Hi everyone,

My wife is currently filling the family reunion application form. There is a place where they asked her for references in Germany (Question 10).

Is it okay if this is left blank, because she does not have any reference in Germany?

Thank you all, and all the best in your applications as well.
I think question 10 space is for work and student visa. In my time I left it blank

Hi everyone, I am currently filling the family reunion application form with my wife. Her appointment is in 2 weeks.
Does anyone know what should be filled for the following questions on the form:
1. Intended duration of stay in Germany?
2. Do you have health insurance that covers the federal republic of Germany?

We'll appreciate your feedback, thanks.

Goodluck to everyone still waiting for appointment date.
For the number one question just ignores it
For number two question is either yes or No

Finally, the torturous journey of getting a German National Visa for about 2 years ends today!

To God be the Glory!

When the journey seems longer than usual it is not always an indication that you have a problem.

Let me give you a highlight of my journey on this family reunion visa process.

I applied for a family reunion visa on the 28th July, 2020.

Received a mail for interview on the 8th July, 2021.

Had my interview on the 5th of August, 2021.

Lawyer called on the 4th September, 2021.

Lawyer visited on the 9th September, 2021. The lawyer tried to manipulate me to pay him 200k as bribe but my spouse called his bluff because I have complete documents. No issues.

We waited for the foreign office to contact my spouse but they didn't. So, we chose to contact them. He wrote them a mail on the 2nd of November, 2021 informing them of our application.

They responded on the 4th of November, 2021 and requested him to submit some documents.

He submitted these documents on the 12th of November, 2021.

Since then, we waited and waited and waited!

After the endless wait we started calling them at the foreign office and sending mails. No response to mails and no picking of calls.

Around January, 2022 they started picking calls. They informed us that the woman in charge of our file was sick and she just resumed. So we should expect a response in two weeks.

After 3 weeks, we called again and we learnt that the woman's health had gone very bad and she had gone off work. And our file would be given to someone else to handle.

We waited and called again. No definite answer. We are working on it nooni!

Then, 1st of March, 2022 the foreign office sent my spouse a mail. They apologised profusely for delaying our application because of shortage of staff and covid.
They informed us that the positive response had been sent to the embassy in Nigeria and we should contact them henceforth.

We called the Nigerian embassy again and they told us to send a mail and attach the response we got from Germany to it. This was done on 10th of March, 2022.

On the 15th March, 2022. Approval Mail sent to me.

Dropped documents in person at the consulate on the 16th of March, 2022.

Documents received back today, 31st March, 2022 with my Visa stamped on my passport. Dem grant their mama 6 months! grin grin grin

Note: My A1 expired on the 24th of January, 2022. I prayed they shouldn't request another one and it was answered.

Germany here we come o!

I'm open to questions.

God's speed to others that are still on the waiting list.
Congratulations , please pack enough foodstuffs ooo

6. When last did you see him

8. How old is your spouse
9. Do you understand german very well
10. What do you do for a living (the wife)
Etc... Dose were basically the major questions I was asked...
@Mrbigman
According to my friend then she was ask the above questions and much more like personal questions about her husband like favorite color, favorite good favorite dress, color of room, color of bedsheet, how much he earn, her relationship with the child the husband had with white woman before they got married, her relationship with the husband siblings, were she stay with her husband if he is in Nigeria, how much he send for feeding and so on! embassy also ask her a tricky question if she will go to Germany if they only Grant her visa and denied her 6 months old baby. According to her she called someone who had second interview that have cross over to Germany who told her the likely ask questions and she discuss them with the husband and anyone that both of them did not discuss and she doesn't know the right answer to it, she just said I don't know to avoid providing guess ànswer. She said second interview are usually tougher than first interview note: you and your spouse will be interview at same time make sure your answers correspond
If everything goes well with the second interview it doesn't take time before you are ask to submit insurance.
Above all you need prayer

Pls, ppl who have been contacted by the embassy lately for visa approval, did your email have an ‚Approval Mail‘ (AM mail) as the heading or embassy just asked you to come with your passport? And no travel insurance was also requested.

Again, was anyone asked to come at a given date or visa will be denied.

My wife got such manner of email today and it’s confusing what that means.

Just an email requesting her to come on a particular day and time.
I am suspecting is a second interview, did your home office also give you appointment for the same date? A friend of mine got such letter from the embassy last year. All you need to do now is to calm down and look for someone who has gone for second interview before to tell your wife the likely ask questions and also go through the copy of the Visa and questionnaire form she filled when she went for her interview. The letter means embassy is not satisfied with a particular area in her visa matter.

Good evening people. Please I have a question.

When the foreign office sends a mail to the spouse in Germany that the application for family reunion is considered already, how many weeks will it take the consulate in Lagos to communicate the decision to the applicant in Nigeria?
I heard from them on Friday that is after two weeks, I only wrote mail to them with the screenshot of the mail forwarded to my spouse by the foreign office

I stay in Abuja. My mum stays in kogi but is coming to Abuja. I was thinking she should do the affidavits for me here in Abuja. Can't the lawyer verify and stamp in Abuja court? Remember that the lawyer is also visiting my home in Abuja. So, what do you think?
Abuja is better. Also just a suggestion since you are getting an illiterate court jurat for your mum then she shouldn't sign the affidavit but use thumb print to be on a safe side bcus since she is your deponent of affidavit the lawyer will ask her to sign few forms and if the signature in the affidavit is different from the one the lawyer collected during your verification, embassy will request you to submit another affidavit of spinsterhood after your verification is completed.
Concerning your mum filling the form it depends on the lawyer that is sent to you, some lawyer may allow your cousin fill it why your mum sign expecially if they are in a hurry while others will ask your mum the questions in the form and fill in the answer she provided
TravelRe: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Ejopee: 9:38pm On Mar 10, 2022
If you stay in kogi state and the lawyer is coming to kogi for the verification process then do the affidavit there bcus the lawyer will go to the court for confirmation and stamp
Hello Fam. Please I need help here. Thank you.
1. "Affidavit of consent of the parents for the child". Is this supposed to be a written consent letter by the child's parents or the parents go to court to swear/declare it?
2. "Illiterate jurat".  Is this gotten from the court?
3. If ILLITERATE JURAT is declared, does that mean the lawyer will not ask my mum to fill the verification form? Or should I put my cousin on standby to help her fill the form?
4. My mum lives in kogi state but will be coming to Abuja for checkups. Can she do the court affidavits in Abuja or she MUST do it in kogi state?[/quote]

Your spouse will write a consent letter permitting the child to come and join him which he will mail to you and you will print out and take along with to your appointment
Note : you will also write your own consent letter with signature permitting the child to go and meet with the father in Germany

Bigby007:
Hello House,

My family and I presently work and live in Nigeria and I just got a job contract). The travel agency supporting my and family's relocation will process fast track. Please I have a few questions with regards to the documents needed for appointment:
1. Can someone please share with me template for 'Motivation letter'
2. For spouse application, they requested affidavit deposed by father stating no marriage prior - how do we go about this.
3. They also requested marriage and family photos - we only have soft copies of these. Can we print on normal A4 or should we do photo prints?
4. For children application forms and declaration- how do we sign since they are Under 5 years and don't have that, can we just use their initials?
5. Still on children, do we need to provide:
a. registration of birth of the hospital and name/address of the clinic since we are providing NPC?
b. all school records, nursery records and names/addresses of schools attended - are these necessary/mandatory since they are U5?
6. Lastly, how long will the processing for my family take since we are applying together?

Thank you very much as you respond.
From experience let me comment on the kids application:
(4) the father will fill and sign the kids application form and put in bracket
( father) at the front of the signature, in my case I put mother bcus I am in Nigeria with the kids
(5a) yes you will provide birth certificate from the clinic, where the kids were given birth to and as well as the NPC certificate
(5b) yes school records is mandatory, in my case I submitted my kids school results of three term each and then when lawyer came he collected a copy of the school register.
Note: always cross-check every documents before submitting them at the embassy to avoid any error bcus lawyer will verify them

Step by Step on how I obtained my family reunion visa.

1. Got married in the church 07.10.2017 ( so my church marriage certificate was what i used to process my visa)
2. November 2017, I enrolled in german language school in lagos .
3. December 2017 ( I took the A1 exams in Goethe institute Lagos).

4. After the result came out, I started looking for appointment. I noticed that they are ususally no available appointments during the day. So i tried at midnight and i got one for 3.01.2018
Before going for your appointment, make sure you have all the required documents and 2 to 3 photocopies of each document. Appear at least 30-40 minutes before your appointment.

The visa officer might ask some questions in German. In my own case, I was asked my name,my address and the name of my husband. Don't freak out, they are jsut basic questions.

5. A week after my appointment, my lawyer contacted me and started the investigation. He went to my family house, he visited the place i was staying in Lagos, my primary school, secondary school, university, the church where i wedded and the hospital where i was born.

6. Feb. 2018. I got an email, that I should submit my passport to the embassy, but the passport should bear the last name of my husband.
7. This process took about 3 weeks.
8. 03.03.2018, I left Nigeria for Germany.

LIFE IN GERMANY.
1. After I moved to Germany, I added myself on a waiting list for a language course.
2. June 2018 I started my german course and by dec.2018, I wrote the B1 exams. (by oct 2018, I got a 450 euro job which lasted 3 months)
3. Jan.2019 I started my B2 and by sept. 2019, I wrote C1 exams and passed it.
4. With my C1 result and the my translated university certificate, I got a job in jan. 2020 in the finance sector.

5. March 2021, I applied for German citizenship and by July 2021, I got my german citizenship. Three years after i migrated to germany.

My story might be uncommon, but here is how i achieved it. I researched extensively , as i didnt have any guide. I put the horse before the cart. Learn German as much as possible. The possibility of getting a good job is higher, when you have the german C1 certificate, you can get high paying jobs and your chances of getting german citizenship will higher.

Feel free to ask me any question
Your story is an inspiration

Actually my interview was since January 20th 2021, I book a single appointment thinking that it will cover for me and the kids but Mr paulinus didn't allow my kids to enter inside with me, so I mentioned it in my interview and the embassy ask me to book separate appointment for the kids and send them mail with their reference code, which I did and they were given appointment March 2021, my file was not touch till the kids went to submit their documents which made my visa processing time to start from march instead of January even at that I didn't expect to spend Christmas in Nigeria

Hello everyone, I applied for Family Re-union in December last year, I would like to know if anyone else is within this category and is waiting for an appointment. We can link up.

Also I didn't apply separately for me daughter, would this be a problem? She's 2years
Yes dear it could be a delay, I advise you apply for your daughter now and when embassy give you date to come for your interview then you can write to them with your child reference number informing them that you book for your daughter but she has not been given appointment date and that you will like to come with her.
Note: check the embassy checklist for a child family reunion visa and prepare her documents accordingly .
In my case I didn't know the children need separate appointment and that is bcus I haven't join this thread then and my visa processing time start from March when I went for my children documents submission instead of January when I did my interview. Please act fast so that you don't make the same mistake I made......
