nice write up. but Op you should check your use of the word 'SS' in 'the problem with Russia'... SS are the secret police of germany that does dirty deals behind the front. The german army that fights the war are called wehrmacht. the ss and wehrmacht are too different bodies; one was for fighting the actual war at the front, while the other has the duty of cleansing, killing, massacring (unwanted elements) people in conquered territory. SS activities are used also to show the level of atrocities the germans committed against jews and pows. Using ss instead of wehrmacht could confuse known history thanks.

Politics / Re: Security: Delta Bans Entry Of Herdsmen by EbubeGid(m): 4:29pm On May 14, 2013
omonuan:

This is my point that you seem to have missed. Every tribe has criminals and the Fulani are not the only people that engage in robbery so why ban only them? For your information, I am Igbo and also from Delta. I know a lot of very good Fulani people that live in Delta State. If Igbo people especially cheer this type of knee jerk reaction, then we are in trouble because we are more itinerant and much loathed by some Nigerians.

I don't dispute that some Fulani are a menace to the society. Even Lord Luggard was alleged to have foretold the fact that the Fulani are going to be dangerous to other Nigerians. What I disagree with is the singling out of the Fulani as a race and banning them from entering Delta. No state should be allowed to enforce this type of law that is clearly unconstitutional.

First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew

Then they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

This is a provocative poem attributed to pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the sloth of German intellectuals following the Nazis' rise to power and the subsequent purging of their chosen targets, group after group.

I believe austine E. and co talked sense into you before you thought well and wrote this...any way i like this your second comment...@ the topic, I believe the Govt. should give them the option of staying in a paid Ranch with clear regulations or leave the State. period

You can't post these rubbish on facebook, BB Chart e.t.c. or other known chart forums, If you know that tribalism is good garment why not wear it even openly. If I did'nt get anything yesterday, I will forever remember the testimony of that 'teacher turned landlord' and the words of my Papa MY GOD IS NOT A ROBBER,...YOUR GIVING TO GOD DOES NOT MAKE HIM GREATER, YOU NEED GOD TO BE GREAT. It nearly brought tears to my eyes too. I just thank God for delivering me from unbelief especially from some bad comments i read here on nairaland which nearly twisted my heart, Kai!. I SAY LOUDLY THANK YOU JESUS. Please for the sake of the unbelieving people here please don't just accept what you are reading here on nairaland DON'T. Just go there and see and hear for yourselves. People die of sickness even in good hospitals with good medication but yesterday many people were healed of different kinds of sicknesses instantly without paying money but only by believing. I saw wonders Infact I don't know what to say more again but i pray and know that i will surely get my own miracle before this event is over. Surely 'JEHOVAH GOD IS GREATER THAN ALL OTHER gods'. and to the guy who started this thread God bless you dear.

Igbos living in the North are disgracing the igbos generally. how can a very large group of people living in a very different area have no concrete plan of protection for themselves in an environment of unending attacks by urchins.
when attacked they run home, was it at home they made their money, who did they think will fight for them they should stand and fight and not run back home. This is area where they live and know all the goings, people, mood etc more than anybody can claim so they should defend themselves.
or are they expecting their corpse to be brought home and reprisals start in the east. God forbid! The fire started there it should end there; it should'nt spread.
It's a pity that Igbos in the north haven't learnt anything yet.since pre independent times even in 1966 when national soldiers were turned into rampaging mob looking for Igbos' head. still our people there hasn't seen any reason to form a defensive plan around themselves in this so called one nigeria. Self defence is legal. they should make us of it. even Israel surrounded by enemies, grew tooth and now are feared by their outnumbered enemies. Let them not expect government to fight for them for it will be a biased fight nor the general Igbo body for it may lead to another war. so far their enemies are unfaced miscreants mixing religions with politics to achieved their aim.
Politics / Re: Soyinka Backs Achebe On Civil War Memoir by EbubeGid(m): 3:38pm On Oct 18, 2012
sleek29:

Now that Lagos aint no longer the capital, I think yall can move your ass to abuja. Just do a survey of the region with the highest amount of non natives, then you'll know who is more accommodating. What Soyinka just said showed how objective yorubas can be. An igbo man would never see anything wrong in what a fellow igbo man does and its a fact. I agree that a genocide happened and awolowo somehow was culpable, but I want just one Ibo person to admit that Ojukwu played a huge part in the genocide. Ojukwu, Gowon and Awolowo caused the genocide, plain simple!
@ the bolded;
This is the contentious truth that has been hidden for a long time. I am happy this finally came out from your mouth and I now also support you this. Awolowo means a lot of good things to you yorubas but to us the Igbos, It means a lot of Evil; (1) Starvation - that could be excused as an instrument of war.
but (2) #20 for all the money the war beaten and famished could afford was sheer wickedness and hate. forget all the talks about Central Bank policy and nigeria going bankruptcy; How much could this famished people bring that would have broken the bank. The Igbos were in a dire situation then and He know it but decided to join the enemies of the Igbos. He had the chance to write his name in gold but he did'nt. There were people like him who also had the opportunity and they made it. Soyinka so this during the war and chose the option to extend love and friendship and dared the odds to come to biafra and was arrested afterwards. Adekunle (senior)(may his soul rest in peace) was another hero that is yet to be sung. He decided not to give up his guest to his killers and paid with his life for it. there were so many sacrificial acts of brotherliness shown by different people all of Awolowo saw none fit to partake in. I leave his actions to his conscience because to me The brave/ brotherly actions of Wole Soyinkas, unsung Adekunles overshadows his atrocities. I believe in my life time that Adekunle will sung and be immortalized as the number 1 Nigerian.
As for our hero, Ojukwu, he is no saint. his wrongs are glaringly shaming. With all his education and sophistication, he allowed his ego to push him into a war that he can't finish. Everyone knows that if biafra had a different leadership, the story would not have been the same as now or more so, there might not have any war. He had the support of the Igbo nation which fell to him as result of the confusion generated by events but misused it. Zik had the Igbo nations together. but with the little time Ojukwu had, he scattered it even to a bitter end. Everyone knows of the boasting, failures, conscriptions e.t.c. He started biafra and he himself killed it. He pushed innocent civilians nearly unarmed to tanks and mortars, all perishing in flames of his ego. All i have to say concerning him is, may god have mercy on him.
So for these two great men who contributed in making life what it is for us now, I say there Chapter is closed because they are dead and gone. whatever wrong they have done and left for the living can only be corrected by we the living who's chapter are still open.
None of us are saints, we have there shortcomings but I must say this one thing to us, the yoruba man should know that no matter his reviling, the igbo man will not bow down to him neither will any man do it and also the igbo man acknowledge that no matter his prowess and boastings, the yoruba will not bow neither any tribe. This is what man is. YOU respect those that respect you and love those that love you too.
Yoruba and Igbo are two great tribes in this Nigeria whose togetherness in this Nigeria will go along way in positioning Nigeria in a good shape in this world. Its true that our political fore fathers did alot to tear us apart but we have a right to make amends. I would personally love to see an end to this our cat and dog fight. I believe in one nigeria and in peace. I pray for more understanding and respect from nigerians as we copy the good traits of our heros and selectively leave bad characters of the same heros and not defend their wrong for they are men and not gods. May God help us Amen.

Tribalism has been the enemy of nigeria. we always support our tribesmen on issues whether they are right or wrong. it's very hard to find nigerians who live their lives without prejudice and tribal sentiments. Soyinka is one of the rare nigerians who is not controlled by this. LONG LIVE TO YOU SOYINKA.

d reason why BH succeed in their actions is b'cos d populace (indigenes. Muslims. Politcians e.t.c.) are SILENT COLLABORATORS. They believe they will benefit either way.
IT IS BETTER 4 D WHOLE SO UTH 2 START LOOKING 4 A PEACEFUL EXIT OUT OF NIGERIA {for the whole south "SE, SS, SW" had wronged the north in diff ways @ diff times by diff actions} B'COS IF A NORTHERNER, WITH THIS 'MADNESS', EMERGES PRES. IN 2015, BH WILL B RECRUITED INTO THE ARMY THEN D CIVIL WAR/ GENOCIDE. ODI MASSACRE E.T.C. WILL B NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT WILL HAPPEN.
"RIP" to the dead. nd
"HAPPY ENDING/ SAFE LANDING" to nigeria nd nigerians.
