iamoyindamola: Since Tuesday I hardly sleep, there's no way I don't wake up in the midnight thinking about the whole situations Why will they send soldiers when we have anti riot even if the protesters are stubborn There was no need to send anything to that ground, absolutely no need. There was no riot there, no fight, no vandalism. Just people peacefully occupying. Hotspots where thugs (majority of them rented by the government or their cronies of course) are the places that needed police intervention, not even the military. The government has so brutalised us that we accept anything they throw at us as normal, I'm not surprised. |

izzou: I know sir
Like I said, I don't know about the one in Lekki, but when a client comes to advertise his campaign, a set time is placed on the contract
Those ads you watch for 5-10 seconds are paid heavily for. I know a company that paid over 100 million to show their ads on our boards for a year. Even the ENDSARS campaign that you see during the protests was paid for. Nothing goes for free there because LASAA must collect their money (in millions) too
It's possible that Lekki board has to be on because there's always traffic due to the night life there, but I know what I'm saying. It has a time to go off...Maybe you just haven't met it off
Hope you're safe, brother? I'm safe bro, almost branched off there that Tuesday but I couldn't because of traffic. I just wish it never turned out this way, the Nigerian government is a disgrace to nationhood. |

nitrogen: 2 years ago...not sure a lot has changed since then.
I think the billboard has a timeframe of 19 hours per day which means it's available from 4/5 am till past midnight. Yeah true, it almost never goes off, like a 24hrs uptime. Never been turned off at 6PM (even during lockdown) to the best of my knowledge cos I ply that route almost everyday. Everything that happened yesterday reeks of collusion, cos I'm still trying to imagine why it needed to be turned off and power cut as well, there haven't been any case of vandalism there, the most organized protest ground. I have been there for the protest. |

BlueRayDick: Exactly! It's simple and clear; citizens lost their lives because somebody in government ordered soldiers to use live ammunitions against unharmed citizens. Anybody justifying what happened on Tuesday no matter what, is a very stupid person and deserves no joy in their lives. |

izzou: Those boards have times to go on and off at specific times of the day.
I don't know about Lekki, but the one on 3MB is usually put on around few minutes to 6am, and they go off around 10:45pm(I once worked there)
The aim is to target traffic. If people are not moving at a specific time, there is no point of showing anything. Afterall, clients pay heavily for those few seconds of advert we watch
Also, those boards are run on generators all through. They don't use PHCN because of inconsistencies. So you should expect how many litres of diesel that is burned
The reason those boards were up during the protests is because the company might have figured that the protesters were enough audience to advertise. They don't owe the protesters any debt to switch it on. They can as well switch it off from the beginning.
It's a business enterprise, not a means of electrification The one at Lekki barely goes off, na my area be that. Even for Covid lockdown it was mostly active. I don't think I have seen it off even during my club nights, the one at Eleganza that is not billed sef is always active |

eph12: It's unfortunate how some of us watch ball honestly. We tend to put a microscope on the players we don't like and quick to cry when any thing happens. Fred had a better game than Tom yesterday going by almost all the defensive and passing stats but we always choose to vilify Fred at any opportunity. He's not the player we yearn for in the midfield but we shouldn't be biased every time. Make una dey wear glass watch ball sometimes abeg. It's not funny anymore. I didn't really watch the game, can't say anything about this. |
