GIST FROM WAKABOBO.COM very sad! The body of a 3-year-old boy who went missing has been found in a soakaway pit in Lagos. The boy, identified as Waris, was found dead in the cesspit of an uncompleted building on Simpson street in Ebute-Meta, Lagos. According to Punch, Waris was with his mother in their apartment before he went out to play. When his mother didn't find him in the compound moments later, she raised alarm and neighbours joined her in searching for the boy. The child who went missing at about 3.30pm was not found until around 7pm when one of his slippers was found beside the cesspit. Neighbours brought a ladder and searched inside the pit where Waris' body was found. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead. The father of the deceased said the cesspit was opened because workers wanted to work on it. He said: "His mother went to pick him in school and when they got home, his mother changed his clothes and he went out to play. They don’t normally open the cesspit, but yesterday (Wednesday) they wanted to work on it, so they opened it to bring out water that was inside." GIST FROM WAKABOBO.COM According to NAN, emotions were raised on Thursday as passers-by placed curses on an unknown mother, who dumped her dead baby in a refuse dump site in Lagos. The corpse of the baby girl was discovered at a dump site at Costain Bus-stop, along Apapa Road in Ebute Meta, Lagos State. The baby, dressed in a light-green unisex wear with a black cap, looked malnourished. The identity of the mother of the baby was not known as at the time of filing this report. Reacting, a sympathiser and a resident of Apapa Road told NAN correspondent at the spot where her corpse was dropped that he saw the baby still breathing when he was going to the office in the early hours of the day. The sympathiser, who pleaded anonymity, said he put a call through to the Lagos State emergency services numbers. This was to alert the officials of the relevant agency responsible for rescuing children from such an ugly situation to come and rescue her, he said. He expressed his disappointment that the responders could not rescue the child before her untimely death. “Imagine this kind of tragedy, if the baby had been rescued on time, she would not have died. “The Lagos State Emergency Unit has failed us,’’ he said. Adeolu Aderogba, a trader selling bread beside the scene, said she resumed her morning routine trading around 7.00 a.m. only to discover that the baby was dumped on the refuse. “I found the baby on the refuse when I came this morning. Whoever dumped the baby there must be a very wicked person,’’ she said. She said that babies were precious gifts from God and should be cared for, but some contemporary mothers seemed to be careless and morally bankrupt. Also, Mr Opeyemi Rasheed, a businessman, said that the baby ought to have been buried normally instead of being dumped on refuse. “A grave should have been dug instead of just depositing the baby by the roadside,’’ Rasheed said. Mr Steven Yusuf, a mechanic, who condemned the dumping of the remains of the baby girl at a waste bin said that he would report the incident at the Mainland Local Government Area. “This will enable the council to remove the corpse and give it a proper burial. “It is not good as the corpse is lying around. “It can lead to an outbreak of diseases for the inhabitants of the area,’’ Yusuf said. NAN reports that as at 10.30 a.m., the corpse was still lying on top of refuse pile-up while flies perched on it. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Lagos State Command, CSP Chike Oti, confirmed the incident and said that the Iponri Police Division had been notified about the baby’s corpse. Oti said that the police was taking action, but added that no arrest had been made in connection with the matter. GIST FROM WAKABOBO.VOM A former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the action of the police in Ekiti on Wednesday which led to use of tear-gas to disperse supporters of Governor Ayo Fayose and his party, PDP. He said he is appalled at the images coming out of Ekiti in the last few hours. Pictures circulated of Mr Fayose appearing injured after the tear gas was use on him and his supporters ahead of Saturday’s governorship election. Mr Abubakar, in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, said such actions can be described as assault on democracy and fall short of democratic best practices. He reminded the current administration that it came into being because the preceding PDP federal government ensured free and fair elections at all levels. Mr Abubakar stressed that anything that will put democracy in jeopardy in Ekiti or anywhere else in Nigeria should be stopped forthwith. “Having been a beneficiary of such propriety, it is incumbent on the federal government not to deprive others of the ladder it was provided by its predecessors. “Free, fair and credible elections are not a privilege. They are a right! The peaceful congregating of the good people of Ekiti State, be they members of the All Progressive Congress or the Peoples Democratic Party or of any other party, must be allowed by the federal government.” Mr Abubakar said it is not in the place of government to harass, intimidate, hound and humiliate political opponents in an election but to provide a level playing ground and guarantee the security of the electorate and the principal political actors in the election. “The immunity that a president enjoys under the constitution is the same immunity being enjoyed by a state government. Thus it is an aberration to democratic norms and practices in a federal system of government that one layer of government should muscle out another government on account of political differences. The democracy and fundamental human rights that Nigerians enjoy today was earned at a very high price.” He demanded Instructions be immediately given to all law enforcement bodies on the ground in Ekiti State to act in the best interest of Nigeria. He said those with powers over the security forces to be aware that the world is watching. “It is too late in the day for anyone to think they can put that genie back into the bottle,” he said. He, therefore, admonished the federal government to do everything within its powers to douse the tension being generated over the governorship election in Ekiti State. He said It is for this reason that (he) welcomes the call by the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, for the reactivation of the National Peace Committee as an instrument to stem the continued escalation of violence and killings in Nigeria. “Government should take a cue from what the Adamawa Peace Initiative (API) is doing to stem violence in many states of the North east,” he said. Also a former Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan, called for caution over the activities of security agencies deployed to Ekiti ahead of Saturday’s scheduled governorship election. In a statement issued on Wednesday by Mr Jonathan’s spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze, he tasked security personnel deployed to the state to act within the ambit of the laws of the land. He said the presence of armed security operatives is meant to give voters the confidence to come out on election day and vote for candidates of their choice, and not to intimidate them. “I am appealing to the security agencies deployed to Ekiti State for the governorship election to carry out their duties according to the laws of the land by securing the state in a manner that will enable a peaceful electoral process. “If it is true that the State Governor Mr. Ayodele Fayose was assaulted as reported in the media, my appeal is that such should not be allowed to happen again, since the governor’s constitutional immunity guarantees that he should be given official protection to freely conduct the business of governing the State.” The former president further charged the security agencies to not only strive to protect the laws of the land, but also seek to prevent any development that could negatively impact on the process of deepening the nation’s democracy. GIST FROM WAKABOBO.COM President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said he believed that the Igbo had the right to the Presidency and promised to back Igbo Presidency at “the |right time.” He, however, solicited the support of the Igbo for his re-election bid in 2019, saying next year’s general elections would determine the future of the country. Buhari, who spoke in Owerri, the Imo State capital, during a “mega rally” by his party, All Progressives Congress, South-East Zone, said that the elections were “make or mar” for the Igbo. Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Buhari pleaded with Ndigbo to support his reelection ambition in 2019. “The 2019 election is not about political parties; it is about the Igbo nation. You need a paradigm shift; it will determine the future of this country,” the President said. The APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, said four years was not enough for Buhari to deliver on all his campaign promises. Ostensibly referring to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Oshiomhole said: “for letter writers, we are happy that their evil plan of the third term did not work.” “I thank Senator Ken Nnamani who held the Senate and made sure that there is no third tenure. For 16 years, the PDP destroyed this country,” he said. According to him, judging by performance, Buhari deserves a second term in office. Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State assured Buhari that the South-East zone would vote massively for him in 2019. Meanwhile, the PDP has described APC’s Tuesday’s South-East zonal rally as a mockery on Buhari by the members of his party. The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said Nigerians had a comic relief as speaker after speaker made a mockery of the President by ascribing non-existent projects as well as those initiated by others, particularly, the PDP, to him in furtherance of APC’s alleged renewed attempt to beguile Nigerians ahead of 2019 general elections. According to him, the crowd at the APC rally was rented. Ologbondiyan said, “Even the rented crowd showed and expressed a vote of no confidence in the ill-performed President and his party, as they refused to brandish the now famished APC brooms or respond to the party’s slogan, a development that signposts the rejection of the APC in the zone and of course, in other parts of our nation. GIST FROM WAKABOBO.COM Fuji star, Wasiu Ayinde K1 de Ultimate, has said he is supporting President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection bid because he is fighting a group of Nigerians he described as ‘cabal’. K1, as he is fondly called by his fans, visited the President in Abuja last week, a visit that has generated mixed reactions. But he insists that the courage that Buhari had demonstrated in fighting corruption in very high places was unprecedented. He said, “I support President Buhari and want to carry it on my head because this is the fist time we see a person coming twice to fight the cabal that refuses to let this country move forward. The cabal that refuses to let the people of this nation making good of the nation for themselves and for other generations to come. For the first time we have someone who looks the cabal in the face and tells them enough is enough. He had tried this when he first came as a military ruler.” He said his relationship with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu might have reinforced the one he had with Buhari, but stressed that it was also based on the principle of effecting development. He added, “I supported Asiwaju too when he was in government. It was based on his focus and approach. I have asked myself why I m going in this direction. The answer is that any time I am not at shows or in a studio, and I interact with friends, we always discuss the development and happenings in society. One thing will lead to the other and I felt, why not seek an opportunity to push these discussions to the main political space, to the people who make decisions for all of us? And I discovered that when you give political office holders good advice, they do listen. “I remember my area in Okota, Lagos, then. And this takes me to why I seriously support Tinubu. There was no development in the area in the past. Everybody would just go there and buy land and start building. One day, council officials came and started demanding this and that. I said, ‘Take it easy with us. If you want to get something from us, you shouldn’t force it on us. Show us the way. Do something for us. There is no gutter here. No drainage and you come here to collect tenement rate. You can collect it only when you have done some things. This prompted the government to do the needful there. Today, the people of Okota have cultivated that habit and they see my relationship with government as an opportunity to push matters of the development of our area. So, I have now become the bridge between the government and the people.” On the pervasive killings in the country, for which many people are criticising Buhari, saying he was not doing enough to curb them, Wasiu argued that everybody was eager to see the killings stopped but he noted that the problems could not disappear as quickly as many wanted because they were rooted in history. But is the musician who broke into limelight in 1984, with his album, Tala ‘84 aware that some of his fans may not want to play the Buhari card like him? His answer is that he does. According to him, he is entitled to his belief and philosophy, just as others are to theirs. “I follow my mind,” he said, “The truth is that each and every one of us, either you participate actively or not, is a politician. If you are a man, and it is time to marry, you become a politician, because if you have more than a woman in your life, you have to play some politics in making a choice. As a man, born by a woman, once you get married, you have to play politics between the two. And when you begin to have children, and you now have a daughter, then, the politics becomes strong because you now have three women in your life. You need to show us where your love lies – your mother, wife or child.” At the chat held at Oyo Amala restaurant in Omole, Lagos, Wasiu said this was not the first time he would participate actively in politics because he believes in being part of those who want to bring development to society. “I have been doing that for ages. The reason I chose to do so in the past is the same reason I do now. When you see things happening around you and you do not talk, it means you are not there. You are not existing. Life is not just about making money. You can make money for yourself and spend it. It ends there. But it is when you are able to share it and ideas with others that you are really existing. That is when you can make society better. “But we all know that massive corruption is entrenched in the country. So, we need someone to lead in the fight against it. Most people want to go into government today because they can see opportunity, they see loopholes they can exploit. If you see them six months after, they are far richer. So, everybody wants to go there to get their own chop. They don’t go there to do what they ought to do to elevate the quality of life of the people, to add value.” Culled from>>>>https://wakabobo.com/i-support-buhari-because-he-is-fighting-cabal-wasiu-ayinde/ Cc; Lalasticlala, Mynd44

GIST FROM WAKABOBO.COM A househelp identified as Winfred Wangui, has dragged her former boss and Kiambu Senator Paul Kimani Njoroge, popularly known as Kimani Wamatangi to court in a child maintenance lawsuit. According to househelp, the Jubilee politician defiled her in his residence about 10 years ago, after which she got pregnant and gave birth to their daughter, Lisa Wanjiku, on April 23rd, 2007. “When I ask for child support, he erratically sends a sum of Sh3,000, which he sends after a long time and when he is pushed. I am jobless,” she said in court papers obtained by Standard Digital. According to the lady, the Senator has only seen their daughter twice; when she was two months old and towards the end of 2007, and has sent a total of Sh70,000 for her maintenance, refusing to consistently pay Sh75,000 monthly upkeep. “He came home to see my mother with Sh.20,000 and promised to pay for his daughter’s upkeep,” Winfred further states. “The plaintiff avers that the defendant has a legal obligation to maintain his daughter in the following manners: Sh.20,000 for school fees, an equal amount for house rent, Sh.15,000 in medical care fee and Sh.20,000 in clothing and miscellaneous expenses. The total expenses comes to Sh.75,000,” Winfred says in another sworn affidavit. Winfred disclosed that on May 28th the court ordered Wamatangi to take a DNA test to confirm paternity, but the senator refused to avail himself. “This is to confirm that Ms Winfred Wangui Kimani presented herself to the Government Chemist on 28th day of May at 9:30am for DNA sampling. However the sampling could not proceed as the other party, Paul Kimani Njoroge alias Wamatangi, had not availed himself by 3pm,” a letter from the Ministry of Health to the Children’s Court signed by government chemist AW Nderitu reads. The 32-year-old former househelp added that she is tired of fighting a losing battle, after several of her cases were dropped. She approached Kenya Human Rights Commission for help and was referred to Fida, who filed the new case at Kiambu Children’s Court on June 19th. However the Senator who spoke to newsmen, said; “I am not the biological father to the minor herein, I have never seen the minor and I do not know of her existence.” “I have never employed the plaintiff. Her allegations are malicious and unwarranted and only meant to embarrass and cause me injury and damage,” Wamatangi said in a sworn affidavit. He said that he noticed I had been working as a drycleaner for long, but had made little or no money. . That was how the conversation started. The pastor told me that there were young boys, not up to my age, who made it through the work they did, but also with the support of rituals. He said that I should face reality. The incident happened at a popular school known as Altitude International School located at Ebie Street in Ago, Okota area of Lagos. P.M.EXPRESS reports that the police at Gender Section of the Command arrested and charged the proprietress and three teachers before court for allegedly using cane as a corrective measure on the two kids in the school. The suspects were Alhaja Romota Abass, 61, Obialor Nkechika, 37, Wale Emmanuel, 26 and Robert Emmanuel, 36. It was gathered that Chief Enekwa, the father of the two pupils aged between 8 and 10, went to the police and reported that the teachers caned his children against his wish and he wanted them to be arrested and prosecuted. The police then went to the school, arrested the owner of the school, Mrs Abass, three other teachers and detained them at the Command for child abuse. They were later charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for the alleged offence. They pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Mr. Benson Emuerhi did not oppose their bail condition. Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O Sule-Amzat granted them bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum. They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 12 July, 2018. When P.M.EXPRESS contacted Chief Enekwa who resided at 34 Mukandasi Street in Ago, Okota, Lagos, he declined to make comments but claimed that he had withdrawn his children from the school and wanted justice. However, the incident had attracted so much reactions as the residents insisted that Chief Enekwa had a hidden agenda to blackmail the school management over the school fees of the victims.
