adebayo201:I tried sending a link to the video but spamboat banned me. I think because the link had other Manchester United videos. Too many videos. Tomorrow I will try to get the isolated link of that particular video. |
folba:Yes. At least the knife is back to our hands. |
In January: "I can't see myself at Manchester United," Bale told Spanish radio. "In an interview recently I was asked if I was happy in Madrid and I said that I was very happy here. "I have a long contract still to go, I am enjoying myself and we are winning trophies. I want to continue doing this at Real Madrid." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/11373681/Gareth-Bale-I-cant-see-myself-joining-Manchester-United.html -One more thing. The reason I don't like us to sign Bale. |
If Morrison mistakenly become a world class mifielder tomorrow, we are going to hear questions on why SAF did not bench Carrick for Morrison. Ukwu!!! You guys should enjoy. I want to enjoy my day and other things. |
Real Madrid’s first option to sign Javier Hernandez from Manchester United this summer has now expired. |
PietroRico:It can happen. Remember how unknown Nigerian youth players in the local league became automatic regulars once they got to Europe. Like Celestine Babayaro. I want to believe Juventus unsettled Pogba at United. Juventus and Arsenal were interested in him before United signed him. From all that I have read, I think Juve never gave up on him. They probably pressured his agent and the boy when they saw him performed in the legend testimonial match organised for Scholes retirement. Juventus might also have added the minimum number of matches they would give him in their agreement/contract. Then Pogba tried to bend SAF. Juve could afford to risk a young talent in a less competitive league as compared to SAF who had earlier told the press that Man City would never dominate United in his life time. SAF decided to stick to the boys who did so well in the preseason and his old reliable brigade. A player like Iheanacho could be hired by AC Milan and becomes an instant hit. |
Kemizee:From your link: ...... "When I first retired in the summer of 2011, I spent the start of the next season working with Warren Joyce, the coach of the Under-21s. Paul was in that squad and the truth is that while he obviously had bags of potential, he was not really playing well enough in that period up to Christmas 2011 to warrant a place in the first-team squad on a permanent basis, let alone start games. Nevertheless, he made three Carling Cup appearances before the end of the year and, following that, his Premier League debut before his 19th birthday." - Paul Scholes. ....... "So by the time I came back into the side in January he might well have made up his mind that he was leaving. But I don’t suppose it helped having an old boy come back into the team in front of him. The reality was that he had not played well enough to deserve a regular place before then because, if that had been the case, our manager would undoubtedly have selected him. He had no problem picking a young player once he was convinced the lad in question was ready." "Although I never spoke to Sir Alex about the details, the understanding in the dressing room was that Paul’s advisers just asked for too much money for his next professional deal. They wanted first-team money for a player who was not in the first team at that stage. United felt that was not right and stuck to their principles. He left that summer and very quickly established himself at Juventus, which can happen. You have to give Juventus credit for giving him the opportunity." - Paul Scholes. ".... There was no better manager at developing young players than Sir Alex. He knew just when to bring them in and take them out, and he believed in Paul Pogba. For once, in Paul’s case it did not work out. The timing was wrong and the difference between expectation on the player’s side, and the manager’s idea of his development did not match up. And, yes, perhaps I was a small part of the problem for those five months we were both competing for a place." But at the very least Pogba got a chance at United. He had seven sub appearances for United, about what his performances at the time for the Under-21s merited. For those young lads who find themselves consistently blocked by a steady flow of more experienced players coming in ahead of them, the first team must seem a very distant place indeed". -Paul Scholes. |
Rafael had delivered in midifeld before. The first formation illustration was the second 45 minutes of our 2-0 win over Arsenal in FA Cup March 2011. See Rafael in midfield. The second chart was the first half. SAF is not selfish when he knows someone can do a job. At same time no one dictates to SAF. Obertan, a winger was on the bench in this match but SAF opted for defenders to start as wingers. That's trust. It is earned. Schole and Giggs were on the bench resting ahead of UCL duty against Marseille. Now I log out. ![]()

tess1: You just justified all my comments First, SAF did not promise Pogba starting place. He promised him promotion to the senior team which he redeemed. Second, Pogba did not convince SAF he could be trusted with a starting birth that season, hence the need to tell him to wait for his turn. Third, he tried to keep Pogba but Pogba was recalcitrant. |
tess1:Januzaj performed far more than that at a higher level. He won the league best Reserve Player of the Year 2012–13 and FIFA Youth Cup Golden Ball 2013: Pogba was not the best player in the reserve even when he was already promoted to the senior team. tess1:SAF said in 2011 summer that he would promote him to the senior squad from the academy (so to say). And SAF did it. Getting to the senior team doesnt guarantee a starting shirt. tess1:This was only one match and SAF used his desecration to play experience players considering we were already weak in the defence were Carrick slotted in for the injured defenders. Park, Fabio and Rafael had played in our midfield before. When Anderson and Cleverley were injured, we had Carrick and Fletcher who continued the journey well. Fletcher was arguably our best midfielder in 2010/11 and he was still very good in 2011/12 until he fell sick. tess1:They were not all injured. Carrick and Fletcher took over from Anderson and Cleverley. Even Anderson and Cleverley did not injure same time. See Fletcher matches below. These matches were between September 2nd and November 16th. Benfica 1 - 1Man Utd Man Utd 3 - 1 Chelsea Stoke 1 - 1 Man Utd Man Utd 2 - 0 Norwich Liverpool 1 - 1 Man Utd Man Utd 1 - 6 Man City Everton 0 - 1 Man Utd Man Utd 1 - 0 Sunderland Swansea 0 - 1 Man Utd tess1:You dont pay attention to details. Anderson and Cleverley got injured and Fletcher and Carrick took over. At this time, Giggs was being warmed up with games in Carling cup while JS Park and Gibson were also ready. In Januray, Scholes returned. If you are talking about main midfielders, then they were Carrick, Giggs and Scholes considering the minutes they played. In our last game in November, Giggs and Carrick paired while Gibson and JS Park were on the bench. In our win away at Villa, Jones and Carrick were in midfield while Giggs, Park and Fletcher were on the bench. In our 4-1 home win to Wolves, Jones and Carrick were in midfield while Giggs, Gibson, JS Park were on the bench. In our 2-0 win at QPR Jones and Carrick were in midfield while Giggs and Park were on the bench. In our 5-0 win at Fulham Giggs and Carrick played while JS Park was on the bench. Now Rafael returned from injury to be on the bench. In our 5-0 win over Wigan, Giggs, Gibson, JS Park all played. Carrick was in defence. Then in January Scholes returned. tess1:SAF also allowed Morrison to go. These are normal decisions and SAF was right about it at the time. Pogba was not ready. Let Juve enjor him, there were clubs that enjoyed players like Deco, Torres, Schechevco, etc and they flop elsewhere. What's the guarantee Pogba will flourish in Man United? |
"I understand that people were surprised that I refused to extend my contract with Manchester United," Pogba told L'Equipe. "But Manchester United and Juventus are the same - they are two great clubs. "There were things which we [Pogba and Manchester United] did not agree on but I don’t regret anything. I learned a lot there. "The coach [Ferguson] trusted me, but he didn't play me, he said I was too young. He told me 'Your time will come', but it didn’t come. Despite the fact that he is the boss, my goal was to play. "He said I disrespected him. I do not know why he said that. A 19-year-old who says no [to him], maybe he was stuck. But for me, it will not change anything. This is not to say that I will speak ill of Manchester. I love this club. - Pogba. |
3 July 2012 "Pogba signed for Juventus a long time ago as far as we're aware." United had presented improved terms - and a promise of improved first-team opportunities - to Pogba, but he was not swayed. The news left Ferguson, who had nevertheless been expecting the decision, fuming. "(It) is disappointing. I don't think he showed us any respect at all so, to be honest," he said. "I'm quite happy that if they carry on that way, they're probably better doing it away from us." http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-paul-pogba-disrespected-1131503 |
How to know when a player is ready. The competitors around just give up. The coach is happy to throw you into games. .......................................................... Gary Neville gives approval to successor Rafael Wednesday 09 February 2011 Gary Neville is convinced his coveted right-back role at Manchester United is in safe hands. Neville announced his retirement from the game last week after finally admitting defeat in his battle with injury. The 35-year-old has struggled for a number of seasons and his last two performances - which could have brought dismissal against both Stoke and West Brom - left him certain it was time to walk away. Neville's decision was made easier by the knowledge young full-back Rafael now has the capability to hold down the job. At this stage last year, it was impossible to comprehend of such a notion. But Neville feels the 20-year-old has made excellent progress this term and is confident United can now look ahead positively, knowing the position is tied down for many years to come. "You can now say we've got a first-choice back-four for the first time in a few years," Neville told www.manutd.com. "Rafael's always had ability. He gets to the ball quickly, he is aggressive, he defends his position well, he is tough, courageous, good on the ball, he gets forward well and provides energy in attack. "But he has really developed in the last six months with games and experience. "He has also got a great attitude. He is more than capable of going on to become United's right-back for many years." It takes Neville back to when he was a younger member of the United squad, making his own way forward in a dressing room containing the likes of Roy Keane, Peter Schmeichel and Eric Cantona. "I remember when I was young defender you need that time to mature and get experience," he said. "We haven't had a consistent right-back in the last couple of years. I have been around. Wes Brown and John O'Shea have played some games as well as Rafael, but in the last four or five months we've had a consistent performer in that position." Rafael is expected to keep his place for Saturday's eagerly-anticipated duel with Manchester City when, for once, Ferguson will not be sweating on the return of so many international stars. Edwin van der Sar, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Michael Carrick, Patrice Evra, Dimitar Berbatov and Park Ji-sung offer a pretty solid backbone, in addition to Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans, one of whom will partner Nemanja Vidic in central defence. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/gary-neville-gives-approval-to-successor-rafael-2209052.html |
We must not also forget that Fletcher was on the verge of becoming a world class midfielder in 2011. |
tess1:Provide evidence. tess1:SAF said he was going to be promoted that season. Then SAF actually promoted him. Then SAF tested him with some matches and he wasn't convinced he was ready to take the risk of starting him. tess1:Anderson and Cleverley were in our midfield in the preseason when we beat Barca. We started the season with these two guys and they were part of the team which gave us the best start to a season as far as my memory can remember. Then Carrick and Fletcher took over before Giggs joined. The team that beat Barca: De Gea; Rafael (Fabio, 17), Vidic, (Jones, 76) Evans, Evra (Smalling, ht); Nani, Cleverley, Anderson (Giggs, ht), Young (Obertan, 62); Rooney (Owen, ht), Welbeck (Diouf, 77). Subs not used: Lindegaard, Amos, Ferdinand, Carrick, Park, Berbatov, Macheda. tess1:You must have forgotten what was at stake at the time to be promoting a rookie with the benefit of hindsight. Pogba had his chance but he didnt convince the manager that he was ready. That was my judgement too. tess1:Park, Fabio and Rafael had won us matches before, playing out of position. They even beat Arsenal. SAF played tested players. |
Kemizee:SAF wanted to keep Pogba. SAF said this himself. He said Pogba was promoted to the senior team because he didn’t want to lose him. When Pogba left, SAF said Pogba had joined Juventus way back as far as they were aware. Kemizee:Was that why he was trying to bend SAF’s hand? SAF said Pogba disrespected the club and you and I knew SAF wouldn’t take such from even Cantona, Kean, Beckham etc not to talk of one who just coming up. SAF said he preferred such people took their attititude elsewhere. Kemizee:Your memory must have failed you who Anderson and Cleverley were to us in 2011/2012. You are obviously carried away by what Pogba is today and not who he was in 2011/2012 visavis the quality of Anderson, Cleverley, Carrick, Fletcher, Giggs and Scholes. No midfielders in EPL and most of Europe would have benched Anderson and Cleverley combo of 2011/2012. They destroyed everything on their way until Injuries broke the pairing, then Carrick and Fletcher took over. Kemizee:When Scholes returned from retirement he instantly again became the best midfielder in the EPL in that 5 months period. He took us back to title contenders and if SAF didn’t leave him out in the trip to Wigan we could have won the league. Kemizee:Rafael sent Neville to his early retirement. Neville himself said considering the way Rafael was playing, he needed to quit. Rafael proved himself beyond reasonable doubt from that first match in an away UCL fixture. Pogba did not grab his own opportunity. Kemizee:I am one of those who felt SAF needed to have boosted our midfield, but I didn’t feel Pogba was the one who would immediately fill the void. I was looking at Sneidjer and Modric. Kemizee:Pogba may be playing well now, but in 2011/12 he was not ready to go into starting line up for Man United. He was not even so highly rated in his first season at Juventus because I saw three other midfielders who had higher playing time than Pogba. Juventus can afford to give some up coming players more playing time because the league is less competitive. As for comparison with our current midfielders, there is no basis for that. Pogba did not leave United this season. You are obviously carried away by what he is playing now. Someone like Wilson might leave United and become the new Alan Shearer in another club, may be by the time Chicharito will be scoring 10 goals per season, then someone would come with tales how Gaal made United lose Wilson. They will bring figures about his goals in his debut for us, etc. |
Kemizee and Tess1, can you people beat you chest that you called for Pogba to be started in games ahead of Scholes, Carrick, Giggs, Cleverley and Anderson in our title chase of 2011/2012? If you wrote such anywhere, provide the evidence or forever remain silent. ![]() I think I had to quit this now. |
Kemizee:* Players will always be linked with clubs. Song was linked with Barca even though they had Busquet, Xavi, Thiago and Iniester. Same with Fabregas. Even when we had Morrison, Pogba, Gibson and Cleverley coming up, we were still being linked with Modric and Sneidjer. * Fellaini came to Man United in 2013/2014. We are talking about an issue of 2011/2012. * You have to know that it's not only in Man United players got dissatisfied and left due to senior players having priority. Matic (2009-2011) left Chelsea when Ballack, Lampard, Mikel Obi, Ramires, were preferred. Thiago left because he felt he should be favoured over Xavi, Busquet, Iniester and Fabregas. NOTE: Matic left Chelsea when he was 24. Thiago left Barca when he was 22. Pogba left Man United when he was 19. Pogba was just impatient. He played only 1741 in his first season at Juventus. I am sure he would have played more at United considering the number of games Jones had in our midfield in 2012/2013. Rooney even had to play in the midfield. SAF even encouraged Pogba by telling him that his time would come. Considering the talent that were available in the three teams mentioned above, the coaches didnt make any mistakes in not playing Matic, Thiago and Pogba. Thiago even started 15 matches for Barca with further 12 substitute roles yet he accused Barca of neglecting and disregarding him. A player that will go will go. There are people who can't ever be satisfied. See this: When Matic was 22 years, he had just 2 substitute appearances for Chelsea. At 23 he was loaned out. |
Kemizee:Our midfield was far superior to Juventus midfield at the time. It was a midfield that played 3 UCL finals in 4 years beating AC Milan and Inter Milan which were far superior to Juventus in that period. The midfield that had won the EPL 4 times in 5years. Secondly when did Pogba ask for abit more playing time? Give link and date to analyze the fixtures at the time. The Pogba I watched in my City room large screen TV was not ready. No be view Centre stretch neck. At the time HITV and DSTV shared fixtures I subscribed for both just to see all United matches. This not what I read about Pogba, his game was amateur compared to what others served. |
tess1:SAF did the right thing. SAF was trying to win the carling cup again after many years of failure. Cleverley did not even get this rapid promotion while coming up. |
Dadehmola:Let's not just go back. |
Dadehmola:When I newly come this thread, na me and you first talk about interceptions and tackle before any one else. You remember our Carrick and Hargreaves argument? But let's leave. |
Now, let's even examine all Pogba's 7 games in the season he complained and left. What influence did he even have in the games? Paul Pogba games in 2011/2012 1. CARLING CUP Tuesday 20 Sept 2011 Leeds 0 - 3 Man Utd........ He came on at 46 mins for Giggs when score was already 3-0. 2. CARLING CUP Tuesday 25 Oct 2011 Aldershot 0 - 3 Man Utd........ He came on at 60th minute for Cleverly when score was already at 3-0. Cleverly and Park played in midfield. Morrison came on for Diouf at 70th minute. 3. CARLING CUP Wednesday 30 Nov 2011 Man Utd 1 - 2 C Palace........ Pogba came on for Rafael at 76 minutes when score was 0-0. A minute later Palace scored us. He was the last substitute. Morrison came on for Berbatov at 46 minutes. 4. ENGLISH PREMIER Tuesday 31 Jan 2012 Man Utd 2 - 0 Stoke ...... Pogba came on for Hernadez at 73 minutes when score was 2-0. He was the only substitute in. Fabio, Radael, Giggs, Welbeck were on the bench. 5. ENGLISH PREMIER Sunday 11 Mar 2012 Man Utd 2 - 0 West Brom..... He came on for Scholes at 73 minutes when score was at already 2-0. Rafael, Giggs, Park and Berbatov were all unused substitutes. 6. EUROPA LEAGUE Thursday 15 Mar 2012 Ath Bilbao 2 - 1 Man Utd....... He went in for Carrick t 63 minutes when United trailed by 0-1. Scholes, Chicha and Fabio were unused substitutes. 7. ENGLISH PREMIER Sunday 18 Mar 2012 RESULT Wolves 0 -5 Man.......... Pogba came on for Carrrick at 57 minutes when score stood at 4-0. Young, Park and Giggs were unused substitutes. Any one who after reviewing the above info and still criticize SAF is an Ekwe Sample. Pogba knew for sure SAF was bringing him gradually into the first team even when he was not productive at the time. We should not forget also that 2011/2012 was a very hard two horse race where the best players needed to feature. I reviewed all our matches after the 5-0 win over Wolves, the substitutions and the circumstances. I beg Pogba didnt stand any chance with the quality and calibre of players who needed to be introduced to try and win matches. The very next match Scholes, Cleverley, Berbatov and Hernadez were on the bench in our 1-0 win over Fulham. Giggs and Carrick played the match. |
Kemizee:It's also your opinion when you say Rafael is better than Valencia. And for every point you think Val made a wrong decision, I can bring a hundred right decisions he has made. When Herrer and Mata didnt play, at least there were cries every where that they should be given a chance. I am yet to read where anyone has called for Rafael over Valencia. Even among my friends who are not United fans, they speak of their respect for Val. Even, at the time Mata was benched, he wasn't doing well. I am one of those who still think these guys (Carrick, Herrera, Mata and Fellaini) freshness is one of the advantages over other players. Next season help me reach a conclusion when everyone had to start afresh. The Pogba stuff is a whole big issue I dont want to go into. SAF didnt make any mistake there. Pogba was not ready at the time and SAF had won matches with Fabio, Rafael, JS Park in midfield before. I saw Pogba in matches and his decision making was poor, although the potential and skills every evident. It's easy to say these things from hindsight today because Pogba is successful. There were dozen others who didn't get into the first team despite their promising start, but because they are not succesful, people dont talk about them anymore. At the beginning of last season, many felt SAF was foolish to have allowed Morrison to leave. It went on for a long spell. Now I dont hear about Morrison on this thread. Rafael did well for us against QPR, he switched off against Leicester then did well again. But when we played a high defence against West Brom, he was caught out of position twice. DDG had to rescue one of them in which the blame would have been directly his fault. |
Luis Nani has said he will return to the club this summer. Although he wouldn’t rule out extending his stay at Sporting, the 28-year-old says he will report back to Old Trafford this summer and insists he now has the confidence to compete at the highest level once again. He told Portuguese newspaper O Jogo: “I am a Manchester United player and I must return. I can never say it’s impossible to continue at Sporting. “I believe I am now more confident to compete for a place in whatever team is. I am able to play in a more competitive league. But nothing is concrete yet.” [Source: O Jogo] ............................. Hope he wont lose confidence when he sees competiton from Young and Di Maria. One thing I know is that Nani hates to compete. He likes being the only one, taking risks, free to make mistakes in the process without any threat of going to the bench. |
ElFenomeno1:He is telling lies. |
SailorXY:Rooney will go to striking position. He is playing in midfield because since he started playing there, DDG bhas stopped being our match saviour/hero. When we buy someone who can do the job in the middle of the park, Rooney pushes forward. Rooney and Gaal know this. Herrera lacks positional discipline and he is a risk for now. |
elampiro2:Classy men. One can see that everyone who has been on this striking list since 2011 earns £300/week. Class of football intelligentsias. |
David Villa Rooney Falcao Ibrahimovic The best strikers in the last 5 years. Not opportunists hyenas who score cheap goals. Intelligent men. |
coogar:Give Link. Na only u go read am? |
Ruudie, don't you think Van Persie should have been sold in January? He is the only striker given opportunity 100% but he has been a colossal failure. Harry Kane has 10 goals and 2 assists in just 1251 minutes in the EPL. 5 goals in 372 minutes in the Europa cup. 3 goals in Carling cup. Van Persie is a huge liability. |

Scholes and Giggs had reached their end.We needed to replace dem and dt was one of my greatest gripes wid Fergie.
