Career › Re: Why Do Graduate Engineers Find It Hard To Get Jobs? by ecolime(m): 10:52am On May 13, 2020
Nigeria is not an industrialized nation so there can never be enough jobs for engineering graduates. The number of engineering graduates in Nigeria definitely surpasses the number companies.. lol

A way out is entrepreneurship on the part of the graduates and giving support (steady power, tax holiday, patronizing local coys etc.) to local industries on the part of the government.- This will reduce importation of goods that can be produced here which in turn leads to job creation.

I studied engineering myself and trust me, less that 10% of my set are practising it at the moment despite majority having 2nd degrees.

This Op has a low self esteem and is acting childish. You need to get a job and start making money.

Reveal your true self to your wife and stop all these stupid games. Work on your marriage and get her back home (after settling your income issues) if she's still interested in the union. Else, you move on with your life and send the children upkeep money.

I wish I could help you sincerely. You must be traumatized.

hairyman:
Write them a letter of complaint against excessive billing and request for reassessment and refund of excess.

State clearly the month from which you want the reassessment done. Photocopy and attach the relevant bills.
Submit at your the Head office of your business unit. Make sure that you make a photocopy of the letter. The recipient at EKEDC will sign that photocopy (it must be signed and stamped)

This is for the sake of fulfilling the NERC requirement. EKEDC will never respond.
Give them the required 15 working days then write to NERC demanding the same thing (with your letter to EKEDC attached and the bills in question. Attach also a calculation of your energy consumption according to the items in your apartment) Submit at NERC Marina.

Note that there is no limit to the timeline of bill review. I have applied for a review of up to a year of bills and got 250k refund as ordered by NERC.

Note also that NERC may take time. Do not be dismayed at all. If push comes to shove, revisit their office and ask about the progress of your petition.
You will definitely get a review and refund.

P.S EKEDC usually have agents on nairaland. They usually attack this sort of response I provided by telling you that NERC does not function.
Please disregard them. Follow the due process and I assure you that you will get a review and refund.
I have petitioned NERC against both EKEDC and IBEDC and got a refund both times. 250k in Lagos and 48k or thereabout in Abeokuta
All points noted.

Let me see the outcome of their current investigation by end of this week. I will go all the way out if there is no positive resolution.

Thanks a lot hairyman.

Thank you for this, I know my ex very well, we've be together right from our innocent age.
There was a time she called me around 10pm, I was shocked as I couldn't pick her calls so I called her back afternoon the second day as I told her she shouldn't call me at that wee hours because of herself and marriage.
She told me I shouldn't worry about that, that she's free to call me anytime she like irrespective if her husband is aware or not.
I think she's the one calling the shots in the union.
Looks like you are yet to get over the lady. I know this is pretty hard for you to do but you just have to move on bro.

Hey guys!

My complaint has finally been acknowledged and their commercial department is looking into it.

I will update the house on the outcome.

Thanks all

Update: 01.07.20

EKEDC rectified the issue. The bill was revised and thank Goodness I have a Prepaid meter now. Truly, a closed mouth is a closed destiny.

IKEDC is better in terms of estimated billing. Their bills are cheaper. Pre-paid meter is still the best option
I lived in Ikorodu axis for several years and our estimated billing for 2 flats in a compound never exceeded 15K.

Hey guys! We have complained all to no avail.

From an estimated bill of N2,500 last year to N11,000/N13,000 in February/March. Now, they just brought N43,000 for the month of April.

This crazy bill is for a 2BD residential apartment in Surulere. They've refused to give us the prepaid meter that we applied for a year ago.

With this upward thrend, It means we should be expecting a monthly bill of N100,000 to N500,000 very soon.

Both market rep and company don't pick up the phone and we are still waiting for them to reply their mails.

Do we have to complain in person first before involving NERC?

How will create his next generation(s) without inbreeding?

Fejous:
We should remember that some Nigerians travelled to various countries around the globe for business or other purposes before the outbreak of coro. They never intended to stay back in those countries because they have business and/or family ties in Nigeria that require attention. The returnees are not those who are habitual residents, but Nigerians who travelled and intended to return home, but were stranded abroad. Not every Nigerian wants to live abroad and no one hustling in America will like to come back.
That's what most people here don't know. I have a work colleague that's presently trapped in the US. Not all returnees are immigrants

What happens if all their customers take loans and default because of Covid-19? Won't the companies fold up and sack their employees?

You should also know that these loans given to you are also deposits/investments of other people.

Do you want them to tell their depositors stories when it's time to repay them? Will you accept such stories if you happen to be one? This is business dude.
