Fastest way to integrate is speak the language, assimilate, adopt the culture and marry into the royal family. Slaves in African culture grew to prominence why not a stranger? It could also be that they had the belief through divination that a savior was to come and save them. Another possibility could be that he was a Yoruba man known to them but from another town. There is no evidence that Oduduwa was much different from the natives. If he was, they would have pointed it out. Yoruba oral history is quite descriptive. They will tag you with something to describe your total strangeness. Could be tribal marking or different language.
Quite true. @Olu317 said something about his fight with Obatala. I hope he gives more details

Queen Sheba was Ethiopian and Yemeni, a Christian . Bilikisu Sungbo is or was a Yoruba woman. I even doubt her name was Bilikisu as I don't believe Islam was in Yoruba land then. I think that part of history may have been forged.
Bilikis is an Arabic name for Queen of Sheba. so, it's either the name is a forgery or she actually was the Queen of Sheba which isn't likely considering that Queen Sheba existed long before Sungbo

I tot you are Yoruba na

Alright let me try.

The past is shrouded in mystery, all we are left with of the pre-historic era are words built around heroes of the culture, some classic artifacts and certain puzzling patterns that if harnessed may help our understanding of Yoruba history for instant.

Such patterns exist in fixed oral text, place names and genealogical traditions kept in Yoruba families. The elements of Yoruba history is linked to Yoruba family pedigree. We need to harness such and sift history from it, rather than invent history.

Yoruba spoken word is very potent, many secrets are concealed in Yoruba spoken words thann you have in the heart of men. Yorubaland for instance is not Yorubaland from inception, but 'ile Aye' or 'home of the matriarch' so who was the matriarch?

The saying 'aye loja orun nile" implies that Yoruba migrants came to do business in Yorubaland and look to a time they will trace their origin back to their wellsource. I understand the same phrase has different connotation here and now, that's religious muddling up tradition.

Now, the Oja is establishing colonies in this part of Africa by 'awon omo ara Ye' (kindred of the matriarch). The head of each colony is Oloja, as in one who discover a habitable colony. The search parties involved were the Owas and their activity is imule, possessing the land.

These people came through the sea, hence some of the earliest Yoruba enclaves can be found at the sea, inclusive of Lagos Island, which is the earliest Yoruba harbour as old as ile-ife. At least Oduduwa was not the foundind father of Yoruba population but Yoruba-empire.

So. Where did the inhabitants of Yoruba before the meccan-ife oduduwa came from? Did the arrival of Oduduwa translate to sudden appearance of the Yoruba from nowhere? My joker is, the tradition usually drawn to support Oduduwa coming from the sky was a stretch from odu iwori, which rhymes with Awori.

The Owa are the same as Awo (sightseers, seers) and that's where Orunmila and Ifa made history as pioneers and founding fathers who brought the viceroy, the true Oduduwa, the matriarch to Yorubaland. Her retinue own many place in ancient Yoruba, ile-ife was her possession too. Hence she was the first Ooni Ife.

This is my story.
I think the story that Oduduwa descended from the sky is generally accepted to be a myth.
It's been long held that Oduduwa came to Ife from the East, with many sources claiming Mecca. And that he met natives in Ife when he arrived. How he was able to reign over them and consolidate his rule is still not clear to me.
I find your story and analysis interesting. Please what are your sources?
I agree that oral traditions were skewed towards a religious point of view, but we cannot throw them away completely.
If you can write more, it would be a pleasure to read.

With due respect to the Yoruba's, I did my service year in one of the south west state. What baffles me is that, they even use their dialect to teach English language in classes and they expect better results from the students, which is totally uncalled for. The rate of failure was alarming just because students couldn't express themselves when writing exams.
Its not an issue particular to one region. I served in Anambra and noticed the same thing too. And it happens in the North too. I think something should be done to address such issues.

A driver using "one way" on road that is always free even during rush hours? And this happened at night when there are less vehicles? Something isnt adding up. There is a pedestrian bridge there and its just about 1min walk from the main gate. And there is a barrier on the road divider to stop students crossing. You cant really blame the poor girl cos she must have panicked.

One day the Messenger of Allah (saws) noticed a bedouin (desert Arab) leaving his camel without tying it and he asked the bedouin: "Why don't you tie down your camel?" The bedouin answered, "I put my trust in Allah." The Prophet (saws) then said, "Tie your camel first, then put your trust in Allah"

Asides protesting, they should send the girls details to all schools in Benin and Nigeria as a whole to make sure that she is not admitted to ANY SCHOOL in Nigeria. Intact, her details should also be forwarded to WAEC, NECO, JAMB, NABTEB e.t.c so she would never write any exam in this country. since her parents want to become her teachers, then let them do it as a full time job.
something similar happened in Anambra, when a parent assaulted teacher because of a student. The principal of the school informed other principals and they all ensured that the student couldn't get admitted into any school in the state. the parents had to start begging in the end. People have taken teachers for granted to much in this country. and until the teachera start standing up for their rights. more of this may happen again

That of unit 731 is actually very detailed and gives me chills when I read it.
The Japanese were just as bad as the Nazis if not worse.
As for the Holocaust, people tend to forget other group of people that suffered as well. For example the Gypsies were persecuted and killed as much as the Jews.

Its really sad that we learn nothing at all from history. The rise of populism has shown that.

ok......i beliv say my phone na authentic so no need checking. Wat happens wen u boot ur phone in Odin mode?
In that mode, you can make your phone better or ruin it beyond repair. Odin mode is where you reflash your OS, root your phone, install custom OS, repair your phone or if you are not careful, damage your phone permanently. Don't do anything there except you know what you are doing.

Refurbished phones may Odin mode if they are original in the first place. The difference is that the model number shown on Odin mode will differ from that shown on the phone. For example most S3 I have seen are actually Verizon S3. in this case, the phones show I9300 as model number, but Odin shows SCH-I535. I9300 is the model number for intention variants while SCH-I535 is the model for Verizon variants of S3

after pressing dat on my samsung, it on and i saw a Safe mode text at the right hand side of my phone, all my apps were no where to be founf although i did not check the file manager. But my pictures and videos still dey. So does it mean my phone is original?
The button combo works for many Samsung phones but not all. Google how to boot into Odin mode for your model of phone. when you boot into that mode, it shows a warning that the operation may damage your device and ask you to continue or reboot. If the phone is a clone, this information is written in Chinese.

Another way is to download cpu-z or CPU ram identifier and install it. compare the specs shown on the app to the correct one (check for it google). Most clones use mediatek processor. if the phone is original, the specs shown on the app will exactly match the correct ones.

To remove safe mode, just reboot the phone normally

Another hint for samsung users, If you use a samsung and it doesn't enter ODIN mode, it's Fake........
How to enter ODIN mode on samsung:
Turn off the device.
Press and hold down Volume down and Home button.
While holding both the above keys press and hold the
power button.
Once the phone vibrates let go of the power button,
but keep holding the Volume up and Home button.
This is the surest way of verifying for Samsung phones.

The only protest that would make sense to me is the one in which the following are demanded

1. All cases of corruption and looting must not exceed 2 months in a court.

2. Guilty verdict must result in death penalty that must be carried out within 48 hours in the full glare of the public except in cases of appeal and all appeal cases must not exceed one month.

3. Not guilty verdict carries a minimum of 10 years imprisonment and maximum of life and the individual would forfeit half of his/her assets.

4. The national assembly should be collapsed into one house and there should be equal representation for all states. The total number of legislators must not exceed 150.

If 1 - 3 can be well implemented, then most of problems would magically disappear or become reduced to barest minimum.
