EducationRe: Let's Found Out The Most Funniest Nickname We Gave Our SECONDARY Sch Teachers by edumamas(m): 8:25am On Oct 06, 2016
back in the days, we gave one of math teacher the nickname "REST IN PEACE", The had anointing for flogging. WE had another C.R.S teacher we called " READ YOUR BOOK", the man had anointing for knocking the head - you dare not have a book in front of you when he's passing. there was another math teacher we called "YOPEE", He was a corridor militant/police, you dare not be found in any of the corridors when it's not break time. you want to run, o bring it on, the man was usain bolt. though he calmed down when the bad guys arranged for his beating.

Mehn back in the days, school was adventure, I doubt if it's still that way now.

i just hope this does not mean what I'm thinking; cos if it does, then messi can kiss his career goodbye.

By the time he returns, MLS or Qatar will be call calling him for for retirement benefits.
sad to see the end of a great career.... undecidedi just hope this does not mean what I'm thinking; cos if it does, then messi can kiss his career goodbye.

sad to see the end of a great career....but I doubt those black-suited VIPs in the Barcelona's inner chambers are not already pulling strings. Hope this is not the reason he retired from international football, having known what we don't know. hmm...what do we even know
Politics#blameitnotonthevillains by edumamas(op): 7:25pm On Jun 04, 2016
#BlameItNotOnTheVillains

Blame upon blames are now fast becoming a new Nigerian order. Never hesitating to wish it away; because it's always easier to do.
And who said there's no quick fixes to every problem?
#just blame it on the villain already!
After all...
It's easier to be right, than to be righteous.
It's easier to pull the i-am-a-responsible-guy charade, than to actually shoulder responsibility.
It's easier to think up blames, than to think up solutions.
It is easier to travel the miles down the past, than to lift the curtain close by that opens to the future.

See...we all know that the blame game has become so stale; yet what baffles me is that, the blame game industry has never suffered from redundancy, massive layoffs or even unemployment. This industry boasts of top shots with intimidating CVs as recruits even down to suckling infants whose job description is to blame their eyes for not producing enough tears to induce their mother's breasts to produce more breast milk.

Funny huh?
Seriously you shouldn't even laugh at that; what is even more funny is when you hear some folks say things like, "I blame myself for not blaming anyone for my problems".
And I'm like, did I just hear you say 'for my problems'? YOUR problems and you want to drag others into it?...gosh!
I tell you, the Nigeria of today is home to blames, and I fear that if nothing is done urgently about this trend, it may eventually metamorphose into a way of life.

Here is my message...and I will say it in #BenBruce's voice....

Please play your role and accept the responsibilities that fall on your shoulders - no handing them down,no deflecting them and no passing them over.
#The villains have been victims for long
#Blame it not on the villains

EducationIf U Missed The Common Entrance Era - U Missed Big Time by edumamas(op): 10:58am On Apr 30, 2016
I remember back in 2002, having to study like my life depended on it just to be able to pass the then common entrance exams. Then we would attend extra mural classes, study and solve past questions and then on that fateful day of reckoning we would have our uniforms well ironed with sharp ghettos and then queue up before a chartered bus which would then convey us to the venue of the exams.
Then if your school should arrive the venue earlier than others, you will inevitably join your mates to man the role spectators or even guard of honor to other schools arriving later. The feeling of intimidation is usually inevitable when those rich kids from elite school starts sauntering in.
Then it was common to see everyone buying stuffs, because every parent or guardian whose child or ward was to partake in the exams always did try as much as possible to "box em up" - so that day is usually a blessed day.
Then comes the moment when each school will be shown the hall allocated to them for the exams (had about three schools sharing the same hall in my time). it was a moment to relish; at this time there are differences between the rich kid from some elite school and the poor kid from some local or community school. We were given a fair ground to compete and not forgetting - make acquaintances.
Then the moment of truth comes when long hours of studying and burning of the midnight oil will be subjected to scrutiny for the reward of going to the secondary school. I tell you, is not just about the exams, but about the consequences of the exams
Over 3 long hours, to decide your fate. Remember is not just about the exams. The consequences are what you are mostly anxious or dreadful about. For instance, if you pass, then you are sure of making any wish and your parents will go out of their ways to fulfill it. You automatically win a boasting right amongst your friends. You automatically become a reference point when parent in your area are advising their kids. Your status automatically is elevated. But if you fail the exams, the exact opposite will happen to you. The worst of it all is that you will repeat that class (which unfortunately is an extinct practice today).

then there was even a grading system for posting successful candidates of the exams to the secondary schools within each state. then boarding schools (especially in the FCT) where for low performing but successful candidates whilst the day schools were for high flying candidates. However, high flying candidates were allowed the option of choosing any boarding school of their choice in the event that they have such preference.

This original system of common entrance was the bomb. unfortunately our indomie generation have missed out on this sweet system that ensured that value was prioritized, and the place of study and hardwork duly rewarded. Back in our time we were complaining that the standard of education had eroded, not knowing we still hard some value left. Now we completely appreciate it. We just have to go back and reinvent that system.
I use to know how good memory was encouraged, today even a 10 year old keeps a calculator handy. We sat for JAMB without calculators and greatly excelled, but today with all the calculators and repetition of questions the failure rate has hut the roof.
Ladies and Gentleman,
WE'VE GOT TO BRING IT BACK
