In 500 years of history under the Ottomans, Stoning occurred just once. In 1,000 years of Islamic history, 3 times.

Let us stop being apologetic about things. It mainly serves as a deterrent but almost impossible to implement.
It is not about this.

Just that some Muslims simply do not believe in the idea of sharia. They think it was invented by human. That's just so sad. Some of them had to be told by non-Muslims the importance of sharia. Like that of inheritance for instance, a non-Muslim had to appreciate and teach a Muslim lady who opposed Islamic version of inheritance. She said it makes sense and better.

Didi not know Sheik Hamza Yusuf's father later embraced Islam before he passed. I didnt even know he passed. He was just giving khutba when ISIS emerged in 2014 and his fther was like "is this all about your religion you have been preachng to me". Sheikh was perplexed after years of giving him dawah. Alhamdulilah, Allah opened his chest before his soul was taken.

My father, David Hanson, passed away at 8:00 p.m. on the 16th of April, 2016 at the age of 89. He left the world in a good state. He was born into great wealth and advantage, and was afforded an excellent education. At the age of 17, he volunteered to join the Air Force at the height of World War II and served for four years.
He was a good father, and the single most well-read person in the Western canon I have ever met. The Huntington Library gave him a small cubicle, where he carried on his work on Elizabethan manuscripts. My last conversations with him were about the Liberal Arts, of which he was a life-long student. He lived with me on and off for the last few years and remained independent until the last few weeks of his life.
During his stay with us, he always joined in prayer with my family. A few weeks ago, he said the shahadah with his physician, Dr. Asad Tarsin, and requested that he be buried as a Muslim. I washed his body with my son and two close friends yesterday. We will bury him this morning. I want to thank everyone who has extended condolences to me and my family. I would ask simply for a prayer for his salvation.
Thank you. Hamza Yusuf Hanson.

Sahih Muslim (2167) -

"Allah's Messenger said: Do not greet the Jews and the Christians before they greet you and when you meet any one of them on the roads FORCE him to go to the narrowest part of it."
I wouldn't say it is a fabriated hadith. Rather, those who use the hadith do not do so in its wide context. There are many ahadith talking about initiating greeting and spreading peace (to muslims and non-muslims).

The above hadith are used by extreme people with half knowledge. Some scholars prohibited initiating the greeting of peace with non-Muslims based upon the statement of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him:

لَا تَبْدَءُوا الْيَهُودَ وَلَا النَّصَارَى بِالسَّلَامِ

Do not initiate the greeting of peace with the Jews and Christians.

Source: Sahih Muslim 2167, Grade: Sahih

These scholars understood this to be a general rule. However, in many other scholar's view, the stronger opinion is that the narrations commanding us to spread peace are the general rule, and this narration is specific to the incident in which there were declared hostilities between some Jewish tribes, their allies, and the Muslims.

Ibn Al-Qayyim writes:

لَكِنْ قَدْ قِيلَ إِنَّ هَذَا كَانَ فِي قَضِيَّةٍ خَاصَّةٍ لَمَّا سَارُوا إِلَى بَنِي قُرَيْظَةَ

It is said that this was in a specific situation, when they were marching to Banu Qurayzah

Source: Zād al-Ma’ād 2/388

Other versions of this tradition demonstrate that the Prophet said this during the campaign against Banu Qurayzah, a Jewish tribe who had betrayed the Muslims and aided their enemies in a war of extermination.

Abu Basrah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

إِنَّا غَادُونَ عَلَى يَهُودَ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ فَإِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

Verily, I will depart against the Jews in the morning, so do not greet them with peace and if they greet you with peace, then say: And upon you.

Source: Musnad Ahmad 26695, Grade: Sahih

So the hadith quoted by albhagdadi is isolated one. NOT general rule.

Many take issue of debt so lightly. Some, like example of woman who duped fellow human being thinks she can get away with this. You gonna have to repay what you owe willing or unwillingly.

Statements of Sahaabah regarding debt

Umar ibn al-Khattaab said: Beware of debt, for it starts with worry and it ends with war. (Maalik in al-Muwatta).

And Ibn ‘Umar said: “O Humraan, fear Allaah and do not die in debt, lest it be taken from your good deeds when there will be no dinars and no dirhams.”
IslamRe: Islam For Muslims: Side Talk Station by Empiree: 4:39pm On Dec 28, 2016
Debt repayment is VERY important in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (peace upon him) said, “the best among you are those best in paying off debt” (reported by Muslim) and “procrastination (delay) in repaying debts by a wealthy person is injustice” (reported by Bukhari).

Another hadith states “Whoever contracts a debt intending to repay it, Allah will repay it on his behalf, and whoever contracts a debt intending to waste it, Allah will bring him to ruin” (reported by Bukhari).

This hadith emphasises that those contracting debt with the intention to repay will be granted the means to do so. However, at the same time it warns against acquiring debt that one does not have the means or intention to repay.

IslamRe: Stoning And Hand Cutting—understanding The Hudud And The Shariah In Islam by Empiree: 12:52am On Dec 28, 2016
tbaba1234:
What are the Hudud?

The concept of Hudud in Islamic criminal law is not found in the Quran, though it is referred to in Hadiths considered authentic by Muslims.[6] Ḥudūd in Arabic is the plural of ḥadd, meaning limit or boundary. The Quran mentions the “limits of God” several times, warning Muslims of the sin of transgressing them and that they should not even approach them (Quran 2:187). But nowhere does the phrase appear in the clear context of labeling certain crimes (see Quran, 2:229, 4:14, 58:4, 65:1, though 4:14 is followed by discussion of sexual impropriety).

As the famous scholar Ibn Taymiyya (d. 1328) noted, definitions for the categories of crimes (and their corresponding punishments) in Islamic law were the products of human reason and not scripture.[7] Early Muslim jurists probably inherited the concept of a category of crimes called Hudud from references to it made by the Prophet ﷺ and the early generations of Muslims. Muslim scholars have agreed that the Hudud include: adultery/fornication (zinā), consuming intoxicants (shurb al-khamr), accusing someone of fornication (qadhf), some types of theft (sariqa), and armed robbery or banditry (ḥirāba). Muslim schools of law have disagreed on whether three other crimes should be included as well: public apostasy (ridda), sodomy (liwāṭ) and assassination/premeditated murder for purposes of robbery (ghīla).[8]

What is in common among the Hudud crimes is that their punishments are specified in the Quran or Sunna and that they are considered to be violations of the rights of God.[9] Of course, some of the Hudud are also violations of the rights of humans as well. Sariqa (the Hudud-level of theft, see below), qadhf (sexual slander) and ḥirāba (armed robbery, banditry) are obviously violations of people’s rights to life, property and/or dignity.

The scriptural commands that specify these Hudud punishments are, in summary:

Zinā: The Quran commands that men and women who engage in fornication be lashed 100 times (Quran 24:2), and Hadiths add that if the person is single and has never been married then they should also be exiled for a year.[10] The Hanafi school of law does not accept the additional punishment of exile because it does not deem the Hadiths in question strong enough evidence to alter the Quranic ruling. It was agreed upon by all the Muslim schools of law that the Quranic punishment referred to here was for unmarried people. Married men and women guilty of adultery are punished by stoning, as demonstrated in the Sunna of the Prophet.[11]
Sariqa: the Quran specifies that the thief, male or female, should have their hand cut off “as a requital for what they have done and as a deterrent ordained by God” (Quran 5:38).

Qadhf: The Quran commands that anyone who accuses someone of adultery and does not provide four witnesses to the alleged act should be lashed 80 times and should never again have their testimony accepted (Quran 24:4).

Shurb al-Khamr: Though the Quran prohibits drinking wine (khamr) and intoxication, the punishment for drinking comes from the Sunna. The most reliable Hadiths state that the Prophet ﷺ would have a person lashed 40 times for intoxication, but the caliphs Umar and Ali subsequently increased this to 80 after consultation with other Companions.[12]

Ḥirāba: This crime is understood to be set out in the Quran’s condemnation of “those who make war on God and His Messenger and seek to spread harm and corruption in the land.” The Quran gives it the harshest punishment in Islam: crucifixion and/or amputating hands and feet (Quran 5:33). The vast majority of Muslim scholars have held that this verse was revealed after a group of men brutally blinded, maimed and murdered a shepherd and then stole his camels. The Prophet ﷺ ordered the killers punished in exactly the same way.[13] Yet prominent scholars were skeptical of reports that he had actually ordered the murderers’ hands or feet cut off.[14] This disagreement between the punishments ordered by the Quran and by the Prophet ﷺ may have been because the Prophet’s ﷺ order came before the verse was revealed,[15] but the ambiguity is generally understood as illustrating that the ruler/state has discretion in deciding the proper punishment for ḥirāba.[16]

The Hudud do not cover what most legal systems would consider the most serious part of criminal law: murder. But this does fall within what we can term Islamic criminal law. Although the Quran and Sunna conceptualize murder, accidental killing, as well as physical injuries done to others, as private wrongs against individuals and their families, from the time of the Prophet ﷺ it was the state that oversaw these disputes and carried out punishments. These were violations of the rights of people, but they also touched on the realm of public order and violence, which was the territory of the ruler.[17] Since cases of homicide were brought by the victim’s kin (much like in the West until the nineteenth century), the state (in the person of the judge or governor) would be responsible for bringing cases for victims with no kin, on the basis of the Prophet’s ﷺ saying that “The authority (sulṭān) is the guardian of those who have no guardian.”[18] The state also often took responsibility for compensating victims and their families when the guilty party could not be identified.[19]
How i wish hudud for zina (stoning) is revisited collectively by Ulama. Reason for this is bcus Quran does not differentiate btw married or unmarried in this case. All the ahadith reported about stoning (in nabi's lifetime) did not specified whether stoning was carried out before or after this verse of Quran was revealed. I reject the idea of those who said stoning is deterrent. Flogging is deterrent too. The only weight "stoning" has is its UNIVERSAL approval by all or majority of Ulama.

I believe that "stoning" is what is implemented in Old Laws and applied to those people (Yahud and nassara) only. But who is empire to go against what majority have concluded. I believe stoning should apply on Dhimmi not muslims unless such muslim becomes career adulterer. The reason I now go against stoning is bcus of hadith which appears to implicate Quran by claiming rajam USED to be in the Quran. I dont believe that. If a verse used to be in the Quran, and was later removed, only Allah and His messenger(saw) had the right to tell us that not third party.

Oh well, Allah knows

Shia Muslims join in felicitating with Christians during Christmas. Sunni Wahhabi preachers are the ones who keep hammering that Christmas is a sin and it is forbidden to wish Christians on Christmas. Wahhabi preachers even view commemorating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (s)- Eid al-Maulid- as a SIN!!!

Don't go overboard akhi. It is not about Wahabism at all. Every muslim MUST be able to differentiate Islam from other religions. I condemn both end of extremism, i:e those who joined in celebrating xmas and those who condemn reciprocating greetings when christians greet them "merry xmas". Greeting is simply a courtesy that islam requires of us. There is nothing shirk in that. However, what islam condemns is JOINING them in their worship which was the reason Sura Kafirun was revealed. Those who joined them in worship are transgressing.

Greeting, that's FULL STOP. A muslim is even allowed to attend church wedding of friends or family members( who are christians). What we dont do is joining in their worship. It is the same as Aborisha, Odun oro, Odun Eegun, Agemo. If they say to you "A ku odun" return the greeting and move on bcus all these people greet muslims in their holidays as well. So this is simply courtesy. But joining them in worship is going overboard. When you go to church, sit at the back and let them do their rituals(worship). After they finish then you can join in their neutral feast. Period

So this is not Wahabi thing please. There are bunch on non-wahabi sunni schools who do not share your view. This is one example

https://www.facebook.com/ustadhismail.agbeti?fref=ts

^^^

Above is a sunni-sufi. December 25th is not related with Nabi Isa (AS). Not even all christians celebrate it on this day. Orthodox christians do theirs sometimes in January. And some christians like Jehovah Witnesses don't even celebrate it at all. But if they wish you "merry xmas", simply return their greetings especially if they are cool neighbors. But joining them in their xmas celebration is tantamount to worship. If you can not join Oro or Agemo festivals, you cant join this either. It is established fact that Isa(as) was not born on this day.

It started 4000 years ago. Never dried since then. Never changed taste. No Algae or plant growth in the water, so no disease caused.

Tested by European Labs and declared fit for drinking. This small well provides water for 2 million people through heavy motors pulling 8000 litres per second and every 24hrs, it refills its level in 11 minutes. Thus, its water level never decreases. Subhan Allah .!
