Can someone please advise me on how I can get into the stock market? Like, is there any reputable broker that you can recommend? And what is the minimum reasonable amount to start with? Thank you.

First state clearly your investment objective ie why you wish to invest and what you want to achieve by your investment in stocks.
I will advise you as a newcomer to have long-term in mind, you can trade after you gain some experience.
Read about stock investment and follow this thread religiously.
However, filter what you read and pick the ones that suit your investment objectives.

You can come over to investment one stockbroker.
Click on the link on my signature to open an account online.
It's free, no cash is needed. Your account will open in 72hrs max.
After the account is opened, you can deposit any amount to start investing.
You have the opportunity to invest in stocks from the comfort of your office,
home or anywhere you are in the world.

I'm available for further clarification. call/chat me up.

A business won't go under overnight, the signs will be there at least for 12 months.

There is a difference between making money from a stock whose business is losing money and fundamentals are shaky, and losing money from a stock whose business is making money and fundamentals are sound.

The first one is a trader's delight while the second one is an investor's delight.

The earlier we know the difference between price and value the better.

This is a deep truth about the market. Unfortunately, many folks that come here are coming with a mind to be an investor but most of them follow traders advice and they will jump in and out of stock at the slightest change in price without considering value.

Didn't even fill mandate form

That is the ultimate destination market operators and regulators are working towards, with the KYC request as directed by SEC which started about two years ago for existing shareholders. The aim is such that at the point of purchase of any company's shares, your details go straight to the registrars, and dividend collection becomes seamless.
Some operators like Coronation have implemented it.

Good day to you all, Please how do NIGERIA STOCK pay there dividend?
Do they credit all there shareholder through CSCS account automatically?

Dividends can be in cash or shares.

If it's cash, the amount due you less WHT will be credited to your mandated bank account directly.
For shares (bonus) it's credited to your cscs account directly.

ie your bank account is to money as cscs account is to shares

Do they now have an online presence?. There was no mail to that. Iam already planning on moving my investment from there. They took a good process over from Investment One and became incompetent with it. A whole outfit owned by GTB does not have an online presence nor a Mobile App.

My brother, the thing is still a big blow to me even till this moment. When I first got to know of the purchase of the mutual fund business from ione I was celebrating I even told my clients then that they are in for a big thing. To say the least, I was disappointed. Not that clients' money is not safe with them but the services are missed. I just hope they will wake up to the reality soonest that fund management is more than just having a big name.

Can you request the cscs statement from your broker

Sure and the service is free. Except if you visit the physical office and request a print out, some firm will charge you for the printing.

Hi guys, It's my first time buying stocks through Morgan capital.I did not get cscs trade alert or notification. Please is this the usual practice

Getting X-alert depends on network it has nothing to do with the broking firm. It's triggered automatically but sometimes network issues could cause a non delivery. So you may get but some other times it may be otherwise or get it the next day.

The surest way to be sure your stock was bought or sold is to demand for your cscs statement.

If such request is made before the third day after transaction, you see the stock on pending column but if after three days it would have settled in your account on the balance column.

You can also check your account on the trading platform and confirm from your transaction statement.

Good evening everyone.

Please, is there any app for trading shares in Nigeria?

Of course, there are apps. First, you need to open a stockbroking account with a stockbroker and get your CSCS account and CHN
Then you can download d app powered by the stockbroking firm.

You can open an account with investment one stockbroking firm. Then you can now download the app called ziing for trading.
You can as well use the web for trading.

Is long I left stanbic over 5 years now, can I find through my app or how is it done now?

Ordinarily, if you know your login details you should be able to login but many innovations have been done over the years.
hence I will advise you to click on the link on my signature, pick the money market fund and complete the online form.
Calling customer care can also help.

Current rate? You don't mean it

One thing we should note about MMFs is the fact that rates are daily valued and most times on the average you discover your gains are basically the same with little or no difference on the long run.
If you decide to be moving your funds at the slightest change in rate you may end up losing funds in the process handling cash.
Let's be prudent with our choices.

How do I calculate what I am supposed to get monthly?

calculate for each day and multiply by the number of days to get the required amount in this case 30 days

If capital invested is =C
Rate = 11.05%
1 day interest = D
Interest/annum = 0.1105C

D = 0.1105C/365
then interest for 30 days will be 30*D

So if we assume C=1million D will = 302.739
For 30 days = 30*302.739 = 9,082.19

Looks like it's inclusive of charges. Stanbic is effective yield, so gives a clearer picture

From the rate displayed If you remove the least charges as per my experience in the industry the net rate will be around 9.8%

Are you sure? Check very well, I hope you know that the rates displayed by GTCO are always gross and not net. This is always stated at the bottom of their rate displayed.

I noticed thr was no 10% withholding tax on wapco div .Is thr mistake on my payment

It's not a mistake. It happens sometimes and the conditions among others are:

1. When a dividend is paid out of the company's retained earnings
2. or paid out of profit exempted from tax.

ARM mmf is 10% as at today

It's a possibility. MMFs are daily valued hence rates are always in range across the industry and it also depends on what the fund manager displays whether gross or net rate.

Same here.

I withdrew a huge chunk of my funds and left the rest.

Although the processes don’t take long but then I’d prefer to do myself instead of having to email for almost everything.

Still on the lookout for a better one to pitch my tent

Come over to SFS fixed income fund.
Quarterly reinvestment of returns

Or stanbic MMF where you have monthly reinvestment of returns

Aiit then.. pls what percentage does the MMF and fixed income offer monthly? Btw I never knew the MMF and fixed income offer same flexibility until now..

All government-regulated investment is rated per annum but it's usually prorated such that you have a daily interest calculated on investors' holdings and accrued interest is paid/reinvested at the end of each quarter,

The flexibility for fixed income and MMF is the same as per redemption- easy entry and exit. The major difference is the underlying assets and the minimum holding period, for most fixed-income funds, it's six months holding period but SFS fixed income is peculiar, the holding period is also 30 days like MMF.

I assure you a smooth ride once you come on board MMF or Fixed income.

Ok.. The MMF is obviously what I would eventually opt in for due to its flexibility of withdrawing funds at anytime. Thanks!

Okay.
You can click the link on my signature to start the process.
Note if you go for the MMF, pick tier 3
That is the package without limitation.

Tier 1 is limited, your investment cannot be more than 200k and you cannot invest more than 20k at a time. It's just for financial inclusion to accommodate very low cadre of the financial pyramid

But for the tier3 no such limitations.

By the way the fixed income is as flexible as the MMF

Attention Investors in SFS Fixed Income Fund Using my Link.

Thank you for supporting my ministry.
Your patronage is really much appreciated and never taken for granted.

Please note that after you verify your BVN kindly generate your virtual account number.
This will enable you to have a personalized account number such that as you deposit into it, the money goes straight to your investment there is no waiting time.

You can also give your virtual/personalized account number to a 3rd party and once money is transferred into the account, it goes straight to your investment. This can be helpful if you don't want to spend the particular money you are expecting, in that case, you can just give your virtual account number to the source of the cash e.g a debtor or even your company. You don't even need any description. Once you use your virtual account, it's treated as your personal bank account only that the content always goes to your investment directly.

When generated, it's normally Wema or sterling bank account in most cases.

As usual, I'm always available for any further clarification if needed. See my contact details in my signature.
