Religion / Christians: Does God's Word Allow Divorce or Not? by ed(m): 11:23am On Dec 16, 2005
The NT states that if your husband/wife is not a Christian and wants to leave you, let him/her go. That seems divorce to me.

The word of God further states the cause of fornication as an exception to the rule. That sound like divorce.

Third, you do not become one flesh with your wife only, but also with the harlot, of course only if you lie down with the latter. This seems to link the 'one flesh' thing to intimacy rather than to marriage/wedding.

So I am not sure I understand and I would like to hear what some of you think.
Family / Re: Husband at Home While the Wife Works? by ed(m): 10:46am On Dec 16, 2005
If you read proverbs chapter 31 you see what a woman can - and should - do. In the old testament the men sit a the gates of the city; I understand that to mean they are discussing things important to life. So I am not sure that the western model of man working woman at home is the truth. In the past, we were all farmers or lived in small communities, life was less paced and people lived and worked together in their homes.

In my hope and vision for you, you have a real home , where man and woman are present in a way throughout the day, live with each other, with their children, with their neigbors.

Letter to the Corinthians:

Husbands love your wives and wives respect your husbands.

I noticed the difference " love " for the wife and " respect " for the husband. Very important difference, very important teaching.

A woman needs love, a man needs respect, primarily. Neither can 'blossom' without.

So respect your husband and you will live with a happy man. Note: respecting a man is not necessarily easy for a woman; this has to do with their different 'make-up'. Loving a woman doesn't seem to be that easy for a man either. The clue for men is: whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you even so to them. So, do for your wife what you would like her to do for you and you will live with a happy wife.

The other key to marital happiness: forgiveness.

All this is included in being faithful to the Lord and fearing the Lord as pretysmile and Swish have stated.
Without all this it is going to be a difficult task.

One , two or three blows on the butt, that's it. Insist in obedience.

Apologize to your child and ask him or her to forgive you when you shouted.

Wrong question. A housewife is a working woman.
