Dear Nairalanders,

I just got the Mazda Protege 2000model but discovered that the yellow CHECK light does not go off while am driving. The engine oil and oil filter have been changed but the problem persists. What do I do?My other car does not behave that way and my mind is perpetually on it while driving.
To the experts in the house, thank you.

Hello Nairalander, the check engine light triggers when there is an issue with either your engine, transmission or emissions system. Changing the engine oil or servicing the car is not the solution. Quite unfortunate, your mechanic will tell you there is no prob with the car cos your car is still running fine. (THIS IS A WRONG GUESS)
All you need to do now is get your car scanned. The scan result will now tell exactly where and what the problem is. Never allow your mechanic work on your car without getting it scanned first.
Hope this is helpful.
Best Regards.
