Friends often ask me about moving to Canada with a job offer. I understand their interest, considering the study route's expense and Express Entry's challenges for individuals over 35 without strong academic qualifications. However, agents advertising Canadian work visas often overlook the difficulties of finding employment from abroad. Securing a job from outside Canada is not impossible but more complicated than it sounds. I advise exploring alternative options like the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) or the Atlantic Immigration Programs, which don't require job offers. If you prefer the work visa route, use Indeed and Job Bank to find jobs, ensuring employer support for your application. Be cautious of agents promising job placements unless certain. Someone I know was told they got a job visa, sent their passport for stamping, and still hasn't received it back since 3 months |
ImoleNaomi:First of all, I don't think changing your date of birth is much of an issue. Just have a court affidavit to back it up. Secondly, Yes they may revisit your dad's information, so it's best to ensure the data tallies. He knows it may be easier for you to get your permanent stay since both of them are citizens. You can always bring your mother when you settle in, make sure to add her to your initial application. Feel free to let him know you want to add your real mom |

Godoverevery:Social media truly makes everyone look equal. Even people on borrowed data are now equal to a billionaire who will never be hungry no matter the economic degradation. You're calling Obi a daft for preaching the unity of Nigeria. If he had said otherwise, you'd still insult him. Nigerians will never learn. Ukraine has supplied corn, you can go and collect your own |

Deep Secrets about Claiming Asylum that Nobody Tells You About. 1. You’re gonna tell a lot of lies. Be ready. 2. You’re going to bring your children up to tell and perform these lies too. 3. Canada currently has a housing crisis. This means that the demand on the housing market is insufficient for the supply of people coming to Canada. Hence, shelter apartments are filled up. Some Asylum seekers are sleeping in tents outside the streets. 4. When you do seek asylum, you can not get a permanent resident through any other pathway until your asylum claims are verified. 5. This means that you’re ineligible for any other pathway. Even if you do study in Canada, or get married to a citizen you cannot apply for permanent residency through this pathway. 6. Asylum seeming can take several years to come through and at the end of it, you may still be deported back. Several people have been deported. I see links of people raising go-fund me accounts for these families just so that they can have a softer landing as they return home. 7. Even if your child is born here while you’re an asylum seeker, you and your child may be deported back because the child is still a minor and you the primary caregiver have no settlement here. 8. Seeking asylum means that the government would give you a work permit to look for a job. The government does not give you a job. But you have a permit that enables you to get a job. 9. This job does not qualify you for permanent residency because they’re not often skilled jobs. It’s just for you to feed, and take care of your children (if any). It’s after your claims have been verified, then you can work for some years and start your PR process. 10. Your claims can take several years to come through. 11. Once you claim asylum you can no longer return to the country you claim is pursuing you. The thing is that you’re claiming you’re being pursued or prosecuted and want to seek refugee in a new country. Some people find a way around to travel through Ghana or other neighbouring countries. Lots of time and money. 12. Looking through all of the provincial pathways for all of the ten provinces in Canada, asylum seekers are not eligible to apply for ALL of them. Check the comment section to see some screenshots from the Saskatchewan province. 13. If you do apply, your application will be denied. If in the unlikely event that your application is granted because an offer missed this information, your PR would be revoked. 14. Amidst the COVID pandemic, Canada extended permanent residency opportunities generously; like pure water, particularly to healthcare professionals facing overwhelming demands. While this was a rare event, some still seekers were fortunate to get PR during this exceptional period. 15. This pathway has worked for a few people. However, for one person it has worked for, there are over 1000 people it has failed. 16. Nigerians facing this problem are not being honest with their folks back home. Many of such people just tell their friends and family that they’ve gotten jobs. These naive people back home believe them and also want to come to Canada through this same route unaware of the untold hardship and expenses they’re going to spend. 17. Despite having a work permit, asylum seekers have the same first digit of their social insurance numbers starting with “9” same as anyone with a temporary permit. This tells any employer that your status is not completely settled. 18. There are loads of job restrictions that asylum seekers can not apply for and to. 19. Many employers would rarely employ an asylum seeker for a full-term permanent role because they know they’d always have immigration issues. Hence asylum seekers are left to fall back to casual jobs. 20. How do people claim asylum? They apply for visiting visas and then go to the border at different points in Canada to change their status from visiting to refugee seeking. 21. Once you do this; you’ve lost your visiting visa status and now you’re a seeker. You’re technically saying bye-bye to Nigeria; your family and friends (except you came with been), and welcoming you to a world of performance lies 22. Many immigration lawyers say that this is not a route they’d advise for their family members. 23. If you know anyone who has left their home country and hasn’t returned home in a long time. His mama died, e not fit to return. His papa died, e not fit to go home for burial. This person is not able to go home for important celebrations or activities, he’s probably an asylum seeker in the country where he resides. 24. It is worth the stress, the lies, the emotional and physical torture? The funds? This is NOT a route I advise. However, it’s a decision for you to make yourself. My job is to bring these realities to the fore. |
Selfconvince:You must not come to Canada on a study visa get a work permit and be able to work. You can get a work visa directly from your country but the chances are very slim. The study route seems like the easiest and surest way to relocate to Canada, maybe that's why everybody is talking about it. There are other routes like the Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), etc. Each of these will favour you if you're young, have a second degree or more, and score high in English tests like IELTS. A college may be cheaper but not necessarily better. Both are good and recognized. You can go for anyone that favours you or is cheaper for you. |

Many international students are currently stranded in Canada. According to the Canadian government, these are students who hope to get a job after their school. Unfortunately, their programs are not eligible for postgraduate work permits. Most agents do not educate students about the programs they are going to do in Canada. Should we blame the desperate agents who want to make money at all costs? No, I will blame you more if you fall into this kind of mess. Not in this modern day of the internet. Even if you want to use an agent for your admission and visa, you should have an idea of what he/she is doing. I know that you want to choose a program with low tuition fees. You want to live in a cheap province like Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick, etc. While these are good, there are more important things you should consider. ✅ Is the school a recognized DLI? ✅ Is the program eligible for a Postgraduate Work Permit? A DLI is a Canadian institution that may admit international students. If your school is not authorized, OYO is your case. PGWP means that you can get a work permit to work in Canada after your studies. When I started applying to study in Canada, I didn’t know anything about this. The first college I contacted was a DLI but the program is not eligible for a PGWP. Omo na so I take off o You don't need to crack your head so much. You can push the responsibility of getting a good school and program to us. Ask |

5 THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT STUDYING IN CANADA WITH YOUR HND If you have a Higher National Diploma (HND) from Nigeria and you are applying to study in a Canadian College or University, please note the following. 1. HND is not equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Canada. Rather, it is equivalent to a 3-year undergraduate diploma/advanced diploma. This means that Canada does not accept HND into a Master's degree program. This can change later but as at today, it is not possible. 2. There is nothing like a pre-masters or top-up degree in Canada as applicable in the UK. 3. When evaluating your credentials with WES, IQAS, etc. for either admission or immigration especially, I will advise you to evaluate both your National Diploma, and Higher National Diploma. 4. The fourth thing to note is that your HND is valuable in Canada as much as the BSc, and can be used to gain admission into a Canadian College or University. 5. You can be admitted into a Postgraduate diploma or postgraduate certificate program in Canada. So you have any question or anything you want me to talk about concerning relocating to Canada through the study route? feel free to ask me. |
