I have a neighbour who imported truck load of fairly used fridge, sound system, shopper bic, and cars. though Jr has not sold the car sin last December but he sold every other thing within a week. He will be traveling to Germany anytime from now for same biz. The home appliances business is good, but aren't they contraband? |

omonnakoda: If you are in Africa and you have 2 million naira you really do not need to buy anything from Europe there is enough to buy and sell in Africa. The easiest and most obvious is Food.Even if you ar selling garri with 2 million Naira after 12 month you will know what you are doing.Do some research and find where to source from ,transport costs etc. You will have to become a trader and sit down with your goods everyday.Whether,Garri,Rice, beans, tomato, onions etc. There is no day that you won't sell. If you have 2 million you wil buy at good prices. Now talking about Europe I Will not advice it at all and at any rate Shipping and clearing a 40ft container alone will cost 2 million without talking about what you will put in it. Generally the things that you will make money importing are often contraband and so risky . Those that are not contraband are very competitive with very big players in the market. You will not be able to by anything at a good price if you are buying just 2 million naira and you will discover when you arrive in Nigeria you cannot profit.Another thing you must be aware of is a lot of importers have a dubious source of income so they can buy something for $1000 and when it reaches Nigeria they still sell for $1000 even less because they got their money mysteriously . How can you compete with that.? I do not know why people are so fixed on leaving Nigeria when the country is so blessed. From your question it does not sound as if you know much about business and so the first thing I will advise you to do is to go and learn from those that are already in business. Then you can decide wat you want to do.Put your money in a fixed account or buy Federal Government Treasury bills which will give very good interest. I strongly recommend foodstuff but even that you must learn.Youu can join a union. If you are in Lagos there are rurall areas still find cheap land to rent and get labourers to plant ugwu leaves(they have union too) .It might seem dirty but is rewarding . If you are really fixed on importing spare parts is good bt you must learn it for months or even years Good luck The problem is that I don't live in Nigeria as I said earlier. I just need something I can buy and then supply to people and get my money back straightaway. I appreciate your submission though. |

I am very knowledgeable in issues pertaining to spiritual wife and I can tell you that most of what the Op wrote are not true. For example, how can you advise an unmarried person that after making love with his or her boy/girl friend he/she should perform some rituals after which he/she would be free from the molestation of the spiritual husband/wife? That is very wrong. One of the things that paves way for this spiritual entities in a man's life is sexual immorality, and pre marital sex is also one. |

Obasanjo Attacks Jonathan Again, Accuses President Of Squandering Oil Savings
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has again launched a public attack on President Goodluck Jonathan, accusing him of squandering $25billion crude oil savings left behind by his administration.
Mr. Obasanjo made the allegation while hosting the South-West women leaders at his residence in Abeokuta Monday. He said his administration left over $25 billion to his successor, Musa Yar’adua, who raised the sum to $35 billion.
Mr. Obasanjo said he also left $40billion in Nigeria’s foreign reserve account after paying the outstanding debt at the time.
He said former President Yar’adua also raised the reserves to $60billion.
Under President Jonathan, the reserves has plummeted to $40billion, Mr. Obasanjo said.
The new claims followed a series of public denunciation of Mr. Jonathan’s government by the former president.
In 2014, Mr. Obasanjo repeatedly lambasted the current government, accusing the president of promoting and tolerating corruption, and failing to provide security for Nigerians.
Mr. Obasanjo also released a book mid-December scolding the president as a self-centred politician who thinks less of the country and fraternises with corrupt and questionable characters.
In his comments on Monday, Mr. Obasanjo said he was not fighting the president, nor was Mr. Jonathan fighting him. He said he was more concerned about the interest of the country, and therefore cared less about criticisms.
“Our economy should not have been this bad. When I was leaving office about eight years ago, I left a very huge reserve after we had paid all our debts. Almost $25billion we kept in what they called excess crude. The excess from the budget we were saving as reserve for the rainy days. When we left in May 2007, the reserve was said to have been raised to $35billion,” he said.
“But today, that reserve has been depleted! Today, that reserve has been depleted. The reserve we left when we finished paying all our debts, our debts that was about 40billion dollars, that is including debt forgiveness, the remaining debt was not more than $3billion. Our reserve after we had paid off this debt was about $45billion. As I said, they continued till the end of 2007, I heard that the reserve increased to almost $67billion before the end of the year. Our reserve now, learnt is left with around only $30billion.
“That is why the Naira has been falling against the dollar. What would now happen, I learnt if you want to buy a dollar now, it’s about N192 or N195. What it means is this, what you have been buying at N150 to a dollar, now you need N192 or N195 to buy it. That is the real situation. Is there any remedy? There is, but it does not come overnight because it means we have to give up all the bad things we have been doing,” Mr. Obasanjo said.
“I know that God did not create Nigeria not to be rich or great. Is it that the people he created in Nigeria are not knowledgeable enough or not intelligent enough? Or is that they don’t know their rights? Our problems in Nigeria, let’s look at the foundation of our leadership. In the profession I know very well, the military, what we normally say is that there are no bad soldiers but bad officers. If you see a situation where the soldiers are not doing well, we need to examine the officers in charge. So it is in the family, the community, the town and the country,” he said.
He denied being against President Jonathan.
“I have no grudges against Jonathan and I think Jonathan equally has no grudges against me. I’m not quarrelling with Jonathan but all I know is that whatever is good for Nigeria, that I’m ready to die for,” he said.
“I emphasize that whatever is good for Nigeria, is what I’m ready to defend with my life. Whoever, I emphasize, whoever says he would not do anything good to Nigeria, even if he says he’s ready to go ‘konko below’, I’m ready to square it up with such a person. I say again, whoever that person may be, I want you to get that correctly. If this country is going to change for the better, it would start from the top and if it’s going to be otherwise, it would start from the top, too,” the former president stressed.
On the forthcoming election, Mr. Obasanjo said he’s not apprehensive as being speculated, just as he advised the electorates to vote for candidates with integrity and good records.
“I have no apprehension over this coming elections. I have no fears over the forthcoming elections. I have had some little experience about this country. I was a military head of state and I was also a civilian president, so what is left?’
“So, if I talk, I know what I’m saying. Whoever wants, should listen to me and whoever feels otherwise, may turn a deaf ear. But when I’m talking, I’m talking with my understanding and intellect. I’m drawing from my experience and from what I’ve learnt with others and from other countries and fellow eminent citizens of the world that I relate with. But leave all of that.
“Good governance comes from voting, from selection of leaders. It is now left to you to decide who you cast your vote for because if you throw away your votes and tomorrow you are saying good governance, once you throw away your votes you have lost out. That is one. Find out the track records of achievements of those you want to vote for. What have they achieved in the past and not what they have said’.
“Truly, the price of crude has fallen, but anyone who is wise enough should know that since we depend on just one resources, and since we have no control over its pricing, we should be planning for this type of situation and the way out of it. Our inability to have reserve has brought us into this economic quagmire,” he said.
Earlier in her speech, the Iyalode of Yorubaland, who led the women, noted that President Obasanjo has become a good repository of everything that makes for nationhood.
“You are the hand and eye in all the nooks and crannies of Nigeria. You are the voice everybody is waiting to hear his response on any topical issue in the public domain. We believe we are in the right place to discuss with you some knotty issues bleeding our hearts as we have seen you as a beacon of hope and lights for the nation”, Ms. Lawson told Obasanjo.
On state of the nation, the women said they were concerned about current happenings in the country, going by the current atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.
She said the nation is plagued by insecurity, economic downturn, poverty, corruption, among other challenges.
“The unabated nefarious activities of the insurgents which have placed us as a people on the throes of war is worrisome to us, because womenfolk is the most affected. Countless Nigerian women have lost their lives, husbands, children, relatives and sources of livelihood as a result of the despicable acts of killing and wanton destruction by the Boko Haram insurgents,” she said. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/174294-obasanjo-attacks-jonathan-accuses-president-squandering-oil-savings.html

A court in Mauritania has sentenced 28 year old journalist Mohamed Cheikh Ould Mkhaitir to death for apostasy for criticizing Prophet Muhammed. According to Reuters, the journalist was sentenced by a court in the northwestern city of Nouadhibou for an article he published almost a year ago, questioning some of the decisions Prophet Mohammed took during holy wars. Some folks saw the article which he posted online and appeared on a number of websites and called for his arrest. He was arrested on January 2nd 2014 after the article sparked street protests and has been in custody ever since. When he appeared in court, he pleaded not guilty, telling the court that it was 'not his intention to harm the prophet' but he was still found guilty and sentenced to death under Sharia law. The prosecutors recommended that he be shot to death. AFP reported that the blogger fainted when the ruling was read out in court yesterday Dec. 25th. He was revived and taken to prison. His lawyers say they will appeal the sentence. According to AFP, Mauritania hasn't executed a prisoner since 1987, and has not given a death sentence for apostasy since it gained its independence from France in 1960. http://lindaikeji..com/2014/12/mauritania-journalist-sentenced-to.html#more

Politics › Nigerian Government Buys 77 T72 Tanks To Fight Boko Haram? (pic) by ElRey01(op): 3:49pm On Dec 19, 2014 |
Don't know how authentic this is so I'm going to post it exactly the way it was sent to me. Find below Find attached a pic of recently acquired T72 tanks by GEJ administration to tackle BH. The soldiers moral are so high now because these T72 tanks purchased from Ukraine are Anti-IED, Anti Missile and are indestructible unless shot by another tank. They were purchased as part of the utilization of the 1Billion dollar loan and 77 were bought and are being distributed in the trouble area. Now boko haram are fleeing and they are now setting IED's everywhere but apparently they cant destroy the Tank. Last week, BH loaded a Toyota Starlet and while passing like passengers, they ran into one of the tanks and made a huge hole on the ground and killed 5 soldiers but the soldiers inside the tank were not even scratched. It is their massive IED attack where they plant IED and run away and while combing the area Major Umar was killed. A gallant Officer. But with these Undestructable tank, One soldier can confidently drive into BH Territory and cause havoc without a scratch. I can confidently tell you that 6 BH Tanks have been destroyed by our troops in Yola. BH days are over, attach is a pix of 14 tanks deployed to Adamawa. I decided to share this pix after watching the massacre on the Bridge you posted yesterday These tanks are all computerized and they use GPS to locate and shoot, that means if you feed it a beacon location on land it will destroy it, it is that accuraate. The triggers are also computerized buttons. http://lindaikeji..com/2014/12/nigerian-government-buys-77-t72-tanks.html#more

TRIHypocrisy, lies and deception. That is how l can summarize the snippets of OBASANJO'S new book. He attacked everyone "attackable" except himself, the Saint. I am not a fan of president Jonathan but Obasanjo has no moral right to keep attacking the president since he foisted the late president Umaru Yar'Adua and Jonathan on Nigerians. He is vicariously liable. By the way, Nigerians have not forgotten how his government squandered $16 billion on the power sector without anything to show for it. And if a man close to 80 years can still be lying through his teeth that he never planned a THIRD TERM, then nobody should believe whatever is in that book. Obasanjo is of the same pedestal with Nasir El Rufai who similarly wrote a trash of a book, demonising everyone except himself. All the trash he wrote about Atiku shows the type of terrible person Obasanjo is. Here was an Atiku, who prevented the Abacha death squad from killing him when he was in Yola prison. After General Yar'Adua was forcefully injected at Abakaliki prison by Abacha's"Dr death", Yar'Adua sent words to his protege, Atiku how he was forcefully injected and that he feared for his life. Atiku immediately sent words to Obasanjo in Yola prison not to allow himself to be injected in case "Dr death" came around. That was the saving grace. When "Dr death" came to Obasanjo that he wanted to inject him, OBJ scream "l am not sick o, l am not sick o". That was how his death was evaded but Yar'adua died due to the poison injected into his system. And when this same Obj came out of the prison broke, Atiku rehabilitated him with N100 million. This is the same Obj that is rubbishing Atiku. In the book, he cleverly refused to address the open letter his first child, Iyabo wrote to him, dismissing it as being the handiwork of Jonathan to get at him. Rubbish. He equally refused to address the allegation of his son, Gbenga that he slept with his wife. Here was someone who arm twisted the money bags to raise N6billion for him in one day for his library, now talking of morality in governance. Nobody should believe what Obasanjo the saint in writing. I would rather admonish this old man to go make peace with his conscience and God before he leaves this earth, rather than engaging in these spurious grandstanding. |

I don't see corruption decreasing in Nigeria in the nearest future as long as we keep celebrating our many ex corrupt leaders. When a former leader is tried and jailed for corruption that is when Nigerians will start being honest and run away from corrupt activities. It is sad, but let the truth be told, 90% of our politicians are corrupt and bigots. Corruption has become a household name in Nigeria that if you don't answer it you become an outcast. The Issue of fighting corruption is not government's business alone. Go to any cooporate organisation and see the alarming level of corruption practised, and I tell you they are partners with politicians in corruption. Every Nigerian should examine himself and tell himself the truth first on how he or she came about his stupendous wealth starting with the demi god obasanjo and others. |

Hear Him: “Obasanjo is just making noise. I think he is behaving like a spoilt child. He was in office for 8 years; first time, he was in office for 2 years, what did he do for the people of Nigeria?” “The railway which he abandoned for the 8 years he was in power has been resuscitated by Jonathan. Today you can ride from Iddo station in Lagos to Kano, and the one in the East will soon be in operation. Today a modern rail line is being constructed from Abuja to Kaduna. “We have so many airports that have been refurbished. What did Obasanjo do during his own time? He sold the Nigeria Airways, left all the airports in a dilapidated position. A man who is from the West, the express road from Lagos to Ibadan, he abandoned it, allowed it to go into decay. President Jonathan has awarded it to a reputable contractor. The road from Shagamu to Benin has been done. Today you can drive from Ore to Benin City in about 1 hour." “Even the road from Lagos to Ota which passes through his place cannot be used. What has he done that Jonathan did not do? He left this country with about 2, 500 megawatts, today even though people are complaining, it has increased to about 4,500 megawatts. Obasanjo will not give credit to anybody. Tell me what he did for Nigeria in his 8 years in office except that he destroyed the country. Today the country is infested with corruption which he started. It was Obasanjo that legalised corruption in this country”. “Number two, he wanted third term extension, and for that reason he paid N50 million to some of the House of Representatives members for them to approve his third term ambition. He sold away most of government properties belonging to the country at give away prices to companies, some of them he has shares in them." “Obasanjo is the most corrupt ruler in this country. We can see what he did with Atiku over the Petroleum Development Fund, where Atiku accused him of buying a car for his girlfriend with money from PTDF. So what is Obasanjo talking about? He is the most corrupt leader in Nigeria; he should not be walking about. In fact he should be tried. He should be arrested and be tried in the country, and corruption will go down”. “If Obasanjo is tried for corruption, corruption will go down. People will be afraid. People embrace corruption because nothing has happened to a corrupt leader like Obasanjo”. -Chief Edwin Clark http://dailyindependentnig.com/2014/12/obj-tried-corruption-clark/
