@ikengawo.eureka!you just discovered what has always been known.even inside the heart of igboland,people still refer to igbo thesame way.in my hometown,we say 'awum oru ma awudikwam igbo' which literally means you shouldnt call me igbo because i am an oru man.oru sees igbo as the people further up towards anambra state and benue.you should therefore drop the topic because it will end up imploding we igbos.

I might have been a bigger fool myself.i've wondered for the past 3 days why sunny (odogwu) would stoop this low.i just realised that what was posted is sunny (okogwu).

Before criticizing,one has to prove himself by example.i've never admired soyinka and never will.he killed our university education by starting cultism.he even went as far as giving preference to seadog cultists in the frsc.before i will respect his views as a man he has to renounce cultism and apologize for thousands of cult-related deaths and school drop outs.anyone that says otherwise condoles cultism and should be seen as a cultist.

For the 3rd time i've found myself liking 2face again.one perculiar issue is that it takes me 2 months to like his music.same thing happened to me in grass2grace.when 'enter the place' 1st came out last june i thought 2face was finished.8 months later, it is surprisingly a chart topper and i now appreciate it.

@afrocynic.2face did african queen in igbo.timaya did dem mama in igbo,p square did ifunanya in igbo,d banj did igwe in igbo.2face and timaya particularly exclaim in igbo in most of their songs(chineke me!).i'm not igbo but i'm only being real.in the east and niger delta,we have an entirely different stars that sing in other languages.do you know asuo ekiye?korkormikor?m trill?frank d nero?chinweike(estar)?nwaba?desperate chicks?soty?ibiso?or you only consider lagos based as stars.

This thread dey laf me.how can you stay inside those ancient yoruba villages with rust roof and laterite mud bricks to presume that we listen to yoruba music. Here in ph all those una yoruba songs no dey make sense.duncan mighty sold the most last year and he sang in ikwerre and igbo.nigga raw na 2nd and flava na 3rd.na only dbanj and 9ice we buy and dem no follow for top 10.we prefer igbo songs.

This igbo-ijaw thing is very myopic in approach.we know that opobo,oyigbo,etche and onelga people are undisputed igbos.this issue will resolve itself when the turn of riverine governor comes in rivers state after ogoni in 2023.i doubt if they'd allow an opobo man there.

My g.f. Is igbo and her name is china.there might be some links.remember chi is also a chinese word.this recurs in several instances.another place igbos should look to is zambia and tanzania.i think zambias last president was chiloba.

Timaya cant be compared with duncan mighty.duncan is a genius who has projected ikwerre in good light.timaya makes repetitions of few phrases with monotonous beats.jesus bu eze,scatter my dada,unu ga egbu madu,dancia for me,ako n'uche, the list is endless.we love duncan mighty.i think korkormikor is da best from ph,y'all might not know him but he'll soon blow.he is gifted.

This thread is not a thread to argue about if ikwerre is ibo or not.check these out.orka-awka,okunano-awkunanaw,nwabara-wabara,jaja-wachuku-nwachukwu.which of these is correct?we all have rights to spell how we wish.even if it is established that ikwerre is igbo,it does not mean that ikwerreland belongs to igbos.

Dede1,it is true that correction of those wrong spellings were done after the war.it is also true that an ikwerreman that is called nnamdi could as well bear ndamzi depending on which part he is from.obi could as well be ovu.obinna-ovunda-obunda.okay an anambra person that bears chinyelu why cant you correct it to chinyere?elelenwo is the rightful name.nwa is igbo while nwo is ikwerre.ogbu nu abali is the full name not ogbu na abali.

@every poster.no city is owned by any ethnic group.we can only talk about the original inhabitants.ikwerres are undisputedly the original inhabitants of portharcourt.those 'r' added were previously omitted and corrected after the war.rumu is a dialectal form of umu meaning descendants.people from obio clan who inhabit parts of obio/akpo lga use rumu.they also use eli for land as against ali.other ikwerres call these obio towns elimgbu-alimgbu,eliozu-aliozu,rumuodara-umuodara.in most maps one sees okigwe spelt okigwi or igbo spelt ibo.infact igbo started being used in place of ibo after the war.as for all those so called borokiri and co,they were more or less uninhabited waterlogged areas which were sand filled.they therefore belonged to no one and claimed afterwards by okrika people because of land scarcity in their area.whether ikwerre is igbo or not is reserved for another thread.thread closed.

@ibime.oru is igbo.thats my tribe and its not lost like some people believe.we say oru and igbo are brothers.igbo has high benin and igala blood.in my area,a lot of people claim to have originated from benin.i believe we actually have minute jewish blood too.

Defining distinct language from dialect is almost impossible if the distinct language is mutually intelligible with the other.example is isoko-urhobo and efik-ibibio-annang.a small lingual group might be considered by some as part of a bigger group.This becomes even more difficult if the group is heterogenous.an example is igbo-ikwerre.if ikwerre (whose igbo is more mutually intelligible to other igbos than ebonyi,enugu and north-eastern abia) is considered an ethnic group,it means that there are well over 200 ethnic groups in south-east alone.i however must state clearly here that language is not the only determinant.the main factor is personal belief.if i'm from ikwerre and consider myself igbo,thats my cup of tea.if i consider myself different from igbo,no one can force me period.

@poster.it must have been long you came to nigeria.every city in nigeria is now nigerianised.even villages.in igboland people living in lagos are now treated with pity because they are believed to be suffering.nobody goes to lagos for holidays anymore.personaly i visit lagos only when i cannot be represented.the civilised cities in nigeria are now calabar and abuja.thats the dream destination of kids for holidays and sightseeing.owerri is also beautiful,mordern and civilised.every other nigerian city from benin to ibadan,aba,onitsha,kano,maiduguri,jos,abeokuta,warri,enugu and others are just like lagos.dirty in most parts with the decent area reserved for the rich.
