OmoBendel24: Why is your mum sponsoring your sister please? Better work on establishing your sister's ties instead of hoping to get her a visa back of your mum. They will still very much know to separate them if her ties ain't tight! Outside being married and having a fixed deposit what more does she have going for her in your opinion, kindly highlight. She is sponsoring because she suggested they go together and agreed to paying the bills. This is why I asked if she should also mention to the VO that she has a business which she would take the documents and statement along with her. For my sister, she works and has kids. She collected a letter from work to prove this. |

I applied for a visit visa for my mom to attend my graduation, i wrote that she is retired as her profession. My sister is also planning to come with her so they will be going for the interview together. My mum is the sponsor for both of them. Now i'm wondering if she should also mention during the interview that she has a business she is running after retirement as a civil servant. OR just maintain what is written on the DS160 form as a retiree.
please note: (1) she is the sponsor and she is retired. (2) she has a decent business she can add to proove home ties. (3) my sister is married and has a fixed deposit to show additional support. (4) they will be attending the interview together |

Walspring: I don't think this is applicable to US, although schools will tell you the kind of test you should do before coming over..
But where do you get this information if i may ask I saw it on a blog as part of documents to take to the POE. My school requires some proof of immunization before registering for classes. I don't know if I can do it here or will have to do it when I get to the school. |

Hello e-family. Has anyone ever come across this and does it apply to the US too?
"you may be denied entry if you cannot show a doctor’s note that states you have been vaccinated against whatever diseases or conditions the host country specifies."
Do I need to get all the immunization requirement before traveling as I don't have any document to show proof of immunity OR will I do them in the school? |

mbeenox: If you take a month old bank for interview, hope there's no problem with it? I guess you mean the bank statement was printed a month before the interview. I will advice you print a more recent bank statement, because your current balance also matters along side the cash flow in the account. Try to print the statement few days to your interview date if possible, just to be on a safer side. |

Your 1st stop might be in Dubai, London etc depending on d airline. But the 1st stop in US is the POE, for instance u are going to Atlanta, u had a stopover in dubai and New York, New York is ur POE. Yes I understand that it is the 1st stop in the US. All the same, thank you Kennyrony for ensuring that I am not confused. |

djmakson: “The Lord shall give me the tongue of the learned that I shall know what to speak to the Consular.” That was my declaration adapted from Isaiah 50 vs 4. Arrived the Consulate at about 6am. Did the usual checking (about 40 of us for the 6.30am batch) and we got into the final hall. Did our biometrics and thereafter sat patiently for the VOs to arrive. It got to my turn at about 7:30am and I was called to window 10 by a guy presumably in his late 30s. The following conversation ensued between us.
Me: Good morning (with a smile) and how was your night? VO: Good morning and fine thank you. Let me have your documents please. Me: I passed them. VO: Why are you going to US? Me: For my Masters in Business Admin & Mgt. VO: What school? Me: University of *****in ***** VO: You applied to any other school? Didn’t hear him well so I quickly responded “Pardon”? And then he asked again. Me: Yes. I named two other schools (Framed). VO: So why the school? Me: The school has the exact curriculum that matches my profile and as well have seasoned professionals both on-field and off-field in the likes of Dr. ****** and Mr ***** offering globally relevant education that will make me fit anywhere in the world. He cuts in VO: Where did you graduate from? Me: OOU VO: What course? Me: Economics. VO: Did you write GMAT? Checking my i-20 Me: No, I wrote GRE. (It was waived but I wrote it cos I discovered here that it’s always been asked for) VO: What was your score? Me: 302. I then passed the UNOFFICIAL score sheet I printed from my ETS account. He checked and returned it. VO: What would the degree do for you? Me: It will equip me with the required skill to manage my dad’s business efficiently when I return to Nigeria. VO: Who’s sponsoring you? Me: My Dad. VO: What does he do? Me: I told him. VO: Picking the collection letter, he said “I’ll approve your visa. Pick it up at this circled place on Saturday. Goodluck” Me: Thank you.
No financial document was asked for.
My profound gratitude to God who made it happen. Special thanks to this wonderful personality in Innovativeame who consumed his call credit on lengthy calls just for sessions of dummy interviews for my sake. Only God can reward you bro. Special thanks to those who keep the forum alive and interesting.

VO: good morning me: good morning vo: so why do you want to go to the US me: to further my studies.... going for a masters degree vo: i see you are going to FIU, how did you find out about the school me: i searched the internet for schools in the US that offer the course i intend studying that is MIS and got results. I filtered the results further to schools that actually offer MIS as a degree on its own and not as a specialization under their MBA program. (VO nods) vo: where did you have your bachelors me: xoxo university vo: what year did you graduate me: 2013 vo: what have you been doing since you graduated me: i have been working as an IT engineer with a media outfit. vo: why do you want to study this course. me: to prepare me for a managerial position at work. MIS is the MBA equivalent for tech students. It will help me become a professional in my field. vo: did you apply to any other school me: yes vo: which schools me: Northeastern uni, Uni of Illinois. vo: who is sponsoring you me: my dad vo: what does he do me: he owns a company and does contract jobs for the government vo: how much does he make monthly me: I really can't say because it is his income, and i have never asked him. You can have a look at his bank statement. (i tried reaching for it and pass to him) vo: i don't have to see that, give me an estimate. me: i can't say vo: you can look at the statement if that will help you. me: (i looked at d statement for a few seconds, then i answered)... close to 2million. vo: are you married me: no, but i am engaged vo: ok, your visa has been approved.....he returned only my I-20 saying I will be needing it at the POE, then he passed the white paper to me. (i was happy and couldn't hear most of what he said at this point) vo: thank you and enjoy your stay in the united states me: thank you and have a great day.
I went straight to collect my bag where i dropped it and went to get a cab.
Now, i remember those that were granted visa before me were also told to pick it up in 2weeks/3weeks time not the usual 2 to 3 business days.
Can I get someone to pick it up for me because I will be at work when it will be ready (leave will be over by then). Hope there has not been any issue recorded in the past with a proxy picking it up.
I THANK GOD FOR THIS AND ALSO THANK YOU ALL IN THE HOUSE FOR THE GUIDANCE ALL ALONG..... TO THOSE WAITING FOR THEIR INTERVIEW, I AM ALSO WAITING FOR YOUR TESTIMONY (TRANSCRIPT) HERE.

DARKLIGHT: Elmadavida, Kennyrony is right. The study leave is a plus. May I ask if your undergraduate course, your job function, and intended course to study related? It's not that it really matters. It's just it will help the gurus to guide you in the preview of your intended interview transcript before the interview. Yes the undergraduate course and job function are related. Intended course to study is a broader field and still covers a bit of my current discipline. But the name of the course written on the I-20 is different from that on the admission letter they gave me. Although, the course name on the admission letter is the correct one, I used the name written on the I-20 while filling the DS-160 form. I hope I have not done anything wrong. |

Thank you Kennyrony. What if they ask for his business SOA to see details of the business transactions for clarification. His personal account is where the funds are but no business transaction. Can I include the certificate of incorporation of his company in which I was also listed as part of the 3 directors? The company account balance is not enough and does not have as much funds as his personal account which I want to use. kennyrony: Yea perfect. It even but u use is personal SOA than the business |
