and I said yes.

“He said he would help me to Italy but I told him I was only interested in going to Austria. When I asked him how much it would cost me, he said N500,000 and I told him I would pay.

“So, I looked for the money and I went to give him at Agbor park after informing my family that I was traveling outside the country. When I got to Dickson, I discovered that we were five boys and nine girls

Crime / We Know Where Tompolo Is Hiding, How They Use To Bomb Pipelines by Ebisco015: 9:25pm On Nov 06, 2017
A militant group, Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) says it is ready to do a huge favour to the federal government that will lead to the capture of notorious militant, Tompolo.

While speaking in an exclusive chat with Vanguard on Monday, a militant group, Reformed Niger Delta Avengers, (RNDA), said it knows the whereabouts of fugitive ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, a.k.a Tompolo.

The Niger Delata militant group, also expressed its readiness to guide security agents to his hideout in the creeks of the oil rich region.

Leader of the group and coalition of nine other militant groups, self-styled “Major General” Johnmark Ezonebi, said this morning that some top officials of the Federal and Delta State Government were familiar with the hideout, but declined to disclose it to the authorities for necessary action.

His words, “We know exactly where he (Tompolo) is, even some top federal government officials and the government of Delta state know his whereabouts with top security agents.

“In a short while we shall give the names of all those influential supporters to Tompolo and his Niger Delta Avengers with some government officials from the presidency still getting in touch with a man that is under government wanted list,” Ezonebi asserted.

Politics / 2019: Reno Omokri Reveals How Buhari Plans To Win Second Term In Office by Ebisco015: 10:17am On Nov 06, 2017
Reno Omokri, a former Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, has raised the alarm over what he described as President Muhammadu Buhari’s lack of intention and capacity to hold credible elections in 2019.

In an open letter to the international community published through his Facebook page, Omokri alleged that President Buhari has unleashed the fascist in him by taking steps to undermine democracy and take Nigeria the way of Venezuela as the country prepares for another round of presidential elections.

Omokri cited the cases of the two prominent opponents of the president, who have indicated interest in contesting the Presidential elections of 2019.

“The first is the incumbent Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose. Exactly one hour after Governor Fayose declared, his Commissioner for Finance and the state Accountant General were arrested on trumped up charges to cripple the Fayose campaign.

“Also, when former Vice President Atiku Abubakar looked like he might be interested in the 2019 race, the government of President Buhari on October 11, 2017, curiously accused his firm, INTELS of not adhering to a policy that runs contrary to a legally binding agreement between the government and INTELS and on the basis of that unilaterally revoked a contract that was still in force. Obviously, this was done to neutralize him ahead of the 2019 Presidential election,” Omokri explained.

He further pointed out that an international fugitive who is on INTERPOL’s wanted list, Abdulrasheed Maina, was invited back to the country by the Buhari administration, according to a press conference by his family.

Omokri noted that Maina was reinstated to the civil service from which he had been dismissed after he stole millions of dollars from the pension fund, and given a double promotion by the Buhari government.

“Being that Maina’s gubernatorial campaign posters suddenly sprung up all over Northern Nigeria, it is generally suspected that he was brought in by the President to fund his reelection campaign with his loot especially as the president has fallen out with people like Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu, who funded his 2015 election.

“This is all the more so given the fact that the head of the civil service revealed in a leaked memo that she warned the President against the act of reinstating a known criminal into the civil service, even though the President had lied to the Nigerian public that he was unaware that Mr. Maina had been recalled and reinstated,” he said.

He alleged that the head of the civil service, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, is now being persecuted by the Buhari administration, adding that the President’s chief of Staff was caught on video trying to intimidate her for exposing the president as a liar.

“There is now a palpable fear in Nigeria about the fate of the 2019 election. Some people fear that the unprecedented militarization and intimidation in Nigeria under Buhari would render any credible election impossible.

When he was an opposition leader, he contested the presidential elections in 2003, 2007 and 2011. At each of those elections he was rejected by the Nigerian people, yet he refused to accept the results and encouraged his followers to take to violence through combustible rhetoric including threatening that ‘the dog and the baboon will both be soaked in blood’ if he should suffer the same fate,” Omokri explained.

Omokri argued that if President Buhari was unable to accept defeat as an opposition candidate and even threatened bloodshed and non recognition of the government in power, it would not be reasonable to expect that he would be able to conduct a credible election and accept defeat as an incumbent president.

PDP also pocketed the 258 councilorship positions in the state.

Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, in a statement on Sunday, said that recent actions of Obono-Obla ran contrary to the enabling act that established the panel.

3. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has declared 21 days mourning for its members who died during the military invasion of the home of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, at Afara Ukwu, Umuahia, Abia State.

This is even as the group claimed it has discovered more corpses of slain members in a bush within the precincts of Kanu’s home.

4. Femi Falana, Lagos activist lawyer, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently sanction all government officials involved in the reinstatement of the former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina.

According to Falana, the handling of the scandal generated by the recall of Maina had eroded the credibility of the current anti-corruption crusade being championed by the currently government.

5. Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stalwart and publisher of Champion newspapers, Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has debunked the belief that Igbo policial leaders instigated the January 1966 coup that ended the first republic.

He said it was wrong for anybody to insult Igbos by claiming that political leaders from the region masterminded the coup, when in the real sense, the same Igbo leaders stopped the coup from actualising its main objectives.

6. Elder statesman and National Leader of Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, Chief Edwin Clark, other Niger Delta leaders and groups, yesterday, appealed to the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers, to abort its threat to recommence bombing of oil facilities in the region, saying that violence was not the solution.

Chief Clark pointed finger at a powerful minister from the region, a former governor and a top Presidency official, for the October 26 disruption of the forum’s fourth general assembly in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, regretting that even now, government had not explained its action.

7. Former Military Head of State, General Abdullsalami Abubakar has said the major challenge facing Nigeria as a nation now was national unity and cohesion.

8. A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and former governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu said yesterday, that the Igbos would produce the President in 2023 after President Muhammadu Buhari’s second tenure.

According to Kalu, who spoke in Umuahia during the annual harvest of St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church, the future of the Igbo in Nigeria politics is brighter now in APC than ever.

9. The Accountant-General of the Federation, Alhaji Ahmed Idris, has said he has no legal obligation to account for how the states of the federation spent the N388.3bn Paris Club loan refund released to them.

He argued that he could not be compelled to disclose such information because it was “protected by professional privilege, and therefore confidential.”

10. The Federal Government has said the impact of its economic policies will be felt soon by Nigerians.

According to the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the current administration had improved the country’s tax to Gross Domestic Product ratio through the Nigerian Voluntary Asset and Income Declaration Scheme.

Politics / Enugu Council Poll Best In Nigeria’s Recent History -ekweremadu by Ebisco015: 10:20pm On Nov 05, 2017
The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has congratulated the people and Government of Enugu State on the successful conduct of the November 4, 2017 Local Government election in the State, describing it as the best council election in Nigeria’s recent history.

Ekweremadu, who commended the State Government for its policy of non-interference in the electoral process, also congratulated the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on its outstanding victory, noting that it was just the beginning of payback to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his developmental strides in the state in the time of financial crunch and the political peace he restored to the State.

The PDP was announced winner of the 17 chairmanship positions in the State as well as 258 councilorship positions. Elections in two remaining wards in Udi council area were inconclusive. However, it did not affect the outcome of the chairmanship election.

Mr. Uche Anichukwu, Special Adviser (Media) to the Deputy Senate President quoted him as saying: “The poor conduct of local government elections has been of grave concern to Nigerians in the constitution amendment process, but the Saturday council election conducted by the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC, is unarguably the best in recent years.

“It is one of those rare occasions state electoral umpires have inspired confidence in the nation’s electoral process and it adds to the democratic credentials of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the PDP.

“I commend the Ugwuanyi-led administration for ensuring that ENSIEC enjoyed total independence and the necessary resources, while also making it possible for the people to troupe out en masse to exercise their franchise in a secure, free, fair, and credible democratic process”.

On PDP’s landslide victory, Ekweremadu said: “This is just a prelude to 2019 when the people of Enugu will fully appreciate the Ugwuanyi administration for the equitable socio-economic development in the state, workers welfare, and political peace in the State”.

He enjoined the Council Chairmen and Councilors-elect to key into the development agenda of the PDP administration in the State to ensure that the blessings of democracy trickled down to the people at the grassroots.

Politics / Buhari Will Shock Opposition In 2019 – Senator Arise by Ebisco015: 10:03am On Nov 05, 2017
Senator Ayo Arise has advised the All Progressives Congress (APC) to give President Muhammadu Buahri its presidential ticket in 2019.

He also expressed confidence that Buhari will “shock” his critics and the opposition by winning a second term.

“I think it is given that any time a party has a president on seat, people should give him an opportunity to run for a second term”, he told Sun.

“For the little I know of this president and the little Nigerians know about him, if he feels that he is not fit to come back in terms of age and other challenges, he won’t insist on running for another term.

“But having gone through the worst ailment of his life, according to him, and survived, I don’t see anything wrong if he wants to run for a second term.

“Every day you see him on television, you see him waxing stronger and healthier even better than any other time in the last two years. So, if the man says he wants to run, I can assure you that I will be one of his greatest supporters.

“And at the end of the day, those who will want to capitalise on the issue of his challenges to campaign against him would be shocked to see a renewed determination to build a new Nigeria of our collective dream. I am one of his supporters who want him to continue.

“There is an unfinished business in this country. We have not been able to tame corruption. We have only been chasing those who stole us blind. We have not been able to put in place what will deter people from engaging in corrupt acts.

“President Buhari has all the goodwill to put in place the structure that will reduce and minimise corruption. The way we are going, if we do not have a sustainable policy on corruption, we won’t get anywhere”.

Politics / Pray For Buhari, Aisha To Come Out Of Aso Rock Alive – Fani-kayode by Ebisco015: 4:04pm On Nov 04, 2017
Former Minister of Aviation and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Femi Fani-Kayode, has called on Nigerians to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Aisha to come out of Aso Rock alive.

Fani-Kayode observed that Nigerian leaders who assume power hardly come out alive with their wives or family members intact.

He traced his point back to early 1960′s Chief Obafemi Awolowo, when the first Premier of the Western Region, lost his first son and years later his second son and second daughter.

He also recalled how his father, Chief Remilekun Fani-Kayode, the Deputy Premier of the Western Region, also lost his second son while in office

FFK, as fondly called, revealed that President Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria’s second democratically-elected President lost four wives and one son many years ago whilst Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Premier of the Northern Region, lost two sons and one daughter. Awolowo and Obasanjo went to jail for three years each whilst Ahmadu Bello went to jail for three months.

He warned, “During the course of the three years before the 2015 presidential election President Muhammadu Buhari lost another daughter whilst Governor Nasir El Rufai of Kaduna state, who is being groomed as his heir and successor, lost one daughter, one son and one nephew.

“Whichever way May 2018 will be the three year mark of Buhari in the Presidential Villa and I hope and pray that he and his wife will be as lucky as President Jonathan and First Lady Patience Jonathan were. It is incumbent on us all to pray for them.”

Celebrities / Why I’m Not Allowed To Have A Boyfriend –miss Nigeria by Ebisco015: 7:18am On Nov 04, 2017
Expectedly, beauty queens are not permitted to be in a relationship during their reign. Most of them claim they abide by that rule, including the current Miss Nigeria, Chioma Obiadi.

When Saturday Beats asked the young beauty queen how she has been able to cope with that, she said it was just a protective measure put in place for her to stay away from scandals and other “unnecessary things.”

She said, “One needs to be protected against scandals. Some of these scandals come from people who you are close to and trust. It is just a protective clause to help me to be better.”

According to her, it will be hard to keep a relationship as she has been overwhelmed with both her school’s activities and her role as Miss Nigeria. But then, the pretty girl said the clause has not hindered guys from stalking her.

She added, “I have stalkers. Every girl has a stalker, but I feel God has given us a way to handle it without hurting anyone. I was not even in a relationship before becoming Miss Nigeria. I have been jostling between school and Miss Nigeria, so I barely have time.

“The way I handle men now is pretty much the same way I handled men before I won the pageant. I have been a girl all through my life and I feel all girls get pressure from men. Like I said earlier, the organisation is very protective. So, they have in a way protected me from unnecessary exposure. If they feel an exposure is not good for me, they don’t let me experience it.”

She, however, admitted that winning Miss Nigeria was her turning point, as her life became better and her ideas became bigger than they used to be.

“The lowest point is learning how to be patient, especially with the environmental battle I’ve embarked on. It is very tough. We had a beach cleanup two weeks ago and before we finished cleaning up half of it, the other part which was already cleaned up had been messed up again. That was very frustrating, so it takes patience and passion for one to actually keep doing that.”

The beauty queen said she intends to complete her education once she is through with her reign.

“I don’t believe in starting up something when you are not ready for it. I believe you have to lay your bed properly before you lie on it. I have a couple of business ideas, but I have yet to make up my mind. I don’t feel bad that the spotlight will be off from me soon. I wish I could still hold on to it because once you’ve eaten sugar, you don’t want to stop. But don’t forget that if you keep eating sugar, you will get diabetes. I think I have had my own share and I have gathered things I can tap from to become whoever I want to be. The wise thing for me is to grow and become a greater person. I am just looking forward to handing over to the next Miss Nigeria.”

Already the search for the next Miss Nigeria has begun and the organisers told Saturday Beats that even though the event was rested for about 20 years, it is here to stay.

Politics / 1999 Constitution Satanic, Must Be Set Aside – Prof. Okaba by Ebisco015: 9:53am On Oct 25, 2017
A lecturer at Federal University of Otuoke in Bayelsa State, Professor Benjamin Okaba, has described the 1999 constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria as a satanic document.

Speaking in Akure, the Ondo State, capital on Tuesday, the university Don said the document must be set aside if Nigeria was to move forward.

Okaba also decried the marginalisation of the Niger Delta in the scheme of things in Nigeria.

According to Okaba, “Nigeria must go back to the 1963 constitution in order to address the cry of marginalization by every segment of the country.

“Resource control remains the minimum condition for peace and unity of this country. Resource control remains the minimum prerequisite for equity and justice. I belief if this country wants to know peace, we must go back to our 1963 constitutional framework which is restructuring. In doing do, we allow each region to annex its resources and pay tax to the federal government.

“We need devolution of power so that each region grows at its own pace with little or no support from Federal Government. It will enable some competition from the federating units.

“The Niger Delta is marginalized by the Federal Government. Inasmuch as the political architecture remains like this, we are already marginalized. How many Local Governments do we have in the South South? Look at the National Assembly, how many representatives do we have compared to others? It is skewed in favour of the North.

“Until 1999 constitution which I call satanic document is set aside and we have federal constitution where the ideas of all the good people are considered and we recognize our strength, our weaknesses and come together and develop at our own pace, annex our resources and stop depending on oil which is vanishing.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2017/10/1999-constitution-satanic-must-be-set.html
