Car Talk / My Experience At Carmedis Auto Repair by Elbizzcklinz(m): 9:18am On Mar 23
Yesterday, as I was leaving work in Ikoyi, my Toyota Highlander decided to play stubborn and refused to start after I parked to grab some snacks. With frustration building up and no help in sight, I reached out to all the contacts I knew, but none could offer a solution.

Feeling stranded, I turned to Google for assistance, and that's when Carmedis came to my rescue. Intrigued by their website and social media presence, I decided to give them a shot. To my surprise, they had a user-friendly app, which I quickly downloaded and made a request through.

In what felt like a stroke of luck, everything worked seamlessly in real-time. Within minutes, I was connected to the nearest workshop, and it felt like magic. In less than 30 minutes, a technician arrived, performed some scans, and managed to get my car started again. However, they recommended that I come in for servicing, which I gladly agreed to.

I couldn't help but marvel at the efficiency and professionalism of the Carmedis team. Their swift response and expertise turned what could have been a major inconvenience into a manageable situation. It's incredible what these guys at Carmedis are doing, and they definitely have a new loyal customer in me.

Autos / A Real-time Access To Autoshop And Mechanics In Lagos Nigeria by Elbizzcklinz(m): 10:11pm On Nov 19, 2023
We hear it all the time: “Where can I find a good car mechanic?” In the past, word of mouth was probably the best way to find an auto repair shop that would do the job right and charge a fair price. But now, a good mechanic might be only a few mouse clicks or touchscreen taps away on Carmedis.

The automotive industry is experiencing a paradigm shift with the introduction of the Carmedis Auto repair app. These innovative digital platforms have disrupted the traditional model of automotive service delivery, offering customers unprecedented convenience and efficiency.

Carmedis bridges the gap between vehicle owners and skilled and vetted auto shops/mechanics, transforming the way automotive repairs and maintenance are sought and executed. This transformative technology enables users to effortlessly connect with the nearest vetted mechanics in real-time, with access to schedule appointments, and track the progress of their service requests in real-time to invoicing, payment and pickup.

Moreover, the benefits Carmedis provides extend beyond customers, as the Carmedis Autoshop apps for Autoshops and professional mechanics provide Autoshop and mechanics with steady work opportunities and the flexibility to operate independently and anywhere. With the remarkable growth and profitability potential of the Carmedis app, businesses operating in the automotive sector are keen to capitalize on this trend.

How Does Carmedis App Work?

Carmedis works by providing a user-friendly platform that connects car owners, and fleet managers to the nearest vetted and professional mechanics for their automotive repair and maintenance needs in real-time. The remarkable features give Carmedis an edge over competitors.

The process is automated and works in real-time. Every car owner is assigned a special workshop manager to ensure that he enjoys hassle-free repair and maintenance.

1. Registration and Login

Users begin by downloading the app from the Google Play store / IOS store and creating an account. They provide the necessary details such as name, contact information, and sometimes vehicle information.

2. Vehicle upload

Users provide relevant information about their vehicle, such as make, model, and any specific issues or requirements.

3. Service Request

Once logged in, users can request services by connecting with a mechanic or auto shop within a 10 km radius. These services may include routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and more.

4. Realtime Connection and Matching

Carmedis matches the user’s service request with available mechanics who meet the requirements and are located in the car owners vicinity.

5. Confirmation and Tracking

Once a mechanic accepts the service request, the user receives a confirmation along with details about the assigned mechanic with a feature to chat with the mechanic or assigned service manager.

Nice tips though I was expecting to see the following;

1. Ensure your injector is not blocked by carbon deposit

2. Ensure your o2 sensors and MAF sensors are ok.

3. Ensure your vehicle is not misfiring by having faulty top cylinder valves.

4. Ensure the fuel nozzles are serviced.

5. Ensure the ECU is fine.

If any of the above mentioned is faulty, it can result to excessive fuel consumption.

Yeah you're right. This is part of regular maintenence that can be done by Carmedis

Car Talk / Moman Shares 12 Ways To Reduce Your Fuel Consumption By At Least 30% by Elbizzcklinz(m): 9:49am On Jun 25, 2023
The Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) has recently shared valuable insights on how Nigerians can reduce their fuel consumption by at least 30%.

In a social media post on June 23, MOMAN provided 12 practical ways for people to lower their fuel consumption rates.

This advice comes in the wake of the fuel price hike in the country, with prices surpassing N500 in certain locations due to the removal of fuel subsidies.

MOMAN explains that the deregulation of petroleum products in Nigeria has led to increased costs of PMS (Premium Motor Spirit), making it crucial for Nigerians to be aware of fuel-saving tips that can help them save money on their fuel purchases.

We decided to share some of the tips for our readers.

Maintain correct tire pressure: Ensure that your vehicle’s tires are properly inflated according to the recommended specifications. Underinflated tires increase rolling resistance, causing more friction and requiring more fuel to overcome. A decrease of 10 psi in tire pressure can reduce fuel efficiency by up to 10%.

Minimize load in the trunk: Except for the emergency spare tire, carry only essential items in your car’s trunk. Every additional 50kg of weight increases fuel consumption by 2%.

Drive efficiently: If you drive an automatic car, use cruise control to maintain a steady speed. For manual cars, shift to higher gears when appropriate. Avoid rapid acceleration from a complete stop or when climbing hills, as this significantly increases fuel consumption.

Instead of abruptly stopping or accelerating, anticipate traffic flow and adjust your speed gradually. Slow down gradually when approaching a red light or descending a hill.

Harsh braking and sudden acceleration lead to increased fuel consumption. Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead to allow for smooth deceleration and minimize the need for sudden braking.

Plan your route and use technology: Choose routes that minimize stop-and-go traffic, as constant acceleration and braking consume more fuel. Whenever possible, plan your trips during off-peak hours to avoid traffic congestion. Utilize navigation apps like Google Maps to find the most efficient routes.

Avoid idling: If you anticipate being stationary for more than three minutes, turn off your engine. Idling consumes fuel unnecessarily, even when the vehicle is not in motion.

Maintain optimal speed: When driving on the highway, excessive speed increases wind resistance and fuel consumption. Driving at 100km/h burns about 15% more fuel compared to a speed of 90km/h.

However, driving below 50km/h may require the car to operate in a lower gear, leading to increased fuel consumption. The most fuel-efficient range is typically between 50km/h and 90km/h on the highway.

Ensure the fuel cap is tightened: Make sure the fuel tank cap is properly secured to prevent fuel vapor evaporation, which can result in fuel loss.

Regular vehicle maintenance: Regular servicing of your car helps maintain optimal engine fuel efficiency. Using the correct lubricants prevents sludge formation and corrosion, ensuring smooth movement of engine parts, reducing friction, and maximizing engine power. This contributes to improved fuel efficiency.

Carpooling: Whenever possible, consider carpooling with trusted individuals. Sharing rides with others going in the same direction can significantly reduce fuel consumption and vehicle emissions. Coordinate with friends, family, or colleagues to share the commute and take turns driving.

Avoid being on the road: Instead of using your car for every task, explore other means of communication. Consider making phone calls, video conferences, or utilizing messaging apps for meetings or social engagements that do not require physical presence.

By reducing unnecessary trips, you can save fuel and minimize your carbon footprint. Every day you telecommute reduces the amount of fuel you use by 20%.

Track and measure fuel consumption: Keep a record of your fuel consumption to monitor and identify patterns or changes in efficiency. This can be done by noting the odometer reading and the amount of fuel added during each refill.

By tracking your fuel consumption, you can identify any unusual variations and take appropriate measures to address them, such as adjusting driving habits or seeking vehicle maintenance if necessary.

Additionally, monitoring your fuel consumption over time can help you assess the effectiveness of your fuel-saving strategies and adjust as needed.

Switch to LPG: If you currently rely on petrol generators to power your homes, MOMAN strongly recommends considering alternative options such as solar power or converting your generators to operate on Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) or Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

It is important to ensure that your generator conversion is done by a qualified technician.

They will have the necessary expertise to safely and effectively carry out the conversion process, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Good morning mature men and women in the house. Please I need your help on this topic.

My Fiancee told me about how her biological dad abandoned her and her mum after getting her mum pregnant.

Her mum later married another man who adopted her as his child.

Now she's grown and I've proposed to her, I wanted to go for her official introduction and list collection.

Would it not be nice to hear the biological father's opinion? Should I just ignore the fact that the man is still alive and proceed with the marriage arrangement?

Although she said I should not bother about that, but this is Nigeria and as an Akwa Ibomite I don't think it's proper. Although she's against me trying to find out about the man's opinion. Should I care?

What can you say about this?

Note: she only told me that the man abandoned them, but what if it was her mum that actually took her away?

You have to care. My wife dad didn't pay her mother's bride price, death later took him and she married another man

As culture demand, she is still his child, we had to go to the late husband family to pay my wife's bride price.

We didn't neglect the step father, we still recognised him cos he trained her. We gave him the fathers money even if we paid the late dad family.

We just have to get it done.

So you have to do the right thing so that it doesn't affect your children.

I enjoin all forum members to actively contribute
my budget is 4.5M
the choices I am looking at are these :

1. Toyota Rav 4, (2011) Nigerian used. A friend is actually convinced this is the car I should buy as it fits nicely in terms of prestige and functionality. However, I'm not fully convinced as per buying a Nigerian used car and also because I'm not really taken to the RAV4 as I see it as not a masculine car.

2. Toyota Camry 2011 or 2012 (muscle) : I like this car and if it falls within my budget I'd happily buy it. The only negative here is I've been wanting an SUV to be my first car considering Lagos roads etc so I'm not totally sold on the idea of getting this car.

3. Toyota Highlander full option (2007) Direct Belgium or Nigerian used: Now this is the car I I'm most taken to. However, Friends are of the opinion that it is an old car (being 2007) and is gradually being phased out. Also the fact the car does not exactly convey much in terms of prestige etc.

So that's it. I'd appreciate if forum members advice correctly on any of these three car models or recommend something else. Kindly highlight the merits/demerits of buying the foreign used or Nigerian used version of any car you'd recommend.

The attributes I'm looking out for are Functionality, ease of Maintenance, prestige/aesthetics of the car.

I appreciate you all.

And coming back by 10pm after closing by 5pm due to traffic.

Your health would be impacted.
Also your transportation will be impacted

From Egbeda to Ikeja - 200
From Ikeja to Ikoyi - you will not get a direct cab. Expect private vehicles that offers lift at for a fare. Let's say 500 to Ikoyi.

Then you would trek from Falomo to your office because there's no Bike.

Take the work at Ikeja. Highest transport fare would be 200. YOU WOULD DEFINITELY SAVE
