Hello Nairalander, the check engine light triggers when there is an issue with either your engine, transmission or emissions system. Changing the engine oil or servicing the car is not the solution. Quite unfortunate, your mechanic will tell you there is no prob with the car cos your car is still running fine. (THIS IS A WRONG GUESS)
All you need to do now is get your car scanned. The scan result will now tell exactly where and what the problem is. Never allow your mechanic work on your car without getting it scanned first.

Why not conduct a SCAN on your Automatic Transmission, it could just be a change of the transsy oil or something like servicing the unit before you conclude that the gear will soon pack up.

It all depends on the service to be done. Most of the service centers don't really do much and they do come up with crazy bills. The most important thing is getting the right spare parts when it needs to be reduced.

OK, which type of scanner did you use, Try and get a Launch X431 Master.

It may be any of these solenoid prob (P07XX) but a simple scan will reveal it all to avoid a guess work or further damage.
Firstly, is your Check Engine Light ON? Even if not, you may still need a scan.

SRS AIRBAG

When you turn the ignition switch to ON (II), the SRS indicator should light briefly and go out. If it doesn’t light, stays on, or comes on while driving there is a problem with the Airbag and it needs to be checked. (Quoted from Honda Manual)

You need to get this unit diagnosed to know exactly what the problem is. If you check the owners manual, it is indicated that the airbag will not deploy in the case of an accident, Dont allow your mechanic give you a wrong information.

MAINTENANCE REQUIRED

The MAINT REQD light goes on (first blinking, then persistent) to indicate it's time to change the engine oil. However, after changing the engine oil, the light stays on. This needs to be reset for a fresh counting of miles.

Get this light erased after each service.

ABS

If the ABS light comes on, that usually indicates[b] there is a fault condition somewhere in the ABS brake system[/b] that the ABS computer is detecting. It is usually an electrical fault, such as a defective wheel speed sensor, defective power relay for the ABS module or pump, or, in some cases, a lower than normal fluid level in a dedicated ABS fluid reservoir.
