The summary of this video proves that Soludo is right! You need to plan for years to achieve your development goals. A second airport in Anambra is a near-must if the opportunity is not to close in a few years! So far, the River Niger is not dredged, and a rail line to Lagos is not built... we are effectively landlocked from the global economy!
We need to think more strategically in Anambra and avoid being unnecessarily emotive. If a tiny Uli airfield could keep a landlocked and besieged Biafra in the battle for 2 years .........who says an Aerotropolis will not be a game changer for Anambra's economy................... China is being besieged by a floundering US empire..........the Western powers want to control and constrain the Chinese export sea lanes.........China is searching for outlets to release this pressure...................if we can position the aerotropolis well, we can attract the Chinese to use that second airport in Ndikelionwu as a distribution hub for Eastern Nigeria and as far East as Congo!
However, we have to build out the infrastructure first.......Indiana lives by that dictum: ' build it, and they will come'! We have to think out of the box and take risks or else our adversaries in western Nigeria will overwhelm us completely!

What I see in that video is common sense sabotaged by poor management. But the essence is this. Enugu understood that the bus transport system moves hundreds of thousands of people a day and decided to organize and modernize it.
Now show me a single large central bus terminal Anambra has built. We havent even started. Our solution is primitive parks for keke and aerotropolis. God who did this to us?
Enugu has a nice bus terminal run badly but contrast with the one run by Governor Otti of Abia. That man does three things right. He knows how to prioritize, how to build and who to appoint to operate it. This is the difference in approach between a lecturer like Soludo, a primitive businessman like Mbah and a corporate CEO.
I submit you are totally wrong! Where are you going to build a large modern bus terminal like the one in Enugu in a congested town like Onitsha or even nnewi! I await an honest answer from you! I thought it was due to the financial burden of the roads that he could not complete the other projects he started in his first term such as the Anambra ICC hotel.
What is annoying is that everything is about what is reigning and not what is crucial for the state’s development. For instance Anambra’s airport in Oba was abandoned since 1982. Anambra’s economic and industrial growth was stunted due to lack of airport until Asaba and later Umueri airports were built recently. All of a sudden the reigning thing now is airport, airport, airport! While we still have so many other highly critical areas where we are lagging behind.
Part of the reason I supported Soludo was because I hoped he would reason like a well-seasoned professor and not a local trader. How is it possible that a whole professsor of economics would reason that even if Anambra needs 5 airports by 2070, we must build all of them all at once, without first developing our industrial base that would make the economy which requires 5 airports possible? It is simply called the “Theory of Comparative Cost” which Soludo himself must have taught his students. It simply means, use your advantages to develop your economy.
Now Anambra sits on vast deposit of natural gas that can easily be used to produce electricity, petrochemical companies, fertilizer companies to boost agricultural production to power that future which would require 5 Airports. When Soludo spoke about stopping Anambra being a “departure lounge” and creating jobs in Anambra to keep its youths from running abroad, I thought he must have figured a good strategy to use the massive gas deposits in the state to support petrochemical companies setting up in Anambra.
Globally, countries are plotting how to pipe Nigerian gas to Europe or elsewhere so they can build more power plants, fertilizer plants and petrochemical factories to support their industrialization and economic growth. Anambra sits on a massive gas deposit, does not need to pipe anybody’s gas to Anambra to support industrial growth. But instead of thinking how we can bring in companies to set up in Anambra and use our gas to fuel prosperity, we are fixated on building airports that we neither need nor really even have enough funds to build very good ones that airlines would prefer to use the new airport compared to the currrently existing ones. It is a case of putting the cart before the horse that I didn’t expect a sound mind like Soludo would end up reasoning like the usual dumb politicians in Nigeria and Africa that made Africa the richest continent in resources, yet has the poorest people.
Your postulation is unimpeachable, but the gas being piped to Lagos, Ghana, and maybe to Morocco is associated gas..........byproducts of oil exploitation and production! Our vast gas deposits are largely stranded ..........to bring it online will take at least 10 years of heavy investment with a serious risk of failure, due to lower than expected production! Oil and gas investment has a high rate of failure o....especially when handled by marginal local players like Orient oil!
I support the airport or aerotopolis and mixed-use project, but I do not see a talented team to push the project! Unfortunately, Ansippa is floundering ............as much as I support the second airport......fear don dey catch me! A signature project like this is as strong as its promoters!

Obiano knew airport construction was not a tea party so he went there every week with teams of invited people including traditional rulers, the clergy and even Burutai and showed videos proving he was serious about completing the project. Soludo has not shown any of that level of seriousness or transparency
It is very very clear that Soludo and his urchins want to use the airport as a smokescreen to loot. If work were indeed going on, he would have been sharing the pictures the way he did during the Awka to Ekwulobia road. But aside from showing caterpillars clearing a small piece of land that isn’t up to 100 meters squared, there is no picture of anything.
Making speeches with very little achievement is Soludo’s style. If Soludo had completed key projects he started like the Awka ICC hotel, then there would be no fears that he also plans to abandon this airfield after purportedly squandering billions in it. Even the Enugu ICC hotel is already more than 80 percent completed, yet it started many months after Soludo’s Awka ICC hotel foundation was completed.
Soludo’s style of talk talk talk with very little real achievement is very worrisome. After a lot of talk, he quietly abandons the project and shifts to another one. When people raise concern about this lack of focus, he calls on jobless hoodlums like Chino to insult them. Well the jobless Chino knows from my history here that I neither respond to him nor change my opinion due to his insults.
All I can say is that if it is an airport in Aguata that Soludo thinks is the most strategic developmental project he could do, then he should do it and ensure it is at least of Obiano’s airport standard and with at least 3.5km runway to accommodate wide bodied cargo planes. If he abandons that project after spending state resources there as he abandoned the Anambra ICC 5-star hotel, my lawyers will personally submit an EFCC petition for a full investigation into this strange airport project, and proper punishment to be dished for wholesale financial indiscipline.
I think your assessment of Soludo is rather harsh! He has been able to complete over 95% of projects he embarks on! Maybe even higher..............for me, my pet peeve where Soludo is concerns his inability to establish lasting institutions.......... It's rather annoying that we still do not have an active waste evacuation agency,,,,,,, where are the tax agency........signage agency..........even Ansippa has been buried alive!
However, as far as completion of projects, he has done well!

Among the various proposed new states in the Southeast, Etiti is generally not considered one of the leading proposals. Proposals such as Anioma, Adada, Orlu, and Orashi have typically attracted greater attention, with Etiti often mentioned after them to merely cut off a little bit of the current 5 Southeast states to make a new state.
However, basing a major state investment decision on the hope of a proposed state that may never be created is a very risky strategy. Rather than committing scarce public resources into such uncertain prospects, Soludo could prioritize projects with clear and immediate economic benefits, such as investments in power generation, refining, manufacturing, agro-processing, and other industries that would increase employment, strengthen the state’s economy, and expand Anambra’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
You underestimate the true cost of a power generation plant.........ditto a rail line project! An airport costs a fraction of these massive projects! Without padding, an airport can be built with as little as 10 million dollars, but from the rendering I saw of the airport, it cannot cost more than 30 million dollars................which power plant or gas plant can yu build for 30 million dollars!
Anyway, that airport is strategic for Alaigbo,,,nuff said! What is coming to the global political economy cannot be imagined! In fact, most Nigerians will be taken unawares by the seismic shift in world stability! Ndigbo will need that airport....in fact God will need that airport for His purpose! Bookmark this little discussion... it's about to go down!

Despite everything said about Obiano, he at least improved the IGR through fighting to ensure Anambra became an oil producing state and earned 13% derivation on her oil and funded the rice revolution through supporting people to produce Anambra Rice. Peter Obi similarly invested in SAB miller to ensure continued dividends accruing to the state IGR and established a state university and teaching hospital in addition to the total overhaul of public schools.
If Soludo does not like Peter Obi or Obiano legacies, Why can’t Soludo emulate Gov. Alex Otti and incentivize Nexoil or Seplat to partner with Orient petroleum resources Ltd to complete the refinery project at Igbariam or use Anambra gas to build a power plant like Geometric power Aba? Even a small gas powered power plant to power Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka industrial zones will seriously boost industrialization of Anambra state.
If he is looking for something he alone built to be named after him, the refinery will be something we know he built to boost the GDP of the state than leaving us with an abandoned project or another nonfunctional airport like Dave Umahi wasted Ebonyi state money doing. Instead of using the money to revolutionize Agro processing industries and reviving the Nkaliki poultry farms- the biggest poultry farm in Nigeria that would have been employing many Ebonyi youths, reducing poverty and adding to the state’s IGR.

You do not become Aworld bank consultant, Nigeria economic adviser and CBN governor by being foolish and ignorant!
