Health / How To Get Rid Of Diarrhra by Emmaline: 2:44pm On Sep 06, 2023
Diarrhea is a common and uncomfortable condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It can be caused by viral infections, bacterial infections, and food intolerances. These pathogens cause inflammation and irritation, leading to diarrhea and sometimes causing excess water production. Diarrhea symptoms include loose or watery stools, stomach cramps, bloating, and nausea. Dehydration can be dangerous if left untreated.

Treatment options for diarrhea include over-the-counter medications, natural remedies, and dietary changes. Over-the-counter medications like loperamide can reduce bowel movements and improve stool consistency, but they should be used cautiously as they can sometimes worsen symptoms. Natural remedies like probiotics and herbal teas can also alleviate diarrhea symptoms. Dietary changes, such as avoiding spicy or greasy foods and increasing fluid intake, can also help manage symptoms.

Prevention tips for diarrhea include regular hand washing with soap and warm water, avoiding contaminated food and water, and cooking meat thoroughly before eating. Regular hand hygiene, avoiding contaminated food and water, and staying hydrated are essential for maintaining digestive health. With the right knowledge and resources, we can effectively manage diarrhea and prevent it from disrupting our daily lives.

Food / How Long Does It Take To Boil An Egg? by Emmaline: 1:32pm On Aug 31, 2023

Boiling an egg may seem like a simple task, but getting it just right can be a challenge. The perfect boiled egg has a firm white and a creamy yolk, with no green ring around the edge. Achieving this requires precise timing and attention to detail.

Knowing how long it takes to boil an egg is not only important for achieving the perfect texture, but also for food safety. Undercooked eggs can harbor harmful bacteria, while overcooked eggs can become tough and rubbery.

The Perfect Boiled Egg
The perfect boiled egg is a culinary masterpiece that requires precision and timing. It should have a creamy yolk that is just set and a firm, but not rubbery, white. The yolk should be bright yellow with no gray or green ring around it. When you cut into the egg, the yolk should flow out smoothly and easily.

Getting the timing right is crucial to achieving the perfect boiled egg. Overcooking can result in a dry and rubbery texture, while undercooking can leave the egg raw in the center. It’s important to use a timer and follow the recommended boiling time for the type of egg you want to achieve.

Factors That Affect Boiling Time
The boiling time for an egg can vary depending on several factors. One of the most significant factors is the size of the egg. Larger eggs will take longer to cook than smaller ones. Additionally, altitude can affect boiling time because water boils at a lower temperature at higher altitudes. Finally, the starting temperature of the egg can also impact cooking time. Eggs that are refrigerated will take longer to cook than those that are at room temperature.

Another factor that can impact boiling time is the freshness of the egg. Fresh eggs have a thicker white and a rounder yolk, which can make them more difficult to peel. As eggs age, the white becomes thinner and the yolk becomes flatter, making them easier to peel. However, older eggs may require longer cooking times to fully set the yolk.

Boiling Time for Different Egg Types
When it comes to boiling eggs, timing is everything. The perfect boiled egg can be achieved by following the recommended boiling times for each type of egg. For a soft-boiled egg, the yolk should be runny and the white should be just set, which requires a boiling time of around 4–6 minutes. A medium-boiled egg should have a slightly firmer yolk and fully set white, which requires a boiling time of around 7–8 minutes. And for a hard-boiled egg, the yolk should be fully set and the white should be firm, which requires a boiling time of around 9–12 minutes.

It’s important to note that these boiling times can vary depending on factors such as egg size, altitude, and starting temperature. It may take some experimentation to find the perfect boiling time for your specific circumstances. However, following these general guidelines will give you a good starting point for achieving the perfect boiled egg.

Tips and Tricks
Adding salt to the water can help prevent the eggs from cracking while boiling. The salt also helps make it easier to peel the eggs afterward.

Using a timer is essential for getting the timing right. Different types of eggs require different boiling times, so it’s important to keep track of how long they have been boiling.

Conclusion
In conclusion, boiling eggs may seem like a simple task, but it requires attention to detail to achieve the perfect result. We have learned that the perfect boiled egg has a firm white and a creamy yolk, and that timing is crucial when it comes to achieving this result. We have also discussed the different factors that can affect boiling time, and provided a chart with recommended times for different types of eggs.

To boil the perfect egg, it’s important to add salt to the water, use a timer, and shock the eggs in cold water after boiling. With these tips and tricks, you can impress your friends and family with perfectly boiled eggs every time! So go ahead and give it a try, and let us know how it goes! @Earthlydiets[img][/img]

Health / 7 Foods That May Damage Your Teeth by Emmaline: 3:16pm On Jul 26, 2023
Smiling is a universal language that spreads joy and warmth, but what if the foods we consume daily are silently sabotaging our beautiful smiles? Our diet plays a vital role in shaping our dental health, and certain foods have been found to be potential culprits in damaging our teeth. In this eye-opening journey, we will explore the insidious foods that lurk in our pantries and fridge, jeopardizing our pearly whites. Brace yourself as we uncover the truth behind the 7 Foods That May Damage Your Teeth and how you can preserve your radiant smile.

1. Sugary Snacks and Sweets
Sugary drinks like soda and fruit juice may be refreshing, but they can wreak havoc on our teeth. The sugar in these drinks feeds the bacteria in our mouths, leading to tooth decay and cavities.
Visuals can help illustrate just how damaging sugary drinks can be to our teeth. When we consume sugary drinks, the sugar coats our teeth and provides a breeding ground for bacteria. Over time, this can lead to erosion of the enamel and even tooth loss.

2. Citrus Fruits and Juices
Did you know that your favorite citrus fruits, like lemons and oranges, can actually erode your tooth enamel? This is because they contain high levels of acid which can wear away at the protective layer of your teeth over time.
But don't worry, there are plenty of alternatives to citrus fruits that won't harm your teeth. Try snacking on crunchy veggies like carrots or celery, or sweet fruits like bananas or apples. These options will still give you the vitamins and nutrients you need, without damaging your teeth.

3. Sticky and Chewy Treats
Sticky foods like candy and dried fruit can be a major culprit in tooth decay. When we eat these types of foods, they stick to our teeth and stay there for longer periods of time. Bacteria in our mouths then feed on the sugars in these foods, producing acid that can erode our tooth enamel over time.
But don't worry, you don't have to give up snacking altogether! There are plenty of healthier options that won't damage your teeth. Try snacking on crunchy fruits and vegetables like apples and carrots, which can help clean your teeth as you eat them. Or, if you're craving something sweet, try a piece of sugar-free gum instead of candy.

4. Alcohol
Alcohol is a common beverage consumed around the world, but it can have negative effects on our oral health. One of the main issues with alcohol is that it causes dry mouth, which can increase the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. When we drink alcohol, our saliva production decreases, leaving our mouths dry and vulnerable to bacteria. In addition, alcohol can cause bad breath, which can be embarrassing and uncomfortable.
To minimize the damage caused by alcohol, it's important to drink plenty of water before and after consuming alcoholic beverages. This will help keep your mouth hydrated and reduce the risk of dry mouth. Chewing sugar-free gum can also help stimulate saliva production and freshen your breath. And, of course, moderation is key. Limiting your alcohol intake can help protect your oral health and overall well-being.

5. Ice
Did you know that chewing on ice can be just as damaging to your teeth as chewing on hard candy? The cold temperature and hardness of ice can cause your teeth to chip or crack, leading to costly dental work.
If you find yourself craving something to chew on, try switching to sugar-free gum. Not only will it satisfy your urge to chew, but it won't damage your teeth like ice or hard candy would.

6. Sports Drinks
Sports drinks are marketed as a way to improve athletic performance, but they can also harm our teeth. In fact, sports drinks can be just as damaging to our oral health as sugary drinks.
These drinks are often high in sugar and acid, which can erode our tooth enamel over time. This can lead to cavities, sensitivity, and other dental problems. So what can we do to protect our teeth?
One option is to choose sports drinks that are low in sugar and acid. Look for products that are labeled as 'sugar-free' or 'low-calorie.' Another option is to drink water instead of sports drinks. Water is the best choice for staying hydrated and maintaining good oral health.
According to a recent study, athletes who drank sports drinks more than five times a week had a higher risk of developing cavities than those who didn't. So it's important to be mindful of how often we consume these drinks and to take steps to protect our teeth.

7. Starchy Foods and Carbohydrates
Breads, chips, and crackers—these starchy delights have a sneaky way of sticking to our teeth, fueling the bacteria that contribute to plaque formation. Discover how carbs can affect your tooth health, and learn about simple dietary adjustments to mitigate their impact while still savoring your favorite carb-laden treats.

Conclusion
In conclusion, it's important to be mindful of the foods and drinks we consume in order to maintain good oral health. Sugary drinks like soda and fruit juice can harm our teeth, while citrus fruits and sticky foods can erode tooth enamel and cause decay. Alcohol and sports drinks can also have negative effects on our oral health. By making small changes to our diet and lifestyle, such as limiting our intake of these harmful foods and drinks, we can protect our teeth and prevent future dental problems.
To maintain good oral health, it's also important to practice good dental hygiene habits like brushing and flossing regularly, visiting the dentist for check-ups and cleanings, and avoiding bad habits like chewing on ice. By taking care of our teeth, we can not only improve our overall health but also feel more confident and comfortable with our smile.
Food / How Many Calories Are In An Egg? by Emmaline: 3:49pm On Jul 24, 2023
Eggs are a staple food in many households, but have you ever stopped to consider how many calories are in an egg? Knowing the calorie count of foods is essential for making informed dietary choices. Eggs are often included in breakfast meals, and starting your day with a high-calorie meal can set a precedent for overeating throughout the day.
In addition to being mindful of calorie intake, understanding the nutritional value of eggs is crucial. Eggs are a great source of protein, vitamins, and minerals, but they are also high in cholesterol. It's important to strike a balance between incorporating eggs into a healthy diet and not overdoing it.

Egg Nutrition Facts

Eggs are a great source of protein, providing all nine essential amino acids that our bodies need. In fact, one large egg contains about 6 grams of protein, making it an excellent choice for those looking to increase their protein intake.
In addition to protein, eggs also contain important vitamins and minerals such as vitamin D, vitamin B12, choline, and selenium. Vitamin D is important for bone health and immune function, while vitamin B12 is necessary for proper nerve function. Choline is important for brain development and function, and selenium is an antioxidant that helps protect against cell damage.

Calories in an Egg

A single large egg contains about 70 calories, making it a relatively low-calorie food choice. However, the calorie count can vary depending on how the egg is prepared.
For example, frying an egg in oil or butter can add significant calories, while boiling or poaching an egg keeps the calorie count lower. Compared to other common breakfast foods, such as a slice of toast with butter or a bowl of cereal with milk, an egg is generally a lower-calorie option.

Egg Preparation Methods

The way you prepare your egg can have a significant impact on its calorie count. For example, frying an egg in butter or oil will add extra calories to the dish. Instead, try poaching or boiling your egg for a lower-calorie option.
Another way to reduce the calorie count of your egg dish is to use fewer yolks. While the yolk contains many of the egg's nutrients, it also contains most of the fat and calories. Using just one yolk and several egg whites can create a healthier dish without sacrificing flavor.

Eggs in a Healthy Diet

Eggs are a versatile and nutritious food that can be part of a healthy diet. They are a great source of high-quality protein, vitamins, and minerals. One large egg contains about 6 grams of protein and only 70 calories.
Eggs can be prepared in many different ways, making them a great addition to any meal. Try adding hard-boiled eggs to your salad for an extra boost of protein, or make an omelet with vegetables for a filling and nutritious breakfast. Eggs can also be used as a substitute for meat in dishes like stir-fries and casseroles.

In conclusion, it is important to consider the number of calories in an egg when making dietary choices. A single large egg contains around 70-80 calories, which can add up quickly if you consume multiple eggs or pair them with high-calorie foods.
However, eggs are also a good source of protein and other nutrients, so they can be part of a healthy diet when consumed in moderation and prepared in a healthy way. Some healthier preparation methods include boiling, poaching, or scrambling eggs with non-stick cooking spray instead of butter or oil.

Health / **food For Fast: Foods You Can Eat While Fasting** by Emmaline: 1:44pm On Jul 18, 2023
Food For Fast: Foods You Can Eat While Fasting

Fasting has been practiced for centuries, with many different approaches and reasons behind it. Some people fast for religious or spiritual purposes, while others do it for health or weight loss benefits. But can fasting and food really go together? The answer is yes! While fasting typically involves abstaining from food for a certain period of time, there are still ways to consume food while adhering to a fasting diet.
One popular approach to fasting that allows for some food consumption is the intermittent fasting method. This involves cycling between periods of eating and fasting, with the goal of giving your body a break from constant digestion and allowing it to focus on other processes like repairing cells and burning fat. During the fasting periods, you can still consume certain foods that won't break your fast, such as bone broth, herbal tea, or small amounts of healthy fats like coconut oil. By incorporating these foods into your fasting routine, you can make the process more sustainable and enjoyable.

Foods to Eat While Fasting: The Basics

When it comes to fasting, it's important to choose foods that will keep you feeling full and energized. Nutrient-dense options like leafy greens, nuts, and lean proteins are great choices, as they provide the body with the necessary vitamins and minerals to keep you going throughout the day.
Another important factor to consider is the glycemic index of the foods you consume. Foods with a low glycemic index, such as sweet potatoes and quinoa, will help keep your blood sugar levels stable and prevent energy crashes.
Snack Attack: Healthy Foods for Fasting
When it comes to snacking during fasting, it's important to choose foods that will not only satiate your hunger but also provide you with the necessary nutrients to keep you going. Snacks that are high in protein and fiber are a great choice as they help keep you full for longer periods of time. Some examples of healthy snacks that fit the bill include roasted chickpeas, hard-boiled eggs, and almonds.
Another great option is hummus and veggies. Not only is this snack high in protein and fiber, but it's also low in calories and easy to prepare. Simply slice up some carrots, cucumbers, and bell peppers, and dip them in some homemade or store-bought hummus. Yum!
Hydration Station: Beverages for Fasting
Staying hydrated is crucial during fasting, as it helps to keep the body functioning properly and can reduce feelings of hunger. While water is always a great option, herbal tea, and black coffee can also be consumed in moderation while fasting. These beverages are low in calories and can help to curb cravings.
It's important to note that other types of beverages, such as juice or soda, should be avoided during fasting as they can spike blood sugar levels and break the fast. Additionally, it's recommended to limit caffeine consumption to avoid dehydration and potential negative effects on sleep.

Cheat Days and Fasting: How to Indulge Without Breaking the Rules

While fasting, it's important to stick to a healthy and balanced diet. However, we all have those days when we crave something indulgent. The good news is that there are ways to satisfy those cravings without breaking the rules of your fasting routine.
One great option is dark chocolate. It's rich in antioxidants and has been shown to have numerous health benefits. Another option is avocado, which is high in healthy fats and fiber. Both of these foods can be incorporated into your fasting routine in moderation, making them a guilt-free indulgence.

Fasting and Food: The Bottom Line

In conclusion, fasting can be a beneficial practice for both physical and mental health. It is important to remember to listen to your body and find a fasting routine that works for you. Whether it's intermittent fasting or longer fasts, incorporating nutrient-dense foods into your diet during your eating window can help ensure that you are getting the necessary nutrients your body needs.
Additionally, it's important to stay hydrated during fasting and choose beverages such as water, herbal tea, and black coffee. And while cheat days can be tempting, it's best to indulge in foods that still fit within the boundaries of the fasting diet, such as dark chocolate and avocado. @Earthlydiets

Health / How To Get Rid Of Hiccups by Emmaline: 2:47pm On Apr 04, 2023

Almost everyone has experienced hiccups, and when it comes it happens suddenly, and no matter how hard you try, they can be difficult to get rid of. Hiccups are sudden, involuntary contractions of the diaphragm muscle. While hiccups are generally harmless, they can be quite uncomfortable, embarrassing, and sometimes even painful, especially if they persist for a long time. In this article, we will provide you with some tips and tricks to get rid of hiccups and ways to prevent them from happening. Before that, let us talk about what will cause a hiccup.

What Causes Hiccups
Hiccups are caused by spasms or contractions of the diaphragm, which is the large muscle located between the chest and abdomen that helps with breathing. The diaphragm plays an important role in the breathing process, contracting and relaxing to create negative pressure in the chest, which allows air to flow into the lungs.

When the diaphragm contracts involuntarily, it causes a sudden intake of breath, which is then immediately cut off by the closure of the vocal cords, resulting in the “hic” sound of a hiccup. Many different factors can trigger these contractions of the diaphragm, including:

Eating too much too quickly
Drinking carbonated beverages or alcohol
Swallowing air while chewing gum or smoking
Emotional stress or excitement
Stress
Sudden changes in temperature
Certain medications or medical conditions

How to Get Rid of Hiccups

There are several ways to get rid of hiccups, including:

1. Holding your Breath

One of the most common and effective ways to get rid of hiccups is to hold your breath. Take a deep breath and hold it for as long as you can. Exhale slowly and repeat the process a few times until the hiccups stop.

2. Drinking water

Drinking a glass of water can help get rid of hiccups by stimulating the vagus nerve, which helps regulate the diaphragm muscle. Take small sips of water slowly or try drinking from the opposite side of the glass.

3. Using a paper Bag

Breathing in and out of a paper bag can help regulate the levels of carbon dioxide in the body and may help stop hiccups.

4. Gargling with ice water

Gargling with ice water can help stimulate the vagus nerve and may help stop hiccups.

5. Pulling your knees to your chest

Sitting down and pulling your knees to your chest can help relax the diaphragm muscle and may help stop hiccups.

6. Drinking water from the opposite side of the cup

This can be done by tilting your head, bending the cup, and drinking water.

7. Have an Orgasm

This unusual but proven adult method. There was a lady who had a hiccup and a thought came to her mind after trying some of the methods above to have an orgasm, the hiccups immediately stopped after she had an orgasm.

The name Tortilla is from Mexico. It's one of their recipes also there are Spanish tortillas which are also a recipe of their own made with potatoes.
Cabbage tortilla is a recipe made chiefly of cabbage. Its outcome so much looked like a Mexican or Spanish tortilla and that was why it was named after it. A plate of cabbage tortilla is a go-to if you are looking forward to making a change in your meal or to having a taste of something different. Cabbage is a leafy vegetable like every other in the Brassica family. It is very nutritious, very rich in vitamins C and K, and very high in dietary fiber. And if you want to lose some weight I guess you will have to make this dish more often.

Food / How To Make A Delicious Homemade Fried Rice by Emmaline: 1:35pm On Mar 14, 2023

One thing you should know about fried rice recipes is that the taste it gives to the rice is so incredible and they are very nutritious. I have never seen anyone who wouldn’t like to eat fried rice again after trying it the first time. It is insanely delicious and doesn’t take much time to put together.

Ingredients For Making Chicken Fried Rice
Here are the core ingredients we will be using in making today’s chicken fried rice

Basmati Rice
Spring Onion
Chicken (breast or thigh deboned)
Sweet corn
Vegetable Oil
Thyme
Cow Liver
Curry
Carrot
Bouillion cubes
Ginger
Garlic
Oregano
Onion
Green Peas( garden peas)
Salt
White Pepper
Long beans

Preparatory Step Before Making Fried Rice

Wash and dice the onion, carrots, green pepper, and long beans into small-medium sizes in different bowls. Also, wash the chicken and liver and set all aside.
Pour all the vegetables together ( carrot, green peas, green pepper, and long beans) into a big bowl and season it with a bit of thyme, curry powder, salt, garlic, and bouillion cubes mix it together and marinate for 30 minutes.
Wash the cow liver, cut it into bisects, boil it, fry, and set aside in a bowl.
Cut the boneless chicken into bisects and season it with bouillion cubes, garlic powder, thyme, curry powder, and some paprika. Mix together thoroughly and leave it to marinate for about 30 minutes or more because the longer the marination the tastier the chicken will be.
For the chicken broth, if you don’t have it already, get another chicken, and season it with salt, thyme, curry powder, bouillion cubes, oregano, and blended ginger & garlic paste. Stir all together nicely and cook for 15 minutes without adding water. Not adding water immediately will enable the season to incorporate into the chicken well and the chicken will sweat out its own moisture. After 15 minutes add a cup and half of water and leave it to cook until it is soft and tender.
If you don’t want to parboil, thoroughly wash your rice to avoid it sticking together.

Steps In Making A Homemade Fried Rice

In a medium pot, heat up some vegetable oil and then pour the thoroughly washed rice and chicken seasoning and fry the rice on low heat for 3 minutes (please do not leave the rice unattended to avoid it getting burnt).
After 3 minutes pour in the chicken broth and add some water according to the quantity of rice you’re using. The broth already has enough seasoning, give it a taste if there is a need to add salt please do or use a little bouillion cubes. Cover the pot and allow to cook till the rice is nice and tender.
In a big pan or skillet, pure in some vegetable oil, allow to heat, and fry the marinated diced chicken thigh for about 5-7 minutes or until it is fully cooked then transfer it to a dish.
With the same pan, add a little oil, pour in the ginger and garlic paste, and allow both to fry for a minute or two then add the chopped onion and fry together for two more minutes.
After the 2 minutes pour in the mixed marinated vegetables(carrot, sweetcorn, garden peas, etc.) and stir all together. If you want the veggies crunchy then fry for about 2 minutes and if not 4-5 minutes is good.
After 4-5 minutes, pour in the fried liver and chicken (the one that was formally marinated and fried). Then check for seasoning if it is perfect, and if not you can add it to your taste.
Final Step
Check your rice with a wooden spoon or spatula it should be perfectly ready. With your spatula scooped some rice and pour it into the big pan/skillet where the veggies are frying and stir together. Repeat so in batches till the rich is finished from the pot. Mix all well and gently while it’s frying.
Lastly, add the chopped spring onion and stir fry all well and your fried rice is ready
You can serve this with chicken, salad, jollof rice, etc.

Health / How to Take Control of Low Blood Sugar: Symptoms and Treatment by Emmaline: 3:23pm On Mar 13, 2023

Blood sugar is also known as glucose, and it comes from food. It serves as an important source of energy in the body. The main source of this energy in the body is found in carbohydrate foods such as rice, bread, yam, potatoes, fruit, vegetable, and milk. These are the main sources of sugar in the body.

After consumption, glucose is absorbed into the bloodstream. From the bloodstream, glucose is transported to every other body cell. This glucose is moved to other cells of the body and is broken down by a hormone called insulin. It is broken down to enable the body cells to use this glucose for energy.

Excess glucose consumed is stored in the liver and muscles. Sometimes it is converted into fat and used later as energy. When glucose level is reduced, the body cannot perform optimally.

People who are not on medications that increase insulin, always have enough glucose to maintain their blood sugar level. However, the liver can also release stored glucose when needed. But people on specific medication that increases insulin stand a high chance of having low blood sugar. I guess you’re wondering why, and I will tell you.

People who are on these medications are mostly diabetic patients. Naturally, they are diabetic because insulin production in their body is reduced and as a result, glucose breakdown is not very effective.

Taking drugs that increase insulin production becomes the best way for the body to break down glucose and regulate the glucose(sugar) level. This is because insulin breaks down glucose. But, when their body releases less glucose it could result in low blood sugar levels because they already have enough insulin produced, and are waiting to break down any form of glucose available.

At this point, treating low blood sugar becomes important to prevent other critical symptoms from developing.
