If the claim that the British Anglicized "Igbo" by calling it "Ibo", why did same not apply to Yoruba words/places like Ogbomosho, Osogbo, Oyingbo, etc that have the sound "gb" which is present in the Yoruba alphabet but not in the English alphabet?

That's what history says. And anyone that grew up in the East knows that Ibo is not a thing there, they don't refer or address themselves like that at all.
