ENUGU-LEADERSHIP of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has condemned, in strong terms, those advocating that their leader, Nnamdi Kanu should under secret trial as ruled by Justice Binta Nyako. Condemning especially some Yoruba who have been using the social media to say that it was meet that Kanu should be tried in camera, IPOB asks if they would have supported a secret trial for the late Yoruba leader, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. A statement signed by IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful, in condemning those supporting secret trial for Nnamdi Kanu to learn from history and stop supporting evil. Here is the full statement of the organisation. “The indigenous people of Biafra IPOB worldwide and it’s leadership condemn those Nigerians supporting secret trial for mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case. “To all Yoruba and other Nigerian commentators supporting secret trial of Nnamdi Kanu. Stop your infantile digression and address this simple question. “Was Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s treason trial, mind you not treasonable felony, conducted in public or secret? Another question you must answer is this, was the then Action Group and today’s IPOB the same? Which of the two do you consider more dangerous, in view how the former spread anarchy through major Yoruba towns at the time? I put these questions to you in the hope that you are a student of history. “Some of you e-rats who forget that there is a discipline called history. It records major events of our lives and preserves such for posterity. “Chief Obafemi Awolowo was charged, tried in the open and convicted of the more serious charge of treason which is a capital offence. He was dumped in Calabar prison until Ojukwu released him. “Yes Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu an Igbo man and leader of Biafra granted pardon to Awolowo and released him to Yoruba people. It wasn’t Hausa Fulani North that released Chief Awolowo, it was a Biafran. “These are verifiable historical facts cleverly hidden by the hegemonic forgot to tell since the release of chief Awolowo, hence all of you e-rats continue to wallow in ignorance till date. “This is IPOB! We deconstruct our enemies with facts and figures that is why Nnamdi Kanu’s court case is a blessed opportunity for we Biafrans to lay bare before the world and human conscience everything wrong with the contraption called Nigeria and why it should not be one. “Some of you who are internet rats in support of secret trial must know that the godfather of Yoruba politics Chief Obafemi Awolowo was a convicted felon and that is a tag Nnamdi Kanu can never be associated with. “If Chief Awolowo that committed treason was tried in the public with full media attendance, how much more Nnamdi Kanu answering to the lesser charge of treasonable felony. “This is why white people assert with some degree of accuracy that black people cannot reason. This hypocritical attitude of some of you social commentators is indicative of the underlying pathological hatred you people have towards Igbo, which is largely driven by envy. “Our question to those who claim to be social media practitioners is this, would you have supported a secret trial for your Chief Obafemi Awolowo? “Within your predictable answer lies the reason why Nnamdi Kanu and his supporters don’t want anything to do with Nigeria. “You are vindictive, spiteful race of envious and cowards you are. Then why are you in support of secret trial for Kanu? Do you now see how terrible you saboteurs are as human beings? No wonder Hausa Fulani took Kwara State nobody say anything. May Chukwu Okike Abiama have mercy on you,” the organisation declares. Read more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/12/ipob-blasts-yoruba-supporting-secret-trial-nnamdi-kanu/

BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS KIND OF CREATURE IN NAIJA BEFORE OOO |
Chinese customs seized over three tonnes of pangolin scales, state media said, in the country’s biggest-ever smuggling case involving the animal parts. Shanghai Customs found around 3.1 tonnes of pangolin scales mixed in with a container of wood products imported from Nigeria, state broadcaster CCTV reported Tuesday. It estimated up to 7,500 of the creatures could have been killed. The reclusive pangolin has become the most trafficked mammal on Earth due to soaring demand in Asia for their scales for traditional medicine and their flesh, considered a delicacy. Pangolin State media have previously said the scales fetch around 5,000 yuan ($700) per kilogram ($700) on the black market — which would make the seizure worth more than $2 million. Although the international pangolin trade is illegal in China and they are listed as one of the most-protected wild animals, law enforcement remains weak. Pangolins are also farmed in the country and an online site selling traditional Chinese medicine offers them at 7,000 yuan per kilogram. The scales are nothing more than keratin, the same substance that makes up fingernails. Yet it has been falsely touted as a cure for multiple ailments, including cancer, among some practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine. Shanghai Customs arrested three suspects who were suspected of smuggling the scales from Africa since 2015, the report said. ABUJA- Rather than fight for the control oil resources in the Niger Delta, the government would Beg the agitators to dialogue and agree on measures to manage them, President Muhammadu Buhari has said. The president also expressed gratitude to God for making the farm harvest in 2016 bountiful, saying that it was the only out of economic recession amidst the crash of oil prices. The president spoke on Sunday when some residents of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja led by the Minister of FCT, Mallam Mohammed Bello paid him Christmas homage at his official residence within the precinct of the Presidential Villa. President who remarked that the security of the country was paramount to its development regretted that most of his campaign promises were yet to be met. He appealed to Nigerians for patience, stressing that he has not forgotten them. He said: “I think it is good to select objectives and be honest about it and work towards it. It is now almost 18 months since we resumed here. We are very lucky. I believe some of you followed us during our campaigns and what we identified are still fundamentals problems. “The first is security, and we kept on saying whether it is an organization or a country, we have to first secure it before we can manage it properly. Without security, nothing can work. “Secondly, the economy and the unemployment of able bodied persons. We look at left and right, from 1999 to 2014, the crude production was over 2.2m barrels per day. The average cost per barrel was $100. “When we came, it was $37. I think it is now between $40 and $50. I asked for savings, there was no saving. I asked what they used the money to buy. They said they bought food and oil. I do not know how long it took me to recover from the shock. “Some of you will recall either by history or discussion that it was cocoa, palm kernel, cotton, agro-allied industry that we used to build infrastructures; be it rail or school. “We also used the produce to develop oil. When we got the oil, we threw everything away. We thank God this year, the harvest was quite good, otherwise, I do not know what we would have done. No money saved, no infrastructure built, power is still our main problem. Old roads have dilapidated and they needed to be repaired from Lagos to Kano, Port Harcourt up to Maiduguri. There are rail lines, we want to develop from Lagos to Calabar, from Lagos to Kaduna and the Abuja one. “If we can get the infrastructure done, we cannot even know the number of Nigerians that will get job. So we have to get infrastructure. It will take tankers and other articulated vehicles off the road. We will save vehicles and we will save lives and we will get jobs for a lot of Nigerians. “I want you to talk to people to be patient with the government. We are always thinking about our country and we are thinking about our people. “God has given Nigerians. A lot of preachers and resources both human and materials, we better do the same thing for our children and grandchildren. “I assure you that the country and the people of the country are always uppermost in our minds. Our performance in the North East, Nigerians know that this government is serious. “For our friends in the Niger Delta area, we will persuade them that they should please sit down with us and agree to manage our resources rather than think of fighting it out.” Earlier in his opening remarks, the FCT Minister, Muhammed Bello commended Buhari on the success achieved by the Nigerian military in the Sambisa Forest last week. “We are very proud of this milestone and we prayed that Boko Haram never rear its head in any part of the country again,” he said. Also, the Chairman of the Christians Association of Nigeria, FCT branch, Rev. Jonah Samson remarked that the president’s anti-corruption had paid off, expressing optimism that the impact would outlive the present administration. “Corruption is a cankerworm. It is a terrible thing that we must kill. We urge you to ensure that the war continues. It should not end during this administration. “We thank God for the victory over Boko Haram. It is a thing of joy worthy of celebration’, he said. Highlights of the courtesy call were the presentation of a giant xmas card to Buhari by the FCT Minister and his aides and also the presentation of a Xmas greeting card and a locally-made artworks by the representatives of the Aso Villa Chapel. Other members of the delegation were the Archbishop of Catholic Diocese, John Onayikan, Bishop of Anglican Diocese, Abuja, Nicholas Okoh, some Muslim leaders, National Assembly members, traditional rulers, top government officials and security chiefs Read more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/12/we-ll-persuade-niger-delta-militants-to-dialogue-rather-than-fight-buhari/
