You have no proof about men being weaker vessels in sexual related matters as bible assigned that phrase to women.
Women also get tempted but they have self control.
The way society praise a promiscuous male and frown at promiscuous female is the cause.
If a guy wink, smack lips while staring lecherously at a female, everybody would scream bad guy but a female does the same, they will start calling her all sorts of vile names and then, God and morality is remembered.
A lady who's fittedly dressed would also be raped by some men.
Don't think someone dressed as Adichie won't be raped because she covered up.
Lies!
Do your research. men are considered weaker vessels in sex matters mostly because of lack of the self control you pointed out up there which most women do. and it's no coincidence the society sees it that way.

What about men portraying their masculinity with nudity?
Do you see women objectifying them?
Men are the cause. Accept or deal with it.
yes! women are the ones that scream for abs on men.
obviously they got a soft(and wet) spot for guys with finely trimmed pectorals.
so it's a two way thingy. i notice the way females(like yourself) look at guys with abs at pools and anywhere that warrants a guy going shirtless. if i upload a shirtless pic on my profile, ladies would self-service to it grin

Women are not objectify themselves.
Men are pervert.

It's as simple as that.
A woman can wear or flaunt whatever she wish.
Mtcheew
Gbagaun! grin

That aside, apart from the fact that some men are pervs, women who don't want to be objectified should moderate what, how, and the frequency of whatever they want to flaunt.
men are generally considered weaker vessels in matters of sexuality and the sensuality of the opposite sex.

that being said, women imho are the cause of their objectification bar some perverted men

I once asked a female friend ,after I noticed the way she spoke a bout men and women if,she was a woman rights activist. She denied and began to explain her stance equality et Al.

Lately there has been a sudden obvious awareness and proliferation of women speaking up and talking about feminism which is now becoming a popular word I Nigeria. I notice that many still it misplaced and I'm even confused too.

What actually is feminism? Is it right or wrong? What are the core principles, merits and demerits?
hahaha
feminism is no popular word in Nigeria, just on naira land.

and for the meaning of feminism, let Google be your friend.

Romance / Present Day Feminism: Rather Uncalled For.(personal Opinion) by EddyBlingzz(m): 10:31am On Jun 23, 2015
This piece is being typed by a neutral mind. I'm no woman hater, never been.

Feminism, according to Wikipedia " is a range of movements and ideologies that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve equal political, economic, cultural, personal, and social rights for women.

In my opinion, these Rights have already been granted them in all continents of the world. Africa inclusive. Now, what are the rights they are advocating for? the average feminist will immediately name the following; the right to vote and be voted for, the right to hold public office, right to own property, right to education, access to serve in the military, to enter into legal contracts and to have marital and parental rights.

Any logical-thinking person who is up to date and is abreast with the happenings in the world presently as regards to the equality of genders is of my opinion.

although males seemed to have dominated in ancient cultures there were exceptions and besides, gone are those days. The modern world has come to embrace over time the equality of men and women.

I wouldn't want to begin giving names and stating instances in order not to make this too lengthy but in the present world, there are female Presidents(even in Africa), prime ministers, governors, others holding public offices, and in the military. there are women In every field you find the men and sometimes they are more successful than their male counterparts.

Simply put, I think women already have the equality they have for so long fought for. women (in this case, feminists) who still think there is need to fight for their rights are fighting an already won Battle. there is no need to aggressively fight for equal rights for they already have it. quote me on this anywhere smiley

Now, i don't really blame them, I think it is just a psychological thing. their trying to be defensive is as a result of the knowledge that before now, in most parts of the world they(women) where considered inferior and deprived of some basic rights.

Earlier feminists have fought for and achieved the equality of women to men- if the present situation (women indulging in any venture in life they deem attractive without any opposition but rather, support from the society) is anything to go by.

present-day feminism is uncalled for.

I believe we are all adults in this forum. I have stated my opinion and anyone with views in contrast to mine should feel free to bring up his or her points in a mature argument devoid of insults. thanks smiley

Shut the fvck up and don't try to sound more silly that you already are.

Where is the self adulation In my post?
All the comments where I opined in the first person was just because I wanted to elucidate on my point using myself as an example.

Trying to associate with what? Are you foolish, plain ignorant or both?
What do you even know about me that gives you the right to make such _stupid assertions?

Never you in your pathetic stay on Nairaland ever quote my moniker to spill such trash again.

just what I expected grin

I know your type. I've never been one to bandy words with females. much less your type.

I've stated what I wanted to and you spewing trash doesn't change that fact.

She has been a feminist since she stopped trolling but always on lowkey.
you see my point? she only started being a feminist after she stopped trolling.

you don't just wake up one morning, come online and start "being" a feminist.

obviously the troll path did not get her the attention that feminism is doing at the moment.

trust me, I know a fake when I see one grin

Why banking on speculations
I thought very hard about replying this.

I don't bank on speculations. I only state things the way I see them(which almost always is the way they are).

it's logical that she wants to be a feminist just now when that term is garnering attention and is being associated with intelligence and courage on the part of the female- I don't have a problem with that cool

but I hate it whenever I come across a post that reeks of self adulation. all she did was say "she"(that I don't know as a feminist) is this, that and all that can be.

a neutral person who reads that post will be of my opinion.

First of all, most Nairaland feminists are smarter and more intelligent than their other female counterparts.
Prove me wrong if you can.

Now watch as I debunk your baseless claims.

1. Feminists are not extremely rude. In fact, they are very polite. It's only when you provoke or insult them that they show you their other sides.

2. Like I said before, Nairaland feminists are not rude or disrespectful. If by being respectful you mean "licking asss" or being sycophantic in their comments, then you must be on a long thing, because We don't like asss.

3. Feminists don't hate men. We only hate the fact that men feel they are better or of a higher class than us. And as such we should treat them like our superiors and accord them such respect.
Feminism is all about a believe in the equality of the sexes so if we see a man who feels he is above us, or he is more superior than us, we will prove to him that he is not. Not that we hate him.

4. Nairaland feminists are not biased. I myself I am not biased. I say things as I see them and I know a lot of ladies who aren't biased in anyway.

5. Feminists are not delusional to themselves or the society.
And who the hell told you that feminists find single or divorced mother more appealing?
A lot of feminists embrace the concept of marriage and long for the day they get married. The only thing is that she would want her husband to respect her views on feminism, even if he doesn't support it.
Come on, there are acclaimed feminists who are happily married. You have the likes of Beyonce and Chimamanda

6)I don't know where you got this idea from but you are wrong. Most feminists here on nairaland are not even married so how would they understand a marriage situation and what to do when they have issues.
That being said, a feminist would never advice a lady to leave her marriage because of simple issues that can be handled through other means.
Except the person isn't using her brains.

7)There are many Nairalanders who are championing the cause of feminism and at the same time are still dedicated to their religions.

8 )You are the one making a hasty generalization with this point you gave.
Everyone has a right to their opinion and views. You can't force someone to join in your cause. Because someone doesn't support your views doesn't mean the person is "bad"
Feminists don't see men who don't share their views in the way you just described.

9) I am a feminist and I won't describe myself as naïve. I have had experiences in life and those experiences have shaped my mind and the way I view things.
ooh my goodness! grin

who exactly was this post directed at?

all I saw while trying to read the post was a confused and undecided female trying to be associated with the new cool of being a feminist on nl :'\

just when did you become a feminist miss? all you did was state unfounded points that obviously must have been a result of your daydreams.

I hate self adulation angry
