Career / Re: How To Switch To A Career In Data Analysis by Embell: 10:58am On Jul 17, 2021
Untrue. Non of the the of Data Analysts in my circle hold a STEM degree. The best machine learning text I have studied was written by a social scientist.

Suspect33:
Note: Data Science is different from Data Analysis

Data Analysis is a branch in Data Science

Forget about Data Science if;

1. You Don't have a Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a relevant STEM degree

2. You hate Maths

3. You really hate Maths grin grin

People can have different preference. But in the world of web development JS seems the most sought after ATM, and I think it's kind of flexible and is relevant to platform like JS node which its experts are sought after ATM.

As for C#, I find it flexible as well, the .NET, integration with Azure where you can host your app and so on. And it also has great and comprehensive documentations and support service provided by Microsoft itself.

Career / Re: What Digital Skill Can I Learn? by Embell: 8:13am On Jul 10, 2021
It takes commitment, proper time management, mobile data for browsing and downloading learning materials, and charged laptop and phone.

On how long it takes to become comfortable in the field and with the tools, it depends on your level of commitment and how fast you can learn. Some people become comfortable in 6 months, some take more time, some less. But the tech field is a lifelong journey, you don't stop learning, that's why even expert creatively cheesy use google when they run into errors.

Conclusively, I'd say pick one field, say Data Science and 1or 2 related tools to start with.

I'd suggest these and their accompanying tools:

1. Data analysis/Data Science — R programming, python.

2. Web development — Javascript

3. App development — C#

NOTE: There are several tools for each of these skills, but the ones mentioned here are good suggestions.

Ola Aina is a fine player. He's demonstrated quality for both club and country. He also contributed assist and penalty in AFCON qualifiers. Fine player he's.

Lol.

Noahubspot:
Modern-day football is far from how football was played in the 90s and early 2000s. For those singing Simy and Onauchu's praises, I hope say una deh watch football.

Modern-day football is all about PACE, and AGILITY.

Let's shun this myopic behavior of ours, and call a spade a spade, at least for once.

Any ardent football fan will agree to the fact that Simy and Onauchu are light years behind, in terms of modern-day football. These guys are too slow for crying out loud.

Like I said in my previous post;

The top 4 Super Eagles strikers are;

V. Osimhen
K. Nacho
T. Moffi
U. Sadiq

Here's my reason.

V. Osimhen: This guy possesses everything you'd want from a CF. Apart from his SPEED, which I believe is a crucial facet of every successful striker, Osimhen can creates lots and lots of chances for his teammates to bang the goals.

Mind you, he's not a skillful striker, but his PACE, oh my good God...

K. Nacho: Nacho lacks PACE! Yes, I talk am. The boy isn't pacy, but...he's got a tremendous skill set to substitute for that. In his day, he can make scoring fun-filled, I swear. In fact, ask Man Utd fans, I believe they'll have one or more contributions to make.

T. Moffi: He's not a household name, to start with. In short, he's one of those new kids in the block. But hey! This guy got PACE and STRENGTH, coupled with SWEET LEFT-FOOT. Seeing Moffi balling reminds me of one Belgian bulldog, the great Lukaku. Although he's not very tall like the Belgian number 9. But his SHOT on-target is powerful enough to either ends a keeper's career, or shift the goal post.

U. Sadiq: He's the tallest of the 4. But guess what? He's got loads of PACE and SKILLS. Sadiq is a joy to watch.

Simy and Onauchu? I like these 2 guys, but I wouldn't love to have them near the GWG.

My reason(s)?

Simy and Onauchu are damn slow! Forget about the goals. But I can tell for a fact that these 2 guys can not penetrate some very AVERAGE defenders of this world.

Neither Simy nor Onauchu has what it takes to play modern-day football. They lack PACE!

Quote me anywhere...

Hello jaid,
Don't seem to understand out to submit application. No link to application page is provided. Do you have any idea on how to apply after receiving invite to apply. I look forward to a urgent reply from you. Thanks.
jaid23:

Hello ewatts, yes successful ASP applicants have been sent invitation email on 16th march. Unfortunately, i didn't get it too. I got the OKP invite but couldn't proceed to apply due to employer’s statement in which my present job isn't in line with my program.

Better days ahead.

Thanks so much for the information. Please, I wish to ask if, 'relevance of the program for the candidate' is same as motivation letters? And if 'relevance for employer' is what you mean by employer's statement?
jaid23:

*INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FORUM (ISF)*
ISF, we are moving✈️....

Dear *ISFites*,

*AFTER OKP INVITATION: WHAT NEXT*❓

First, Congratulations❗ on your *admission and your invitation to apply for OKP*. This however is the most critical time of your application, *as this stage determines everything*. You do not need to panic because even though it's competitive, you have what it takes to get the scholarship award. I will make this short but as detailed as possible.

*Requested documents*

1. *A copy of a valid passport:*
You must have provided this while applying for the admission. The copy you uploaded then; you can upload it again.

2. *A statement from the Government Authority,*
if applicable to your country: kindly note, *this is not applicable to applicants from Nigeria, so you can ignore it.*

3. *Admission letter from Your school.*
This was sent to you when you were admitted. Find it in your email. It is just to ensure you were admitted.

4. *Letter of motivation*,
answering the following questions: This letter of motivation should be *convincing and very compelling*. It should have a higher standard as compared to what you wrote to obtain admission.
And as requested, *it should address the questions listed.*

Citing myself as an example‍,
I obtained my employers statement from *IAR&T Ibadan* (A research Institute) I stated that I was a *Graduate Research Assistant*. And I stated all the community development project that the company engages in.

*Section A*

*Q1. What is the issue or problem you want to address in your country?*
Here, you can check for an *SDG* that resonates with your course and capitalize on it. In this section, I mentioned the *SDGs Zero hunger i.e. SDG 2* and *Quality Education i.e. SDG 4*. These were the points I highlighted on this section. I was realistic, I didn’t say *I was dreaming to feed the entire Nigeria (Unrealistic goal)* through my research, I focused on a community and mentioned that one community at a time, people will have access to cheap and healthy food.

*Q2. How will this course enable you to address this issue*

I believe you know what they expect you to write here. I will give you a tip. *Go into the school site and check their leading research in your field* and how you can channel this into your application. State that your *department is currently doing a project* and you’re sure it will help your country)? *Explain the relation of your course as a whole with the issues you mentioned above*.

*Q3. How will you address this issue with your position within your organization?*

Here, just *emphasize on your duties in the organization* and how you can achieve your dreams through it.

*Section B*
*i.e. An employer’s statement*

Your employers statement should be preferably obtained from a *School (tertiary institution)*, or a *Research Institute* so far, these are the places I know about but a friend of mine obtained hers from *Ministry of agriculture* so I believe that’s also good. Just ensure your organization is involved in any of the following, as stated in the employer’s statement format

Food & Nutrition Security
Water
Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights
Security
Rule of Law
Other themes are also allowed, but clearly state it. (You can check the website to confirm if the theme you have stated is part of OKP interests but preferably, find a way to fit your company’s work to the themes listed above.)

Ensure your employers statement is *stamped and signed* on every page. Also, remember to put *date for on every stamp page*.

*Section C*

*Plan of Activities:*
Here, you set achievable objectives for your company and how you intend to achieve them.
When I wrote mine, I included a lot of things I found on my school website and how they can actually be implemented in my company. I also added a few things to ensure it makes sense. *NB: The employer’s statement is very important*. Ensure the time of implementation is between *6months and 1 year max.*

Give utmost attention to your *motivation and EMPLOYERS STATEMENT*
.
No pressure guys, take your time….write, read it over and over and allow people to *check/review/vet* your essays. You can do this…. *Good luck guys* and I hope to see you in September ( *for Wageningen scholars*)

With Love,

I suggest inclusion of "Best Player of the Decade" category, to be awarded every 10 years. You know the next award is 2020. I feel that will encourage/reward consistency and unalloyed commitment to the national team. Players like John Obi Mikel, Vincent Enyeama, or Ahmed Musa could be nominated for this category.

Thanks.

Icon4s:
Firstly we need to agree on how or who to select as our committee's chairperson.

Also we need to agree on the awards categories.
Are we adopting exact same for last year?
Are we removing or adding a couple of new categories?
Are we maintaining the names to be immortalized? We last used Ogedengbe, Keshi, Okwaraji and Yekini.

Please we need quick responses from committee members as this project has a time line.

Elements of truth.

Powersurge:
You know people have spent their lives chasing shadows just because one motivational speaker told them they are not doing enough. They will be like ,"I started my transportation business with just a tyre", " I only sleep for 2 hours a day", "I started my water factory with just one sachet of pure water". Like that Niger Delta ex-millitant, "I started with just 3 hectares, in 2 years, I have 3000 hectares".

The original purpose of CV was to convey simple information about the applicant. You didn't go to school to study CV writing. Keep improving yourself, yes! But if you have done your part, never think it's because you didn't do enough that was why you didn't get it.

People that suffer the most are not those that get the best things in life. Do your best and leave the rest .

Hi Vickicious16, guess you are trying to choose between both courses. If that's the case, I hope this will be helpful to you:
There's is no superiority between the two courses, it depends on the career path you want to thread. Some people have this false belief that agricultural economics is inferior, probably because they think people will not see you as an (real) economist. Both courses are okay, it's just about what you envision for your self in the future.
Mind you if you choose to pursue economics, you would be called economists but if you choose to follow the agricultural economics path you will become agricultural economist.
Does the title matters? I don't think so.
