The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, October 2, 2017 as a public holiday in commemoration of Nigeria’s 57th independence anniversary.

This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd) in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abubakar Magaji.

He congratulated Nigerians on the anniversary and urged them to sustain the collective efforts towards maintaining and strengthening the unity of the country.

Danbazzau therefore enjoined all Nigerians to remain steadfast in the love and care of the country, noting that strong sense of ownership of one’s country is vital to the sustainable development of every nation.

He also expressed profound appreciation to Nigerians and the international community for the support and co-operation to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

I got admission into the University to study pharmacy.
I had to stay off camp cos I wasn't used to ~staying~ with lots of people in the same room...

This article talks about the common mistakes most students in Nigeria make that deprives them of gaining admission in the university with others, this common mistakes are over looked because to them it's common among the Nigerian students and no body seems to care about the after effects.

Being offered admission into a university is the prayer of every Nigerian students. This is because the number of students far outweighs the number of universities we have in Nigeria.



Universities are not even helping the matter at all because most of them admit students based on “long-leg” which i know you understand what i mean.

This post is focusing on reasons you might not be offered admission by the school you choose. This reasons are based on my research, so i hope you trust them.

1. UNABLE TO MEET CUT-OFF MARK FOR YOUR COURSE

This is the most common reason why most of the students are being rejected yearly. For the new-bie, let me explain what i mean by cut-off mark. Cut-off mark is the bench mark or let me say boundary at which you as a student must reach before been offered admission into a certain university.

There are factors that determines cut-off mark and example of those are; the number of candidates that choose the course, the high or low pass rate of JAMB/screening examination and so on.

Cut-off marks are prone to increase or decrease by those factor i gave. I will explain more on the factors i gave and
how cut-off mark is being derived my next post.

2. WRONG SUBJECT COMBINATION IN JAMB EXAM

This is one avoidable mistake students commit every year. I will always advise a student to make some little research about the course they want to apply for in JAMB exam, and one of those research is finding out about the subject combination for the course. You can simply do this by checking the brochure provided by JAMB.

It won’t cost you anything to do this little research because it is capable of destroying your admission this year.
Take note!!!!

3. AGE REQUIREMENT

Though some students below the age requirement of a particular school devise ways to get admitted but i won’t advise any student to take the risk of passing JAMB exam and being denied admission simply because of your age (you know how painful it can be).

Most schools requires the student to be 16 years old on or before October 1st. I have seen a student that was denied
admission because of he was below the age requirement despite meeting other requirements that would have qualified him for the admission slot. So i will advise any student that he or she should make sure that he/she will be 16 years old on or before October 1st.

4. FAILED A CORE SUBJECT IN WAEC/NECO/GCE EXAM

I find it hard to believe that some students apply for admission despite failing a core subject in WAEC/NECO/GCE exam. Maybe they want to try their luck but to be sincere with you, no university will offer such student an admission slot except the student uses “long-leg” which i know you understand what i am saying.

5. USING TWO SITTING RESULT

This is also a criteria that cab disqualify a student during admission process. A lot of candidates you are competing with,
uses one sitting result and you know the federal universities favour one sitting result more. Why? The answer is simple; simply because they believe candidates with one sitting result are more educationally sound. You got my point? Yeah!!! I will explain more on the disadvantages of using two sitting result in my next post.

"Take Me Out" contestant who lost his chocolate museum job because he took four days off to film the show hanged himself a month later, an inquest heard.



Charlie Watkins, 22, went on the dating show before he died in March in a bid to find "the one" after saying he was disappointed he had been unlucky in love during his three years at university.

A spokesman for York Chocolate Story clarified that Charlie worked with them for five weeks from October 17 to November 25 and said he was a "well-liked and sociable member of the team".

They said due to filming commitments he was "unable to complete his probationary period" and said they were shocked to hear he had died, adding the team had made a donation to Mind in Charlie's memory.

York Coroners' Court heard the Criminology graduate took a job at the chocolate museum and shop for "a few months" after completing his degree.

But filming commitments for the dating show at Maidstone Studios, Kent, led to him being losing his job, the inquest heard.

His twin brother Harry said Charlie did not tell work about his whereabouts because couldn't have his phone with him during the Take Me Out filming.

He said he missed calls from work and had his employment terminated when he returned.

Charlie's lacrosse team mate and housemate Swabir Abdul Rahmam, 24, told the inquest: "He really loved his job at the chocolate factory - he was happy.

"But when he went to go film for the Take Me Out TV programme, he lost his job - they terminated his contract.

"He then had nothing to do apart from stay around the house and play on the XBOX and Playstation."

Adding: "He would have spent that time at work."

The inquest heard his family and friends confirm Charlie had self-harmed previously and taken anti-depressant medication in the past.

But Mr Rahmam said those days were behind him and at the time "he was cheerful and happy".

Charlie's psychiatrist Vivienne Sabre described him as "the life and soul of every party, but would suddenly retreat into the back of his mind moments later".

The former York University student tragically posted after graduating in June 2016: "My one regret is not finding that one woman for me to spend the rest of my life with."



Charlie went on the show and came away with a date

Charlie, known on Take Me Out as 'Chaz Man', even posted a picture on his Facebook account of the show's application form as he filled it in.

He was then called up to join match-making host Paddy McGuinness and shot scenes in February - and won a date with brunette Jo-Tara.

The Max and Paddy star McGuinness had tweeted saying the episode which Charlie appeared on the show would be dedicated to his memory.

It was broadcast on April 23 after ITV were granted the go-ahead from his family.

McGuinness, 43, tweeted at the time: "Tonight's Take Me Out is in memory of Charlie. A fantastic lad who I'm sure will be greatly missed by his wonderful friends and family. RIP."

Charlie's date with Jo-Tara was also broadcast a week later as the pair jetted off to the show's fictional Isle of Fernando's - and the date "went really well".

The inquest heard Charlie had spent the day before his death drinking with his brother in Leeds, West Yorks., before enjoying a charity dinner with friends in York.

He was found hanged in his bedroom the following evening as his flat mates tried to break down his bedroom door on March 13.

The inquest heard Charlie suffered after losing his mother when he was aged nine, and then his grandmother, grandfather and Auntie within a five year period.

North Yorkshire Coroner Rob Turnbull said he was "unable to answer questions put infront of him" as Charlie left no suicide note and his mother had died "some years ago".

Returning a conclusion of suicide, Mr Turnbull said: "Charlie was witty, charming and a considerate young man - that is what people thought of him."

Adding he was a "popular young man" and his life ended in a "sad set of circumstance
After the hearing, Charlie's twin brother Harry Watkins, 23, said: "I didn't know he was still struggling with our mother's death.

"I also noticed some laceration marks on his arm about a year ago when we went to the gym, but he just told me to mind my own business. We thought he had got better."

The family, from Essex, said they have now set up a foundation in Charlie's name to help others battling mental health.

York Chocolate Story and Take Me Out have been asked for comment.

A man who was possessed by demon has revealed how he was ordered by the demon to kill his fiancee by stabbing her in the heart.

A wicked man by name Ivan Griffin, 24 has exoosed how he drove a kitchen knife into the heart of his fiancee after revealing that it was the denon that ordered him to do so.
Ivan Griffin is charged of murdering 38-year-old Sabrina Mullings few hours after they got engaged. He drove a kitchen knife into the woman's heart and liver before she died on the morning of March 13.

Speaking at his trial, Ivan said he heard voices and was "a spectator in my own body" as the fatal blows were delivered. He denied murdering the woman. Griffin gave evidence at the Old Bailey where his softly spoken voice was barely audible over the hum of the building's heating system.

He told the jury that he put blood on the walls of their shared flat in Ravensdale Gardens, Upper Norwood, south London, to "rebuke the Devil", and repeatedly shouted "you can't have her" as Ms Mullings lay dying on the floor.

The accused also claimed her last words were to tell him not to take his own life. Griffin said: "Somehow this was the Devil's work. There was no other explanation for it – something evil had happened.

"I felt like a spectator in my own body. I felt like a puppet on a string.

"It was an out of body experience, like I was in a trance.

"It was like when you spin around and then you suddenly stand still – everything was distorted."

The prosecution has claimed the "real demons" of male aggression and violence were to blame for what they allege was domestic abuse.

The trial has heard from Ms Mullings' daughter, Hayley, who said she heard Griffin tell her mum to "drink his blood to cleanse her soul" and talk of "releasing demons".

The night before the fatal stabbing, Griffin claimed, his fiancee, who had just that day decided to marry him, was giving him intense "advice" and "warnings", and the feeling that "something bad was going to happen".

Griffin said she told him that he could not trust her or anybody, and the "weird" talk continued into the night.

He claimed to the jury on Monday that the pair prayed together and Ms Mullings told him to learn the Ten Commandments and "let them come in".

Griffin said they went to bed and his thoughts were of "needing to protect her".

He said he picked up a small red kitchen knife and it "just went straight into my chest".

He told the court: "It was an overwhelming force. While this is happening I'm totally paralysed.

"Sabrina moves towards me and my arm stretches out and she just drops.

"I just couldn't stop. It all happened so fast. I don't know what happened but I know it wasn't me, I wasn't in control of what was going on.

"I feel like something was taking advantage of my body, I know it sounds crazy."

Ms Mullings was killed by stab wounds to the heart and liver, according to pathologists.

Griffin said he tried to stop the bleeding and then, convinced he was meant to die with her, stabbed himself again in the chest and sliced his neck.

He claimed his fiancee spoke to him demanding he stop.

He said: "The last words I heard from her mouth were 'she will never forgive you if you do that to yourself'."

Griffin was detained under the Mental Health Act having walked to New Kent Road.

Police took him to hospital where was treated, arrested and later assessed by mental health professionals.

The trial continues.
