The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has warned governors against easing the lockdown on Coronavirus in their different states over religious activities.

In a statement released by Francis Faduyile and Olumuyiwa Odusote, NMA president and secretary-general respectively, Governors were told that the move can cause a setback on the fight against Coronavirus as it is not yet time for such.



The Governors were urged to reconsider their decision in the interest of the safety of lives.

The association said;

“Of particular concern is the declaration by the Cross River State Governor that social distancing is not needed while wearing a face mask.

“A moratorium on the lockdown to allow mass gathering in mosques and churches from Friday to Sunday in Rivers; the lifting of the ban on Friday prayers by the Katsina and Kogi governments.

“We are aware that similar orders have also been given in Ondo, Ebonyi and Imo states which have approved mass attendance of Easter services.

“While appreciating the prime place of religion in our national lives and especially the value Christians place on Easter, we place on record that there is now the evidence of community transmission of COVID-19.”

Nigerian artiste, Adekunle Gold has revealed he designed all his album arts, Flyers and other promotional materials.

He also revealed he plans to learn sound engineering so as to ease his song production and make it better the way he wants.

Paul Pogba has suffered another setback as his comeback is on hold after the Manchester United star fell ill – despite being given permission to attend his brother’s wedding in France on Friday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hoped to have Pogba available in time to play over the Christmas period after two-and-a-half months out with an ankle injury, but that is now in doubt following the latest setback.



Solskjaer revealed the news after confirming that Pogba will not play in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Colchester United at Old Trafford

‘Of all things he’s been struck down ill now,’ said the United boss.

‘He’s been off for two or three days – three days probably – so that’s not beneficial. That’s probably set him back quite a bit.

‘As I’ve said so many times, Paul’s a top player that we want to see him playing his best football at Man United. We just need to get him fit and match fit.

‘It might be half an hour, 45, 60, 90 minutes in the first game, who knows? We’re working hard to get him back but now he’s ill.’

‘We can talk about Paul all day long when you’re lacking that one creative pass or ideas maybe,’ added Solskjaer.

‘He has that quality that not many midfielders in the world have, so to get him back would be great.’

The Norwegian will rotate his squad to face League Two underdogs Colchester with Mason Greenwood set to start after scoring three goals in his last two games against Alkmaar and Everton.

‘He’s making it hard for me to leave him out,’ said Solskjaer. ‘I remember when I came to the club as well and I kept scoring a few goals but still I felt I could perform better.

‘I wasn’t involved in the game but the manager’s comments were that it was hard to keep players who score out of the team. It’s very very difficult now to put a team out there without having Mason in my mind, yes.

‘We’re going to make changes again because there are so many games. I hope the team I’m going to put out is going to be a strong enough one to win a game. At home against a League Two side, you’re big favorites and we’ve got to accept that, but we have to go out there and earn it.’

Solskjaer believes that lifting the Carabao Cup will only help to give his players self-belief as he continues his rebuilding program at United.

‘Any player or any team – and for us now it’s a good team that’s building – would benefit a lot from winning a trophy or getting to a final,’ he added. ‘Now we’ve got a chance of getting into the semi, so for us this game is a big one.

‘Winning the first trophy is massive for a player, no matter which one it is. I remember when Patrice (Evra) and Nemanja Vidic won their first trophy against Wigan (League Cup in 2006). When you get that feeling of winning it’s something you want more and more of.

‘This group has a few players who won the championship, but there’s less and less left of them so for us it would be massive.

‘The prize now is getting to a semi-final and then you’re not too far away. The motivation and the attitude will be right on Wednesday definitely.’

The Lagos Water Corporation in Onikan area of Lagos Island was on Thursday, October 17, is reportedly suffered from huge fire outbreak.

Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Response Team, Lagos State Fire Service, Federal Fire Service and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) are reportedly at the scene trying to put the situation under control and confined to a secluded portion of the complex.

The fire which is suspected to have been caused by an underground gas or petrol facility was reportedly ignited from different places on the ground inside and outside the Water Corporation complex.


A news reporter rep from The Nation said

“The fire was reportedly discovered to have ignited from different places on the ground inside and outside the water corporation complex. We have not recorded any loss of lives during the operation, nor has injuries been sustained.

“The combined efforts of the Agency’s Response Team, alongside Lagos State Fire Service, Federal Fire Service and LASTMA on ground have paid off in ensuring the situation is under control. Though the suspected source of the gas leakage is still unknown, LASEMA’s efforts on behalf of other Emergency responders are yielding handsome results.

According to reports, a robbery victim bleed to death at the Zamfara state hospital after the hospital staff allegedly refused to attend to him for 5 hours.

It was gathered that the deceased was robbed and stabbed multiple times on his way to the mosque on Friday, October 4, for Jumma’at prayer after visiting his mother when a group of thugs attacked him.

Late Zurmi was rushed to FMC Gusau accident and emergency unit after getting stabbed multiple times in his stomach and lap, but the staff allegedly refused to attend to the dying man without a police report.

Even after the report was brought two hours later, the hospital allegedly requested for payment before he will be taken to the theatre for an operation.

Before the payment and blood were brought, Ibrahim passed away after approximately five hours of bleeding on the floor.

THUGGERY AROUND GUSAU TUDUN WADA VICINITY THAT CAUSED THE LIFE OF POOR IBRAHIM AMINU ZURMI

Ibrahim Aminu Zurmi on friday afternoon went to awala area of tudun wada to visit his mother, on his way back heading to mosque for jumma’at prayer.

He was attacked by thugs in filin jirgi area who snatched his phone and stabbed him multiple times in his stomach and lap. Laying unconscious in a pool of blood, a commercial bike man raised an alarms and eventually met someone who knew him (neighbor).
His intestines were fusing out of the brutally stabbed stomach, they rushed him to FMC Gusau accident and emergency unit where the hospital attendant refused attending to him until a police report is brought, his neighbor who rescued him fell at the feet of a hospital staff and pleaded for mercy and that was when the wounds were wrapped with bandage which could merely stop the bleeding. He was kept on the bare floor without any medical care.

After approximately two hours, Ibrahim was still laying in a pool of blood at a federal Medical Center until the police report was brought and that was when they gave blood sample and requested for payment before he will be taken to theatre for operation.

Before the payment and blood was brought, Ibrahim passed away after approximately five hours of bleeding on the floor.

A staff of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) identified as Sunday Meshioye, has allegedly committed suicide after he faced a disciplinary panel.

Mr. Sunday reportedly took his own life by taking poison.

South African media personality, Somizi Mhlongo has dragged Zambia's National Guidance and Religious Affairs Minister Reverend Godfridah Sumaili, for initiating the ban against him from visiting Zambia because he is gay.

According to Reverend Sumaili who banned Somizi from visiting Zambia claimed that inviting a gay person to the country would corrupt the morals of its citizens because it is a 'Christian nation.'

“First of all I was invited to some event in Zambia, I think so, when I heard I was not allowed or banned from the country I rolled my eyes because I never at any point intended to visit Zambia in the first place, I did not even know they had issues with people that are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Intersex (LGBTQI). A Federal High Court in Abuja says a candidate cannot be disqualified from an election for failure to participate in the National Youth Service Corps scheme.

The court made this pronouncement on Wednesday when it struck out a suit brought against the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, by a former senator, Iyabo Anisulowo.

The pre-election suit challenged the eligibility of Mr Abiodun over his failure to participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

The NYSC was established in 1973 and participation is mandatory for all Nigerians who graduate from a tertiary institution in or outside the country before they attain the age of 30.

As they were reluctant to get drawn into protracted discussions with feared negotiator Levy they wanted Eriksen to push for a move to help bring the cost of a deal down.

And his admission that his preference is to sort out a move this summer will be noted by the big-spending Spanish giants.

Eriksen told Ekstra Bladet: ‘I hope there will be a clarification during the summer. That’s the plan. In football, you do not know when a clarification comes. It can happen anytime. Everyone wants it best if it happens as soon as possible, but in football takes things of time. You can’t set a date yourself.

‘It depends on Daniel Levy. And another club has to come.

‘There are not many points that Tottenham cannot meet. If I have to go, then hopefully it will be a step up.

‘But it requires Real Madrid to call Tottenham and say they want Christian. And they have not done so yet, as far as I know.’

It is far from certain Eriksen will get his move to the Bernabeu, especially given Madrid’s interest in another central midfielder, Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, who will also require a big chunk of their budget to sign.

And Eriksen refused to rule out seeing out the final year of his contract or even signing a new deal if his ideal scenario of a transfer does not materialize.

He said: ‘It is hard. It depends on the possibilities. If nothing pops up that is more exciting, why not stay in Tottenham? I have to sit down at the table and negotiate a new contract. If I [will] then sign a new contract, [it] depends on the conditions.’

The 24-year-old played his final MLS game last week, against City’s sister club New York. He will depart for Europe following the United States’ Gold Cup campaign.

Steffen is then set for a season with Dusseldorf, who finished 10th in the Bundesliga.

Aro Muric has acted as Ederson’s deputy for Pep Guardiola’s Treble winners given the injury problems that plagued Claudio Bravo.

Steffen, who has eight US caps, is no stranger to Germany having spent two years with Freiburg’s reserve side.

‘There are a lot of nerves, a lot of excitement, a little bit of sadness leaving the chapter in Columbus,’ he said earlier this week.

‘But I’m really focused on the Gold Cup and doing well here, and raising the trophy here, and then I’ll focus on what lies next.’
