Fallout of primaries: Frontline Delta PDP governorship aspirants align with Obuh « The Eagle Online Following from the first set of primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State, which has seen governorship aspirant, Sir Tony Obuh, apparently coasting home to victory, some frontline aspirants of the party have started aligning with him. Available information over the weekend had it that the aspirants believe that with the emergence of Obuh’s supporters from virtually all the local governments of the state as delegates to the governorship primaries, there was no doubt about where the pendulum will swing on Monday. The governorship primaries of the PDP holds all over the country on Monday. The results of the initial primaries indicate that Obuh’s camp clinched 21 local governments as against two for Senator Okowa, one for Chief Godswill Obielum and one for Ndudi Elumelu, even though he lost his local government to Obuh’s supporter. Those for Obuh who picked their constituency tickets included Lady Angela Nwaka, Aniocha South; Uzoma Idabor, Aniocha North; Hon. Isaac Ulebor, Ika South; Hon. Tim Owhefere, Isoko North; Barrister Orezi Esievo, Isoko South Constituency I; Hon. Johnson Erijo, Isoko South Constituency 11; Hon. Peter Onwusanya, Oshimili South; Hon. Pat Ajudua, Oshimili North; Erhiatake Ibori, Ethiope West; Comrade Izeze Rume Reuben, Ughelli South; Samuel Mariere, Ughelli North I; Prince Eric Oharisi, Ughelli North II; Olorogun Arthur Akpowowo, Ethiope East; and Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, Okpe. Others are Efe Ofobruku, Uvwie; Hon. Godwin Toristseju Abigor, Warri South Constituency I; Hon. Denis Omovie, Warri South Constituency 11; Hon. Daniel Mayuku, Warri South West; Hon. Dan Yingi, Burutu Constituency 1; Hon. Kennedy Daubry, Burutu Constituency II; Hon. Monday Igbuya, Sapele; Hon. Azuka Azaka, Ndokwa West; Hon. Alphonsus Ojo, Ukwuani; and Pius Labo, Bomadi. Senator Ifeanyi Okowa clinched Ika North East and Warri North, with Tony Elekeokwuri and Chief Michael Diden claiming the tickets respectively, while Ndudi Elumelu’s campaign manager, Chief Moses Odibo, won in Udu and Godswill Obielum taking Ndokwa East with Friday Osanebi picking the ticket. All the other governorship aspirants were defeated in their various local governments, including Hon. Victor Ochie, Prof. Sylvester Monye and Chief Ndudi Elumelu, whose candidates lost to Uzoma Idabor in Aniocha North Local Government Area. Reports say some of the aspirants are already negotiating with the Obuh camp with the possibility of stepping down for him ahead of the forthcoming governorship primaries on Monday. Politics / Kwankwaso Calls Jonathan And PDP Weak by eddie1(m): 2:52pm On Dec 01, 2014 |
Jonathan's adoption by PDP tantamount to weakness - Kwankwaso By Austin Ogwuda, Enugu KANO State Governor and a presidential aspirant of All Progressives Congress (APC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, yesterday in Enugu described the adoption of President Goodluck Jonathan as the sole presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2015 general elections as a sign of weakness. *Kwankwaso Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after meeting with APC delegates from Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra States, Kwankwaso said, “I see that as a positive development for the party (APC). Weak parties have no candidates. Medium strong parties have maybe one candidate. A mega party like APC should have as many candidates as possible. “And not only number, you can also look at the quality. That shows clearly that God willing, come 2015, APC will defeat PDP. If you look at it in 1999, we had real primary elections in Jos, so also in 2003 when we had sitting President. 2007, we had primary election. We also had primary in 2011 when we also had a sitting president. “Now, PDP has gone from grace to grass. Today, they have only one candidate. They call it sole candidate. Jonathan is now the sole administrator of PDP. That is a sign of weakness of PDP. That also clearly shows that PDP has gone down, and God’s willing, we will kick it out, just like we are trying to kick out polio in the North”. On the issue of four presidential aspirants emerging from the North under the canopy of APC, the Kano Governor described it as a positive development for the leading opposition party.
