It was an evening of entertainment and fun as the South East Campus Awards and Queen of South East Nigeria Pageant under the auspice of Newsland Integrated Media Services held its annual awards and pageant show on December 6th, 2020 at the Prestigious Oma Event Center, Awka.

The event which was witnessed by the crème dela crème of the society was laced with music and comedy. Artistes that performed include Flyboi, Prince Neche, Gpenzy, UnkuSP, YanBaba, SameGuy, DanSmart, Mc Apostle.
After what seem a fierce contest of beauties on the sprawl giving the judges hectic time to select the best among stunning angels, Favour Maduka was finaly chosen as the best, winning the Queen of South East Nigeria Pageant while Katherine Nwachukwu won Queen of South East International respectively.

Other winners include
Queen Ngozi Maryann as Queen of South East Africa;
Queen Ozioma Marrion as Queen of South East Education
Queen Cynthia Ibeh as Queen of South East Tourism
Queen Blessing Nelson as Face of Newsland 2020..

Being the winners of the competition, they now become representatives of the organisation and will use their offices to promote child Education, peace in Nigeria, Africa and across the globe.

Speaking with the newly crowned queen, Favour Maduka Queen of South East Nigeria 2020, she said her joy is unexplainable. She thanked the organisers of the event for making her dream come through while promising to represent and carry out the task she is expected of. “I feel awesome and overwhelmed.

It was a journey and a fight because all the girls were good, beautiful and smart, but I know grace worked for me and prayers too. The support from my family was outstanding and that gave me courage. I believe that the challenge ahead will be overcome as I will use the platform to Promote Child Education across South East Region, ” she said.

I really want to use this opportunity to contribute my quota to building of a peaceful society for all.


“I will work hard in line with the organisation’s objective to promote tribal and religious tolerance among Nigerians,“ she said.


Earlier, Mr Emmanuel Anabueze, the Project Director of the organisation, said that the pageant was aimed at promoting Child Education, peace as a veritable tool for national development.

On the heels of Christmas, the Founder of Johnbosco Onunkwo Foundation, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, will inaugurate a monumental site for the formal opening of the $50 million Johnbosco Onunkwo (Agribusiness Development) Farm Project in the state.

The farm project is one out of the many initiatives by Johnbosco Onunkwo Foundation, a non-profit, humanitarian organization. It was established for the development of full-scale mechanised agriculture.

Apart from training cooperative farmers on modern ways of crop cultivation for high yield and large scale commercial production, the project is aimed at granting farmers a non-repayable grant to cultivate crops on the irrigated farmland at Awa, Orumba North LGA and Umunze, Orumba South LGA newly acquired by Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, a great son of the soil who creates value with the potentials around him.

By November 2021, the project is expected to meet the millenium investment goals of the United Nations as it is steered on food security, eradication of hunger and crippling of rising food prices, creation of employment and means of livelihood for the local populace which all contribute immensely to agricultural productivity, economic growth, development and industrialization of rural areas.

Describing Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo as a visionary and dynamic leader, the chairman of the Johnbosco Onunkwo Agricultural Development Project (Cooperative), Mr. Basil Onubeze, expressed the view that the project involves fish farming, poultry, livestock and crop production. He further remarked that in the area of crop production, the project is limited to cucumber, rice, maize and cassava production.

"For this special project, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo has acquired about 10 hectares of land at Awa, Orumba North and at Umunze, Orumba South. The project is on-going, as we speak. We kicked off with production of crops like cucumber, maize, cassava and rice. Other aspects of the project such as livestock production will be kicked off immediately after the training of select farmers from Anambra State at Songhai Agricultural Institute, Cotonou. When the trainees come back with the knowledge they have acquired, they will train others at the grassroots level. After the training, the trainees will be empowered financially to start agricultural production," he explained.

Speaking to newsmen, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo noted that the multi-million dollars project is expected to employ 5,000 school leavers directly, create wealth, industrialize host communities, open up host communities with feeder roads, and attract direct foreign investments.

COVID-19: A COLLECTIVE FIGHT

This is one of the most difficult times for humanity; the scourge COVIC-19 has continued to generate panic and excruciating difficulty globally.

The geometric increase in mortality rate of this pandemic globally calls for stringent measures.

Most countries are shutting down following the meteoric devastating pace of this pandemic.

Owing to its severity, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic on Wednesday, 11th of March 2020 as the new coronavirus, which was unknown to world health officials just three months ago, has rapidly spread to more people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, the United States and gradually permeating Africa.

Currently, we have 65 confirmed cases in Nigeria within a space of 2 weeks. I commend the Federal Government, various state governments, Ministry of Health and most importantly, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for their concerted efforts towards fighting this ugly virus in the country.

Despite these efforts, more stringent policies should be introduced to avert great damages. Nigerians and most especially Ndi Anambra should adhere strictly to precautionary measures and directives from the World Health Organization, the Federal Government, the NCDC and the state government to avoid an escalated casualty.

We must collectively join this fight against this pandemic.

As part of the Coporate Social Responsibility of the GSS Group, we would be donating the sum of 2 million naira to Ndi Anambra towards the fight against COVID-19.

The immediate past Chairman of Bayelsa State Volunteers and former Special Adviser to the former Governor, Hon.Oyinkuro Lucky Asanakpo has admonished the people of the state to rally round and support the newly sworn-in Governor Douye Diri as the government settles down to deliver the dividends of democracy to Bayelsans.

IWD 2020: Queen of South East Distributes Hygiene Kits, Writing Materials to Female Students

As a way of marking the 2020 International Women’s Day, Queen of South East Nigeria distributed dozens of female hygiene kits and School writing Materials to girl students of selected schools in Anambra State.

While speaking at the occasion held at the St John Of God Secondary School, Anambra State, the Queen Of South East International, Miss Chisom Eze said that the distribution of the kits was to encourage the female students to be going to school even during their monthly period and Also Be Of Good Conduct


Queen Chisom further said that currently, The Queen Of South East Nigeria Pageant Organization is focusing on girl child education by investing in their education as an investment for the future saying that to achieve this, the organisation is working in synergy to ensuring the protection of girls in schools.


The Gender and Nutrition Focal Person also explained that the theme for this Year’s celebration ‘I am Generation Equality: Realising Women’s Rights’ was meant to reinforce the messaging around challenging gender stereotypes, fighting biases, broadening perceptions, and improving women’s participation at all levels of the economy.

Cynthia Uwah added that in line with the commemoration of this year’s celebration, the Student Entrepreneurship Catalyst For Development project had targeted teenage girls in a representative school to mark this year’s event in order to sensitise them on Entrepreneurs Hygiene Management and their rights as students.

In his Closing address, the Founder Newsland Integrated Media Services Organizers of Queen of South East Nigeria, Emmanuel Anabueze, while applauding the Guest Speakers Ify Aronu(SSA to Anambra State Governor on Broadcasting), Nnenna Offodile(First Queen of South East Nigeria),Nancy Nweke(CEO Nana Confectionery), Amarachi Okafor(Founder Paint Divah Ng), Joseph Okafor(Former SUG President Nnamdi Azikiwe University) and Collins Igwe(Financial Expert) for the time and Encouragement to the Students with thier initiative, said if Women are been educated and empowered, they would contribute positively to societal development.

It was an awesome experience to behold at the just concluded National Grand Audition of the Queen of South East Nigeria Pageant.

The Audition which was held at the prestigious Lumen Amusements Pack, the Park located in the Beautiful and Serene Ngozika Housings Estates in the Heart of Anambra Featured the Good, the Better and the Best of models from within and around the Region, mostly from IMO,Abia, Enugu Anambra and Ebonyi State.

After a fair tussle among the 26 contestants present,The winners of the beauty pageant will get an opportunity to win lots of Prizes Such as Getting An Official Car, all Expense Paid Trip endorsement deals and many more after going through the different stages in the competition.

The Grand Finale Event will be held in Anambra State on the 24th May With Lots of Great and Interesting Activities has been lined up for the event.

Last weekend marked another turning point in sports development in the annals of Anambra State as the ever blazing philanthropist and oil mogul, High Chief Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo was accompanied by His Excellency, the Hon. Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Dr. Chris Ngige, the distinguished Senator representing Anambra Central at the Red Chamber, Sen. Uche Ekwunife, the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor and others for the commissioning of a Premium Lawn Tennis Court built by the Johnbosco Onunkwo Foundation at the City Sports Club, Amawbia/Awka.

Commissioning the gigantic contribution to sports development in Anambra State, the Hon. Minister commended the efforts of Engr. Onunkwo in the development of sports in Anambra State maintaining that the project will go a long way in reviving sports in the state.

In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Okafor described the project as a welcome development urging well meaning Ndi Anambra and politicians to look beyond political affiliations in contributing to the overall development of the state.

The benefactor in his remarks, expressed thanks to God for the opportunity to be contributing to the society. In his words, “The court is part of our commitment in encouraging sports development in the state. We can’t excel in sports if we don’t have enabling environment and available facilities for such, hence why my foundation deemed it imperative to start off with the construction of the Premium Court”. He equally averred that Sports Development is at the epicentre of his cardinal areas of development as he vies for the Governorship election come 2021. Engr. Onunkwo called on wealthy individuals in the state to invest in sports as a way of arresting youth unemployment.

In his reaction, the Chairman of the Club, Chief Emeka Obidike was full of appreciation to High Chief Onunkwo for what he termed an unprecedented benevolence. He prayed God to bless him abundantly.

It was a evening filled with fun and amazing moments as the year one students of Nnamdi azikiwe University awka (Unizik) where officially welcomed into school by the student Union Government via the Office of the Director of Social Comrade Obi Emmanuel (Oringo2020)

The Event Which was tagged Fresher’s Night 2020 had lot and lot of talent on displayed which includes dance comedy music and also saw the crowning of the Mr and Miss Fresher 2020…..

The Peak of the Night was when Respected Awka based Comedian Prince Neche welcomed the New Students with his Wonderful Lines for over 20minutes on stage followed by Hype Men Slimshady and Kamsi all Brought the Roof down while Dj hotswagg made sure that the Incoming students had a wonderful night with the sweet sounds……………

It was also recorded that it is the first time students will be walking home with amazing prizes from sponsors….
