6 IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS YOU NEED TO APPLY FOR ADMISSION IN CANADA.

If you are a Nigerian interested in applying for admission to a Canadian educational institution, you will need to provide several documents. The specific documents required will vary depending on the school and program you are applying to, but here are some of the most common documents that Nigerian students need to apply for admission to Canada:

1. EDUCATIONAL CREDENTIALS.

You will need to provide certified copies of your academic transcripts and certificates from secondary school and any post-secondary education you have completed. If you are applying for an undergraduate degree or diploma, your WAEC or NECO certificate is all you need to gain admission. If your transcripts are not in English or French, you will need to have them translated into one of these languages by an accredited translator. English and French are Canada's two official languages.

2. LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST.

You will need to take an approved English or French language proficiency test and provide the official results to the institution you are applying to. Some of the commonly accepted language tests are IELTS, TOEFL, and CELPIP. However, most English-speaking countries like Nigeria are exempted from showing proof of English proficiency.

3. INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT

You will need a valid Nigerian passport that is not expired. Your passport will be used to issue your study permit once you are admitted to a Canadian institution. Another thing you should know is that your study permit or study visa will not be issued beyond your passport's expiry date. Therefore, ensure that your passport has a minimum of 2 years before it expires.

4. PROOF OF FUNDS

You will need to show that you have enough money to cover your tuition fees, living expenses, health insurance, and other costs associated with studying in Canada. This can be done by providing bank statements, scholarship letters, letters of sponsorship, loan offer letters, or other financial documents.

5. LETTER OF INTENT.

You may be required to submit a letter of intent (LOI) that explains why you want to study in Canada and what you hope to gain from the experience. A letter of intent is an optional requirement as not all schools request it.

6. CURRICULUM VITAE (CV) OR RESUME.

You may also need to provide your CV or Resume as one of the admission requirements. This is especially true if you are applying for a Postgraduate program. Over the years, I have seen people transition from their undergraduate course of study to a more promising one. While some people do this because they've gained experience in a new career, others simply move to a more promising industry like health or tech. In this case, your CV, alongside your letter of intent should prove this.

It is important to note that the specific requirements for admission to Canadian educational institutions can vary widely. Therefore, it is advisable to consult with the institution you plan to apply to for their specific requirements. You'll find this information on their website, be it a University, Polytechnic, or College.

Cheers ✌️

HOW TO RELOCATE TO CANADA FROM NIGERIA THROUGH A STUDY VISA - NO IELTS

The Study Visa relocation route is what you need if you hate IELTS or TOEFL exams like most Nigerians.

With this relocation path, you can relocate, study for free, and work in Canada without wasting money on any travel agent or writing IELTS/TOEFL academic exams.

And the best news is that you can go for this relocation path even if you are above 40 years.

HOW DOES THE STUDY VISA WORK?

Step 1. You choose a Canadian School and Program in a province of your choice.

Step 2. You apply to the University/College depending on your CGPA plus school requirements.

Step 3. You get an offer letter and head on to Apply for a Study Visa.

Step 4. You arrive in Canada to study and get your Study Permit.

Step 5. You graduate and apply for Permanent Residence in Canada.

WHY IS THE STUDY VISA RELOCATION PATHWAY THE BEST FOR YOU?

#1. The Study Visa is the highest administration rate pathway to Canada today (undergraduate to Ph.D.).

#2. Most routes are inconsistent – for instance, relocation paths like EE, PNP, and others were paused for people outside of Canada, and guess what? The point system takes into consideration your age, language, Canadian education, Canadian work experience, IELTS, and more, which makes them very competitive.

#3. Does not need IELTS as far as you studied in English.

#4. Your age does not matter.

# You are allowed to work up to 20hrs per week as a student.

#5. Your Spouse/Family can join you. And guess what? Your husband or wife will get the Spousal Open Work Permit – to work anywhere in Canada.

And your children get work or study visit Visas depending on their age.

#6. You get Canadian Work Experience – imagine getting the top 2 requirements others sweat to get into the EE, PNP, or other relocation programs.

#7. No agents are required. You do everything, plus the support you need to scale through.

You may have heard that getting a Canada study visa is difficult compared to the UK. Yes, this is because has lots of perks that some other top countries do not have currently.

The truth is, Canada is in dire need of immigrants. They want people to come and study and work in their country.

They have been facing serious labor shortages post-COVID, but they also want to make sure that they're not opening their door to every Tom, D|ck, and Harry.

Nothing good comes easy!

The journey becomes easier with every step.

HOW TO RELOCATE TO CANADA THROUGH THE PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is one of the easiest routes to relocate to Canada.

The program is designed to enable provinces and territories to support the immigration of people who are interested in living there.

There are 10 provinces, and 3 territories in Canada and each has its immigration policies.

The province in Canada is just the same way we have different states and a federal government in Nigeria.

Before we proceed, let me tell you a bit about the country called Canada.

Canada is 11 times bigger than Nigeria. Meanwhile, the population of Canada is 38.25 people, whereas that of Nigeria is 225 people. This means that there are 186.75 more people in Nigeria.

Canada is the second-largest country in the world in terms of land mass.

Canada operates a national government plus 10 provincial governments; with each deriving its power from the constitution.

Each Canadian province has an independent government with the power to conduct its immigration programs.

So let's go back to the topic of the relocation via the provincial nominee program (PNP).

Just like the Express Entry, PNP also makes use of a points-based system to qualify you.

The higher your points, the higher your chances of being sponsored by the province.

Qualification points are typically based on a combination of factors; such as age, work experience, education, language proficiency, and connection to the province.

The good thing about it is that you might not require a high IELTS score. However, having a Canadian connection in the province is a big plus.

Again, when you relocate to Canada through PNP, you must say in the province for some years.

Is this even an issue?

As my friend would say, "Anywhere in Canada is Canada".

In summary, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is for workers who;

📌 Have the skills, education, and work experience to contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory in Canada.

📌 Want to live in that province?

📌 Want to become permanent residents of Canada

If you have a skill that is in demand in any Canadian province then the Provincial Nominee Program is for you.

Enddystar:
Canada is one country that many people pray, for, and hope to be.

If I ask you to pick your preferred japa country, you'd likely choose Canada.

The reason is simple!

Canada is a good country with friendly immigration policies.

Today, let me share with you 7 legit routes you can use to relocate to Canada.

I decided to use the word "legit" because some Nigerians still japa through illegal means.

Some travel through containers, and some through the deep mediterranean sea.

People take all manner of deadly risks just to leave the shores of Nigeria.

Sadly, some even spend millions of Naira only to end up in Lybia 😢

As I said, there are many legit ways you can travel to Canada, the US, the UK, etc.

The question is, are you willing to patiently go through the processes?

Below are the top 7 routes you can use to migrate to Canada (in no particular order)

1. Canada Express Entry (EE) Route

2. Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

3. Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Program (RNIPP)

4. Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC) Program

5. Canada Work Permit Immigration Route

6. Start-Up Visa Program

7. Canada Study Visa Route

In subsequent posts, I will explain the different routes in detail.

How to Relocate to Canada from Nigeria Via Express Entry Route

Did you know that Canada plans to welcome 1.45 million permanent residents into the country over a 3 years plan; from 2023 - 2025?

On November 1, 2022, Canada Immigration Minister, Sean Fraser said "Canada is aiming to welcome a total of 1.45 million new permanent residents over three years across all immigration categories.”

Yes, and the beauty of this is you'll be given permanent residency even before your arrival. You’ll be eligible to start work immediately after you land. If you’re married, your children will enjoy free education, health care, as well as child support from the Canadian govt.

In my previous post, I talked about the 7 legit ways to move to Canada in 2023.

The first route I will be talking about today is the Express Entry route.

This is because it is one of the cheapest and fast ways to relocate to Canada from Nigeria as a SKILLED WORKER without spending a lot of money.

If you have up to 1-year full-time working experience in a skilled job, you're eligible to apply.

However, you need to meet other criteria such as language tests, education, Canadian connection, etc.

Once these criteria are met, the next step is to submit your profile online on the Express Entry portal. Once that is done, you'll be placed in a pool alongside other applicants.

Canada Express Entry makes use of a point-based ranking system called CRS. Once a draw is done, the Canadian government will send you an “invitation to apply” if you meet the cut-off point.

As I said earlier, the Express Entry route is one of the best, fasted, and legal ways to immigrate to Canada from Nigeria. However, there are a few things you should know.

This route is favourable to young professionals below the age of 30

You need to have a minimum educational qualification. The higher your qualification you have, the better your chances.

You need to meet a minimum English language test (IELTS) of at least 6.0 band.

You’ll need a Canadian connection. A Canadian connection means someone that is permanently resident in Canada and is related to you.

In summary, the express entry route favours younger people, say 30 years old and below with a Master’s degree, one year of work experience (in qualified jobs), and an IELTS score of 6.0+.

You may have heard that the Canadian government needs a lot of people to come to their country.

That is very correct! Canada has an aging population with a low birth rate leading to a shortage of manpower in the country. So, they need a lot of immigrants to survive but they also want to be sure that only quality immigrants are allowed into their country.

An overview of the Canada Express Entry Application process

Before you can create a profile in the Express Entry pool, you need to satisfy the following.

Step 1: Familiarize yourself with Canadian immigration policies, rules, and guidelines. You can find more information on the IRCC website.

Step 2: Evaluate your education credentials/qualifications. The first thing to do is to evaluate your education to Canadian standard (equivalent) using an ECA body; like WES, IQAS, etc.

An Educational credential assessment (ECA) is used to verify that your foreign degree, diploma, or certificate (or other proof of your credential) is valid and equal to a Canadian one. There are different types of ECAs. In this case, you need to get an ECA for immigration purposes.

Step 3: Study and sit for IELTS. IELTS means International English Language Testing System. It is very compulsory if you plan to relocate, and work as a skilled worker in Canada. If you plan to go through the study route, then you do not need an IELTS.

Step 4: Create an Express Entry profile.

Step 5: Your profile gets ranked in the Express Entry pool depending on your points. This is done using a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)

Step 6: You’ll receive an “Invitation to Apply” (ITA) if you meet the cut-off point.

Step 7: You can get a job from a Canadian employer after you get an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canada.

Step 8: Get your Medical done, Biometric, Police Character Certificate, and other Documents.

Step 8: Apply for a Canada visa and migrate to Canada.
