Problem: I'm using Honda accord 2005 the gear oil was changed and since then i have issue with gear selection. I was told it's sensor,i got the sensor serviced it worked well for like 9hrs then continue the ssme issue of jucking and d drive light blicking but today after reversing it totally refuce to move to drive after much wait i can't move the gear pass neutral and drive , drive3. I can't change to park ... presently my key is in ignition I can't bring it out. Pls if you know of any good person dat can help fix this in abuja help. Thank you

Dextron II is hygroscopic, if air mixes with it for enough time it will loose viscosity and damage your gearbox

As long you don't have leakages, you should be fine

For your engine oil shortage, try switching to a different brand such as the American mobil1 which is different from what you get in their stations here.

The ATF goes for N16k but we can arrange for some discount. 1gallon should be enough for you.

Hello,

I am using 5w30 but have been noticing engine oil reduction in my last 2 change; I am on 3k miles at the moment and I have used over 5litre already. Is that normal? Car not smoking and it drives well.

I also notice my gear shifts to neutral when descending and it makes some noise before it then shifts to next gear, though it drives fine but I wonder if this means the ATF fluid requires changing? I have never changed it since I bought it over a year ago. I checked the fluid it's a little above the hot region and the colour is not black, though I don't know the ATF currently in it. If I should change the ATF, what's the recommended fluid

Which oil are you using for your engine?

For your transmission, first point of call is to drain and refill your ATF. Toyota recommends Toyota WS ATF for your car.

Please don't use that. Look for the Nissan approved Matic D, Matic J or K. Whichever is available.

For your automatic transmission, please stick to the recommended Toyota Type IV ATF
While for the engine Toyota recommends SAE 5w30 oil.

Black smoke? What I recommended was for your gear and not engine. Black smoke is totally not related. Have the car scanned as black smoke means fuel is not being burnt well.

First things to always check in a gear is the fluid. Your gear was designed to use the newer Toyota WS oil which has lower viscosity. So using the DexIII is a no no. I also hope the DexIII has not caused irreparable faults.

For the engine, if your mileage is over 200k, stick to the oil you're already using. However if engine is still new, no issues if you change.
Does your gear change smoothly? Which brand of dexIII are you using?
