Islam for Muslims / The Virtues Of Patience In Light Of The Noble Quran. by Embell: 7:32am On Apr 13, 2018
According to Marriem-Webster dictionary patience is the capacity, habit, or fact of being patient, while patient is being able to remain
calm and not become annoyed when waiting for a long time or when dealing with problems or difficult people.

In Arabic, patience translates into Sabr, written ﺻَﺒْﺮٌ . ﺻَﺒْﺮٌ and references to ﺻَﺒْﺮٌ are mentioned about 90 times in the Quran signifying how important it is for a Muslim.

Patience is in fact the hallmark of a good Muslim, it's a prescription from almighty Allah upon us Muslims and the rest of man kind as well.

The following are teachings of ﺻَﺒْﺮٌ in light of the Quran:

1. Instruction. Patience is enjoined upon believers:
ﻭﺍﺻﺒﺮ ﻭﻣﺎ ﺻﺒﺮﻙ ﺇﻻ ﺑﺎﻟﻠﻪ
“And be patient for your patience is but by Allah…” [an-Nahl 16:127]
ﻭﺍﺻﺒﺮ ﻟﺤﻜﻢ ﺭﺑﻚ
” Await in patience the command of your Lord…” [at-tur 52:48].

2. That which is opposite to patience is forbidden:
ﻭﻻ ﺗﺴﺘﻌﺠﻞ ﻟﻬﻢ
and be in no haste about them (disbelievers) [al-Ahqaf 46:35].
ﻭﻻ ﺗﻬﻨﻮﺍ ﻭﻻ ﺗﺤﺰﻧﻮﺍ
“So lose not heart nor despair…” [Al ‘Imran 3:139].
ﻭﻻ ﺗﻜﻦ ﻛﺼﺎﺣﺐ ﺍﻟﺤﻮﺕ ﺇﺫ ﻧﺎﺩﻯ ﻭﻫﻮ ﻣﻜﻈﻮﻡ
“…and be not like the Companion of the Fish [i.e. Yunus [alayhissalaam] – when he cried out in agony” [al-Qalam 68:48].

3.Patience is made a condition of success and prosperity:
ﻳﺎ ﺃﻳﻬﺎ ﺍﻟﺬﻳﻦ ﺁﻣﻨﻮﺍ ﺍﺻﺒﺮﻭﺍ ﻭﺻﺎﺑﺮﻭﺍ ﻭﺭﺍﺑﻄﻮﺍ ﻭﺍﺗﻘﻮﺍ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻟﻌﻠﻜﻢ ﺗﻔﻠﺤﻮﻥ
O you who believe, persevere and endure and remain stationed and fear Allah that you may be successful [Al ‘Imran 3:200].

4. The rewards of those who exercise patience will be doubled:
ﺃﻭﻟﺌﻚ ﻳﺆﺗﻮﻥ ﺃﺟﺮﻫﻢ ﻣﺮﺗﻴﻦ ﺑﻤﺎ ﺻﺒﺮﻭﺍ
“These shall be granted their reward twice, because they are steadfast…” [al-Qasas 28:54].
ﺇﻧﻤﺎ ﻳﻮﻓﻰ ﺍﻟﺼﺎﺑﺮﻭﻥ ﺃﺟﺮﻫﻢ ﺑﻐﻴﺮ ﺣﺴﺎﺏ
“…Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account.” [az-Zumar 39:10].
Sulayman ibn Qasim said that
the reward of every deed is known, except for the reward of patience, which will be like heavy rain .

5. Patience and Eemaan are prerequisites for leadership in religion:
ﻭﺟﻌﻠﻨﺎ ﻣﻨﻬﻢ ﺃﺋﻤﺔ ﻳﻬﺪﻭﻥ ﺑﺄﻣﺮﻧﺎ ﻟﻤﺎ ﺻﺒﺮﻭﺍ ﻭﻛﺎﻧﻮﺍ ﺑﺂﻳﺎﺗﻨﺎ ﻳﻮﻗﻨﻮﻥ
“And We made from among them leaders guiding by Our command when they were patient and [when] they were certain of Our signs. “ [as-Sajdah 32:24].

6.Patience is the way to earn the companionship of Allah:
ﻭ ﺍﺻﺒﺮﻭﺍ ﺇﻥ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻣﻊ ﺍﻟﺼﺎﺑﺮﻳﻦ
“…and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” [al-Anfal 8:46].
Abu Ali ad-Daqqaq said:
“ People who have patience are the true winners in this world and the next, because they have the companionship of Allah .”

7. Allah will reward those who have patience with a threefold reward: blessings, mercy and guidance:
ﻭﺑﺸﺮ ﺍﻟﺼﺎﺑﺮﻳﻦ
ﺍﻟﺬﻳﻦ ﺇﺫﺍ ﺃﺻﺎﺑﺘﻬﻢ ﻣﺼﻴﺒﺔ ﻗﺎﻟﻮﺍ ﺇﻧﺎ ﻟﻠﻪ ﻭﺇﻧﺎ ﺇﻟﻴﻪ ﺭﺍﺟﻌﻮﻥ
ﺃﻭﻟﺌﻚ ﻋﻠﻴﻬﻢ ﺻﻠﻮﺍﺕ ﻣﻦ ﺭﺑﻬﻢ ﻭﺭﺣﻤﺔ ﻭﺃﻭﻟﺌﻚ ﻫﻢ ﺍﻟﻤﻬﺘﺪﻭﻥ
“…but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere – who say, when afflicted with calamity: ‘To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return’ – they are those on whom [descend] blessings from their Lord, and Mercy and they are the ones that receive guidance” [al-Baqarah 2:155-7].
When people came to offer their condolences to one of the salaf, for some calamity that had befallen him, he said:
“ Why should I not practice patience, when Allah has promised those who have patience three rewards, each of which is better than this world and everything in it
?“

8.Patience is a means of seeking Allah’s help:
ﻭﺍﺳﺘﻌﻴﻨﻮﺍ ﺑﺎﻟﺼﺒﺮ ﻭﺍﻟﺼﻼﺓ
“And seek assistance through patience and prayer…” [al-Baqarah 2:45].
So whoever has no patience has no help.
9.Patience and taqwa are conditions for Allah’s help and support:
ﺑﻠﻰ ﺇﻥ ﺗﺼﺒﺮﻭﺍ ﻭﺗﺘﻘﻮﺍ ﻭﻳﺄﺗﻮﻛﻢ ﻣﻦ ﻓﻮﺭﻫﻢ ﻫﺬﺍ ﻳﻤﺪﺩﻛﻢ ﺭﺑﻜﻢ ﺑﺨﻤﺴﺔ ﺁﻻﻑ ﻣﻦ ﺍﻟﻤﻼﺋﻜﺔ ﻣﺴﻮﻣﻴﻦ
“Yes, if you remain patient and conscious of Allah and the enemy come upon you [attacking] in rage, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels having marks [of distinction] “ [Al ‘Imran 3:125].

10.Patience and taqwa are a great protection against the cunning of enemies:
ﻭﺇﻥ ﺗﺼﺒﺮﻭﺍ ﻭﺗﺘﻘﻮﺍ ﻻ ﻳﻀﺮﻛﻢ ﻛﻴﺪﻫﻢ ﺷﻴﺌﺎ ﺇﻥ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺑﻤﺎ ﻳﻌﻤﻠﻮﻥ ﻣﺤﻴﻂ
“…And if you are patient and fear Allah , their plot will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah is encompassing of what they do.…” [Al ‘Imran 3:120].
11.The angels will salute the people of patience in Jannah:
ﻭﺍﻟﻤﻼﺋﻜﺔ ﻳﺪﺧﻠﻮﻥ ﻋﻠﻴﻬﻢ ﻣﻦ ﻛﻞ ﺑﺎﺏ
ﺳﻼﻡ ﻋﻠﻴﻜﻢ ﺑﻤﺎ ﺻﺒﺮﺗﻢ ﻓﻨﻌﻢ ﻋﻘﺒﻰ ﺍﻟﺪﺍﺭ
“…And the angels will enter upon them from every gate, [saying],”Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home.” [ar-Ra’d 13:23-24].

12.Allah made it permissible to treat our enemies no worse than they treat us, but He has made it clear that practising patience is better:
ﻭﺇﻥ ﻋﺎﻗﺒﺘﻢ ﻓﻌﺎﻗﺒﻮﺍ ﺑﻤﺜﻞ ﻣﺎ ﻋﻮﻗﺒﺘﻢ ﺑﻪ ﻭﻟﺌﻦ ﺻﺒﺮﺗﻢ ﻟﻬﻮ ﺧﻴﺮ ﻟﻠﺼﺎﺑﺮﻳﻦ
“And if you punish [an enemy, O believers], punish with an equivalent of that with which you were harmed. But if you are patient – it is better for those who are patient.” [an-Nahl 16:126].

Hello guys, there's something I want to ascertain about V. Moses. Which foot is his stronger one is it right, left or both feet since the guy seems to fit in playing comfortably on both flanks for SE.

Thanks.
There are players who (can) MOVE the ball very well with both feet. Not talking about (only) using both feet to shoot, but playing the ball with them; Moses is one of those players. Player like the diminutive Di Nathaniel also happen to be one.
Moses can use both feet pretty well, but if I'm compel to choose which one is his favoured feet I would say his right.

It's astonishing that some non-Muslims here are complaining about Islamic ruling. Ruling that has to do with Muslims way of life; tagging it as restriction, 'chain' or whatsoever. Is it your 'chain'? Muslims are proud that there are rulings guiding us, proud that unlike some religions 'alcohol permissible there is forbidden there', 'tithe here is something else there '. Do constitution not guide state or bond its citizens? Won't there be lawless if there no rules?
Rules guiding here and hereafter are true rules.

It's a dagger through our heart that the
world lost another great sport personality.
Nigeria's very own 'Muhammad Ali' -
Stephen Keshi - the big boss - he came, he
saw and conquer(Nigeria football). A
leader, a commander, and a motivator
with this rare undying spirit, paid his due
to fatherland. It no more new he has join
the list of Nigeria's past hero. He surely left
legacies.
In the light of this, I will be sharing a
compendium of his stand out football
achievements, so that we can understand
the value of a gem that has just been lost.
Every football fans in Nigeria have different
perception about this man, howbeit his
records achievement still remain. Let's go
he into main the issue:
Stephen Okechukwu Keshi (born 23
January 1962) was a Nigerian former
football defender . He is was
football manager of Nigeria. Some of his
records
include the following;
1. He is one of only two people, along with
Egypt 's
Mahmoud El-Gohary , to have won the
Africa Cup of Nations as both a player and
a coach.

2.Between 2004 and 2006 Keshi coached
the
Togo national football team , unexpectedly
bringing them to their first World Cup
tournament, Germany 2006 . Having
secured Togo's unlikely qualification, he
was promptly replaced by German coach
Otto Pfister prior to the World Cup finals,
after Togo showed a dismal performance
and failed to advance to the knock-out
stage in 2006 African Cup of Nations in
Egypt.

3. Keshi is the first and only indigenous
(Nigerian)
coach to win the african cup of nations
for Nigeria.

4. Nigeria never won any trophy since he
left the
national team as the captain. It was only
after his return to national team as the
coach,
that Nigeria won its first trophy since
1994.

5. On 18 November 2013, Stephen keshi
set a
record in African football by being the
first African coach to successfully qualify
two African nations (Nigeria and Togo) to
the World Cup Finals. He also helped
Nigeria become the first country to
achieve an African Cup of Nations trophy
and World Cup qualification, both in 2013.

6.In september 2014 keshi was rank 14th
best
national team coach in the world just
within his
first three year as the coach of Nigeria
national
side.

7.The 'big boss' as keshi is fondly called
adopt attacking
style of football even when his team is
trailing,when playing against highly rated
opponents, or when playing without his
key players, example is
the 2013 FIFA co-federation cup when his
team
was without Emenike, Moses and, Onazi
who
were then in top form. In an interview
with
Fifa.com before Nigeria's opening opening
march against Iran Keshi said;
I like attacking football. I don't believe you
need to sit back and load behind. You've
got
to be open and make the people come to
the
stadium. They spend so much money –
they
need to get value for it. Good, attacking
football is what I like. Of course there must
be purpose and discipline and
togetherness
to make the good football work.

8. Keshi never lost any competitive match
since
2011 when he was appointed by NFF.
However his
unbeating run was ended by forlan in a
confederation
cup match. Interestingly, it was a end to
forlan's
goal drought in 12 matches.

9. Keshi's team don't lose match without
replying
opponent with goals except on very few
occasion
notably Spain and France......and...

10. He remains the first and only Nigerian
footballer to win the African Nations Cup
for Nigeria as a player and as a coach. He
is
also the first former national team captain
to play at the World Cup and also win a
World
Cup ticket for Nigeria as a coach.

11. He is the the first Nigeria national team
captain to secure and lead Nigeria to its
first world cup, where Nigeria reach
second round.

12. He lead Nigeria to world cup second
round thrice; twice as the team captain in
1994 and 1998 and once as a coach, in
2014.

U-23 AFCON: Senegal cruise into semis, dominate Tunisia 2-0

A wonder goal set hosts Senegal up to beat Tunisia 2-0 in Dakar on Tuesday and move closer to qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games football tournament.
Ibrahima Diedhiou, a Belgium-based central defender wearing pink boots, unleashed a ninth-minute shot from the centre circle that flew over goalkeeper Sabri Ben Hassen into the net.
It was the second time in two African qualifying tournament games that Ben Hassen strayed off his line and was beaten by a long-range shot with Zambian Ronald Kampamba the scorer last Saturday.
Substitute Mouhamadou ‘Habib’ Diallo assured Senegal of a matchday 3 victory with a close-range strike off a cross five minutes from time before a near-capacity crowd at the 60,000-seat Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor.
It was a deserved victory for the hosts over niggly opponents, whose constant fouling and time wasting dashed hopes of a spectacle in the top-of-the-table Group A showdown.
Success assured Senegal of a top-two finish and a place in the semi-finals of the two-week tournament with the countries coming first, second and third overall qualifying for the Rio Games.
Senegal complete their mini-league schedule Friday with a match at the same stadium against Zambia, who have been eliminated and will be playing only for pride.[b][/b][color=#006600][/color]

Rapmoney:
During my sojourn in the Ivory Tower, I was able to figure out that some departments didn't just host lively students and activities. News hardly came from such departments and it seemed these departments were not part of the university community! After visiting some Nigerian higher institutions of learning in recent times, I discovered that the 'boring' phenomenon still exists. Below are some of the departments cheesy wink:

1) Department of Religious Studies: often times when I walked passed this department to my faculty, I couldn't help but wondered whether it is a grave yard since the whole place would be so quiet. The students are not usually much too and they always have this facial expressions of 'Na wa...na me dey study this one'...'Abeg, I don tire for life sef'...'Na make e no be like say we no go school' grin. You hardly hear any campus news from this department too! I wonder what graduates from this department do because I haven't seen any of the religious studies graduate during my time yet!!!

2) Department of Agricultural Science: The value or importance of agriculture in Nigeria cannot be over-emphasized but the way most Nigerian students see this course has made it to become such a boring department that most students on campus look down on with dismay! Most guys who find themselves in this department/faculty, sometimes, feel inferior to approach babes in departments/faculties such as Law and Medicine because they always erroneously think that the babe would look down on them! grin. Na Agric Faculty dey always carry last for my university faculty football championship competition! grin. That inferiority mentality still dey affect them!

3) Department of Philosophy: Another boring department! I once thought of students in this department having a quiet room where they sit and reason for hours as part of their semester exams!!! cheesy. I told a friend and he almost laughed his head off! grin. Na for this dept dem go tell you say the spirit of God dey everything, so you fit address a cup as God! It's such a quiet department.

4) Department of Secretarial Studies: I don't think most of the secretaries in many establishments studied this course to work as a secretary. This department is hardly known and heard of on campus. It is mostly patronised by a handful of rural girls from neighbouring communities who dress like Mary-Amaka! grin

5) Department of Geography/Regional Planning and Urban Development: Another boring department! I don't think they ever held any event such as departmental/award night till I left school! It is a nice course but boring department in most Nigerian schools!

In essence, I think it is the mentality of the Nigerian society that has 'inferiorized' (I wonder if such word exist in English) these departments and the students under them.

You can add yours! cheesy

Jack Warner has been banned for life from all football-related activity, the adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee of the sport’s world governing body said on Tuesday,AFP reports.
The former Caribbean federation president “was found to have committed many and various acts of misconduct continuously and repeatedly during his time as an official in different high-ranking and influential positions at FIFA and CONCACAF” said the Ethics Committee statement.
The 72-year-old’s ban covers all football activity at both a national and international level and is effective from September 25.
“In his positions as a football official, he was a key player in schemes involving the offer, acceptance, and receipt of undisclosed and illegal payments, as well as other money-making schemes,” added the statement.
Warner is also fighting extradition from his homeland in Trinidad and Tobago to the United States to face 12 charges of wire fraud, racketeering and money laundering related to the ongoing FIFA corruption scandal.
He faces a hearing in his homeland in December.

Health / Caribbean Village: Where Female Children Grow Penis At Puberty by Embell: 11:14am On Sep 26, 2015
GIRLS in a remote Caribbean village are
becoming boys when they hit puberty due to a
rare genetic disorder. One in 90 children born
in Salinas in the Dominican Republic grow a
penis in a natural transformation from
female to male. Known as the guevedoces,
which translates as penis at 12, these
youngsters are referred to in medical terms
as “pseudohermaphrodite”.
It is so common to be a pseudohermaphrodite in
Salinas that it is accepted as a third sex,
alongside male and female. The phenomenon
is explored in a new BBC2 series called
Countdown to Life – the Extraordinary
Making of You. Presenters meet Johnny, 24,
who is physically and biologically male but was
once known as Felicitia.
As a child, he did not have a penis and was
brought up as a girl. He said: “I remember I
used to wear a little red dress. I was born at
home instead of in a hospital. They didn’t
know what sex I was. “I went to school and I
used to wear my skirt. I never liked to dress
as a girl. When they bought me girls toys I
never bothered playing with them. All I
wanted to do was play with the boys.”
The rare genetic disorder is caused by a
missing enzyme which prevents the
production of the male sex hormone dihydro-
testosterone in the womb. It creates what
looks like a baby girl on birth. But at puberty,
when testosterone flows, their voices break
and they grow a male sexual reproductive
organ that they become recognised as male.
BBC presenter Dr Michael Mosley said:
“Guevedoces are also sometimes called
‘machihembras’ meaning ‘first a woman,
then a man.’ “When they’re born they look
like girls with no testes and what appears to
be a vagina. “It is only when they near
puberty that the penis grows and testicles
descend.”
The guevedoces were first studied by Cornell
University endocrinologist Dr Julianne
Imperato in the 1970s. She travelled to the
region to learn more about rumours that
girls were morphing into boys.
