North Korea’s deputy U.N. ambassador warned Monday that the situation on the Korean peninsula “has reached the touch-and-go point and a nuclear war may break out any moment.”
Kim In Ryong told the U.N. General Assembly’s disarmament committee that North Korea is the only country in the world that has been subjected to “such an extreme and direct nuclear threat” from the United States since the 1970s — and said the country has the right to possess nuclear weapons in self-defence.

He pointed to large-scale military exercises every year using “nuclear assets” and said what is more dangerous is what he called a U.S. plan to stage a “secret operation aimed at the removal of our supreme leadership.”

This year, Kim said, North Korea completed its “state nuclear force and thus became the full-fledged nuclear power which possesses the delivery means of various ranges, including the atomic bomb, H-bomb and intercontinental ballistic rockets.”

“The entire U.S. mainland is within our firing range and if the U.S. dares to invade our sacred territory even an inch it will not escape our severe punishment in any part of the globe,” he warned.
Kim’s speech follows escalating threats between North Korea and the United States, and increasingly tough U.N. sanctions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday that his country is curtailing economic, scientific and other ties with North Korea in line with U.N. sanctions, and the European Union announced new sanctions on Pyongyang for developing nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Sunday that diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the North Korean crisis “will continue until the first bomb drops.” His commitment to diplomacy came despite President Donald Trump’s tweets several weeks ago that his chief envoy was “wasting his time” trying to negotiate with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, whom he derisively referred to as “Little Rocket Man.”

North Korea’s deputy U.N. ambassador called his country’s nuclear and missile arsenal “a precious strategic asset that cannot be reversed or bartered for anything.”

“Unless the hostile policy and the nuclear threat of the U.S. is thoroughly eradicated, we will never put our nuclear weapons and ballistic rockets on the negotiating table under any circumstances,” Kim said.

He told the disarmament committee that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea — North Korea’s official name — had hoped for a nuclear-free world.

Instead, Kim said, all nuclear states are accelerating the modernization of their weapons and “reviving a nuclear arms race reminiscent of (the) Cold War era.” He noted that the nuclear weapon states, including the United States, boycotted negotiations for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons that was approved in July by 122 countries at the United Nations.

“The DPRK consistently supports the total elimination of nuclear weapons and the efforts for denuclearization of the entire world,” he said. But as long as the United States rejects the treaty and “constantly threatens and blackmails the DPRK with nuclear weapons … the DPRK is not in position to accede to the treaty.”

OLAUDAH Equiano, the Slave, who helped end the slave trade worldwide, has been honoured with a Google Doodle on what would have been his 272nd birthday today,

Olaudah Equiano, known as Gustavus Vassa for most of his life, is thought to have been born in the Eboe province, now southern Nigeria, on October 16, 1745.

Due to the absence of records, much of his early life is shrouded in mystery but in his autobiography Equiano describes the horrors that he encountered in his life.

This autobiography still stands as of of the most valuable and singular depictions of slave life in the Atlantic world.
In this autobiography, he describes how he was kidnapped and sold to slave traders with his sister at the age of 11.

They were then separated, and Equiano was shipped across the Atlantic to Barbados and then Virginia.

He recalled: “The first object which saluted my eyes when I arrived on the coast, was the sea, and a slave ship, which was then riding at anchor, and waiting for its cargo. These filled me with astonishment, which was soon converted into terror, when I was carried on board.”

When he arrived in the British colony of Virginia, Equiano was put to work weeding grass and gathering stones.

Equiano later wrote about the mistreatment of slaves, which included “cutting and mangling the slaves in a shocking manner”, on the Virginia plantations.

He detailed various punishments and humiliations that slaves had to endure.

In 1757 he was sold to a lieutenant in the Royal Navy, Michael Pascal for about £40, who renamed him Gustavus Vassa after a 16th century Swedish king.

Equiano spent eight years travelling the oceans with Lieutenant Pascal.

During this time he learnt the art if seamanship, was baptised and learned to read and write.

He followed the Lieutenant into Britain’s Seven Years War with France.

Pascal sold Equiano to a ship captain in London, who took him to a Montserrat, where he was sold to a leading merchant, Robert King.

Equiano spent the next three years trading and saving, and he was able to save enough money to buy his freedom for £40 (£6000 in the present day).

He used the skills he had learned to work as a seaman, steward and once, as acting captain.

When he returned to London, he came into contact with the anti-slavery campaigner Granville Sharpe.

Equiano, Sharpe and Thomas Clarkson worked closely in the Society for the Abolition of the Slave Trade.

He became an important addition, as he was able to give a first hand account about life as a slave.

This information became useful for those hoping to outlaw slavery.
In 1786 he became a prominent member of the “Sons of Africa” group, which consisted of 12 black men who campaigned for abolition.

He befriended and supported abolitionists who encouraged him to write and publish his story.

This led him to publish his autobiography, “The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano or Gustavus Vassa, the African” in 1789, which was his personal account of slavery, and his experiences as a black immigrant.

Equiano travelled widely promoting his book, which became very popular, selling out immediately.

His account shocked many, swayed public opinion and led many to feel shame on behalf of what he had experienced.

Copies of the book was sent to George III and leading politicians.

The book, which was one of the earliest published by a black African writer, fuelled a growing anti-slavery movement in Britain, Europe and the New World.

In 1972, Equiano married an English woman called Susanna Cullen. They had two daughters together, Anna Maria and Johanna.

Equiano, who had become wealthy from the book’s royalties, died in London on 31 March 1797.

He did not live to see the formal abolition of slave trade because this did not happen until 1807.

The historian James Walvin said: “After his death his book was anthologized by abolitionists (especially before the American Civil War).

“Thereafter, however, Equiano was virtually forgotten for a century. In the 1960s his autobiography was rediscovered and reissued by Africanist scholars; various editions of his Narrative have since sold in large numbers in Britain, North America, and Africa.

“Equiano’s autobiography remains a classic text of an African’s experiences in the era of Atlantic slavery.”

I asked her why, she said because the man had been having unprotected sex with her and she believed he was also HIV positive. I asked her since she was not afraid of being infected since she was positive herself, what was the need in trying to establish his own status. She explained to me that the man was married and the man was dating her friend, and that it was necessary to warn those two women about the man’s status.

That was a bizarre story. I would not have pursued it. But there were other issues between her and the man. The man seized her computers and her medical records and was distributing the information and harassing her. The man was publicly accusing her of deliberately infecting men in Abuja. This lady presented to me a very patent story of abuse in the hands of that man.

I clearly informed her that what she was asking me to do might expose her status, because I thought she wanted to keep it hidden. But this women (in writing, which I have) told me that she had actually made it public and that she did not mind her status being disclosed in the effort to stop Adesina (her boyfriend) from harassing her.

That was how we in DPA commenced work on her case and we made the case public in 2016. The woman was happy with our work. She praised us. She commended us. So, any idea that I made her status public is false. She made it public. She posted her stories everywhere.

It was at the end of the case between her and her boyfriend that I finally understood her motive. She knew all along that her boyfriend was married, but continued to date him. However, her boyfriend also started a relationship with her friend. She did not want her boyfriend to date any other woman. She felt that the best way to keep the man to herself was to disclose that he was HIV positive. She knew that if the man was known to be HIV positive, it would be harder for him to date other women, particularly that her friend. In an effort to disclose to the world that her boyfriend was HIV pisitive, she did not care about disclosing her owns status. It was a rather unfortunate and desperate situation for her. But we got to know that truth toward the end of the case.

It was a very public thing then. DPA insisted that the man would go for HIV test. The man actually requested DPA to send representatives to follow him for the test. He did the test and he published the result. It turned out that the man was negative. He never had unprotected sex with this woman. The only reason she falsely accused him of having unprotected sex with her was simply to

tar him with her own status. So, clearly to us, this lady is a troublemaker extra-ordiannare and a liar. But we didn’t know all that till the end of her case with her boyfriend. We got back her computer from the money and we stopped the man from harassing her.

In fact, the latest mention of her case recently, which she is now hinging her false claims upon, was in July when I commended her for her courage in coming forward to disclose her status last year. Apparently, while last year she was disclosing her status, I did not know that she had changed her mind this year and wanted to hide her status.

It is always troubling when an HIV patient, who had previously disclosed her status suddenly decides to hide it. It suggests she is in a relationship with someone that does not know her status. But I didn’t know all that and I was not interested in all that.

What actually happened was that, unknown to me, this same lady had joined DPA and climbed to a position in the DPA Chapter in Abuja. After her case last year, I did not follow her case anymore. I didn’t follow her to know what she was up to. So, this year on an entirely different matter where there was misconduct on her part, she was removed from DPA. She is bitter about it and she peddles these false stories of how I disclosed her status. That is utterly false. She even claims to have had a function in DPA and all that. That was not true. She was never an Admin in DPA.

I will post the message she sent to me at the end of our work for her last year. I urge those who read her stories to discountenance them as sour grape. She is bitter that I removed her from DPA. Also, she is enjoying the little fame that comes with fighting Emeka Ugwuonye.

I really don’t think it is proper for me to spend more time on this issue. I just hope that her friends will urge her to stop infecting men with HIV, if the allegations of her ex-boyfriend, Mr. Adesina, were to be true. While nobody should stigmatize her for being HIV positive, she has a duty to avoid infecting unsuspecting men with the disease as those who know her well have alleged.

The Nigerian police has uncovered a multi-million Naira truck yard that belongs to billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwumadike a.k.a Evans.
One Ngozika Ezeokoye, said to be Evans’ secretary was also arrested. Ngozi, had reportedly gone into hiding upon her boss' arrest.
Reports also revealed that Evans used his haulage company to gain access to his victim's financial status.
