A heavily pregnant widow accused of shoplifting has been banished from Ugbema community in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.

It was gathered that community elders reportedly ordered the expulsion of the woman who recently lost her husband.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman had allegedly been stealing small items from shops to feed herself, her young son, and her unborn baby.

Her luck ran out on Saturday, October 10, 2025 when local youths apprehended her and subjected her to public punishment under the scorching sun.
Sources claim that community elders later directed the youths to escort her out of the area as punishment for her actions.

Many residents have condemned the action, stressing that the woman needs assistance, not humiliation, given her condition.

Luck shone on the security guards at the LAUTECH Teaching hospital in Oyo state recently after the governor, Seyi Makinde, ordered an upward review of their salary from N18, 800 to N80, 000.

The governor had visited the hospital on September 30 for an interactive session when one of the security guards found courage to speak about their meager salary. The security guard said himself and other security guards are suffering as they are not permanent staff of the institution and are not getting the benefits they are meant to get.

We are suffering. I have a family with three children. Please help us" he cried out.

The governor listened to him and asked how much they earn as salary.

‘’N18, 800'' the guard responded.

A top official of the hospital informed the governor that they are not staff of the hospital. The official stated that the security of the hospital was outsourced to a company and that N27, 000 is being paid per security officer provided.

Immediately, the governor ordered that all 67 security guards be converted to ad hoc workers and be paid N80, 000 monthly beginning from October 1. He ordered that the hospital immediately terminate the contract with the security firm.

A 27-year old carpenter identified as Toheeb Ahmed allegedly hacked his grandmother to d3ath in Ore, headquarters of Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State.

The tragic incident, which occurred at Aiyegbami Street, threw the entire community into confusion and fear.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect was apprehended early Tuesday morning, September 30, 2025 after suspicious movements around the victim’s residence.

“He has been coming to the house since last Thursday at midnight. This morning, he came to my shop to buy something and said, ‘Mama is dead.’ I felt sorry at first, but when he told me not to inform anyone, I became suspicious,” a resident narrated.

"Out of curiosity, I went to Mama’s room while he was away and discovered she had been hacked to d3ath. When he returned, I noticed he was carrying a cutlass and was accompanied by a friend, probably to move the corpse. That was when I raised the alarm.”

It was further gathered that the deceased, who had been blind for many years, lived quietly in the community.

Shocked residents described the incident as heartbreaking, attributing it to youthful recklessness and moral decay among the younger generation.

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested two suspected drug kingpins in Lagos and seized multiple consignments of cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine being prepared for export to Europe.
According to a statement released by the NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi on Sunday, the men were arrested for allegedly leading separate drug syndicates, as revealed in weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance by the Agency’s Special Operations Unit.
“While 64-year-old Nwosa parades himself as a successful textile merchant, 49-year-old Obiegbu is known to many as a businessman who is into wine distribution, but beneath their outward appearance is their hidden illicit drug business unearthed by NDLEA operatives after months of intelligence gathering on the two syndicates led by them,” the statement read.

A 43-year old man, Stanley Emeka, has displayed his boxing skills on his biological father, Nnandi Alaleme, as he inflicted injury on him with fist blows during a public brawl in Lagos State.


P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 31st August, 2025, at Sanya Street, Pleasure Bus/Stop, Oke-Odo area of Lagos, where they reside.

The Police found him culpable after interrogation and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, Stanley Emeka ‘M’ on the 31st day of August, 2025, at No 3 Sanya Street, Pleasure Bus/Stop, Oke-Odo, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did assault your father one Mr. Nnandi Alaleme ‘M’ by giving him a fist blows on the head and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under the criminal Law of Lagos state of Nigeria 2015.”

COUNT II:”That you, Stanley Emeka ‘M’ on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did break one Coca-Cola bottle and threatened to kill your father, one Nnandi Alaleme ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 56 (1) and punishable under Section 56 (2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”

COUNT III:”That you, Stanley Emeka ‘M’ on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal one Dell laptop valued at Two Hundred and Fifty and Naira only (N250,000), property of one Nnandi Alaleme ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 (1) (a) & (b) and punishable under Section 5) (a) & (f) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
