You may be right. Good thing they were not killed. I rather oil is spilled than blood being shed. |
Negro_Ntns:negro The struggle is already successful. The federal government is already begging for talks. |
The way I see it, MEND didn't face Yoruba. Its some Yoruba's that want to interpret it that way. If MEND want to face Yoruba, do you think that is the target they would bomb? besides, Lagos is a no mans land. If MEND want to blow up something that will affect the Yoruba, they would have done it in Ibadan, not Lagos. If Yoruba retaliate, i believe that will be the beginning of the end of Nigeria because MEND will surely hit back and this time harder and more direct. remember that the militants have been stockpiling weapons and preparing for war for more than ten years. They already have weapons in their disposal that the Nigerian army would be proud of. |
Negro I reckon a lot of crimes have been committed with the Nigerian hat against the people of the Niger delta. Lagos seem to harbour assets of the criminals (NNPC) that has destroyed the niger delta. |
very Interesting. Lets see how far they will get . All yorubas working in the Niger delta should start packing their bags. |
Remii:Remii They have already won and they didn't need any sympathy from other regions. Its other regions that need their sympathy so they can be given the opportunity to join MEND in negotiating their own freedom with the federal government. Other regions need to be restructured too but they are too timid to speak the language the government hears. |

mbulela:chief mbulela It seems to me you only side the criminals you want to see. If MEND actions in Lagos is criminal, then Nigeria's actions in the Niger delta in the last 40 years is nothing short of criminality. Criminal Nigeria seems to only understand the language of criminality. Please lets leave two criminals to slug it out. You say there is no struggle or movement in this so called militancy. Why be the judge and jury on a matter that is more of the Niger Delta business? According to them, they see a movement and a struggle. And I believe their opinion matters most. |
Lastpage I believe you have based your splendid writeup on one or two false assumptions. The first is you wrongly assumed MEND and the niger delta want to secede. Wrong. They just want to have their full rights as a nation within the context of nigeria. The second assumption which springs from the first is that you think the niger delta needs the sympathy of other regions to achieve their aim and objectives. Wrong. They are already about to achieve their aim with or without this sympathy. The federal government has already indicated a willingness to meet their demands. |
Bialegend:Lets move on from 1966. Most of MEND fighters weren't even born then. Besides, its now niger delta struggle not just Ijaw. |
Fhemmmy:Fhemmy I believe there is a saying that when you are pulling a rope from a bush and it gets stuck, you must go into the bush and find out what is holding it. Its very wise to address the root cause of any problem and the root cause of the niger delta problems starts in abuja and ends with the so called niger delta leaders which are indeed an extention of abuja. the root cause of all the niger delta problem lies in the Constitution. the land use act and other laws that were used to rob the people of their oil. So its a perfect strategy to focus on attacking Abuja and the economy. |

jassie:jassie Whether they are criminals or not, the bottom line is that they are getting their aims and objectives done. They have been able to get the attention of Abuja and their demands are about to be met. This is something no other group in the history of nigeria have never been able to achieve. |
edwardd:edward Instead of trying to attack MEND, they should instead channel that effort into fighting for their own freedom if they don't want to fight with MEND. Besides, I don't have any doubt about the ability of OPC, but if it comes to face to face battle tomorrow, they should not even try MEND simply because MEND have been preparing for a battle in the last ten years while OPC have not started. The MEND guys seems to have given up on life and now they want to die for their children and grand children instead of dying for nothing. No wonder they called it hurricane Moses. They feel this is the last fight, the last push before freedom. They have been training for this in the last ten years. Anyone who can take a boat from the delta all the way to lagos to bomb a facility guarded my the navy is really ready to die. |
asha 2:Thanks asha ![]() |
please guys. i am new. How do i quote a post? |
Some of you are just making mouth as usual and risk being labelled with the stereotype some people would like to associate with the yoruba ethnic group. Close your mouth for a minute and think. The aim of MEND attack have been achieved and that was to start making the people talk and ask questions about the nigerian question. Before we all felt the war in the delta is far from us hence it does not concern us. But now, the talk all over lagos and inside the buses is all about MEND demands. MEND are trying to raise the consciousness of a people who have been so brutalized into submission by decades of military rule and corrupt politicians. These people don't even know they are in slavery anymore. Fela called it suffering and smiling. MEND is fighting for every common man in the country. My biggest fear is that the yoruba especially will remain lukewarm hence missing their chance. The way things are going, only the niger delta will be restructured. Only the niger delta will enjoy true federalism. this is the time for the yoruba Nation and every common man to join be vocally. This is the time to start organising rallies in lagos and other major cities to voice support for MEND. Is it not true federalism the yoruba leaders have been fighting for? If the yorubas miss this chance to get what they want with the niger delta, they will have to raise up many years from now and fight for it on their own, paying with their own blood because freedom don't come free. MEND have the federal government in the balls and the federal government is ready to restructure the niger delta alone. |
