What kind of report is this. Something that happened years ago is been reported like it happened today.

Anyway 15 and 22years I don't see anything wrong here.
It's called Statutory Rape.
In case you are still confused, switch the genders and check again if you see nothing wrong.

PoliticsRe: David Hundeyin Blasts Legacy Media For Inventing The "Igbo Coup" Hoax by elfico(m): 10:54am On Feb 22, 2025
happney65:
A friend who is currently reading the book told me he is on page 64 where Babaginda said things about the coup and that the coup isnt an igbo coup as widely believed.

I was surprised this is coming from Babaginda. But I am not surprised about the facts because I know the facts.

I have read first hand facts about the coup by one of the major plotters Adewale Ademoyega in "Why we struck". He said "At no time in our meetings.did we.decide to single out any ethnic group,we were honourable and all we did was for love of country"

Nzeogwu
Adewale Ademoyega
Emmanuel Ifeajuna

Those 3 were the ring leaders who later brought in others to join the revolution.

But we are in an era of people not wanting to believe the truth or the facts but only wanting to believe whatever they choose to believe

To them 2 plus 2 is 22 and not 4. So with people like that who live in a world of alternative facts and realities,It is a very unfortunte scenario.
If God forbid the same happened today, the same conclusions will be drawn. The optics were very bad for the Ibo people.

Why?

The killing patterns – only Arthur Unegbe of the 22 casualties is of Igbo origin, while notable Igbo politicians like the Premier of Eastern region, the senate president Nwafor Orizu(which was convicted for corruption years before) and high ranking military personnel like Aguiyi Ironsi were unharmed.

The handing over of the government to Ironsi by Nwafor Orizu (the acting president and the senate president who could have called for the formation of another civilian government) made it look like it was planned out all along.[21]

The unification decree of May 1966 promulgated by Ironsi, leading to the abolition of regional power and the unification of the regional civil service into a federal civil service [22] – Historically speaking, the West and North have always believed in the regional system of government as the best form of government for a multi-ethnic country like Nigeria, however this was taken away by Ironsi, leading to a massive outrage and pogrom in the North in May 1966. This happened a few months before the counter coup by Northern soldiers, which lead to the death of Ironsi, Fajuyi and many officers of Igbo origin.

The coup plotters, though kept in jail, were never court-martialled and punished according to military procedure. On other occasions unsuccessful bloody coups meant death of the coup plotters, we can see the example in the coup attempts under Obasanjo(where Diya and other mutineers were killed by firing squad) and Babangida( where he had to kill Mamman Vatsa, his old time friend)

While the whole mess may have been a product of incompetence, miscalculations, and sheer ignorance, it looks like one big conspiracy especially if you are of Northern origin.

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.
PoliticsRe: Ethnic Bigots Are Upset That IBB Debunked The Igbo Coup Narrative - Rufai Oseni by elfico(m): 10:35am On Feb 22, 2025
Touchy subject.

Only those who get all their news from social media believed social media.

From what I have read, Northerners then believed it was an ethnic coup.
And if you want to blame them, take a look at the facts.

Top Northern politicians were killed and their killing was bragged about on national TV by an office of Igbo descent.

The Igbo president was not in the country.

Excerpt from Wikipedia:

"The killing patterns – only Arthur Unegbe of the 22 casualties is of Igbo origin, while notable Igbo politicians like the Premier of Eastern region, the senate president Nwafor Orizu(which was convicted for corruption years before) and high ranking military personnel like Aguiyi Ironsi were unharmed"

Following which Aguiyi Ironsi, an Igbo man became Military head of state.

And he went ahead to sign the Unitary decree which took power from the regions.
And also failed to execute any of the coup plotters.

This was 1966 when news traveled slower and we had lower education and literacy rates.

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.

If God forbid, a similar thing happened today, people will still draw the same conclusion.

I hope we can all heal and move past these or go our separate ways if that will remove the distrust and suspicions because it's becoming sickening at this point.

Most people spew hate online and have friends from the same ethnic group they hate so much.

Yes EFCC is most times unprofessional

Especially with Magu who seemed particularly dull.

But people saying they are restricted to day time operations are saying nonsense.

Go to the US and tell FBI they can't access your premises because it is 12 midnight.
FBI will get a warrant before tossing your house especially if you are not an immediate threat to anyone.

Hard to take the OP (A known Zionist paid Hasbara troll) seriously again. They have consistently tried to manufacture consent for genocide here on Nairaland so we know their disinformation agenda.

May the perpetrators be caught and dealt with. All terrorists in whatever nation either as non-state (ISIS) or state (IDF) actors must be condemned.

many medical staffs and UN workers have been proven to be Hamas members or collaborators which you're aware of you know Israel will not spare any location or person working with Hamas so any lover of Palestine should not allow innocent people to become target when you allow attack to be carried out against Israel from a civilian population you're sacrificing them cause you know the price to pay
Except Hamas is a Political party and in charge of govt. Totally different from the the Qassam brigade which it the military wing.
It's like saying all member of PDP or APC are guilty of the crimes committed by IPOB.
See the difference??

The organisers are to partly to blame. Did they not hear about the Oyo one a few days ago?
We are also impatient as a people. The effect of wanting to jump line in small crowd is fatal in large crowds.
The govt is wholly to blame here. This is an annual programme and we didn't hear of fatalities before, so govt policies that are making Nigerians poorer are wholly to blame.
May the souls of all departed rest in peace.

It's why they never feel the pain of the masses.
Enacting policies that will cause pain because as he said, it don't affect them.
What a very callous mindset to have for the people you are administering.
In other countries, the leaders see the issues, they hear and listen to the complaints of the citizens, and they talk to the people, and with the people to offer solution, reassurances and empathy.
But nah, every politician in Nigerian wants to form Idi Amin.
PoliticsRe: In Support Of The Tax Reform Bills - Punch Editorial by elfico(m): 7:26am On Dec 04, 2024
Macphenson:
One of the most controversial issues in this Tax Reform Bill is that 60% of VAT to be shared by states will be given to the state it was collected from, It seems by this it will only favour mostly Lagos and Rivers State to the detriment of the Northern states who are collecting more VAT based on population.

Here is my concern, Lagos state was deliberately made the commercial headquaters of the Nation to the detriment of other states the more reason it collects more taxes.

Practically, All the cars entering the country pays their tax to only Lagos state. Even the cars to be used in Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta and Cross River states. Now this is not fair to these states as they have their own seaports but cars are not entering them, the taxes they are supposed to get as a state goes to Lagos state.

Also, Telecom companies pay their VAT in Lagos because their headquaters are located in Lagos, If this new bill is passed, that is no longer fair to all other states where the Telcom companies operate. Telcom companies should now start paying VAT to each state they operate as you can no longer rob Peter to pay Paul.

Oil companies have their headquaters located in Lagos while they operate in different states especially in the Niger Delta. This will no longer be fair if the bill is passed becaused those states where the oil companies operate will start demanding that the oil companies pay thier VAT in those states they operate.

The truth is this bill if passed, is seriously going to open litany of issues which I dont think at the moment the bill captured or resolved it.

Another worrisome dimension, this may prompt the oil producing states to start demanding for 60% of the oil revenues from their respective states, once this happens, chaos will reign supreme in the country.
Under the previous model, the state where companies have their headquarters will be the one to collect the tax. In this new one, the state where the product is consumed will collect it. Don't see how it benefits Lagos that much.
