PoliticsEtcetera Live: Mr. President, Are You For Real? by Emperorone(op): 10:08am On Nov 21, 2015
Dear President Buhari, I will like to extend an invitation to you for a tour of down town, so that you can have a clear view of what the people who voted you into office feel about certain decision your government has taken so far, especially the decision to ban ‘I-pass-my- neighbour generator’.
Contrary to the picture your advisers have painted to you, the decision to ban ‘I-pass-my neighbour’ generators will only bring more hardship to the people down here who have never in any way, benefitted from the Nigerian government at any time. The little hope that your “change” mantra brought to the poor man is fast becoming another tale in the book of presidential lies.
So, for you to really understand the ramification of your decision, I urge you to come for a quick tour of down town. Don’t worry sir; it won’t cost you a thing. We will ensure that your visit is as comfortable as we can. Yes, we know you don’t take ‘shepe’ or ‘mishango’ or ‘Ghana root’ mixed with ‘draw-draw’. But don’t worry, we will have enough pure water available for you to cool your feet, wash your face and quench your thirst. It is true that the streets down here are littered with broken water pipes and heaps of smelly refuse dumps as a result of lack of government presence. But babu wahala, we will see to it that your danshiki doesn’t get so messed up. It will be nice to have you address the youths and explain to them why you have taken the decision to throw our streets into darkness and expose us to more terror from armed robbers.
Sir, have you considered the amount of small business operators that will be incapacitated by the ban you have imposed on ‘I-pass-my- neighbour generators’? Come sir, and see for yourself how many families will lose their source of livelihood simply because they cannot afford to purchase the bigger generators.
Sir, what becomes of the barber, the hair dresser, the recharge card seller whose business is run with ‘I-pass-my-neighbour’ generator? Have you considered the difference between N10, 000 generator and a N50, 000 generator? Do you think the people are happy using ‘I-pass-my-neighbour generators? Someone who earns as low as N15, 000 monthly, how do you expect him to buy and maintain a N50, 000 generator? You should also consider they have other needs.
I think this is a wrong move and one that will drive most self-employed youths into armed robbery and other illegal activities. And ‘I-pass-my-neighbour generator kills? Hmmmm Mr. President, I thought hunger and bad roads have killed more Nigerians than generators? How come you haven’t placed a ban on hunger and bad roads? Is this a part of the “change” we should expect from this regime? Is this one of the groundbreaking ideas given to you by the new minister for power? How do we achieve steady supply of electricity by banning smaller generators?
What I see here sir, is the government favouring the rich against the poor. The importers of bigger generator will no doubt see this as a welcome idea; that is if they didn’t lobby for it. This is one of the most insensitive decisions taken by any Nigerian government. Shouldn’t it be a general ban on generators?
Is it that punishing the poor has become a goal in itself for the government? Too many affluent Nigerians – and, in particular, members of the political elite – seem to have no sense of how much suffering is down here on the streets. Little wonder the governors woke up one morning and decided that they can no longer pay the N18, 000 minimum wage of workers. For these governors, what is really striking is the total disconnect between conventional wisdom and the reality of life – and death – for much of the nation. It is like there’s a badge of wickedness on the forehead of our politicians.
Sir, what we want is for you politicians to stop talking blithely about the importance of alleviating the sufferings of the masses and truly start looking at the way their less-fortunate citizens live.

PoliticsParis Attacks- What We Know. BBC by Emperorone(op): 4:24pm On Nov 14, 2015
Paris has suffered a night of deadly attacks, described by President Francois Hollande as "unprecedented". Shootings, bomb blasts and a hostage siege have left at least 127 people dead and some 180 wounded. At least 80 are in critical condition. Six places were targeted, almost simultaneously. France has declared a state of emergency, imposed border controls and deployed 1,500 extra troops. This is what we know so far. 21:20 (20:20 GMT) Rue Alibert attacks Le Carillon The attacks erupted at about 21:20 in popular nightlife spots in the 10th district (arrondissement) of the capital, not far from the Place de la Republique. At about the same time, an explosion was heard outside the Stade de France, where the French and German national football teams were playing, before a capacity crowd (see below). First reports of gunfire came from Le Carillon bar, at 18 rue Alibert. Witnesses initially thought a firecracker had gone off until people realised that a masked man was opening fire with a semi- automatic gun. One witness described a man getting out of a car with a heavy calibre weapon. He was not wearing any mask. "People dropped to the ground. We put a table over our heads to protect us," said Ben Grant, who was with his wife at the back of the bar. Le Petit Cambodge Witnesses then describe how the man then crossed the road and turned his gun on a restaurant, Le Petit Cambodge (Little Cambodia). The gunman killed at least 12 people in his attack on the bar and restaurant. Minutes later, a shooting was reported not far away, near the popular Canal St Martin. Reports said a car was left riddled with bullets and a motorbike abandoned on the ground. La Casa Nostra pizzeria Then came an attack on diners a few streets south of rue Alibert, on the terrace of La Casa Nostra pizzeria, in rue de la Fontaine au Roi. Witnesses described seeing a man firing a machine-gun. "There were at least five bodies around me and blood everywhere," a man in his 30s told French media. 21:30 Stade de France On the northern fringe of Paris, France were playing Germany at the Stade de France stadium, in an international football friendly seen as a big game ahead of the Euro 2016 football championships in France. The game was being broadcast on TF1, one of the main national TV channels. President Hollande was there. About half an hour after kick-off, the first of three explosions was heard. They were audible within the stadium - after the second one the president was immediately rushed to safety. It was later established that three suicide bombers had blown themselves up at two fast food outlets and a brasserie near the stadium. It is the first time France has experienced such bombings, French media say. At one point, a section of the crowd spilled on to the pitch in panic. After the match, which France won 2-0, players watched events unfold on monitors in the tunnel. 21:50 Rue de Charonne attack The next reports of shootings came to the south of the first restaurant attacks, at La Belle Equipe bar in the rue de Charonne in the 11th district. Two men were seen opening fire, spraying bullets at the terrace of the cafe. "It lasted at least three minutes," one witness said. "Then they got back in their car and headed towards Charonne station." There were appalling scenes outside the bar, with bodies all over the floor. One women covered in blood was hugged by a passer-by as emergency services arrived to help the wounded. At least 19 people died in the shooting. 22:00 Bataclan concert venue The deadliest attack of the night came at a well- known concert venue in Boulevard Voltaire in the 11th district, where Californian rock group Eagles of Death Metal was playing. The 1,500-seat Bataclan hall was sold out. Witnesses said four attackers stormed inside from the back, and fired several bursts at the crowd, with Kalashnikov assault rifles. Later, French media reported that at least 82 people had died there. One of the attackers was said to have shouted "God is great" in Arabic. One witness heard a gunman blaming President Hollande for intervening in Syria. It was the first clear evidence that Paris was once again being targeted by Islamists. "We thought it was fireworks but finally there were men shooting in all directions. So we all lay on the floor and started crawling towards the stage," one woman said. A hostage crisis had now begun. By now, President Hollande was in crisis talks with Prime Minister Manuel Valls as well as Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve. Shortly before midnight he gave a live address on national TV announcing a state of emergency throughout France and a tightening of border controls. The order was then given to send elite security forces into the concert hall. The siege ended when three of the gunmen blew themselves up with suicide belts and the fourth was shot dead. After fleeing, Julien Pearce, a Europe 1 radio reporter who witnessed the carnage, said terrified fans had tried to reach the stage by clambering over others cowering on the floor, but the attackers had gunned them down. Pearce said he saw one gunman clearly - a calm youth, without any mask, and a blank expression on his face. Pearce and others managed to flee while the gunmen were reloading their Kalashnikovs. Other attacks were reported during the evening, including one on the Boulevard de Beaumarchais close to the Bastille. Paris gunmen Police say there were eight attackers and all of them died: Three blew themselves up and a fourth was shot by police at the Bataclan venue at the end of the concert siege Another blew himself up a short distance away from the concert hall on the Boulevard Voltaire Three more blew themselves up at eating places near the Stade de France But the search for potential accomplices continues. The string of gun and bomb attacks was clearly co-ordinated and involved more men than the three who took part in the January attacks , which claimed the lives of 18 people in Paris. The city has issued an emergency hotline for information: 0800 40 60 05. Chronology 21:20 - First explosion near Stade de France 21:25 - Shooting at Le Carillon bar and Le Petit Cambodge restaurant, rue Bichat 21:29 - More shooting in same area, avenue de la Republique 21:30 - Second explosion near Stade de France 21:38 - Shooting at La Belle Equipe bar, rue de Charonne 21:43 - Explosion at boulevard Voltaire, near Bataclan concert hall 21:49 - Shooting at Bataclan, then explosions 21:53 - Third explosion at Stade de France 22:00 - Shooting at boulevard Beaumarchais, near Bataclan

PoliticsRevamp P’harcourt, Abuja, Lagos Airports, APC Tells Amaechi by Emperorone(op): 7:13am On Nov 13, 2015
Chukwudi Akasike

BARELY 24 hours after former governor Rotimi
Amaechi was inaugurated as minister, the
Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives
Congress on Thursday set an agenda for him to
revamp the Port Harcourt International Airport
perceived to be one of the worst airports in the
world.
The state APC congratulated the former
governor and also urged him to begin the
immediate rehabilitation of the Nnamdi Azikiwe
International Airport, Abuja, and the Murtala
Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The state APC, in a statement signed by its
Chairman, Dr. Davies Ikanya, recalled that while
the international airport in Abuja had been rated
the seventh worst in Africa, the one in Lagos
was rated the 10th worst airport in Africa.
Explaining that the current conditions of the
three airports were unacceptable, the party
expressed the confidence that Amaechi would
use his wealth of experience to correct the
anomaly imposed on Nigerians by the
immediate past administration of Dr. Goodluck
Jonathan.
“This is not acceptable to us and we wish that
Amaechi quickly corrects this shameful anomaly
imposed on us by the visionless administration
of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and his misguided
Peoples Democratic Party.
“We heartily congratulate our leader on his
meritorious appointment as the Minister of
Transport while at the same time we extend our
heartfelt gratitude to President Muhammadu
Buhari for his confidence in Amaechi.
“We wish to assure Mr. President and all
Nigerians that Amaechi, who has a track record
of performance, will deliver even beyond
expectations if given the necessary
cooperation,” the state APC stressed.
It noted that the former governor of River State
possessed a track record of performance and
expressed gratitude to President Buhari for
appointing Amaechi as a minister.
The party pointed out that Amaechi was coming
into the transport ministry at a time when the
railway system in the country remained
moribund with the maritime sector in a chaotic
state.
It said, “Amaechi is coming in as the transport
minister at a time when the railway system is
moribund and the maritime sector is in a chaotic
state.
“We know what Amaechi is made of and we
expect him not only to turn around the fortunes
of the railway system, but also to do the same
to the maritime sector.”
The party appealed to all Rivers people and
Nigerians generally to accord Amaechi the
support and prayers he needed to enable him to
take the sector to the next level.
It also congratulated the 35 other ministers and
called on Nigerians to cooperate with them so
that the citizenry could feel the positive change
promised by the APC.

PoliticsDon’t Accept Fayose’s Rams, Imams Tell Muslims by Emperorone(op): 2:28pm On Sep 16, 2015
The League of Imams and Alfas in Ekiti has ordered Muslims in the state not to collect rams and other food items for Sallah celebration, if presented to them in any form by the state government. The League reached the decision at a meeting held on Tuesday at Ansar-u-Deen Society Central Mosque Odo-Otu, Ado Ekiti, where it reviewed the “deliberate marginalisation of Muslim members in Ekiti State Government’s political appointment.” The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and National Council of Muslim Youth Organisation, Ekiti State, had respectively issued statements condemning Governor Ayodele Fayose for neglecting Muslims in appointments. The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, had also described “Fayose’s treatment of Muslims in terms of appointment in the state” as “the worst since the state was created.” The party claimed Ekiti Muslims were not given up to one per cent of the appointments made by Fayose’s administration. In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the League said, “Based on the above, the League, Ekiti State Council, hereby resolved that no Muslim in the state should collect rams and other food items, if presented to them in any form by the government.” The communiqué was signed by the state’s Assistant Secretary, League of Imams and Alfas, Alhaji Quadri Oguntuase; a Representative of Ansar-u-Deen Missioner, Fatai Jimoh and Chief Imam, Ilogbo, Imam Abdul Rasak. It added, “Any Muslim that collects such rams or food items under any guise has taken Haram (Unlawful) and the punishment of the Almighty Allah awaits the person. (Quran 71 verse 28).” “This order stands until the government accedes to our demands as earlier published.” Fayose had distributed chickens and rice to indigenes during the last Christmas celebration in the state as part of his stomach infrastructure policy.

PoliticsAPC Leaders Angry As Buhari Appoints More Northerners- Punch by Emperorone(op): 1:17am On Aug 28, 2015
THERE was an outrage in the ruling All
Progressives Congress on Thursday over the
announcement of new appointments by President
Muhammadu Buhari.
Leaders of the APC, who spoke to The PUNCH ,
complained that the appointments tilted in favour
of the North and said the party must move fast
to cope with the backlash of expected rumblings
in the polity.
“The President does not consult before making
most of these appointments and I can tell you
that Nigerians are going to term the party and
the President as a northern party and the
President of Northern Nigeria,” a leader of the
party said to one of our correspondents late on
Tuesday.
Buhari, according to a statement by his Special
Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity,
Mr. Femi Adesina, on Thursday approved the
appointment of Babachir David Lawal from
Adamawa State as the Secretary to the
Government of the Federation.
He also named Mr. Abba Kyari from Borno state
as his Chief of Staff.
Other appointments approved by the President,
according to the statement, are those of Col.
Hameed Ibrahim Ali (retd.) as the new
Comptroller-General, Nigerian Customs Service;
Mr. Kure Martin Abeshi, Comptroller-General,
Nigerian Immigration Service; Senator Ita Enang,
Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly
Matters (Senate); and Suleiman Kawu as SSA on
National Assembly Matters (House of
Representatives).
Both Ali and Kawu are from Kano State and
Abeshi is from Nasarawa. Enang from Akwa
Ibom State is the only one from the south geo-
political zone.
Adesina said all the appointments would take
immediate effect.
Three top national officers of the APC, who
spoke with one of our correspondents on
condition of anonymity shortly after the
announcements were made, wondered why the
President was appointing only northerners to
positions to the detriment of the southerners.
They said that the President was already giving
the party a bad name among Nigerians. They
said they had hoped that he would learn from
the criticisms that trailed his first appointments
where more northerners were appointed into
sensitive positions than southerners.
Before the latest appointments, the President
had also named only one southerner among the
initial nine appointments he made.
The northerners in the first appointments are the
Director-General of the State Services, Lawal
Daura; Acting Chairman of the Independent
National Electoral Commission, Mrs. Amina
Zakari; the Director, Department of Petroleum
Resources, Mr. Mordecai Danteni Baba Ladan;
and the Accountant-General of the Federation,
Alhaji Ahmed Idris.
Also in the first appointments are the President’s
Chief Security Officer, Abdulrahman Mani; State
Chief of Protocol, Mallam Abdullahi Kazaure;
Aide- De-Camp, Lt. Col. Muhammed Abubakar;
and the Senior Special Assistant on Media and
Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.
Only the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity,
Mr. Femi Adesina, hailed from Osun Staten in the
South-West.
Another APC leader said the party must devise a
way of managing the backlash that would follow
the appointments.
He said, “Though the President did not get much
votes from the South-East but we must not
neglect the zone in key appointments.
“Even the South-West that supported and was
the backbone of the party, what are we giving
the zone in appreciation? We need to be careful
before the party is destroyed.”
It was gathered that some leaders of the party
were already thinking of having an enlarged
meeting where the appointments would be
reviewed.
But another senior member of the APC said such
a meeting, if it would hold at all, would have to
wait until the party holds its Kogi State
governorship primary on Saturday.
A member of the state executive of APC in a
South-West state, said the appointments were
lopsided against the South.
He said, “When President Olusegun Obasanjo
took over, you saw balance in appointments as
he reflected federal character. President
Goodluck Jonathan too reflected a semblance of
balance. Buhari is pursuing a northern agenda.
This is the same agenda pursued by the late Sir
Ahmadu Bello, when everything was pro-North.
Buhari made six appointments at a go and five of
them are northerners.”
The Speaker of one of the Houses of Assembly
in the South-West, who spoke on condition of
anonymity, also described the new appointments
as shocking.
The Speaker, who is a member of the APC, said,
“This is shocking. It doesn’t speak well at all.
The South-West has been completely neglected
and the South-East too. The South-West was
neglected during the President Goodluck
Jonathan years. The South-West must rise up
against this.”
Similarly, an APC chairman in another South-
West state, who also spoke on condition of
anonymity, said the list of the new appointees
had left him perplexed.
The chairman said, “This is not good at all. Why
should he choose everybody from the North? I
am sure he did not confide in anybody before
drawing up the list and making the
announcement. We will continue to watch. It is
condemnable.”
In the same vein, an APC member of the House
of Representatives, said the leaders of the party
in the South-West were shocked by Buhari’s
latest appointments.
“He didn’t tell anybody. We are all shocked. The
real shocker would be when he is going to
appoint ministers. The only thing that would save
us is that he is mandated constitutionally to
choose from all states, otherwise, he would have
chosen all the ministers too from the North,” the
female member of parliament said.
The new SGF graduated from the Ahmadu Bello
University, Zaria, in 1979 with a Bachelor of
Engineering degree and worked with the Delta
Steel Company, Aladja, Nigerian External
Telecommunications Limited and Data Sciences
Limited before establishing his own ICT and
Telecommunications consulting firm in 1990.
Kyari, the new Chief of Staff to the President,
holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the
University of Cambridge and the University of
Warwick in Law and Sociology.
The new Comptroller-General of Customs, holds
Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Criminology.
He was military administrator of Kaduna State
from 1996 to 1998.

PoliticsFashola Spent N139m On Two Boreholes- LASG by Emperorone(op): 1:53pm On Aug 24, 2015
The immediate past Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, spent N139m on the drilling of two boreholes at the Lagos House, Ikeja. The project was completed by Deux Projects Limited according to a report published by the state government The report, which was part of the awarded contracts by the Lagos State Tenders Board in 2013, was seen on the website of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency. In the same year, N640m was spent by the Fashola administration for the reconstruction of a car park and other associated works at the Lagos House, Marina. The report stated that the N640m contract was given to Julius Berger Plc as part of phase two of the reconstruction of Lagos House where Fashola lived during his eight years in government. In the same year, N300m was spent on the relocation of cables belonging to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. The contract was awarded to Deux Projects Limited. According to the report, the former governor also spent N175m to replace the railings of a pedestrian bridge on Carter Bridge from Ido to Idumota with concrete railings. The contract was awarded to A Abicon Engineering Limited. According to the report, N220m was spent on the facility management of the Lagos State University College of Medicine. The contract was awarded to Deux Projects Limited. The former governor, according to the report, spent N619m on surface repair on Ajara-Erekiti- Iragon-Ikoga Road in Badagry Local Government. According to the report, Fashola spent N1.2bn on the construction of an unidentified multi-storey building in Onikan, Lagos. The former governor was also said to have spent N1.6bn on the construction of a 48-bedroom hotel at Lagos State VIP Chalets, Badagry. About N510m was spent on the remodelling and equipping of the official residence of the state’s Chief Judge at 4 Thompson Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos, according to the report. About N165m was spent on the construction of an 18-classroom block at Ajara Senior Grammar School, Ajara Badagry. The same amount was also spent on an 18-block classroom at Community Senior/Junior Secondary School, Bayeku, Ikorodu. Fashola had recently come under fire for spending N78.3m of taxpayers’ money on his website, tundefashola.com . Although the figures were published on the official website of the state government, the former governor said all the monies were duly approved by the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency. Fashola, in a six-page letter, stated that the website of the state government was authentic. He, however, warned against attempt by some persons to tarnish his good image and misrepresent his budgetary spending to the members of the public. All attempts to speak with Fashola’s spokesperson, Hakeem Bello, proved abortive as he did not pick calls neither did he respond to a text message sent to his telephone.

PoliticsBuhari Orders Probe On How Isis Leader Got Nigerian Visa - Vanguard by Emperorone(op):
By Ben Agande, Abuja
The Nigerian government has ordered a full
investigation into how a wanted terrorist was
granted Nigerian Visa in Lebanon to visit the
country.
An official of the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign
affairs told Vanguard in Abuja, Tuesday evening,
that President Muhammadu Buhari has directed
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to investigate the
circumstances surrounding the issuance of Visa
to the wanted terrorist who has been on the
wanted list of several governments.
It would be recalled that a radical Muslim cleric,
Ahmad al-Assir was arrested by Lebanese
authorities as he attempted to leave Lebanon to
Nigeria via Cairo.
He was said to have arrested while attempting to
travel with a fake Palestinian passport with a
valid Nigerian Visa at the Beirut’s Rafik Hariri
International Airport early Saturday, August 15,
2015 in Lebanon.
According to the official of the ministry of
foreign affairs who spoke with Vanguard on the
condition of anonymity, the ministry of foreign
affairs has been directed to explain how the
wanted terrorist was able to get Nigerian Visa.
“The reported arrest of the wanted terrorist is a
huge embarrassment to Nigeria and the
President has directed that the matter should be
investigated. The embassy in Lebanon has been
directed to furnish the ministry with details of
how the man got the visa. The National
Intelligence Agency Officer has been directed to
provide details of what happened” the officer
said.

PoliticsPolice Arrests Aregbesola's Aid Over Girlfriends Murder- Punch by Emperorone(op): 6:55pm On Aug 18, 2015
A Special Adviser to Osun State Governor, Mr Bode Olugbore, has been arrested by the police over the death of his girlfriend, Miss Kemi Arobieke.

Our correspondent gathered that Kemi, a graduate of the Lagos State University, visited Bode in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Thursday, August 6, all the way from Lagos and promised to return on Saturday.

The deceased’s elder brother, Ayo, who confirmed the death of his sister to our correspondent on the telephone on Tuesday, said Kemi had known Olugbore for about four years, but the family did not know about their relationship.

The brother of the deceased said he, Kemi and Bode were members of the same church in Lagos adding that her sister said the suspect had been separated from his wife.

He said, “My sister travelled to Osogbo and she was supposed to return to Lagos on Saturday, but we got a call from the police that she was involved in an accident and it was very serious.

“We got to Osogbo but the police prevented us from seeing her only to be told that she was electrocuted. She was said to have been electrocuted by a Binatone fan, but it is unbelievable.

“The current in a fan is not enough to kill, except one has direct contact with a live wire. The mark on her body suggests something contrary.”

He said he saw Bode at the State Criminal Investigation Department on two occasions he went to the place.

The deceased’s brother said the police had done the autopsy, but the family was still waiting for the police to give them the result.

He said, ” We were told that Bode’s family will have to be present before they would give us the result.”

The governor’s media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, when contacted declined to comment on the matter.

He said, ” It’s a police matter. You can get accurate information about whatever happened from the police.”

Also, efforts to speak to the Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Folasade Odoro, proved abortive on the matter as calls put across to her telephone were picked but she refused to talk.

After many calls to her other telephone, a male voice answered the call and told our correspondent that the PPRO was not in the office but left her phone for charging. He promised that the PPRO would call back when she returned, but she did not.

Also, a text message sent to inquire about the case was not replied to as of the time of filing this report.

his stance is clear
probe should not substitute governance, Buhari should kickstart governance.

probes doesn't have end, it is a continuous process, from time to time, there will be need to probe processes, but the masses are yearning for dividends of democracy

RomanceRe: How Do You Tell Your "Friend With Benefit" That She Has A Smelly Vagina? by Emperorone(m): 11:47pm On Aug 16, 2015
Vaginal odor may limit sexual activity in a relationship; the woman feels uncomfortable, and the man becomes a little distant. However, the vagina has a distinct smell that is not a problem. Each girl has a particular vaginal smell; it is natural. Even when you notice a recent difference in its smell, it is not necessarily an infection. That change may be linked to a specific moment of your menstrual cycle because the smell of your vagina can vary depending on the time of the cycle. A healthy vagina gives off a discrete odor at one time or another. It is normal that it has a certain odor sometimes. Whether this natural smell is neutral or not, it is a matter of personal judgment. In fact, some women notice their odor when there is no notable odor detected by their partners. However, if the odor changes and becomes strongly unpleasant (repugnant fishy vaginal odor), this change deserves attention because it is perhaps a sign of a serious vaginal infection. Left untreated, this condition may cause not only physiologic problems but also emotional (stress) and social problems (the person feels uncomfortable thinking the odor is detected by others). What to do when you have vaginal odor? Many women believe that vaginal odor are the result of a lack of personal hygiene and wash excessively their vagina unaware that they worsen the problem. While poor genital hygiene can be the cause, excessive washing is not the solution. Very often, women hampered by a strong vaginal odor should not begin to wash themselves intensively. That does not help at all. The first thing to do should be restoring the acidity and the balance of the vaginal flora naturally. That restoration cannot be done by excessive antibiotic intake; it decreases your immune system. How to restore the balance of the vaginal flora? The vaginal flora consists of a large number of microaerophilic bacteria. Among them, lactobacilli are considered the principal ones for their role in protecting the vagina. These micro- organisms are primarily responsible for protective acidity of the vagina. Wash the vagina too often increases its pH, which disrupts the vaginal flora and can cause vaginal infections and particularly unpleasant odors. That is, do not rush to wash your vaginal excessively when you suffer from vaginal health issues. If the vaginal flora is disrupted, pathogenic bacteria proliferate, resulting in bacterial vaginosis. This type of proliferation tends to increase the number of bacteria normally present in the vagina causing unpleasant fishy vaginal odor. What are the causes of vaginal odor? Besides excessive washing, douching, tight clothes and certain chemicals (scented body washes, antibacterial soap, etc) can cause vaginal infection or yeast infections . Certain contraceptives and foreign body in vagina can provoke vaginal odor and other major health issues. Vaginal and anal intercourse alternation during the same session can cause vaginal infection resulting in vaginal odor. Though rare, diet can affect the smell of your vagina. In some cases of vaginal odor, eating a healthy diet (eating fruit and vegetables abundantly) can remediate the condition without any medical treatment Useful tips Wear clean tampons and change them regularlys Avoid Douching, it is not necessary; it can damage or destroy the normal acidity of the vagina resulting in vaginal problems. If you suffer from ant type of vaginal infection, it is recommended to avoid wearing tight underwear and pants so that the vagina can breathe easier. Tight clothes can irritate the vagina and cause or increase vaginal odor. Wearing cotton panties is also important. If a vaginal infection persists despite treatment, you need to see a doctor because it could be a sign of Cancer of the cervix or vagina, Bacterial Vaginosis, Chlamydia, Genital Herpes , Gonorrhea, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), Vaginitis, Yeast Infection , etc. For women, after intercourse, it is important to go urinate. Urination after sex helps to remove any possible bacteria that may be outside or inside the vaginal canal that would go up in the urethra. Because once present, these microbes tend to go up into the bladder, and can cause recurrent urinary infections. Urination causes a cleansing effect, forcing the microbes outside. Is there a natural treatment for vaginal odor? Yes, there are herbal remedies formulated to be total feminine products. Not only are they designed to attack the root causes of your current bacterial vaginosis but also their recurrence. Naturally, they balance the flora of your vagina. The ingredients in these remedies can assist in the re- establishment of the natural lactobacilli in your vagina and significantly boost your immune system to fight your existing condition and its recurrence.
