Jakarta: To start with those making such naive statements should be sacked and placed under investigation because it is obvious that they either don't know what their jobs entails, or corruption wouldn't allow them perform their duties. Also folks like you should be reoriented, and made to pass some IQ test, before being allowed to comment publicly.
But same corruption and the country being filled with people like you will not let that happen. Easier said than done. Someone made same mouth you are making and even said generating electricity is not a rocket science, as God will have it, he was made minister of power and in fact, electricity became a monumental failure right under his leadership till he left the office. Jakarta: Can you in in all honesty read what you wrote up there? As a POS agent a random person from no where will give my POS account details to somebody and I will receive 10m, which I will in turn give to the random person without he/she knowing anything about me and vice versa. The police will trace the funds to me and I will say I don't know the person that I gave the cash to, the police will then tell me Godbless you, go home and do your business in peace sorry for the disturb case close. If you like geotag, geofence, and georope POS to locations nothing will still come out of it no thanks to folks like you. This country is doomed with people like you being the majority. Sigh. Mexyz: Bros let me ask you a question Which POS agent would have 10-20M in cash to give to kidnappers in this our country of now that won't raise suspicion from even the POS operator? Are we really talking about those tattered looking kidnappers here or some well dressed individuals who would go to a POS operator to withdraw such huge amount of money. Like I said up there, there's ABSOLUTELY no financial transactions that happens in this country that our regulators can't track if they want to work. I agree with you boss. However, our financial institutions need to up their games, block every loophole that will give any reason for excuses. |

kiddaz: There's nothing there to read. Ignorance is not an excuse in matters of the law. If they can't arrest the last person who received the ransom funds then they themselves are involved. And again how many regular pos operators pay such huge amount running in millions of Naira at once You're even a suspect for trying to bring reason where there's none My brother read to understand. I am only explaining what the man said in the news. CBN needs to place a limit to amount agents can withdraw and even transfer inflow an agent can receive, if there should be any exception, then on all agent's terminals, they should make provision for some sort of verification Most of you think those small small girls you see under the umbrella doing pos own the business. Is just like how some of you see all those young boys at BDC and assume they own all the dollars they are trading |

3fighting: In a situation of bandit killing and taking ransom ignorant should not be an excuse. I don’t know why you are defending a failed system like Nigeria. We as a country and people have failed our forefathers I am not defending the system, I am only breaking down what the man said on the news. That said, ignorance of the law should not be an excuse. Companies issuing out pos devices to agents should invest in telling them the risks involved. CBN on her part should reduce the amount agents can do or it can be embedded on the terminal that for large withdrawals or transfer inflow, certain ID or verification means are required, they know what to do if they genuinely want to curb this. |
Crime › Re: Terrorists Using PoS To Collect Ransom – FG by Emeskhalifa(m): 10:26am On Dec 24, 2025 |
Jakarta: Stop displaying your ignorance and illiteracy publicly. First and foremost ask yourself how many POS agents can pay 10-30m at a go? What stops the government from putting such POS agents under surveillance? Because a bandit or kidnapper wouldn't pick a random POS agent and direct victims to pay such a huge amount into his/her account, knowing fully well that they can abscond with the funds. There must be a close link for such a transaction to occur. As anonymous as cryptocurrency, transactions are still being traced even after bridging from one network to another, let alone fiat that is centralised. Of what use are NIN and BVN if common fiat transfers that are centralised can not be traced, and linked to an agent? Did they say they could not trace the funds to the POS agent? They did trace the funds to pos agent only to realised that was the end point and could not go further. Like I said, lack of awareness is getting POS agents in serious problems. The good thing is, the CBN is coming up with mandatory geotagging of all POS devices, this will help though won't solve all the problem. My suggestion is fintech and banks should spend more resources on educating their agents on the risks involved in the business and not just about being eager to hand them terminals to start working. Also CBN on her part should limit the amount of transfer or withdrawal that can be carried out on POS devices |
